Obama Sends More Troops To Jordan, Preparing For "Stability Operations" In Syria

Tyler Durden's picture

Fresh from his humiliating defeat in the Senate to promote his pacifist gun-control agenda yesterday, in the name of the "90%" of course (who apparently need to pick their senatorial representative just a little more effectively), the Nobel Peace Prize winner has decided that guns just may be the right answer when it comes to promoting peace, or least his agenda abroad. WaPo reports that  the Obama administration has ordered additional U.S. troops to Jordan for possible chemical weapons control, humanitarian response or “stability operations” in Syria. "The new troops, a headquarters element of the 1st Armored Division based at Fort Bliss, Tex., will not greatly increase the number of U.S. forces in Jordan. About 150 troops were sent last year to help train Jordanian military and Syrian opposition forces. Some of those troops will remain, and the new arrivals will increase the total to more than 200."

So just your ordinary garden variety, vanilla regiment of heavily-armed US troops making landfall in a foreign sovereign which would prefer to have no US presence at all, but who cares what they think. Maybe as a sign of goodwill with the 90%, the Pacifist-in-Chief will order these latest troops to have no assault rifles or extended clips. As for what this latest US landfall means for the escalating Syria conflict, we hardly need to comment on that.

But in case we do, here is the WaPo:

The dispatch of a headquarters unit indicates a higher level of preparation for a possible expanded U.S. military role, including command and control capability for a larger force.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told Congress that he authorized the deployment last week to “improve readiness and prepare for a number of scenarios.”

Both Hagel and Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made clear in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee that President Obama has not ordered any U.S. military intervention in Syria.

“We don’t have a consensus on this issue . . . on what America’s role should be,” Hagel said.

Well, "we would" if we thought discovering some non-existent WMDs in Damascus would make Russia look away and allow the US entrance and the ability to secure the country so very critical for the passage of various key gas pipeline routes. Which of course, would reduce Russia's influence on Europe where it still has monopoly energy providing power, and where its full fury and anger at the Cyprus fiasco will be felt next winter when Germans get their heating bills.

But for now the US is stumped just how to escalate this particular conflict.

The deteriorating situation in Syria, where more than 70,000 people have died and millions have been displaced, appears to be pushing the administration closer to a decision. But a high level of uncertainty and disagreement over what to do was reflected in the contentious hearing Wednesday.

Dempsey testified several months ago that he agreed with senior national security officials who recommended arming the rebel military force. When asked by McCain whether he would still make that recommendation, Dempsey said the situation was “more complicated now.”

“My military judgment is that now that we’ve seen the emergence of al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham, and seen photos of weapons in the hands of those groups, I’m more concerned than I was before,” he said, referring to leading rebel factions that espouse extreme Islamist goals and have been linked to al-Qaeda by the U.S. government.

“If we could clearly identify the right people, I would support it,” Dempsey said.

But both Dempsey and Hagel said cohesion within the Syrian opposition has decreased in recent months, making military support more risky.

Translated: Russia continue to just say niet. But just in case they relent, the nobel prize winner shown below is ready to murder everyone in America's path toward Qatari natural gas pipeline liberation.

So when the Muslim Brotherhood creates a dictatorship and implements Sharia law, where will the freedom, justice and truth be?

What if they start massacaring Christian's as is happening in other parts of the Muslim world?  Will we go back to kill the same people we put in power in the name of "freedom, justice, and truth"?

Are the lives of our heroes worth wasting on backwater fiefdoms in the grip of religious and societal forces we have no control over?

I seem to remember another war when the President sent in a small number of "advisers". Within a few years, we had over half a million troops in country. It didn't end so well either. It took me three decades to get over the humiliation of that defeat. I now look at these sort of things  through different eyes. What a waste of lives {both sides}. The whole premise behind a civilian {the President} being Commander-in-Chief, is to reign in the military, and be slow to commit troops to battle. But men who have never been in combat don't seem to think twice about doing it, as long as it is somebody else' son, brother, or father. We are being led by cowards and gangsters. I don't see how it could be much worse.

Obama thinks he is acting as the de Facto president of the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda. He's arming them, organizing them, and helping them throw out the secular and Shia leaders, eg., Syria, Libya. He's helping them achieve their dream of re-creating the old Ottoman Empire which ended with British rule after WWI.

The Royal House of Saud is now completely surrounded and if they don't continue the petrodollar arrangement, they will not survive without capitulation to US protection. They are the modern equivalent of the precarious King Louis before the French Revolution. How's that for a big fucking gun to your head?

But I don't think Obama and Brenner have a clue of the depth of hatred muslims have for the West. Any arrangement is only a temporary convenience for the islamo-fascist factions and will not last. Benghazi was just a tiny taste.

Obama needs to give his Nobel Prize back. Nobody deserved it less.

It is not the Ottoman Empire per se but the Caliphate type of Islamic state in general. They could care less about it being a giant state or loose confederation of Islamic states as long as they are all unified under a single caliphate, that is the real aim of the Muslim Brotherhood. Obama most certainly does understand their depth of hate for the West. He holds that same hate in his heart for us. The man's ultimate goal is the destruction of the US any which way he can make it happen. Turn US against each other or turn the world against US. The man is the great divider and spreader of hatred.

As things currently stand yes. Nihilism only works in theory, it doesn't work in the real world. The great divider understands this and is doing everything possible to create environment for maximum nihilism so it collapses in on itself. Once that happens if someone doesn't kill him first then he gets to impose his dystopian socialist shithole of a prison future for the rest of us left standing. The preppers can think they can hide in farms armed to the teeth but they won't be able to hold out forever once it gets to that level. Frankly I think there will be an intervention with the US being declared a rogue state by the major world powers and then it gets interesting especially when the military has to decide to fight for US as a country in name only or US as an ideal. When they find out they've been lied to and the ideal they fight for is not what it is has been sold to them as then shit really hits the fan.

The armor will be on the battlefield shortly after it’s needed.

And the Christian Science Monitor revealed the overall strategy: “Even as the Pentagon draws down US troops in Afghanistan, it plans to base a sizable contingent of forces in nearby Kuwait – with the clear purpose of sending a signal to Iran." Iran, of course, is Israel's ultimate target, via Syria.

The Daily Mail reported last year that “currently, there are about 15,000 U.S. forces in Kuwait at Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base and Camp Buehring, giving the United States staging hubs, training ranges and locations to provide logistical support. …

“The report emphasized that the region is critical as a counterbalance to Iran, whose conventional military includes 350,000 ground forces, 1,800 tanks and more than 300 fighter aircraft. It also has ballistic missiles with the range to target regional allies, including Israel.

We're going to attack whoever Israhell wants us to attack.  It really IS that simple.  They want us to cull "militants" in Concentration Camp - Gaza?  So be it, our mostly 18-25 year olds will do it when our corrupt officers tell them to (I know, I was one of them in a country not too far away from Syria or Iran and just north of Kuwait) burn homes with White Phosphorous and shoot taxi cabs full of families with children because it "Might" be a car bomb even though they're just trying to leave and not get massacred by IsraMurikanz war dogs.

Israhell wants us to conduct "Stability Operations" in the West Bank and assist them with monitoring the myriad of checkpoints, road closures, and fences cutting off villages from their farmland and watering holes?  So be it I guess.

Israhell wants us to go into Syria because....well the fuck...because they WANT us to.  It really doesn't matter to them they will accomplish their goals and if it's young American boys taking the bullets and getting their limbs blown off and eyes blown out then what the fuck do they care?  It's not like Israeli taxpayers have to pay for their care and disability or the payouts to their families if WE die on their behalf.

It's not like Israhell has to send officers to the homes of young wives and crying mothers to tell them that their sons are not coming home to tell them "Your son....uh....died for....uh...America and freedom and shit.  Yeah man, your son was brave and shit even though I didn't know him.   Oh, but at least you get $400,000, hope you feel better"

Anyone who's not a frequent ZH reader, please begin to understand and wake the hell up.

Every single point you make, unfortunately, is exactly right. Most distressing to me was news yesterday that Israel was sending investigators to help the FBI locate the perpetrator of the Boston bomb killings. It already is well known that Israel has active spy operations in the United States and other areas where US interests are involved.

To combine this fact with sharing intelligence information that is an influence on the so-called “war on terror” throughout the world which has been responsible for widespread deaths of innocent foreign families and US servicemen, is an act of treason.

Turning America’s foreign policy and intelligence network over to the priorities of the Israeli government is to turn our own guns upon ourselves.

The dream of world government is escaping as the Eurozone dissolves.

And what’s more, the great American Empire is descending from its peak.

The consistent support of Israel by the American Empire in its United Nations votes, and in its disastrous Middle East wars fought on Israel’s behalf, have substantially reduced America’s leverage in the world, and have increased the chances for a loss of the reserve currency and diminished the chances of a world SDR currency because of the rising opposition to America’s arrogance and militarism in the world.

Following the interests of Israel has been a serious devastating blow to the American nation, but the imbecilic actions of the Federal Reserve to try and save the banking cartel’s power have contributed to the demise of the American Empire as well. Israeli policies favoring Israel, and War in the Middle East, are a critical part of the Fed’s monetary policy.

We are weaker because of financial tyranny and because our political officials are too weak and corrupt to stand for America-first priorities. But as this American Empire declines, the true American nation can re-emerge.

No disagreement there JR.  Imagine how great America would still be were we to not have run our affairs (both internally and internationally) on behalf of and at the behest of Israhell.

God bless the denizens of Concentration Camp Gaza and Apartheid Palestine on the West Bank.  May the current struggle end soon and allow you to prosper and live like the way your grandfathers did.

Obama is probably correct in assuming that 90% of the American people favor improvement in the background check laws.  Unfortunately, the way our Congress works today, the bill that was put to a vote was loaded with so much extra garbage, and the improvement in background checks was set up as unworkable.  Had a simple background check law been put forward, he would probably have gotten 90% approval in Congress.  The same thing happens with Hurricane Relief in New Jersey - no one is against that - yet the final bill includes pork barrel projects all over the country.

The Republicans may finally be learning, as they let this bill go far enough along to be an embarrassment to the Democrats - whereas usually it is the other way around.

The 90% figure is not credible; it is a cultural trick of the media to push loaded opinion polls in the direction they want to go. Also, the Senators are facing voters whose basic understanding is that this is further government restrictions on privacy, freedom, and security of one's home and country. The specifics as to what's in the gun bill are not as important to them.

All across the US, people understand that the State tried to expand gun control and it failed; to estimate that only 10% of the people are happy with this is not credible.

“Understand one thing. You can make laws against weapons but they will be observed only by those who don’t intend to use them anyway. The lawless can always smuggle or steal, or even make a gun. By refusing to wear a gun (in the old West) you allow the criminal to operate with impunity.” – Louis L’Amour

The same applies today, only the lawless with its growing tactics of TSA and other surveillance operations, torture techniques, assassinations and soon-to-come 100-mile-wide-surveillance border-drone iron curtain from within, is the State, a government that increasingly lives by Vladimir Lenin’s tenet that “One man with a gun can control 100 without one.”

It was the same Lenin who said “While the State exists, there can be no freedom; when there is freedom there will be no State.”

What’s going on in the USA with the attempts to outlaw guns in the hands of the citizenry fits in with Lenin’s Decalogue Manual to Seize Control of a Society “which he used in the 1917 Russian Re-Revolution (The October Surprise) usurping control from the original Russian Revolution which occurred earlier in the spring of that year”:

“10. Register everyone who has firearms, in order to confiscate them when the time comes, preventing them from opposing your revolution."

Except the plan is to use the healthcare system to confiscate guns this time and be a registry at the same time. Cuomo tipped his hand with the plan here in New York. When it comes to pyschotrophic drugs like Xanax and such the copies of the prescription slips have to be registered into a controlled substance database via barcodes on the them. Guess what is included, patient information not just the doctor prescribing it. What did Cuomo do, they checked the gun permit registrations against the controlled substance database and yanked the permits for anyone who showed up in both including people who had prescriptions written out for thinks like Xanax. No due process, no checking to see if they are mentally unfit. That is the real gun control system being put into place, it is already baked into obamacare. They started into with combat veterans on a national level already. This is how they are going to turn everyone into criminals they don't want to have guns and control the rest of populace from legally owning them. This is the fun dystopian socialist future we have to look foward to if we allow these control freaks to destroy this country and remold it in their socialist fantasy land they want.

“if we allow these control freaks…”

I couldn’t agree more, Dewey Cheatum. And your scenario is a frightening one; there’s no doubt that they intend to be aggressive on all fronts to keep Americans in line with their police-state/welfare-state agenda.

At the same time these aggressive moves are being made, Americans have their warning lights flashing. And from the comments I’m seeing, the future is not one of surrender but of a battle for our rights.

Only this week, one former official suggested Americans need to begin violating the gun laws, using concealed carry even where it is illegal because of their guaranteed second amendment rights.

The socialist agenda is apt to hit widespread civil disobedience. Pat Buchanan in one of his latest columns suggests homosexual marriage is in for widespread resistance and civil disobedience from Christians against this cultural icon from the left. To show you how far Obamacare will go to destroy the family and human life, there is no better example than Socialist President François Hollande of France who has approved adoption of small children by homosexual couples in light of proof of abuse.

Fighting back against the Left, a number of states are tightening abortion restrictions extensively and now a North Dakota law promises to drive the one-remaining abortion clinic (Fargo) out of the state.

One proposed detail in gun legislation was to require an inspector to check your home to see if your registered assault weapon is being properly stored and the inspection could come without warning. I have now heard many voices suggesting that it is time to stop registering the weapons and it is time to follow the Second Amendment law as it was written and as it was intended.

To submit to draconian control measures such as this, I can tell you, frankly, Americans will not do it.

Has there been any winner in American foreign policy this past decade, other than drone manufacturers, caterers, and foreign escort services?    Even if the US was built like a millipede, it would be running short of toes.

“Person of interest” to be deported after Obama had unscheduled meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister

http://www.glennbeck.com/2013/04/18/breaking-saudi-student-connected-to-...

UPDATE 10:50am ET: Joel Cheatwood, President & Chief Creative Officer for TheBlaze, told Glenn on the radio show: “Just got a note from one of our investigative reporters that she has been told that there is now discussion that they may not allow this man to be deported.”

On radio this morning, Glenn broke the news that Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi Student who was reported as a person of interest in the Boston Marathon bombing, is set to be deported under section 212 3B of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) – “Security and related grounds” – “Terrorist activities”.

An FBI source has told TheBlaze that the Saudi Student was “taken into custody”. This means, when we he was reported as a person of interest, he was actually a suspect the entire time.

An “event”, or file, was created on the student three days ago. The file contains his deportation record and the reason he is being deported. According to ICE the reason is section 212 3B –”Security and related grounds” – “Terrorist activities”. The student’s visa has been revoked.

The FBI said a file was started “just in case he was found to be connected to the crime,” however, the file shows he was scheduled to be deported. This was not precautionary, it was listed as “orders.” The file was immediately classified. Sources are telling TheBlaze the deportation order will be classified as well – requiring a FOIA to access it.

One agent told TheBlaze he believes a “voluntary” departure has been signed – that means the Saudi student could be out of the country as early as today. While the official story was going to be “he wanted to go home,” the student was actually being deported.

TheBlaze has been told that by a source that this “looks like they were trying to make this a ‘lone wolf’ crime, so the Saudi government would be spared embarrassment and the U.S. would avoid explaining how a terror cell was active when we had AQ on the run.”

One source at the FBI and another at the Saudi Embassy referred to the student as connected to an important Saudi family.

A source told TheBlaze that the FBI believes the Saudi student is tied to 2 to 3 more people.

Steve Emerson from the Investigative Project on Terrorism appeared on “Hannity” last night and revealed more information on the Saudi National.

Someone on the inside needs to get a picture of this kid in lock up out to the public or float a family or such picture of him before this gets buried. People need to see if he matches up the pictures out there from the survellience cameras before it gets swept under the rug.

Don't be fooled by the smoke and racist mirrors. It wasn't a Saudi (the "brown" scapegoat the right loves so much) who bombed Boston. It was a purebred white cracker.

Speaking of Waco for all you tinfoil hat types is it gas igniting in the air or a missile being launched at the tanks right before the explosion. The guy who shot this is probably lucky to be alive. It is pretty fucked up but it does catch an anomaly right before the thing explodes.

Got to love Obama, and yet our failed policies won't change the end result either way:Let Syria burn and Hashemite Jordan fall, keep away and watch the Saudis arm the Salafis and send them to Syria Lebanon and Egypt, hands off Iran as it acquires nukes and clashes with Israel while Turkey and the Saudis go nuclear, observe Egypt's economic collapse and Russian naval buildup in the Med, await the Euro's demise and Japan's conflict with N. Korea and China and hope for long-term prosperity? What's the constructive formula that delivers?

I am disgusted with the hypocrisy of the American government.  The Syrian president was pushing for talks, and the West prevented dialog as a mean of diffusing tension.  Instead we have a Nobel Peace Prize president supporting foreign backed terrorists, who fight for democracy from those great democratic states like Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.

Obummer decry the Boston terrorist attack but have no qualms about dropping bombs in developing country killing civillians.  How many civillians has died as a result of American war mongering, yet we are supposed to be outrages by the Boston bombing?  I know American lives are worth more than those darkies overseas, but at least be honest about.  The shear hypocrisy is unbelievable.

The Noble Prize committees are run by radically liberal lefties, and the Noble Peace Prize has been given to many mass murderers. It is infamous to receive one.

No doubt there are a few Green Beret elements from 5th SFG out of Campbell, KY and a few PSYOP (MISO nowadays) teams out of Bragg to guage the situation in the refugee camps, and prep the battlefield with all manner of propaganda and intelligence gathering.  May God help the people of Syria and the West Bank.  Concentration Camp Gaza could use a little help too, the only thing those folks are trying to do is live normal, dignified lives.
