Five More Undetonated Bombs Found In Boston; Death Toll Rises To 3

In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon explosions, the WSJ is reporting that counterterrorism officials have found what they believe to be five additional, undetonated explosive devices around the Boston area. The devices - which are in addition to the two that exploded near the finish line of the marathon - were discovered over the course of a frantic inspection of suspicious packages. Each had been rendered inoperative or was in the process of being rendered inoperative.

Via WSJ,

Counterterrorism officials found what they believe to be five additional, undetonated explosive devices around the Boston area, according to two people briefed on the rapidly moving investigation.

The devices—which are in addition to the two that exploded near the finish line of the marathon—were discovered over the course of a frantic inspection of suspicious packages, many of them abandoned as pedestrians, runners, and others scrambled away from crowded public streets. Each had been rendered inoperative or was in the process of being rendered inoperative, the officials said.

But the officials also sounded a note of caution, saying they are moving quickly and each device they believe is a bomb hasn't been fully dissected or analyzed.

That was my first thought. Tax day, two explosions pretty close to each other.

But, if there are 5-10 devices that means multiple people and coordination. I imagine that place was pretty tight security wise as well.

Unless it was a very powerful explosive, that also means large size, which you cannot just toss out in the garbage can, which was probably damn near full.

Video I saw showed an upwards channeling of the blast, meaning it was probably lower in the can. Early placement most likely.

My guess is these cans were probably specified to contain bombs dropped in them. If they weren't they should have been.

And nobody can use the "couldn't have imagined" line, as the alphabet soup agencies have had a decade to think of this shit I pulled off the top of my head.

AJ said he was in the DIA. He was in position to finish the race at about the time of the bombing. He was pulled from the race by military superiors and sent to a hospital to be treated for dehydration even though he thought he could have finished the race. AJ compared this to Mayor Willie Brown being told by Condoleeza Rice not to fly on 911.

The tweet WAS NOT an announcement of any drill occuring...it was a notification that a device was about to be detonated. It occured after the marathon detonations. NO DRILL.

The coach's story might be a little trickier for the slow witted, but follow me here. This guy - in his infinite(20-20 hindsighted) wisdom -noticed cops with dogs at the start and finish lines, and cops on some roofs. Two explosions went off. He is being interviewed after the explosions, and so the dogs were "bomb-sniffing"dogs, and the cops on roofs were "bomb-spotters" - his words - not mine. Here's the deal....big-assed international events like this get big-assed security presence - and that includes DOGS. Dogs who would be just as likely to be described as "drug-sniffing" had there been a drug bust on that street today...get it? And what's with this dumb-ass coach calling the cops on the roofs "bomb-spotters"? Seriously? Do you see haw what he had just experienced colored his description of what he experienced a little earlier? Further, he never explicitly says that the "drill" talk took place BEFORE the explosions had occured...because it didn't. It was what people were told after shit went sideways...to keep them calm, and cooperative, and moving along.

The library fire link really doesn't warrant an explaination...there was a fire in the library. The "tweet" you cite in your first link is tied to this, though...and the planned (in one minute) detonation was bomb-squad SOP with a suspicious package/bag, considering the marathon explosions and the fire.

Don't get me wrong...I'm AT LEAST as conspiratorial as the next ZHer...and this may well be a false flag when all is said and done.

My issue here is that Mike Adams started an unfounded narrative and Alex Jones ran with it...and at the moment AJ could have backed away from it after he had time to get more information, he instead chose to double down and stretch and grasp and leap and twist.

In my book, because he had to have done this intentionally...he is not to be trusted.

NOTHING was said by the official that in ANY WAY supports this narrative. Just because some semi articulate dufus with a press pass manages to get the word "drill" in his question, DOES NOT mean that the official has confirmed there was a drill. He NEVER addressed or used the word drill, much less confirmed that they were conducting drills for "that exact scenario" as AJ keeps harping on.

well said, and especially the grieving part. no innocent human being, ever, under any circumstances, deserves to have a random bomb go off suddenly in some public space. I'm sorry. Everything comes to a full stop when that happens. I will solve puzzles and investigate data later, but this is not that. Some people died and other were terribly wounded in a concerted bomb attack, in a city that is pretty decent, and I hear welcoming and open.

and, right now, that just pisses me off. and is making me feel for my fellow citizens up there. that's about it. I think I'll just set with thinking about how unacceptable this is.
