In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon explosions, the WSJ is reporting that counterterrorism officials have found what they believe to be five additional, undetonated explosive devices around the Boston area. The devices - which are in addition to the two that exploded near the finish line of the marathon - were discovered over the course of a frantic inspection of suspicious packages. Each had been rendered inoperative or was in the process of being rendered inoperative.

Each had been rendered inoperative or was in the process of being rendered inoperative, the officials said.
But the officials also sounded a note of caution, saying they are moving quickly and each device they believe is a bomb hasn't been fully dissected or analyzed.

I read the /Left tried to “first lie” that the /Right was involved in the Boston bombing. I read here at my Fight Club Site some attempt to black helicopter the CIA and govment Ops types as responsible. There is little grief or horrified response that I hear from /left or /right.
This is a tragedy in Boston. And even more tragic for our Nation is the gathering of Sandy Hook people for their purpose (related to the slaughter of their children) and have people blown up by another monster who was not stopped by laws, intel, covert, police, Homeland Security, gun laws, or any of the zillion solutions we attempt to stop insanity.
In that there is a major fight to pass an Immigration and a Firearms law which seems to have the focus of DC over the critical issues we face, pay attention to any spin that can be used to advance any agenda pro or con to whatever.

The explosion looked to be less than a few M-80s dropped in a trash can. The shrapnel looks like it caused the damage, not the bomb itself. Perhaps an oversight, not realizing the bomb would blow up the trash can and send metal flying through the crowd.

Daughter was 30-40 yards from explosion(s) waiting with friends, for friends, at Finish line to complete their run.
She's pretty shaken as she was witness to two young children, one dimembered hand and the other a foot.

Has anyone else noticed the near-total lack (blackout) of any meaningful substance to this story? Virtually nothing new has been reported since shortly after detonation. 12 hours have passed, and all we have is a basic wireframe: three bombs detonated; X other devices discovered and deactivated; three dead; 100+ injured; 10-20 traumatic amputations.
Plenty of headlines, and plenty of "eyewitnesses" describing gore...Obviously, authorities aren't going to go on record officially--but where are the leaks, the twitter feeds, the "officials speaking on the condition of anonymity"? Many on this board will assert this a government conspiracy to further erode civil liberties. But the problem with such theories is that they require ultimate competence on the part of the government--which we all know is simple contradiction.
Also, for anyone assuming this is FF, think about what such an operation requires: someone claiming responsibility. And failing that, at least extensive gov't mis-direction by pointing fingers, "recovering" evidence and implying leads to menacing anti-democratic actors. This situation has none of that.
Which tells me that authorities don't know jack, and that whoever did this has everyone flim-flammed.

Here is something that bugs me. The bombs are claimed to be very amateurish. However, amateur bombs don't explode in such a controlled fashion as to only take out the lower extremities of bystanders. If this were a simple Gasoline and Gunpowder bomb, as it has been described then it would have exploded up and out. Almost for certain the bombs were ground level or near ground level so 1/2 of the force of the bomb would have been reflected back up. What that would produce is a wound profile that would be all over the body with a statistically larger portion being in the mid to upper portions of the body (due to the reflected blast). This photo is bizarre. His legs are blow off below the knee, but his upper body is unscratched. It seems to me that these in fact were not amateur bombs at all. In fact, if they were amateur what we would have seen is a lot more body and head wounds and thus a lot more deaths. No, it appears to me that these were sophisticated shaped devices with intent to produce maximum injury and minimize fatal wounds. Why go to all that trouble? Well because a simple pipe bomb will have a semi-spherical blast and may only injure/kill people in very close proximity to it. However, these shaped bombs caused injury to a larger group of people and these people can be made into media darlings as we follow their suffering for the next years to come (sorry for those that were injured, you did not chose to become pawns).
This is beyond the ability of terrorists groups. Only military/cia could produce a shaped blast that caused the injury in the photo.

Watching coverage this morning. Seeing pictures of the recovery effort, but also being shown lots and lots of law enforcement and military with machine guns.
What purpose would machine guns serve in a recovery effort? considering the overwhelming presence, you could easily stop a looter or a person trying to tamper with the crime scene with standard side arms. And wouldn't you want to capture either type of suspect alive?
most cops are heavily armed these days...this occurred in Boston, a huge city, and in my small town in SW FL each cop walks around wiith a glock 22 (15 shot .40 S&W) , TWO tazers, pepper spray, black jack, and shotgun and/or assault weapon in vehicle.
