Massive Fertilizer Plant Explosion Shakes Texas, Town Evacuated, Toxic Fumes, Up To 70 Dead - Live Stream

Tyler Durden's picture

In the aftermath of the Boston horrors, a massive explosion has occurred at a fertlizer plant in the town of West, Texas (near Waco). This week is the 20th anniversary of the deadly seige in Waco. There are at least 10 other buildings are on fire, including the town middle school, and a large swath of the town was “leveled” in the explosion. The explosion occurred around 7:50pm local time. A fireball of nearly 100 feet high has been reported along with a massive power outage. The images and scale of this explosion are incredible and reports are coming in people still trapped. The explosion could be heard from 100 miles away in Dallas. The explosion followed the outbreak of a fire at the plant - and occurred as firefighters were working on the blaze.

UPDATE: Entire town (within a mile radius) to be evacuated - toxic fumes may be spreading

UPDATE: Hospital told to anticipate 100 people with injuries, Hospital CEO tells CNN

UPDATE: Up To 70 Dead, 38 seriously injured included blast injuries, orthopedic injuries, large wounds and a lot of lacerations and cuts.

UPDATE: *AS MANY AS 80 HOMES DESTROYED IN TEXAS FERTILIZER BLAST: CNN

CNN Reports from Dr. George Smith, the emergency management system director of the city:

Fire officials fear that the number of casualties could rise as high as 60 to 70 dead,

"That's a really rough number, I'm getting that figure from firefighters, we don't know yet," he said.

"There are lots of houses that are leveled within a two-block radius," Smith said. "A lot of other homes are damaged as well outside that radius."

"It was an apartment complex that was devastated, and the nursing home. The fire was close to a residential area,"

And from the Mayor:

"There's a lot of people who won't be here
tomorrow
"

"Blast 'took out' a five-block radius"

Stunning clip of the explosion (at around 25 seconds)

The bloody history of United States "interventions" for "peace" and "freedom" around the World will allways be remembered and told as it was and it will be for years to come.

The silence of the american people is also gonna be remembered.

And we all will remember that all of this was just for the profit of a bunch of corporate "friends", bad even for the american people.

Red stripes of the USA flag are (and will always be) the red of blood.

The cause of the disaster was not made clear at the time. However, there had been staff shortages, a management position that had remained empty for a year, and 189 inexperienced Italian POWs were working in the mines at the time of the accident. In 1974, it was officially announced that the cause of the explosion was probably a site worker removing a detonator from a live bomb using a brass chisel rather than a wooden batten. An eyewitness testified that he had seen a worker using brass chisels in defiance of the strict regulations in force. - Wikipedia

This is a great description of how industrial disasters happen. I've read through lots of these and they all sound remarkably similar.

Trivial. Which 'americans' declared freedom an inalienable human right and kept human beings as slaves? Your dung hand always at the ready, you fling your handsful of poop at US founding fathers, a big easy target. Alway then you extrapolate derangedly on all 'americans'.

How does meeting 'americans' come in? Oh wait, it is another sidetracking as loved and performed by 'americans'.

The founding fathers were representatives to the We The People. It means in those times, every single member of We The People adhered to the views set out by the founding fathers. They were not autocrats, they did not speak on their own behalf.

The issue does not include only the founding fathers but every other member of We The People, whether they owned or slaves.

Slaves were not kept as slaves by the owners only but society as a whole. We The People could have marched on every slave owning places in the US to get the point matching their declaration.

It is quite useless to meet those people to know their behaviour. Which was not narrowed to the founding fathers only.

How does meeting 'americans' come in? Oh wait, it is another sidetracking as loved and performed by 'americans'.

Cheap offuscatory trick. Sidetracked? Made me laugh.

The founding fathers were representatives to the We The People. It means in those times

First backpedaling by this cheap propagandist. "In those times." Funny how this guy leaps backward and forward in time, conflating people "in those times" with people today. This is how meeting 'americans' comes in. Evading the question because it exposes the failed logics this guy likes to construct.

Here is the answer you fear to tell: you never met an 'american' that held slaves.

Sure, sure. Discarding quite easily the time reference enables your extrapolationary derangement.

It is quite useless to meet those people to know their behaviour.

It is quite impossible to meet those people because they are long dead.

Which was not narrowed to the founding fathers only.

Never said it was narrowed to the founding fathers only. You said that when telling:

'Americans' declared freedom an inalienable human right and kept human beings as slaves.

Declaring freedom an inalienable human right and keeping slaves sounds founding fatherish to me. From that you extrapolate derangedly on all 'americans'.

Telling outright that somebody reporting factually about the ffs owning slaves flings a handful of poop at them is very obvious.

More word games. Telling that some FFs owned slaves is like telling that water is wet. You think that somehow telling an obviousness lends support to your hate filled drooling about 'americans'. Might as well self justify your embitterment by saying fish are fished in the ocean.

Your disengruntled poop flinging is obvious. Too obvious. You try to make past times correspond to present day, but it is uncorrespondable when tasked to support your fantasies. But with Chinese citizenism citizens and their new start in history, facts commonly established for millenia have to be proven obvious facts once again.

Yours is a very cheap trick of disinformation, another example that 'debate' is dead in the Orient as more and more people can not discuss facts and have to sidetrack.

Never ever this kind of flawed methology of extending the singular behavior of long dead FFs to a present day entire continent is a robust scientific methodology.

That should void your delusional point about 'in those times' vs present day. But who cares? Propagandists like you enjoying their lies are common. Don't disturb while they are on masturbation.

PS: I don't really ranted on this guy (I should have done it more). I debunked all the propaganda this guy spewed out.

It is trademark of AnAnonymous to think that facts are only facts when they are acknowledged by Chinese citizenism citizens.

Reads like a statement of monopoly to me.

The opinion of one person is always one's own monopoly.

But, hey, it would be known by now if 'americans' were embarassed by contractions...

Contractions or contradictions? You can't speak the language, but you want to post on an English-speaking blog. You're defending a country that runs over protesting students with tanks? What's your point anyway? Clearly there's a huge difference between a country's government and its people.

I play chess on chess.com, almost daily. People from every other country in the world play on the site--except for ONE country. Guess which one?

China is the worst of the worst. Clean up your own roadside shit before you badger the rest of us with your shit.

Your country doesn't even have free internet. People eat cats and dogs. There are so many problems with China that I can't even begin to count them. What did your country ever do for the world? What did your country ever invent? Your literature sucks, your music sucks, and all of your people want American entertainment so badly that they have to copy it and steal it? You have more people than anyone else on the planet and not one bit of creativity, not one smidgen of self-respect?

I can't believe you're still here.

Of course, I suppose all of the faults with your country are Americans' responsibility, too? Doesn't the government there tell you lackeys how many kids you're allowed to have?

Considering reality is a good idea. You should do that before telling others to do it.

"This week is the 20th anniversary of the deadly seige in Waco."

Tyler, you lean more and more toward terrorist sympathy with such talk.

That's terrorists, bro!

CNBC saying "up to 15 dead" and this article says "up to 70 dead" a disparity of 55.  WTF!

Well clearly what is required here is LESS regulation so thesecompanies can make greater profits and LESS taxes so there are less firefighters to fight the blaze!

Maybe Texas shouldn't have pissed all that money up the wall on their new stadium. Still what do lives matter when there are 'fans' to please.

Has anyone considered it might be God himself punishing us for killing his 'son' David Koresh?

Now that would be a shock ending to that little story.

Ah fire, followed by explosion. I witnessed the detonation of 1kg of PE4 (C4) myself once, from a distance of about 2km, in the open air, with no casing. The glow left on my retina matched that from looking at the sun, and my ears hurt with the overpressure.

Does not surprise me at all. One kg is much C4.

Ammonium nitrate bombs generally need enhancing 5% fuel fire, and you need to confine the material in a pressure sealed vessel, detonating a primer and booster charge at the right points. This looked like a heat induced explosion to me. If it were caused deliberately, I would think that arson would have been enough.

In this great (Sarcasm) capitalistic system we live in, there is NO PROFIT in safety and maintenance.

Now that corporations own government, expect MANY more of these incidences.
