Guest Post: Was Israel’s Attack Against Syria Really An Attack Against Iran?
Submitted by Charles Kennedy via OilPrice.com,
Over the weekend Israel carried out two air strikes against Syrian positions within 48 hours. The first attack targeted a shipment of missiles thought to have been on their way to Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, and the second was an airstrike against a military research centre on the outskirts of the capital Damascus.
Syria has now threatened retaliation, in what could lead to a widespread regional conflict. The Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mekdad told CNN that the airstrikes were considered an act of war and that the Syrian government would retaliate in their own time.
Israel has threatened to carry out strategic strikes against Syrian positions, as the two year old civil war has increased the chance that Hezbollah, or other dangerous militant groups, obtain new weapons and then use them against Israel.
Israel believes that since 2006 Hezbollah has increased its weapons stocks and obtained far more sophisticated missiles which offer a greater range. Israel is deeply worried that Hezbollah will launch attacks, and has deployed two Iron Dome missile defence systems in the north.
Iran is a strong supporter of Assad’s regime in Syria, and is deeply involved in the efforts to repel the rebel forces. Israel has long voiced its desires to attack Iran in order to force them to end their nuclear program before they achieve the capability to create nuclear weapons. This attack against Syria could be viewed as an indirect attack on Iran.
Jonathan Spyer, a political scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre in Herzliya, Israel, suggested that the Israelis only attacked because Assad and his allies are too busy with the Syrian civil war to carry out any reprisal.
“Israel is taking a calculated risk that Assad, Iran and Hezbollah are right now fighting a war against the Syrian rebels and probably don’t want to open up a second front against a far more formidable enemy,” he said.

All I saw of the attack on the alleged 'missiles', was a bunch of unexploded artillery shells and mortars, just bread and butter army weapons.
And I'm kinda sus on Israeli attackers claims too.
The alleged 'research center' was reported by Syria to be an army installation.
Another Israeli war crime, what a surprise.
As I see it the Israelis king-hit the Syrian Army here, that was the target, straight out opportunistic aggression, as far as I can tell.
Yeah, but watch: this isn't over yet by a country mile.
-Chumblez.
Actually according to this very informative and incredibly unbiased website... Israel was actually attacking Israel!
Seems that G-d gave his Chosen People the entire region including ALL of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and even great big gobs of Turkey.

Unfortunately the legal documentation was destroyed in the 9/11 attack on Silversteins towers...
You mean those two buildings that were about to have to be 'gutted' to conform to asbestos standards [involving billions in sunk costs], that miraculously dodged that scenario & collected double indemnity on the insurance?... I hate it when that happens...
Maybe it was an indirect strike at Iran.
If so, how will Iran respond vis-a-vis Syria?

Tomorrow is Jerusalem Day in Israel:

When using this logic of what the attack means, bring it home by saying that Israel also attacked Russia and China.
The worldnews thread on Reddit has people claiming to have contact with individuals in Damascus, also first person testimony about interactions within the last day.

Lame Cherry said Israel has less of a problem with Assad than the Al Queada "rebel" shit which is backed by Amerika's muslim. The word is these Syrians were out to take out Assad.
It is true: it was an aggression against both Syria and Iran. Both of them did not expect this development.
Assad is fighting a funny war: taking prisoners and without mobilizing his population. Any war must be total: no prisoners and inflicting max human and economic casualties on your enemy.
The present situation is very straightforward: either they are playing to be crushed and humiliated as Saddam and Qaddafi or the next time hit back as hard as they can making aggressor think about starting a total war. Remember also that the last time Hezbollah stopped the Israeli aggression cold.
As for Iran, either it gets its own nuclear weapon capabilities or it will be in a deep shit. N. Korea clearly showed that it was ready to fight and America complained that these busters “did not look for cooperation”.
The historical fact. When Nazis were just 6 miles from the Kremlin, the Voce of Moscow transmitted just one single message for 24 hours per day: "Death to Hitler and death to German invaders!”
PS
How many people think that America is ready to start a war with a nuclear power that is ready to nuke America and its Zionist masters?
Are you posting from your parent's basement,product of multiple generations of consanguinity?
Barack Hussein Obama is not a "muslim" ... being but a mind-controlled minion and creation of the cabbalist-satanist coalition to bring down Merika, he has no 'religion'...
and \word on the street\ .... "freddie" is merely the controlled "anithesis" to their talmudist 'thesis' ... a sayanim tasked with maneouvering the dials of the dialectical materialist machine sionism uses to con the dupes.

Russian media reported that 300 Syrian soldiers had been killed and hundreds more wounded in Sunday’s attacks alone.
And the Rapture herd can't wait to have the rock band U238 transport them to heaven, and see their lead singer, who has a face that shines with the power of a 1,000 suns.
bullish for US youth employment.
Heard this straight from the source ... on PBSs' frontline. The rebel, militant, Al Quada, whatever you want to call him said basically 'the United States et al are using us to weaken and distract Assad so they can come in here after we do their job for them, they don't care about us'.
Here are the details:
Israeli forces effectively acted as air support for US-backed Islamist opposition militias around Damascus. The opposition Damascus Military Council issued a statement shortly after the bombings Sunday calling on its fighters to put aside their differences and mount focused attacks on Syrian troops.
The attacks come amid a debate in Washington over how the Obama administration should escalate its war in Syria, given the failure of its proxy forces to topple the Syrian regime. The New York Times on Sunday described this as “the most urgent foreign policy issue of [Obama’s] second term.”
The methods being considered testify to the politically criminal character of the undertaking. They include either giving more weapons to the US-backed opposition, which is dominated by the Al Qaeda-linked Al Nusra Front, or initiating outright US hostilities. The latter option includes launching US attacks on Syrian aircraft and air defenses to set up a “no-fly zone” inside the country, or invading Syria with US troops based in Jordan or Turkey.
There is every indication that the Israeli strikes were a trial run for possible US air strikes on Syria. Though US and European officials have reportedly discussed launching attacks to start a no-fly zone, Washington has until now refrained from organizing them out of concern over Syria’s air defense systems.

In other news, the Nobel peace prize winner told graduates at Ohio State not to be “cynical” about government and politics.
The World Socialist Web Site? Really dude? Have you read any of the crapola they report on that thing? They think Bath House Barry is some kind of war mongering capitalist imperialist. Their glasses are so rose colored they can't see straight. Please don't send people there to get any objective reporting.
Mainstream media in the US are cheerleaders for every war. Has any US media mentioned Syrian casaulties from Sunday's attack? WSWS has opposed every war including the Libyan invasion. Their coverage of wars is superior to any western mainstream media.
Please direct us to the nearest "objective reporting" shelter Professor.
The NY Times backing Obama's Al Qeada to declare a war on a country not bothering anyone? Syria is not a threat to anyone.
These f***king NWO/CFR/Bilderberg/Drug Cartel - Bushes/Clinton/O-Muslim doing their nation building shit.
Serbia, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria and other countries. They killed thousands of innocents and Afghanistan is about keeping the heroin flowing. F them. Reagan and Carter never did this shit.
lol wtf do you expect the NY times to do?
That is like these ass clowns that yell "how does the fed not know that QE is hurting, not helping!!??"
Do you expect the NY Times to out Obummer?
Do you expect the fed to stop QE and admit they screwed up?
Do you expect the banks to volunteer re enacting glass steagall?
Do you expect CNBC to tell you that you should be selling stocks and buying physical PM's?
Apparently people expect the establishment to just admit wrongdoing and voluntarily blow their brains out. Not gonna happen. Remember that at all times and it will help keep everyone's mental faculties in order. This might take a while.

Reagan did in Central America, though I am not sure about Carter.
Reagan did it elsewhere and for Iran. Iran-Contra ring a bell? It is not just heroin they need to keep flowing. Through their channels.
"The rebel, militant, Al Quada, whatever you want to call him said basically 'the United States et al are using us to weaken and distract Assad so they can come in here after we do their job for them, they don't care about us'."
The US has been using proxies and hanging them out to dry for decades. Look at how we used the jihadists and Afghans to take on the Soviets and then walked away when the Russians left. We've done the same to other groups all over - in Laos, Vietnam, Africa..... Hell, we supported Saddam Hussein in Iraq to balance out Khomein's Iran (after the blwoback ther ousted out puppet Shah). BinLaden and AlQuaeda were serving US intersts for ages (and very quietky in Central Asia and Cina where they were involved with the Urghirs - but shhhhhh nobody is supposed to know abut that).
It was just a bunch of pussies on a playground beating up on some punk because they know they can get their big hillbilly strong retarded oaf friend [the United States], to back them up if it all goes wrong...
Is the internet still cut off in Syria? Are they under attack? Has anyone sent an email with any of this info the last two weeks to Putin?
For all I know, the Syrians still have yet to be notified that Marcus Antonius gave their land, as a gift, to Cleopatra...
I gave a piece of Turkey to my girlfriend but it got me nothing in return.
Who does Syria buy [Primary] Telephone/Internet service from? Think about what US Subsidy programs taxpayer money supports to supply ObamaPhone services in the USA. You’ll find your answer on Syria blackout provided sub-contracted services.
I’m a Ohio Bell child whose father was too integrate all Bell telephone globalization infrastructure services into Iran. My mother said no. You know the ending of that story if we had moved there.
Google: Ayatollah Khomeini.
I always defend Iran because they were kind to my father. Most importantly, they’re a Persian culture, not Islamic. US TV media always fails to mention that.
So the Iraq oil was so tasty, but how does Iranian oil taste?
They have the 2nd largest nat.[blue gold] gas wells in existence besides having been one of the top five largest fossil [black gold] fuel producing reserves. Remember: they haven't been working the fields much in the past 5 years depleting their vast reserves!

Answer: No
It don't help that modern day apache's or "Jews" think they are Gods chosen and that modern day main stream, blow dried, makeup wearing Christian leadership is preaching to their flock the same message. Last time I read the New Testamant the Apostle were calling out the Jews for killing their own King not kissing their ass, I read another place where God told a phophet of old to marry a whore just to show how fucked up Israel was, the more things change the more they stay the same. This whole "poor Israel" and "we have to help Gods chosen" horse shit being presented as truth is, well, horse shit.
I guess it helps when you write the narrative [and/or take an active & overly zealous role in re-writing history]...
~~~
I swear to God I was was watching the Hitler Channel [History Channel] the other day & they were doing this piece on "Who Discovered America" [instead of Columbus]... OK... So they start doing this thing on a timeline & go through all the scenarios [which went, more or less in this backwards order]...
- Chinese who sailed junks in the 1300's
- Vikings who came over in longboats around 1100
- Polynesians who sailed in con-Tiki rafts around 1000
- St. Brendan [Irish monk] who came over in some skin boat around the same time
Then, of course... drumroll... [I shit you not]... THE HEBREWS who, after the 2nd fall of King Solomon's Temple, marched across Babylon, packed themselves into boats, sailed for 500 days through the Persian Gulf, the straits of Hormuz, the Indian Ocean, across the Pacific, then hoofed it across the entire continental North America, [& here's the best part of all] mingled with some native Americans and BECAME what is now the Cherokee Indian tribe... In this 'reportage', they went as far as to leave all 'other' evidences [of Chinese anchors, rune stones, carvings, stone masonry, etc. dangling]... Yet when it came to the Hebrew/Cherokee story [which conveniently pre-dated EVERYTHING], they went to a DNA labratory & interviewed a doctor [named 'Greenspan' no less], about the SCIENTIFIC proof [but in the end came up inconclusive]...
So there you have it people... Those wacky 'golden calf worshipping' Hebrews discovered America!
why burn the books when you can re write em?
fonz... It's my speculation that the Library of Alexandria never burned down [or, if it did, it was just an ancient version of a false flag & the info was hustled off into proprietary hands]...
~~~
But what the hell do I know?... Hell ~ I forgot the last punchline to the above story... That 20,000 years ago, during the ice age, some Iberian tribes navigated along the polar ice shelves, reached the eastern part of North America, and eventually came into contact with the ones who'd come across from the Bering Straits region & collectively became the Clovis Indians...
Now THAT, I can somewhat believe, due to the numerous 'Clovis' culture remnants scattered all over the place...
There's only one MYSTERY about the Clovis... How could they have possibly existed if the bible says the world is only 6,000 years old [j/k]...
Of course ~ my speculation is that the Clovis Indians drove Hummers & Escalades [which contributed to global warming, which made the polar ice caps melt away]... ROTFF
Maybe the Clovis Indians actually quarried the Indiana limestone [that was eventually used to construct the Marriner Eccles building], and did some tribal dance which infused it with special powers so that it could, some years later, print money all by itself...
"There's only one MYSTERY about the Clovis... How could they have possibly existed if the bible says the world is only 6,000 years old?"
Geez, that would pre-date the Brooklyn Bridge.
Francis you are out of my league. Just tell me if you like Mercado Libre here or if I missed the boat. Thanks.
(and I'm still pissed about the khaki's thing)
khaki's are only problematic when worn too short and/or too tight? what's there to worry about?
Columbus had a maternal Jewish great grandmother so clearly he did not do anything notable.....btw Francis I counted 5 Jewish fed chairman so far.....checking with my rabbi on some questionable ones......
kito ~ trust me... I went through this before on another thread [because somebody pressed me on it & I was compelled to back up my speculation]... I'm just going off the top of my dome here, but the number is something like 17 out of 22... It even came down to an argument about 'Volcker', who is technically NOT Jewish, but his strong ties in with the Rothschilds puts him in that category of [Windsors, Morgans, Rockefellers, Bushes, Clinton's, etc. who signed onto the program and are 'de-facto' tribesmen]...
~~~
Anyway... I'm like General Patton... I don't like fighting for the same real estate twice...
"Anyway... I'm like General Patton... I don't like fighting for the same real estate twice..."
Dude you puke the shame shit every day..What are you talking about...like Patton...lol stupid goy...
Au contraire...
~~~
I don't write the news... I didn't bomb Syria... I didn't print any money... I didn't convene at Jeckyl Island... I didn't hit the USS Maine, or Ft. Sumter, or the Lusitania, or Pearl Harbor, or the Gulf of Tonkin... I was half way around the world [in a hardware store] when 9/11 happened...
No... I don't make news happen... But more importantly... I don't like it when these news events do happen, which have suspicious origins, which are subsequently fed to the public in a scripted narrative...
My only role is to question that scripted narrative... Coincidentally ~ It often leads to the same place...
~~~
Fuck ~ I don't even have to be doing anything for it to come up and blindside me... In the above story... I was just mindlessly watching that story on 'Columbus'... Nothing better to do... Not looking for trouble... When ~ all of a sudden... HEBREWS jump themselves into the storyline out of the blue... I was like, 'WTF'?...
FS ~ that last para made me chuckle really hard :D
Read real hiistory -I finally researched the matter and concluded Columbus was an evil motherfucker -his treatment of the native Americans was cruel, barbaric and sadistic. He was a psychopathic mass murderer and barbarian. He cut off the hands of those who would not meet their quota of gold and would have enslaved them all if Queen Isabella was not disgusted by his actions - This is even referenced (mildly) in wikipedia.
aaaaah, out first crony capitalist, from small things come..........
Sounds like the Book of Mormon in 1st draft, just a few of the names were changed to protect the guilty.
So the mormons were right?
according to the market the moron's were right.
Yeah, I heard this from these two dudes who came to my house wearing white shirts, ties and black slacks. i think they called these pelagic hebrews kneefites...
I would not be surprise if one side was supplying weapons to most Syrian factions. Destabilized Syria serves Israel and Saudis. I don't see how Assad gets stronger. He remembers what happened to Qaddafi and Saddam.
ME destabilization in every country serves Israel and Saudis.
And Russia.....and Venezuela....and every other country that sells more expensive oil as a result......
Qaddafi, Saddam and now Assad. Once BFFs - now not so much.
And what happens with a destabalized Syria? I don't know.
UN says US-backed Opposition, not Syrian Regime, used Poison Gas
No, it was an attack to help Assad, Israel attacked troops turning on Assad.
Evidence?
That video doesn't address this as evidence RE the question. That's a general regional strategic theory that can mean anything you want it to mean in this context.
Lebanons' Hezbollah? Kurdish rebels leaving western Turkey,... returning back to northern Iraq for grand pow-wow? Why would Israel stir-the-pot so close to a more moderate Iranian regime election once Ahmadinejad is retired into obscurity?
does anyone else on here get a side ad of their local politician getting congratulated for thier awesomeness? I can handle being tempted by Latin american hotties but the last thing I want to see on here is my local politician staring at me.
My choices are for full-sized cutting edge beauty products and some greaser who says his stock picks go up 99% of the time ( I think it might be robotrader in his new post ZeroHedge troll life ......the cutting edge beauty product pusher that is) .
Doesn't look like we have a lot of Israeli fans here. OK I can relate, but you can't blame them if they are a little nervous about Bath House Barry having their back. How did that work out for our Libyan Ambassasador?
I would bet all my gold on a war in the middle east by mmmm August.
Define war........these days Americans are inured to the word war...war on drugs...war on terrorism...war on poverty....I'm not sure what it means anymore......
It means your intention to create more of something.
By that definition we could sure use some war on peace......
I had a joke but it was not funny. Have a good one. I'm crashing.
Sleep tight and don't let the gold bugs bite.....
We gold bugs don't bite. We just gnash our teeth a lot these days.
The US never declared war on Iraq and that was a decade ago and no new wars have been declared since
Agree that the word war is only invoked now on domestics as in war on drugs, war on bullying, war on big sodas, etc.
I'm getting old.
Can we just neutron nuke the whole region to get the oil?
Start the nuking process with Tel Aviv!
I am so tired of the Crusades, can we move on?
If there wasn't oil there - which the modern food system depends upon - it wouldn't be a problem.
Can we move Jerusalem to the middle of South Dakota?
How about Madagaskar? That was the original agreement between Hitler and the zionists. South Dakota is a nice State -why ruin it?
South Dakota?
Next thing you know you'd have Netanyahu's face on Mt. Rushmore... Then ~ probably go about building settlements in Iowa...
The Israeli Air Force was over their targets before the Syrian air raid warnings went off. Bombs first, sirens later. Doesn't say much for the Syrian ( or Russian) air defense system. Don't know what Assad can do it about it. He can't spare manpower for any ground confrontation and his air force is no match for Israel. Hezbollah could do some rocketing of Israel in retaliation but they have to watch their backs now too because Lebanese and Syrian Sunnis militias are fighting them now.
Alternate theory is that it was 155s. Less risk than flyin' vs SAMs.
Iran is openly stating their willingness to get involved, as of yesterday, in a "training" capacity for the Syrian military.
The Syrians said they would not do that. Well, not yet anyway.
But if this arcs up into a bigger conflict (like it is doing), it will become like little England facing-off with Hitler, while begging the yanks to intervene.
Syria will eventually ask the Iranians to come in, if this continues, and maybe Russia as well, and the Iranians are actually offering today to do just that - just short of actual combat.
Remember how that worked out in North Korea's case, with the Russians and Chinese, during 1951?
There is a terrible scope here for an on-going regional escalation.
For one thing, Israel is going to do everything it can to bring about the circumstances in which Iran will get heavily bombarded.
That's how to be viewing all of this, that is their #1 Strategic Aim.
And this is what all the ADL sock puppets are going to be manipulating and clamoring to produce.
The Israelis are hypocrites. Hezbollah = threat = sympathy = money. They support this. Always have.
If there is no perceived or marketable threat, Israel loses money.
That simple.
Not just any money, but OUR money ... for a country that just joined the OECD rich countries club.
No other OECD country receives lavish financial aid from the U.S.
But not one politician will call BS on this stinking shakedown. The Lobby buys their silence.
My thought from the get go! Israel probably has hit Iranian targets in Syria. Iranian personel train and fight with some Syrian units. Iranian special military equipment aid Assad's military to keep fighting. Most likely the dead in the strike were Iranians, or Iranian equipment and Syrian troops.
Israel has no major nation left in the Middle East that is a real nation. Not tribal, but national, large, economically fairly strong and big. The only indelendent nation not under USA and Israeli control or occupation? Answer? Iran.
Sooner or later Iran will be destroyed, leaving Israel alone as a major power in the region. Turkey is NATO, Egypt is falling apart and most others are in tribal chaos.
Any evidence of Iranian 'Syrian' combat units? I haven't seen any.
I know the Iranians have trained Hezbollah for years, and I know Iranian advisers have been present in Syria for months now, but active combat forces, probably not. Not yet, anyway.
The Iranians know the Israelis have to conjure some means to get the US to soundly bombard Iran in a very big way. And the Israelis and Americans and Arabs all know that if they get too overtly aggressive, then the Iranians may as well just go-nuclear. Or they may borrow / lease a bomb from a close buddy, maybe even test one of them. That would put the wind up everyone and clear their minds.
I get your point "Element". The thing is, Iranian military forces are not a unified command as we would view the US military. The Iranian have acknowledged Iranian Special Units on the ground in Syria. There are also Iraqi Shia who have come over to Syria and joined non-regular Government forces. Iranians come over the way along with the offical Iranian troops. Iran and Syria are bound by treaty of mutual defense.
The west, i.e. NATO was rubbing their hands in glee almost two years ago when they predicted Assad was finished and the rebels had taken most of the country. The rebels have just been handed a big ass kicking as of late and Assad is still there two years after NATO said they had gotten rid of him.
The proof is that the US now wants to talk. Before all they wanted was war. That is why Kerry went to see Russia's Lavrov. Lavrov told Kerry that if he wants Syria he was going to have to win some battles there and not lose them like as of late.
Sorry for the delayed reply.
Fair enough points, but it's already slipped past that, and quickly now, going to another level. Hezbollah have not voluntarily gotten involved, they have been dragged into this kicking and screaming for months, but now they're fully involved, against all better judgement as they have little choice now, and there's going to be a horrible escalation right throughout central western Syria, and right back into Lebanon proper, and this will rip Lebanon apart ... again. It's going to be one frightful bloody-mess.
I seriously hope Sunni and Shia both take a deep breath and step-back and try to do some talking, and to think better of getting into it like this, because this is not going to put a happy complexion on the first half of the 21st century, if they don't. If these guys are all so keen of prayer all the time, they better start praying for some leaders with actual wisdom, or they're all going to make a living hell for themselves. The reality is they really are totally brainwashed with all the prophet this and the prophet that, and the 12th Imam koolaide, so I don't hold a lot of hope for them. And we have to remember they're demographically young, and breeding like rabbits into a region of decreasing prospects, and intensifying desperation, through a gathering global depression.
That's much of why US and Russians are having this face-to-face. The way to diffuse the 'religious' grave-yard-spiral into a major regional conflict is to defuse the Syrian civil war (and also to make Israel shut the hell up and stop inciting further war), because like you say, USA etal. are not getting much of what they wanted. Yes the Syrian State is weakened, but not by that much, and what will come from all this hatred and revenge lust will be so much more dangerous.
Truth is, the West needs Iran to be stable, just to exert a (relatively) calming influence, to try and keep a lid on the sectarianism, or it can quickly turn into a much larger and longer war. They also need Iran to keep Hezbollah in check.
But Israel's current leadership attitude and behavior is running counter to the Western and also Russian interest here. And also Turkey has been stirring the pot-of-war waaaaay too much, they need to be told, by the big boys, to knock it the hell off, or else Turkey will drag Europe into something they really shouldn't want a go anywhere near.
One way or another, in the end Israel has to (in partnership with them) arrive at terms of co-existence with Iran, directly, and live with that peacefully. And that means actually resolving the Palestine issue, for real, or else they will be fighting it out, in the most disruptive and destructive way possible, for many, many years.
If you want to know what's going on in the Middle East read Pepe Escobar's columns.
Amen "JenkinsLane"! I read him and watch him on RT talk shows. He was on RT today and kicked ASS on a guest expert on Syria from the US RAND think tank! Pepe knows his shit!
They sure know how to control the world!
The Shah of Iran had a new 100 (or 200? my memory fails) riyal note issued in 1978 that featured the star of David. The blowback forced the Iranian Central Bank to stop the print run and issue a new series with a different starry background. The old notes are now collectors' items. No need to mention what happened to the Shah...
The Russians provided the anti-aircraft system to both Syria and Iran. They failed to knock out even one plane in these strikes. Iran must now know that they have no defense if the Israelis want to take out some targets. The Russians must be working overtime trying to figure out what went wrong. I think we provided the technology to neutralize the defense system to the Israelis, but they may have some of their own. The Russians are sure to analyze the failure and make some changes that could change the game. They can always build some more missiles but the defense systems are more complex and expensive.
The civil war in Syria is the result of the most important conflict between Israel and the Palestinians
if the deaths of dozens, if not hundreds, of your troops at the hands of Israel, does not bring about full retaliation from Syria, I honestly don't know what will. I know that the NATO Zionist scumbags would like nothing better than for a rain of Syrian missiles to strike Israel but this is the 2nd occasion in the last few months where Syria has basically turned the other cheek.
Who?!, Can argue, with the chosen people!...
¡¿Quién?!, puede argumentar, con el pueblo elegido!...
{The revolution may not be televised, but WWIII apparently will. }...Hey Tylers, how about trashing these biased disinform pieces of shit from oilprice.org and post some real analysis like from Pepe Escobar or William Engdahl?
Israel’s 'act of war' against Syria – Madness or cold calculation?
Israel’s bombing of Syria is a sign Tel Aviv and Washington are preparing international opinion, and gearing up for a full-scale Libya-style NATO-IDF air campaign to obliterate Syria.
On May 3-4 the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) launched two successive aerial bombing strikes deep inside Syrian territory, reportedly against the Jamraya military research center near Damascus Airport. While Israeli spokesmen have been coy about admitting responsibility, the Obama Administration confirmed and endorsed the bombings in Syrian sovereign territory. By precepts of international law, Israel has committed acts of war against Syria, in violation of the UN Charter.
The alleged justification for the Netanyahu regime, which seems to set another set of laws for itself as the norms of international law, was the claim that the strikes targeted a warehouse storing Iranian Fateh-110 “game changing” missiles in transit to the Lebanese Hezbollah. In January the IDF made a similar air strike to destroy a convoy of advanced air defense missiles en route to Hezbollah that would hinder Israel’s ability to enter Lebanese airspace unharrassed.
To grasp what is going on inside Tel Aviv a recent timeline helps. On April 27, before Israel embarked on action against Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov forged a new Russian alliance with Hezbollah in Beirut. According to Debka.com, an online source with reported close ties to the Israeli intelligence community, “This was Putin’s answer to Obama’s direct appeal for a partnership in the effort to terminate the Syrian conflict. Obama’s rejoinder was the green light he gave Israel to go for Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria.”
On April 30, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah made a public speech in which he for the first time indicated that his organization was ready to come to the active aid of Assad’s Syrian regime in the fight against Al Qaeda and assorted foreign and domestic “opposition” to Assad’s rule. Nasrallah also said charges that Syria used chemical sarin weapons were fabricated to justify foreign intervention. At the same time Iran called in the UN to investigate alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria . . . .
This article describes how Russia is buying time towards a nuclear status for Iran, by means of turning the war in Syria to a conventional one between Russia and NATO. http://essential-intelligence-network.blogspot.com/2013/05/syria-conventional-war.html
