Elizabeth Warren Confronts Eric Holder, Ben Bernanke And Mary Jo White On Too-Big-To-Jail

Elizabeth Warren is one of the few Senators out there pushing to understand why the federal government has created an untouchable class of criminals in America that can do whatever they want whenever they want and, not only get away with it, but also get bailed out when they make mistakes. In case you missed it, I highlighted a powerful video a few months ago in which she made regulators squirm when confronted on “too big to jail.” Now she has written a letter to Ben Bernanke, Eric Holder and Mary Jo White. My favorite line is:
“If large financial institutions can break the law and accumulate millions in profits and, if they get caught, settle by paying out of those profits, they do not have much incentive to follow the law.”

It already did, for "CompassionateFascist", looks like he's been axed. All his posts after about the time of the warning's issue, are now gone. I found this out this morning by realizing one of my own comments was missing, and all those above it as well, within the thread. But I had saved a backup of the thread, so I traced it back to his comment being where the cut had occurred. So I checked his recent posting history and all his comments, back to the 12th of May, were snipped. And everything under his comments, forward of that date, seem to be gone also. Hence my post was gone (even though it was about 10 comments below his in the thread).
Would be nice if they had just deleted the offending comment contents.
They should change the avatar of the bannished to a little star of david and the comments to **deleted**.

Read just a few of her ideas regarding student loans, housing, or even how people get wealthy (which Barack stole and used to generate some appeal in the last election as he saw his lead begin to fade). It benefits her to be one out of 100 that is willing to take on the banks, simply because it will get her PRESS.

As powerful as words are, it is actions that make the man. Bush and Obama would have been decent presidents if they did half the stuff they campaigned on instead of doing the opposite once in office. I'm not an Elizibeth Warren fan but it's hard to argue with this...all by itself.
The problem with EW and many like her is that her remedy is almost certainly to pile a whole boatload of intricate regulations and laws on top of an existing mountain of regulations and laws which just becomes another Easter egg hunt for the banks (or whomever) to find the legal escape hatch.
Witness the spanking new government agency they just invented in her honor which has done and will do exactly nothing to fix this shit.

Yes and if the fines/penalties were big enough to really hurt that might actually put the bank(s) in jeopardy which, because they are so big, might very well create a systemic risk (real or imagined) to the whole system. Based on her rabid tirades against "unfairness" caused by not enough government and businesspeople needing to "give back," I am positive that she is the exact sort of person who would be zealously cheering on the Cheka if we ever had a Bolshevik Revolution here in the US. In fact, she'd probably be leading them.

I'm a conservative BUT I am not a koolaid drinker. How can you argue with this statement from her? “If large financial institutions can break the law and accumulate millions in profits and, if they get caught, settle by paying out of those profits, they do not have much incentive to follow the law.”

Would it be too much to ask all of the fines that are levied by the government against corporations and banks actually be divided equally amongst the people instead of the the government coffers? Think about the tobacco, microsoft and so many other fines that have gone back to the government even though it wasn't the government that was harmed per se it was the people. The fines are meaningless to the offending company and also we the people so not sure what point the fines actually serve. Maybe a line item review of where the fine monies have actually gone to for starters.

I think it is interesting that here at ZH, anytime Warrens name comes up , it's close to a 50-50 split. Can't think of anyone else who gets ZH so divided.
A lot of otherwise smart guys seem to fall blindly in love anytime anyone criticizes "the banks." They don't bother to notice the poison that communists like Warren are spewing on all other issues. If Warren had her way, in her heart of hearts, anyone caught expressing an 'incorrect' opinion about race and gender would be forced into 'reeducation.' Of that I have zero doubt.
Look people - at some point we have to decide who is evil and who may not be totally evil. It isn't a matter of good against evil - black and white. Take your pick - but of everyone in DC today I would put Elizabeth Warren right near the top of my list of people who can be trusted to do the right thing when push comes to shove. Seems to me that a lot of the commentators here today like the salty taste they get on their lips when pissing into a very strong wind.
She is 100% evil. She is running on Marxist logic, laying claim to other people's property. Add to that her sick social views on race, gender, sexuality, and you've got someone the likes of which turn this country into the People's Republic of Cherokeestan if she had her way.
