Falsely Identified "Boston Bombing" Suspect Found Dead
The amateur detective sleuths on 4Chan, Reddit and other social sites were so eager to demonstrate their investigative prowess in the information vacuum days following the Boston Bombing, they managed to identify virtually everyone who appeared even slightly tanned and/or had a backpack as a potential suspect. Sadly, the game, as well-meaning as it may have been, just turned lethal for one of the people who were falsely identified, as NBC just confirmed that Sunil Tripathi, 22, a former student at Brown University has been found dead in the Providence River.

Police in Providence pulled a man’s body from the Providence River on Tuesday, and authorities said it is “very possible” that it is Sunil Tripathi, 22, a former Brown University student who has been missing since mid-March.
Providence police Lieutenant Joseph Donnelly said Tuesday night that “it’s very, very possible” that the body could be Tripathi’s, but also said authorities will not know for sure until the medical examiner’s office in Providence identifies the body Wednesday morning. Donnelly said Tripathi’s family has not been notified of the body’s recovery.
Donnelly said the body was found in the river behind the Wyndham Garden Providence Hotel at around 6 p.m. The coach of Brown’s rowing team, which practices in that area, saw the body floating in the water and called police, Donnelly said.
Tripathi was last seen in his apartment on Angell Street in Providence around 11 a.m. on March 16.

Reddit forum apologized to Tripathi's family for naming him as the suspect accused of setting off a series of explosions near the marathon's finish line. "I'd like to extend the deepest apologies to the family of Sunil Tripathi for any part we may have had in relaying what has turned out to be faulty information," the moderator wrote in a statement. "We cannot begin to know what you're going through and for that we are truly sorry.
A woman who went to high school with Tripathi wrongfully named him as one of the men wanted by the FBI. "Several users, twitter users, and other sources had heard him identified as the suspect and believed it to be confirmed," the statement continued. "We were mistaken."
Reddit's general manager, Erik Martin, also apologized to the family.
The accusation added Tripathi to a list of others mistaken for the suspects, or targeted, based on their skin color. Last week, a Bangladeshi man from the Bronx was beaten out of retaliation for the marathon attack, which he had nothing to do with.
Perhaps it is time to reevaluate the crowdsourced approach to "solving" crimes? Perhaps it is also time to remember the whole "innocent until proven guilty" saying, as meaningless as it may be in our day and age.

The 'game' turned lethal? There's no reason at this point to conclude that it's related to his death in any way.
So, given that he had been missing for a month, did the Coroner say anything about how long he had been dead, or how long the body had been in the water? Like everything else related to this bombing, the information presented doesn't make any sense....

No word yet on cause of death? Time or date of death? Isn't ZH jumping the gun blaming the "amateur sleuths" for his death? I think it's appropriate for Reddit to give condolences to grieving family. Classy. But to be held accountable in any fashion is utter BS. Is it not a forum where people gather to discuss things? To not look into the mysterious disappearance for any connection would be stupid.
It's one thing if the authorities target someone who is innocent such as Richard Jewel, it's another for a forum that has people discussing and examining all angles of a freakin bombing.

But several people commented that there were billboards in the area with his name and photo on it - his family were trying to find him.
This article should make far clearer that the corpse is over a month old and there could be no retributive aspect to the death regarding the bombings.

Funny people apologize only when someone is dead. Did all these people contact or publicly apologize to all the others they named? I'm guessing not. Why apologize to people and their families if said people are alive. That's just silly since it could actually mean something then. Do so for someone who died when their death most likely had nothing to do with your accusations.

First the Craft contractors myth. The people on the scene were not Craft International but National Guard actually. Specifically the National Guard Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team. Supposedly it was the one in New York called up but they also have a 1st unit WMD CST who are based out of Boston.

They didn't respond but were doing a 'drill' at for a what it is worth was 666 Boylston Street which is the address for the Boston Public Library aka where the 3rd controlled detonation took place. The address number was changed years ago but that is the original address number. There is plenty of circumstantial evidence for this, not going to repost all the sources but you have bomb dogs spotted and law enforcement telling people to not panic they were doing a drill.

What is interesting is the guy in wheelchair. That guy wasn't involved in the explosions at all and is actually an actor who was most likely part of the drill they were running. Did the media just get it wrong through incompetence or did the DOD make sure their state mouthpiece the AP run the story to influence the public. I am going to prove it also. Follow the information. First the questions asked in the picture all valid questions.
The guy in the picture in the wheelchair was said to be Jeff Bauman though as you can clearly see he is really disabled double amputee army vet in that pic.

First anomaly is the hair, The guy in the wheelchair has curly hair he has straight hair. The doesn't add up forget color. Next is you notice no well wishers from his friends. If you had your legs blown off you'd be getting sympathy posts on your FB page. Notice not one mention about him getting his legs blown off, also the runner group if this happened to a member of your group there should be posts about it and the usual we need to run one for the gipper special event rah rah shit that goes along with this things. You know they most likely also participated in the marathon so he would have not been the only one running in that group on the day. Not a mention of the marathon or his legs being blown off and well wishers for him. The guy didn't get his legs blown off and the person in wheelchair is not him, the media is running a lie either being used for misdirection by the DOD for "public diplomacy" via the state department, just happened to catch a the drill and ran with the picture not knowing or some other reason but the fact is the story being told on him is not the real story. It is not Jeff Bauman.
