You are absolutely correct on this. Is it really news that the government surveils and records the communications of any individual or organization it wishes? Is it really news that the IRS is used as tool for political purposes? This type of activity has been going on for decades now.
Yet now we have not just one, but two "bombshell scandals" to full media circus advantage. How convenient. These stories are contrived as smoke screens for what remains the real story, which is the governments actions and activities in Benghazi. It had all the characteristics of a "drug deal gone bad" and the lengths to which they have gone to subdue the investigation smacks of desperation at this point.
Don't allow yourself to be sidetracked by the IRS/AP media show. Remain focused on Benghazi. That's the soft underbelly of the beast.

I can mostly certainly be wrong here. But I thought that when the phone records of a news organization are "secretly" requested (secret because to let the news organization know the records are being requested is deemed to be detrimental to the investigation) the AG must make the decision.
