Benghazi Attack House Hearing Redux: Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the latest set of revelations on the Benghazi embassy attack, the House is back to doing what it does best: pontificating, pointing fingers, and talking, and making a TV spectacle of it all. As the Hill notes, "New revelations about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, are pulling Hillary Clinton back into a political firestorm that the presumptive 2016 candidate had so far managed to escape unscathed. House Republicans have unearthed new evidence suggesting the Obama administration could have done more to help the U.S. diplomats under attack last Sept. 11. State Department whistle-blowers testifying Wednesday before the House Oversight panel are also expected to say the then-secretary of State was personally involved in the decision to depict the attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans as something other than terrorism." Sadly, Hillary will not be there to vehemently ask, rhetorically of course, of anyone interested in the failings in US foreign policy, "what difference does it make?"

"New revelations about the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya..."

Who are the terrorists, and who are the freedom fighters.  I can't tell the difference.

The light "sweet" crude from Libya is not only very high quality, it can also easily be extracted from shallow wells in desert areas at a cost that some put as low as $2 a barrel – not bad if you can sell for $114 on the global market.

True "Freedom Fighters" are mighty rare these days. Mostly they're all terrorists. The only difference between the various factions of terrorists are their respective agendas, i.e. who gets to shear the most sheep.

Yep.  Lying to the American people has to be punished.  This nonsense started because of how it would look during an election season.  That's a primary reason it went down like this.

"1. If one could think about direct army involvement then it would be Sept. 27, 1950 when the US establishes the Military Assistance Advisory Group, Indochina (MAAG) in Saigon to aid the French military (the French had been fighting communist rebels in Vietnam, their pre-WWII colony, since 1945 A.D.).

2. If one could think about direct combat engagement then it would be November 1, 1955 -- The US re-designates MACG, Indochina, as MACG, Vietnam to specify its new direct combat advisory role with the North Vietnamese Army. The US essentially took over the advisory role from the French, who were leaving Vietnam after their defeat at Diem Bien Phu in 1954. The Department of Defense views this date as the earliest qualifying date for inclusion on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. In fact this allows US military personnel to use live weapons in Vietnam aka 'to win'!

 3. March 1959 -- Ho Chi Minh declares a People's War to unite all of Vietnam under his leadership. His Politburo orders a changeover to an all-out military struggle. From the communist perspective, the "Vietnam War" against the US has now officially started."

That's why the elites murdered Kennedy in Dallas.

People think the President runs things -- and so did Kennedy -- and that's why he was taken out.

Hundreds of thousands of dead Vietnamese? No, it was millions. Over 2 million from 1965-1974 and even more if you go back to 1955. Also, it was 65,000 American soldiers dead, over 100,000 wounded, and hundreds of thousands more developed health complications as a result of exposure to Agent Orange. Also, over half a million Vietnamese children were born with defects as a result of Agent Orange, and over one million Vietnamese developed health complications as a result of exposure to the chemical.

Indeed. The terrors visited upon Vietnam were horrific, and should never have happened.

Yet we poison ourselves today continuously with Agent Orange's declassified little brother, Roundup, which is in all the water systems, all the GMO plants, and often at more than trace levels in our own bodies as a result, even in newborns.  Agent Orange/Roundup (it is the same molecule) is known to cause not only birth defects, but sterility, neural defects--indeed, quite a laundry list of nasties.  The Natural Society website has more information.

"When Nixon lied, no one died."

Except when Nixon promised the North Vietnamese that if they waited for him to win the presidency (over Johnson) that they would get a better deal at the negotiation table. For Nixon it was all about bettering his odds in the upcoming election. Lots of people died because that war went on longer that it could have. (Websearch YouTube with recording of Johnson talking about Nixon's behind the scenes moves regarding the North Vietnamese.)  If there's an afterlife, Tricky Dick is buring eternally most likely.

Of course, Johnson lied regarding the Gulf of Tonkin 'attack' on US warships that greatly expanded the US involvement in the war. That cost 60,000 lives of US troops and more than a million Vietnamese (some estimates are much higher than this, 3-4 million.)

Lesson:  they are all liars and psychopaths/sociopaths who don't care who dies as long as they gain power.

For what these thoughts are worth:

1. Why does it seem that Hillary Clinton has categorically failed on every initiative she's ever been on. Whenever something she does blows up, she blames everyone. Remember how she made 100,000 trading pork futures because she learned it by reading the WSJ? Sure.

2. The fact that a) Hillary says "what does it matter" and, b) John Kerry being in charge now, should send a strong message to any families of American military families that their loved ones are seen as being disposable, ignorant pawns in the hands of the global elite. Kissinger said it first. Larry Dallas is just repeating this.

The “government” is a criminal organization. They rule with fire power. They are a gang that numbers in many thousands. Their goons are everywhere. America in under an occupation of criminals and will continue to be until they are at last forcibly removed from our land.

The Red Team versus Blue Team thing still works exceedingly well as a distraction. The Blue Team fucked up and tried to cover its ass, and the Red Team sees this as an opportunity to hurt a potential 2016 presidential candidate while also squashing the idea that we can have any cuts in defense spending.

No matter what comes out of this hearing, though, we'll continue sliding further into debt as our liberties gradually evaporate. The two teams are simply fighting over who gets to control the train. The track we're on never changes, and the destination is the same regardless of who does the steering.

Obama and the dems are able to do what they're doing now because of Bush and the pubs before them. So you may feel better knowing that you voted for the team that drove us off the cliff at "only" 50mph instead of 70mph, but we're still screwed either way.

Why support either side at his point? It's ultimately a slap-fight between a bunch of brainiacs like Ed Schultz and Sean Hannity, and we're all made more stupid by participating.

Fascism is the marriage of big government, big business, big union, etc.

Not really. Fascism is rather syncretic in nature but I'd place it more on the left. The Nazi party performed best in areas where the Left was historically and is currently strongest while it performed poorly in the monarchist/classically liberal areas of southern and western Germany. It also did incredibly well with state employees. Hmm.

That doesn't mean that there isn't a difference in ideology...

I'd argue that the only difference in ideology today is found among the voters, not the parties. The parties themselves are concerned first and foremost with power, both how to obtain it and how to hold on to it.

If you talk to Republican and Democrat voters, you'll notice that they do have legitimate differences. But those differences are easily brushed aside by politicians in their quest for control, so voting red or blue becomes an exercise in futility because the march toward statism is intertwined with the desire for power that now grips both political parties.

"if we can reset the liberty system ..."

STOP  Do not renew the Federal Reserve System's Charter.  They had their chance.  Now is the time.

Back to real money.  Constitutional money.

The Constitution states in Article I, section 8;

   The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United Statesbut all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

This power was given over to the Banking cartel in 1913 and the only way we can reset is to take back that power and repeal the set of laws giving the FR System unelected authority over us all.

GK Chesterton said, "anything worth doing is worth doing poorly."

  It took my about 8 years to understand that.

  The central issue isn't the parties themselves.  It's the elected representatives of our country, regardless of their party affiliation.

  Certain vacuous morons are drawn towards one party more than the other -- which happens ironically enough, to be the jackasses.

  Republicans by-and-large believe in a few things that hold true to my self understandings.  They don't think that God and religion are campaigning platforms to be manipulated and become elective tools.  They can tell the difference -- for the most part -- between people that can't work and people that won't work.  And they aren't postmodern.  Regardless of their personal flaws, they believe in morality and absolute truth, not secular humanism or postmodern ironic virtue.

  As much as the majority of this forum doesn't like it -- the train is being driven by two parties, and bitching constantly and trolling and debbie-downing isn't going to produce any change.  It's a train we're all on, and I think most of us know, it sucks and our wallets are becoming thinner.

  Instead of following Nader and Paul pipe-dreams, libertarian teaparties and goldbugging -- we have to go about fixing our malcontent by reforming and allying with a driver, we can propose and follow a new driver; quantitative change will happen when not trying to reinvent the wheel.  How loud is one black sheep's voice amidst the clamor of a million sheeple?  If the driver represents our long term replacement candidate in a more pure way, that replacement candidate will eventually have more of a chance.

  The Durden's avatar and caricature is based on movie made from the cynical Palahniuk novel.  That's two levels of fantasy, one a novel, and two a movie -- both fiction.  It's not reality, folks.

  So no -- we aren't going to have a zombie apocalypse, no matter how many violent, society-isolated wetdreams forumists may have - we aren't going back to the old west where all of the paranoid doomsday preppers and militia hopefuls and armament builders and anarchy wishers hope we're going -- we need to achieve real change in the reality of our current economy and circumstances.

  In short, this forum has become polluted with conspiracy theorists, jew haters, weapons hoarders and hard commodity nuts looking for an excuse to justify and rationalize their withdrawal from society and their eccentricity and video game reality.

  When really, most of us need to slow down, read the Durden's entire posts instead of posting one liners to be first in the comment thread.  How about comparing the material from two different perspectives and be thoughtful and compelling and within society to bring about change.

  Don't get me wrong, I've gone way beyond hedging my soft investments with hard commodity, I'm 80% precious metals, physical, not futures.  I'm also not living in a book, a movie or my own mind.

  The end.

More than 300 people lost their lives, due to terrorist attacks in Beirut during Reagan’s watch. Was the Reagan administration negligent? Was President Reagan directly responsible for those deaths? Was he “soft” on terrorism?

There Have Been At Least 15 Attacks On U.S. Embassies And Consulates Since 1979 -- Including Seven Under George W. Bush. U.S. embassies and consulates were attacked at least 15 times under the presidencies of Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush. Seven of those attacks occurred during the presidency of George W. Bush.

Being interviewed by Geraldo Rivera of Fox News, General Jack Keane basically debunked the theory that more could have been done to conduct a timely rescue mission at the U.S. consulate in Libya or that the President somehow screwed up or was incompetent. Here are some of the General’s direct quotes:

“The consulate was stormed”.

“There was no gunships in the region”.

“There was nothing that could have prevented it”.

“It was over in about an hour”.

“Forces got there as soon as possible”.

“To politicize this is very hurtful”.

Clearly, Taint, you don't know much about/haven't spent much time with Mil guys. Here's the rule: *any* officer above the rank of Major/Lt. Cmdr got that eagle/stripe/star(s) by playing politics. You can be Audie Murphy or Dick Winters or Mitchell Paige or Sgt. Rock, and it doesn't matter: if you don't suck up and kiss upper brass ass - unless there's a world war going on - you ain't getting promoted. Period.

So now a general, a guy who is *by definition* exactly as much a political asshole as any scumbucket congressman is, comes out and sucks up to his bosses by "defending" them, despite the fact the real soldiers involved have contradicted _every single thing he said_. Hmmmm.... who to trust on this one.......think, think....

Let's ask this question another way:

Blaming people isn't really important MOST of the time, but people do need to be held accountable, particularly in politics.  So in this case, who is accountable?

So what if you're a fan or not - who is accountable?

Frankly, I say it's the President for one reason, Hillary held Bush accountable (correctly) for Abu Ghraib.  But Rumsfeld fell on the sword.  Hillary didn't fall on the sword, except rhetorically, and then said "what difference would it make?"

It would have made a hell of a lot of difference.  And the fact is there were rapid response troops within a 4 hour flight that could've arrived to help out when the battle lasted almost 9 hours.

As long as we keep saying nobody can be held responsible 'because', then we abdicate all responsibility for all acts of ignorance and uncaring.

Actually the phrase that was given to the press by the Ragin' Cajun Jimmy the "freak" Carville to parrot and the sheep followed was "SO WHAT"

 "What difference does it make?"  is just another phrase to wave around so that mind numbed retarded folks can stare at the teevee with eye's glazed over and say; "Yea man, What difference does it make" and yes republicans are just as complicit in government fuck ups and as long as government has a monopoly on force there ain't a god damn thing you can do about it.

I'm curious what, if any, difference are you referring to?

Option a: they discredit Hillary, Biden is an idiot, GOP wins 2016.

Option b: nothing of import results from the testimony, Hillary escapes the flames, Biden pulls out of the running because of horrific polling and it's obvious the Dems want the wicked witch, she soundly defeats the GOP and becomes potus.

Neither a GOP or Clinton victory changes a single thing of consequence. The govt. is bought, the 1% need to impoverish the masses to the point they'll embrace slavery, and the majority of Americans are not only asleep but in all honesty completely uninterested fucking imbeciles.

Nat'l debt 22 trillion- 60 million on food stamps- youth unemployment 35%- FED balance sheet a cool 7 trillion- interest rates at (-0.3% )- war with Iran ( after we invade Syria of course )- austerity- civil unrest ( after a good "Cyprusing" of American depositors, destruction of civil liberties, and veritable gutting of the Bill of Rights )....... and imo this is an extremely conservative prediction.

The worst case...... I don't want to even consider.

Edit: I concede to Sheep-dog, that with regard to the families that lost loved ones, some measure of closure and recompense might result. I was speaking in broad strokes.

These are our leaders.  These corrupt and incompetent fools, making war all over the world, spending money that can never be repaid, writing laws as fast as they can to control the people, stocking up on ammunition and armoured vehicles...these bumbling idiots...all of them backed in perpetuity by none other than Ben Bernanke via the destruction of our currency if only to stay in power another day, another week, another election cycle.

Cdad, what a great response, +1000. These PEOPLE, and i use the term loosely, are the power hungry vultures who we've all known throughout our lives. Even as we were children, there was always the one kid that would do anything to get ahead of the others. From squealing, to cheating and lying, to any self serving rationale to get ahead of the herd. The problem as i see it is that these turds have all floated to the top of the cesspool, and now are our "leaders". From the unnaccountable ranks of the congress, to the fraudulent centerpiece of the president. The WHOLE clusterfuck that we call "government" is infested with the Hillary's, Obama's, Reids, Pelosis, Boehners, & like minded cohorts. They lie, propagandasize, kill, and wage war at everyone elses expense. They have no bounds to their lawlessness, because they make the laws. They can spend money relentlessly, because they print the money. They are ALL in command now, and will not relinquish that ill gotten control over all of us until the sheeple are starving, (and i, or any of us knows when that tipping point will occur). I think EVERYTHING in our lives as it concerns to anything political, ie. voting, hearings, etc. are scripted and screened to pull the proverbial wool over the sheeps eyes, until there is no wool left to pull. Same goes for the economic disaster we're engulfed in. It's ALL outta control. It's a sad situation becoming a dire pessimist after being a lifelong optimist........... from totally pissed in almost heaven.

It is an issue when the President's Representative, ie the Ambassador gets murdered in a terrorist attack in a foreign country, where we had just intervened to bring these terrorists into power, while at the same time trying to bring other similar terrorists into power in Syria using weapons run out of Libya.....This same President claims that some innocent film maker is responsible, and that no one could have forseen a "terrorist attack" on say a date like 9-11....

This same Prez who when informed of the attack (that will last 8 hours or longer) leaves and is not seen again till the next day at a campaign rally across the country. We are told that neither the Pres or Hillary requested the military intervene, even though we had resources in country that were not only not deployed, they were ordered to stand down...WTF??? We had NATO bases 1 hour flight time away in Italy. The Admiral of the Med Fleet is relieved of command during the attack, why? The General in charge of Africom is relieved that morning, why? Did they refuse the order to "Stand Down??" Did they send assets that led the Seals on the annex roof to believe that help was nearby and start lasing targets that led to their deaths...These same Seals that had ignored the Stand Down order in Tripoli, and commandeered a plane to Benghazzi to assist in the evacuation of embassy personnel...

So Nixon has to leave office over a 3rd rate burglary of the political opposition, no one died, no one was smuggling arms from one country to another in violation of numerous treaties. But to you this is a non-issue??? Clinton was almost impeached for lying to a grand jury over sex with an intern....OMG, of all the things to leave office over, Watergate or Monica this is 3000 X worse......

BHO is a traitor. Hillary Clinto is a POS....Knowing to what extent, or lack of extent they can be trusted or believed, may cause the rest of their anti-gun, free-immigration and welfare for all agendas to crash and burn. That would matter despite what Hillary and you claim.....String em up!!!
