Elizabeth Warren Confronts Eric Holder, Ben Bernanke And Mary Jo White On Too-Big-To-Jail

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Elizabeth Warren is one of the few Senators out there pushing to understand why the federal government has created an untouchable class of criminals in America that can do whatever they want whenever they want and, not only get away with it, but also get bailed out when they make mistakes.  In case you missed it, I highlighted a powerful video a few months ago in which she made regulators squirm when confronted on “too big to jail.”  Now she has written a letter to Ben Bernanke, Eric Holder and Mary Jo White.  My favorite line is:

“If large financial institutions can break the law and accumulate millions in profits and, if they get caught, settle by paying out of those profits, they do not have much incentive to follow the law.”

Indeed, which is why they don’t.  Full letter embedded below.

"Seems to me that a lot of the commentators here today like the salty taste they get on their lips when pissing into a very strong wind."

I like the nice almond smell I get in my nose from hydrogen cyanide!

Elizabeth Warren right near the top of my list of people who can be trusted to do the right thing.

WTF? Either you did a very poor job of compiling people for your list, or you clearly have one hell of a twisted idea regarding the meaning of "the right thing."

All you need is a couple of people to join to get a movement going.  It's in-your-face lawlessness going on right now. They have their own agenda which supersedes the US constitution. Those enforcing these criminals took an oath to uphold the constitution, guess it doesn't matter to these people either.

Vooter's picture

"It's in-your-face lawlessness going on right now."

Well, maybe Americans should fight in-your-face lawlessness with in-your-face lawlessness...

I like Warren a lot. I have a T-shirt from sending her $25 -I don't pay attention to what she says on Israel, Obamacare or whatever  -to me she is a role player  -she is dynamite on bankster fraud and protecting the average American. She is visible and will be effective  -she would never have been elected and never could be effective in what she does if she took on AIPAC, foreign policy and Obamacare. Let her appease the socialist liberals in the People's Republic of Massachussetts  -they're a lost cause anyway- I LOVE HER FOR HAVING THE GUTS TO TAKE ON WALL STREET- she gives me hope -she is articulate and intelligent - Bill Black is a liberal on other issues too  -I don't care. I like him for being an effective voice against fraud and the Banksters  -same for Matt Taiibbi  -he's liberal- Don't like it, but I appreciate what he does that is right.

Everyone has to lie about something.  Poor Ron Paul couldn't.  If he'd made a few trips to the Wailing Wall it might have done the trick.

Elizabeth for President! Yes she may give billions to poor folks in liberal welfare programs that won't work  -but at least we can then hold her and her policies accountable and throw her out.  BUT- she wont give one dime to the Banksters

-would you rather give a trillion a year to the Banksters or low class Americans? Give it to the Banksters and you'll never get the scoundrels out of power  -they'll own our congress-forever-and bribe them into setting up the police state and Fema camps, so that if we ever try to get them out, they could put all OF US TROUBLEMAKERS IN THE GULAGS - if we try to cut off funds for the low class Americans, we can always stop them with our well armed neighborhood citizens militia groups. As the crime watch director in my town, I am well armed and ready for the angry mobs that my try to invade my neighborhood. I am not at all equipped to defend myseld against Homeland Security attack drones--we're working on that.

Look, I do not particularly like many of her views, but...she has a point here. When the Fuuck are we going to stop allowing the Big Banks to get free money, leverage it, short our sound money, let Ben continue to allow this and have Jaime continue to tell to tell us fuck off, he is richer and knows how to take free money and make more and not give it to us. Let the bitch open em up. We dont have to make her a hero or even take another one of her points to heart just this one. I give her a C+ and at least trying to stop the thievery.

Element's picture

That supposes she has an ounce of real power, or that she'd ever be permitted to do any real harm. They'll let her do some peripheral damage, got to make it look good, bit of financial blood-'n-gore for for the 6 o'clock news show. But actually, she'll do nothing at all of any consequence, and all the sheep will think she's just great. But you'll still be pork chop in a banksters debt farm. Nothing has changed.

You just got played by a pro.

Ms Warren, being the whore she is for the educational-industrial-finance-complex is seeking discount student loans for her loser liberal studies debter army, this is her subtle way of saying oppose me and we'll fuck you up 9 ways to Sunday.  She doesn't care about criminal bankers, they bought her office.

Here's Bernanke's analysis: the financial elite own the financial institutions and have their money invested and deposited in them. Moreover, the politicians also have their money invested in and deposited in these same financial institutions. Since I work for, and answer to, these people, I will not do anything which would harm their net worths.

Timothy McVeigh for Congress! Oh, wait--we killed him. Too bad...

Stop expecting ideological purity. Ron Paul is one in a million, and it will be a long time before we see another like him.  If I were King, I would use Warren to help destroy the death grip of the TBTF banks and afterwards I'd mail her commie butt to some diplomatic post in Khazikstan. That's the way you get things done.

yeah........good luck with that liz.

The Office Of The Comptroller of the Currency is a crooked regulatory organization whose Comptrollers used to brag that the Comptroller's office cost taxpayers nothing, fees from financial institutions the OCC regulalted funded the OCC's budget of about $400 million when John Dugan was the Comptroller.  A cheap enough price for the banks, the OCC has provided national banks immunity  from most State oversight since 2003.  File a credit card complaint with the OCC and their consumer office iwill send all your information to the credit card company you complained about and then close the OCC file.  A clear violation of the Federal Privacy Act, but the OCC is above the law.  Treasury's Inspector General ignores complaints about the OCC.  The OCC Comptroller is probably laughing his head off at Senator Warren's letter, considering her letter and the Senator as a laugh riot.

Anybody can get up on their media soapbox and spout platitudes, but until I see one or more criminal banksters like Dimon, Corzine, Blankfein, or even Bernanke being led out in hand-cuffs and frog marched off to prison like Madoff, then I'll start believing in hope and change.

It's pretty easy to bear down upon so low level apparatchik Comptroller, another matter all together to start demanding an audit of the Federal Reserve, or demanding records of all the shenanigans going on since TARP.

RonBurgundy's picture

Elizabeth Warren is best buds with Jamie Dimon. does anyone read anymore or is it just open season for idiots

cherry picker's picture

There isn't anyone commenting here who hasn't lied or did something stupid in their lives.

Regardless what her other views are, if she stands by this one at least it is one senator who is bucking the trend of the rest of them.  I have to give her credit for that.

As far as marxism is concerned, what the hell do you thing is happening now?  And it ain't Warren's doing but a couple of Presidents who rubber stamped idiotic and treasonous legislation which proves to me they are not looking after the people who voted them in.

Just more good cop bad cop attempted diversion from the reality that 99% of the crooks in congress bow to the same elite masters.

Obama and co. are going under the bus partly because they've outlived their usefulness and partly to make the sheep yearn for the "R" side of the same coin who will undoubtedly sound very different during the next election cycle but will match and raise the rape of liberty obummer the droner has been so proud to implement.

Obama is not more than the latest patsy of the globalist circle jerk....

The inherent weakness in the democratic system of government prevailing today will ensure that not only the too big to fail banks get away with all the illegal activities they indulge in but also continue to become more and more powerful while the majority of the population goes through great financial hardships.

llusion of Democracy today.

People sponsored by the rich, make false promises to the masses to get elected. Distribute national wealth amongst themselves and their sponsors (Industrialists) and when that is not enough borrow money from rest of the world and continue the distribution process. The borrowed money has to be paid back by taxing the masses keeping in mind that tax rules are made such that the politicians and their sponsors pay minimum or no taxes.

End of political tenure, rinse and repeat till the whole system breaks down and the world wealth is cornered by a miniscule of the population.

What a load of patronising bull$hit. The sting is in the tail, the last paragraph.

Get off your knees, Warren.

I am interested in more aggressive action, not merely questioning the failed bureaucrats, and their puppet masters - you included.

Jail 'em. Don't bail 'em. You are paid to do a job. Do it. Stop blathering and colluding with the thieves, liars, banksters.

CONgress has become a cosy club, a talking club, schmoozing the innocent, and serving the cynical. Prove me wrong.

Bigger boys made them do it - is that the defense?

Fail.

So far, Warren is the lead actress in the game of CONgress. The latest lead actress. There will be another when she fails. And she will fail if she persists with this nonsense of bail 'em, don't jail 'em.

WallowaMountainMan's picture

"Bigger boys made them do it - is that the defense?"

no. no defense of anything.

mine was the observation that the powers that be love an environment in which no one can have 'credibility' because there will always be a way to find fault and discredit whomever would oppose whatever. this effectively removes any possibility to fix any problem, for example, tbtf.

the tptb can rely on an ad hominid arena to circus the public to 'this fault, that fault' discussion about the any who speak, destroying support with no regard as to the merit of which was spoken.

as an opposition to that tactic, when someone puts out an idea i like, i support them for that and try not to get lost in the never-ending murkiness of discussions of ad hominid one for all and all for one attack tactics.

"And she will fail if she persists with this nonsense of bail 'em, don't jail 'em."

i believe she was saying "jail them, don't bail them' and that "bail 'em, don't jail 'em" is a misinterpretation on your part.

:)

Even Mike, who I like and respect, and who is a patriot, forgets to put his attention on a corrupt Congress, but rather shines light on an apparently better-case individual -- 1 of 535 -- and forgets to not expect 1 of 535 to have influence over the Fed, Bankers, MIC, et al...

I'm not sure from where the collective disconnect comes... but all ye intelligent and energetic people are missing the gift-horse-of-blame-and-responsibility and skating right by a defunct Congress, and having more fun poking at the higher criminals -- sort of like a tabloid mentality, which serves... no one.

Giving the collective body of Congress a pass is the single greatest mistake of our time, and there likely will be no opportunity for a do-over.

newengland's picture

Warren speaks and writes like controlled opposition. A pet, albeit a more feisty pet.

Amen brother Cabreado! Boehner is limp and anyone who falls in line with him is a peice of shit just trying to cover their ass long enough to get their brain dead constituents to vote them another couple years of taxpayer funded coke and whores in exchange for promising to deliver bread and circuses.

The D's are similarly shitty as Boehner and will be defaulted to completely worthless without further comment except to say they are indistinguishable from the disgusting excuses for bags of shit that are John Mcain and that queer looking pal of his named Lindsey....

great belly laugh out of this article.  thanks for that.

So many of the comments here suggest a majority of children that don't have the perspective (via putting in time living) to understand just what is about to happen. Congress will be dead. The President will be dead. The "Supreme" court will be dead. And Wall Street criminals (those that iniitallly escape) will be scattered to the four corners of Earth, cowering and praying that nobody recognizes them or comes to understand why they have so much money. There has never been anything quite like what is about to happen in a country of People that own over 300 million guns and that has had every hope for their future stolen by psychopaths. There is no precedent. What is about to happen will be worse than any known event and worse than anything We can imagine--myself included.

The "game" is just about over. And for those of you who are too young to seriously entertain the extent of the problem, just be thankful that you were young enough to enjoy the last few years of ignorance and assumption...

Manipuflation's picture

I plussed you both but I am rather proud of these guys too.  All of us need to do more shit like that.

Myself, I prefer the counterfeit bill detector pen.  I prefer to pay cash sometimes and the best way to blow a cashier's mind is to whip out your own counterfeit detector pen, swipe it across the scrip you receive as change, and announce, "Yep, they're all still fake."  I have had some interesting conversations start that way.

Cabreado's picture

Mr. Beale,

I have perspective -- and I much prefer my approach (above) to your defeatist histrionics.

"The 'game' is just about over."
You are playing your own game.
Don't drag "the children" down with you.

I suspect "the children" would not like to give up, too.

HowardBeale's picture

Let's hear your plan...

My plan is 300 million guns and 30 billion bullets finding a few (Thousand? Tens of thousands? Millions?) angry vigilantes. If you can disagree with that, you need to look up the word probability...

Warren's a criminal (practiced law in Massachusetts courts w/o credentials). She's also a race hustler (false claims of Cherokee heritage to gain advantage). Topping it off, she's a radical socialist (claims to be the intellectual author of the Occupooers). Speaking as someone who ought to be in jail and not in the Senate, she lacks authority on any moral question. She hates Wall Street, yes, but only as a part of her general hatred of capitalism and anything involving corporations. Warren's presence in the Senate somehow demeans that body (and here I was thinking it couldn't possible get any worse!). WTF is up with you, Massachusetts? You sure know how to pick 'em!

WelfareFTW's picture

fuck elizabeth warren... she's a hopeless slave that thinks her masters will respond to her incessant questioning at best... OR a shill to appease the sheeple with the illusion that there's a swashbucking senator to represent them at the worst....

Raynja's picture

so, you (and everyone else talking shit below) is too pussy to do anything except bitch anonomysly on a fringe blog, but a member of CONgress (most likely corrupt and worthless as the rest) starts to put together a chain of the failures of responsibility and all you can do is attack her instead of taking the admissions she's gathered and trying to bring change to our politics.

either stand up and make yourself known in real life or support the slightly-less-crooked-get-a-vote-for-saying-what-others-won't-people who are pushing for incremental change. elizabeth warren is probably just a safety release valve, like ron paul, but the fact that people like you who understand what is going on and will not in anyway support someone pushing in the same direction as what you claim to believe leaves little hope the unwashed masses will ever stray from their entitlement, the state will protect me, tv mesemerized zombie asses, until they learn the true definition of tyranny.

Spaceman Spiff's picture

Shut up douchebag.   Liz Warren may be somewhat decent on this point, but make no mistake she is only trying to hold bankers responsible so her beloved centralized government can fleece the people directly.    She is just another adherent of keynsianism looking to pass the buck on to future generations while giving the illusion of centrally planned 'help' to those in need.   She wants her own brand of tyranny.
