Santelli On IRS Witch-Hunt Repurcussions: "No Stent For You"

Tyler Durden's picture

In a perfect follow-up to both President Obama's earlier comments and the news that a hearing is to be held ion May 17th, Rick Santelli has a few things to say. Clearly irritated at the incredible reality of big brother and government intervention, Santelli pushes his blood pressure to 11 on the dial as he comes to grip with the repercussions of the IRS actions. "Truth is power," he exclaims, "you can't assume someone is fair and honest," just because a politician says so. His bigger fears lie in the IRS administration of Obamacare where he is concerned that "No stent for you," will be heard when the powers that be know what groups you support, what thoughts you have, and what area you live in. Think he is exaggerating? Did you really believe the tin-foil hat wearers conspiracies that the IRS was doing this before it became mainstream news?

In America, hard work and responsible citizenship is rewarded, and no good American is left without basic necessities like healthcare. But the fruits of our democracy are reserved for responsible citizens who pay their taxes and behave in accordance with American values. Despite what many voices will tell you, this administration does not support free riders. Every citizen has a duty to this country, and those who would undermine our self-governing society will not be allowed to reap its rewards.

You don't know squat. They don't need to do that to get page views and clicks.

To use the answer Ted Turner gave when he was asked how many people watched CNN (back when it was a real news outlet and not a PR firm for the Left Wing), Turner said, "Don't ask me how many; ask me who."

I haven't had a conversation with anyone of any stature in the financial community of NYC and DC who isn't aware of ZH.

Getting to reveal they read it, however, is like getting a MSM journalist to admit he or she reads Drudge. They act as though they are too good to spend time on Drudge, but the way Drudge sets a major portion of the news agenda means they are liars - which is what they are on almost anything having to do with news.

The financial community is exactly the same. They read it, if for no other reason than the fact that their name may be in an article that day.

The psychology is simple: If I want to make sure you read every page of the most ill-conceived 100-page report ever crafted, all I have to do is sprinkle your name throughout it. You'll read every page looking for your name, and the context in which it appears. You will be even more dilligent in your reading if I include quotes and opinions about you.

If there is one thing those people do not lack, it is immense ego. They read ZH. Regularly.

The Tylers do fine without resorting to duplicity.

Building on what Mars In Scorpio wrote:

Lots of professional writers & journalists are present here (the purveyors are writers).  If one has ideas, dirt, interesting factoids, what have you and you want it to be broadcast widely post about it.

Things from here often end up in: MSM financial media, newspapers, bank & HF letters, even in politicians & FED officials speeches from time to time up to and including our corrupt POTUS's teleprompter(no shit).  The speed at which this often occurs is remarkable really.  No faster way to my knowledge to get an idea out in front of the world than to mention it here.  They seem to have a habit of using your exact verbage (often in headlines) if the idea is good.  The cure for professionals with cases of writers block or something.

Funny thing is all these people complaining about US domestic policy have been the direct beneficiaries of abhorrent US foreign policy for the past 100+ yrs.

If they were to actually move outside of the American cocoon and live as foreigners do under the iron fist of the US empire in a country run by American corporations then they'd really have something to complain about...

Everyone's hero talking about the CIA:

How the US actually achieved the first man on the moon (spoiler: they used former nazis)

Death squads (a prized foreign policy tactic of the US):

You're right James. We are just bad people and should just surrender and die, right. No point in pointing out the obvious right? Or are you suggesting we should embrace our corruptitude and place Obama on the high pedestal to which he deserves? It is amazing when fools find those they voted for to be the devil, they must be equated to every other devil, real or imagined. You're right. Obama ain't so bad. Afterall, remember that Hitler guy? Right, he was the bad one. Obama has just got a little bad advise and the vast right wing conspiratorialists have lied about everything to bring him down. Everything has just been blown out of proportion. Obama has two nice kids, and look at that fine bride of his. How could anyone criticize a man like that, and lets not forget...he's blaackkk.

The main point is so long as the USA is attacking 'the other' it's a-ok, the moment they do something to your particular tribe it's a major affront. But you tools pretend it's suddenly a universal affront ignoring that it's been going on the whole time - just not to you so much.

People only give a shit about anything when it happens directly to them.

If anyone actually cared about freedom and democracy they'd start with prosecuting the crimes of the past and getting to the real rot of the system.

Of course not, but I'm of the opinion people need to stop focussing so intently on their own tribe and instead look at the big picture.

If you were to say 'Oh Obama is so terrible blah blah blah' what exactly am I supposed to do with this information? Is Obama different than Bush? Was Bush really that different than Clinton? etc. If you go down the line they're all garbage.

Looking at leaders and having either expectations of change or delusions that they'll act differently (or have been tangibly different in the past) is a fool's game.

IMO there should be a serious national / international conversation about how we got to this place. Past is prologue.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Most Americans have no fucking idea what is coming with healthcare in the next few years.  I'm only 46 and there's no way I'm working fulltime past another 2 or 3 years.  Morale amongst the doctors at my hospital is at an all-time low.  Many of us are living very frugally & preparing for early retirements.  More than 50% of doctors are over 50, and a large majority of them will be retiring in the next few years....mark my words.

One was elected and, in theory, can be removed. The other is a festering pool entrenched in America that will perserve it's own existence by referring to itself as the fourth banch of government... thus the people, and democracy, require them.

Hospitals will be bankrupted because they increased their infrastructure/capital/overhead costs in lockstep with a bubble economy.  This strategy has left hospitals (and medical practitioners in general) inflexible at a time when they must keep all options on the table.  Medicare and medicaid didn't force hospitals to develop more costly campuses and bloated administrations...  it only incentivized them to...  They injected the drug themselves...  and now they pay the price.

The large medical entities will go tits up (if we have any integrity) and the medical practitioners will be free to practice medicine and provide care (worth a shit) to their patients....  and will probably make a shit ton more money in the process.  The old expensive machines and equipment can be placed into smaller, specialty clinics that are privately owned by the physicians performing the services.  These smaller businesses will not have the luxury of staying alive through "good cop bad cop", i.e. having a myriad of doctors performing services so that the negative reviews/services are somewhat balanced/mitigated and blame can be directed away from the entity itself.

Unfortunately, I fear that those who have been successful in the race to become too big to fail (and thus participated in unsurpassed idiocy) will be bailed out...  and the spoils of their idiocy will pay dividends for decades.

Academia is no different...

I "upped" that because in the long run it is true, but in the short run, the hospitals (esp. their administrators) are fat and happy, because of all the money that the government is being thrown at them. Hospitals are buying up private practices left and right because the government is reimbursing procedures at a much higher price when they are done in a hospital system compared to in a clinic.

I think he means price. Here is what was found around where i am at.

All the hospitals were called with a price inquiry for a routine procedure, and all of the qoutes were all over the place. They charge what they want because they can, due to the fact they are protected by the state.

Hospitals are buying up every single little outpatient/surgery clinic in existance, which is critical for the healthcare takeover as there can be NO competition allowed to exist, as it threatens the state take over of the health care system.  So, how does a broke hospital purchase these businesses? Hmm.

So, they use the criminal arm of the tax collector, to enforce the criminal arm of the states healthcare system, requiring us to pay out the ass for nothing in return except MOAR MIND ALTERING PILLS, and fat, ignorant hospital workers..

Which brings me to a conversation that was so loud, i was forced to hear it. It went a little some'pin like this:

" Girl! How many time you gonna go to nursing school? (Laughter) Um, i dont know, i cant understand all that math an shit, yesterday i was so high, i couldn't understand what the bitch was sayin.. (more laughter)."

All of this while being ignored to pick up a to go order at a Chili's.

Ignorant gang banger care is all this is..

I choose to pass, i will get the insurance and throw the card in the drawer and stay the fuck away from doctors.  They are useless when the people who administer the drugs are too stupid to do the correct math.

Our state releases liscense suspension data every month.  85% drug suspensions/revocations.

Good luck.

My granddaughter was watching a cartoon the other day and I was in the kitchen and heard it. There was this character running for some office and spouting all kinds of socialist-leaning sound-bites. Then his evil opponent accused him of not being born on earth, but born an alien and so not eligible to run for office on earth. He was asked to provide his birth certificate. I should have stopped what I was doing to watch it, because it was such blatant propaganda.

There is no mention of "Jews" or joozians in the new rules. The rules states in its entirety:

"Racism, to include any religious affiliation, will not be tolerated in ANY FORM on this site, including the disparagment of people in the comments section.

To report any form of discrimination, please right click on the comment number, copy the link to the comment, and send the comment link to abuse [at]

Any user found to be discriminating against ANY race, religion, or affiliation, will be banned immediately, and have their comments removed from the system.

You have been warned."

Not saying I agree with this policy. It seems mighty vague and relies upon your neighbor reporting on you and turning you in to the authorities sort of thing. But it has nothing to do with "Jews," though you must confess there is a lot of anti-semitism on this site.

Concerning ZHs new policy Tyler chimed in the other day in a attempt to explain it. Seems ZH is being threatened w/legal action and ZH and commentors have a choice.

Tyler responded -

Oh for fuck's sake.

Here is a great idea. 20 or so commentators can keep on bashing the evil "joos" because we didn't get it in the first four years of ZH that it was all the evil "joos" fault (and really, who could have possibly thought of it before), and in the meantime zerohedge can spend millions in Swiss court defending itself against defamation lawsuits and since all our time will be taken up by legal affairs, not post a single article until such time as we are forced to shut down.

Of course, we will leave it to CNBC and Business Insider to find the factually (although who needs facts when prejudice is enough) culpable parties of the biggest generational theft of the history of the world.

Surely this is precisely the win win outcome our "intelligent", "sophisticated" commentators want

Zerohedge's servers are located in Switzerland, they are required to post this "anti-discrimination policy" per Swiss law.

Mon, 05/13/2013 - 18:10 | 3558225 Urban Redneck

Or how about - WHY NOT?

Who knows? What difference does it make? (to paraphrase Cuntlery) , there could be a legal reasons, financial reasons, "political liberty" do-gooder reasons like all those NGOs in Geneva have, or even historical reasons that date back to the schisms between the Marxists and the founders of Anarchism in Switzerland in the 1870's...

Anti-discrimination policies can take MANY different forms in Switzerland.  The one below comes from  Libertäre Aktion Winterthur (Anarchist Action of Winterthur) - so if you're in Switzeralnd and don't already have a nice personal data file spot picked out on ONYX servers- you can either take the RIGHT TO PRIVACY at face value, or avoid the link.

Anarchism in Switzerland: A few historic examples

The LAW is an anarchistic action in Winterthur and was established in 2004. The aim, which we aspire to is an association without authority, sex discrimination, exploitation of the nature, violence and racism. People should organize themselves, without the state or the church. So another aim is, that they learn to organize themselves without informal command structure. So everybody can use the LAW, because we like to catch people with different backgrounds against the state or the capital.

The LAW consists of different autonomous work group like one, which engage itself witch theoretical questions, another witch the environement, with media, internet or with anarchistical feminism and everyone can take part, where he/she wants.

At the moment we organize every month one or two events like lectures, showing videos or concerts and every winter we have got the anarchist days in Winterthur, where we in a fortnight every evening an event arrange with different instructors and themes.
