Santelli On IRS Witch-Hunt Repurcussions: "No Stent For You"

Tyler Durden's picture

In a perfect follow-up to both President Obama's earlier comments and the news that a hearing is to be held ion May 17th, Rick Santelli has a few things to say. Clearly irritated at the incredible reality of big brother and government intervention, Santelli pushes his blood pressure to 11 on the dial as he comes to grip with the repercussions of the IRS actions. "Truth is power," he exclaims, "you can't assume someone is fair and honest," just because a politician says so. His bigger fears lie in the IRS administration of Obamacare where he is concerned that "No stent for you," will be heard when the powers that be know what groups you support, what thoughts you have, and what area you live in. Think he is exaggerating? Did you really believe the tin-foil hat wearers conspiracies that the IRS was doing this before it became mainstream news?

In America, hard work and responsible citizenship is rewarded, and no good American is left without basic necessities like healthcare. But the fruits of our democracy are reserved for responsible citizens who pay their taxes and behave in accordance with American values. Despite what many voices will tell you, this administration does not support free riders. Every citizen has a duty to this country, and those who would undermine our self-governing society will not be allowed to reap its rewards.

You don't know squat. They don't need to do that to get page views and clicks.

To use the answer Ted Turner gave when he was asked how many people watched CNN (back when it was a real news outlet and not a PR firm for the Left Wing), Turner said, "Don't ask me how many; ask me who."

I haven't had a conversation with anyone of any stature in the financial community of NYC and DC who isn't aware of ZH.

Getting to reveal they read it, however, is like getting a MSM journalist to admit he or she reads Drudge. They act as though they are too good to spend time on Drudge, but the way Drudge sets a major portion of the news agenda means they are liars - which is what they are on almost anything having to do with news.

The financial community is exactly the same. They read it, if for no other reason than the fact that their name may be in an article that day.

The psychology is simple: If I want to make sure you read every page of the most ill-conceived 100-page report ever crafted, all I have to do is sprinkle your name throughout it. You'll read every page looking for your name, and the context in which it appears. You will be even more dilligent in your reading if I include quotes and opinions about you.

If there is one thing those people do not lack, it is immense ego. They read ZH. Regularly.

The Tylers do fine without resorting to duplicity.

Building on what Mars In Scorpio wrote:

Lots of professional writers & journalists are present here (the purveyors are writers).  If one has ideas, dirt, interesting factoids, what have you and you want it to be broadcast widely post about it.

Things from here often end up in: MSM financial media, newspapers, bank & HF letters, even in politicians & FED officials speeches from time to time up to and including our corrupt POTUS's teleprompter(no shit).  The speed at which this often occurs is remarkable really.  No faster way to my knowledge to get an idea out in front of the world than to mention it here.  They seem to have a habit of using your exact verbage (often in headlines) if the idea is good.  The cure for professionals with cases of writers block or something.

Funny thing is all these people complaining about US domestic policy have been the direct beneficiaries of abhorrent US foreign policy for the past 100+ yrs.

If they were to actually move outside of the American cocoon and live as foreigners do under the iron fist of the US empire in a country run by American corporations then they'd really have something to complain about...

You're right James. We are just bad people and should just surrender and die, right. No point in pointing out the obvious right? Or are you suggesting we should embrace our corruptitude and place Obama on the high pedestal to which he deserves? It is amazing when fools find those they voted for to be the devil, they must be equated to every other devil, real or imagined. You're right. Obama ain't so bad. Afterall, remember that Hitler guy? Right, he was the bad one. Obama has just got a little bad advise and the vast right wing conspiratorialists have lied about everything to bring him down. Everything has just been blown out of proportion. Obama has two nice kids, and look at that fine bride of his. How could anyone criticize a man like that, and lets not forget...he's blaackkk.

You're off on your own nonsense here, I never mentioned O. The links I supplied show a strong continuity among every president.

The main point is so long as the USA is attacking 'the other' it's a-ok, the moment they do something to your particular tribe it's a major affront. But you tools pretend it's suddenly a universal affront ignoring that it's been going on the whole time - just not to you so much.

People only give a shit about anything when it happens directly to them.

If anyone actually cared about freedom and democracy they'd start with prosecuting the crimes of the past and getting to the real rot of the system.

So you are one who prescribes to the idea that we have no reason to complain and there is nothing new here. same as it ever was? I'm sorry but to look at your posts, this is all I get from it and I can only assume it is to minimize what many of us see as a crisis. Are we supposed to just ignore what is happening? Bush did it so quit bitchin? It comes across as excusing our current actors and there is no excuse.

Of course not, but I'm of the opinion people need to stop focussing so intently on their own tribe and instead look at the big picture.

If you were to say 'Oh Obama is so terrible blah blah blah' what exactly am I supposed to do with this information? Is Obama different than Bush? Was Bush really that different than Clinton? etc. If you go down the line they're all garbage.

Looking at leaders and having either expectations of change or delusions that they'll act differently (or have been tangibly different in the past) is a fool's game.

IMO there should be a serious national / international conversation about how we got to this place. Past is prologue.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Most Americans have no fucking idea what is coming with healthcare in the next few years.  I'm only 46 and there's no way I'm working fulltime past another 2 or 3 years.  Morale amongst the doctors at my hospital is at an all-time low.  Many of us are living very frugally & preparing for early retirements.  More than 50% of doctors are over 50, and a large majority of them will be retiring in the next few years....mark my words.

It's not going to be about "no stent for you".  It's going to be about "we are sorry for the wait, your chest pain is very important to us, but there are currently 100 patients ahead of you and we only have 1 doctorAgain, your chest pain is very important to us.......".

Who's more wicked - the Administration that commits the lies or the "unbiased" media that perpetuate, nurse, and disperse those lies?

One was elected and, in theory, can be removed. The other is a festering pool entrenched in America that will perserve it's own existence by referring to itself as the fourth banch of government... thus the people, and democracy, require them.
