Breaking news from the seige: the suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev is in custody as of ~8:42 pm. As WaPo reports, he is alive but badly injured, as there was a lit fire in boat where was is hiding.

Authorities captured a 19-year-old college student suspected in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings after one of the biggest manhunts in U.S. history paralyzed an entire metropolis.
Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents converged on a house in the Boston suburb of Watertown late Friday, and apprehended Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of two brothers alleged to have exploded two homemade bombs in downtown Boston, killing three people and injuring more than 175. Images of the suspect were shown all day on national TV and online and online.
Authorities halted public transportation, closed schools and advised residents to stay locked indoors for much of Friday during the manhunt.
Mr. Tsarnaev had escaped capture after leaving behind his older brother, 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in a firefight with police early Friday. The brothers, carrying an arsenal of explosives, fired guns and threw pipe bombs in the fight after an overnight crime spree that left dead an officer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, authorities said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 at the request of the Russian government, but it found no suspicious evidence and closed the matter, a U.S. official said.

One thing we should all learn from this: People in Boston were forced to sit in their homes, unarmed and terrified that this guy would show up at their door. If he had shown, they would have certainly been killed. NEVER LET THEM TAKE YOUR GUNS!
Local police, FBI, SWAT etc. are just there to clean up after the fact. It doesn't matter. The deed was done and the intended effect accomplished: distract the masses from the markets for a few days, allow for more "anti terror" legislation and bank bailouts.

So the older brother was interviewed by the FBI in 2011. A good way to get your fall guy. Just when I was back to thinking this may truly be full on legit I read that and am back to having serious doubts. Doesn't explain the delay though of getting their pictures out. That's so un-FBI like when it comes to staged events although that may be the point as they realize their playbok needs to be tweaked.
Regardless though this is still one of the most overhyped events I can remember given the limtied damage and the monster coverage of it. I feel dirty taking part in it.
How much you want to bet the authorities who did the house to house searching will be debriefed about all the possible violations to the State they witnessed? And then measures WILL be taken. Maybe not directly, but they will be noted.

I mean it was the Boston marathon after all, lots of people from lots of different places, they could have slipped out with the crowd during all the panic and confusion and been half way to a non extradition country by the time those photos hit the news..

I note not a single person in the entire prestitute, whore mainstream media had the wherewithal to ask that one simple question...
why didn't they run? they had an out, an event that large there was no way the BPD or the feds or whoever would have been able to contain them, not if they had "no prior warning" as they claim and didn't even have them tagged as suspects until at least 24 to 48 hours later.

Twice now. The first time was when OBL was "killed". Then, last night. Where do all the US flags come from. On OBL "death" night, I watched the announcement. The instant it was over, there were hundreds of college age kids all waving huge flags outside the WH. This happened the instant it was over, around 11:20 pm. And then, last night. Where do these flags come from? And why did everyone sing the national anthem last night. This was a local event.
It was staged. And they put a major American city under martial law for one suspect. And today, NBC reports on the all the extra security at various events, and concludes "This is the new normal".
