Eric Holder Testimony To House Judiciary Committee: Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

We present today's main circus event: Eric Holder, Attorney General of the US, who will field questions from assorted members of the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Bob Goodlatte whose career donors can be found here broken down by industry. As a reminder, earlier today we got this: "House Speaker John Boehner wants to know, "Who's going to jail over this scandal?" He's talking about the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative groups for extra scrutiny of their applications for tax-exempt status." We know the answer: nodody.

if link above does not work, use this one

Holder's prepared remarks can be found here. Not surprisingly, the concluding issue here is the impact of the sequester on the DOJ and the demand for more funding.

All I have heard so far is flag sucking, Bostong Bombing lies (Officer was killed by friendly fire) and a whole lot of misdirection.

Smoke cover for Benghazi, funneling and supplying rebel groups in both Libya and Syria with vast amounts of military weapons then murdering the head of the operation to tie up lose ends. IRS and AP stories will go nowhere...they will be scapegoated and out of the news in a month.

EDIT: There they go again, Bostom Bombing, Boston Bombing, Boston Bombing....... I WANT EVERYONE to remember WHY THEY NEED US!

The War on the IRS

(The Bush-Obama administration's castration of the IRS.)

What was one of George W. Bush's first actions after he stole the 2000 presidential election (other than snarfing down a celebratory cheeseburger pizza)?

Bush shut down the "high roller" division in the IRS; that section which garnered the greatest recovered tax revenues by auditing the richest individuals and the richest corporations --- and redirected the IRS against much lower-income working Americans!

Now, this information about several IRS agents targeting the Tea Party and affiliated groups isn't breaking news --- they've been sitting on this for quite some time!

So why the sudden newsy firestorm now?

On the very same day this bullcrap spewed forth, on the IRS web site (please see special links below) an international, joint investigation was announced.  Their target:  trillions of untaxed dollars sitting in offshore tax havens (i.e., offshore financial centers, etc.).  This investigation will be undertaken by the IRS, the UK and Australia, thanks to leaked data from these tax havens.

Now this is the big story which they are misdirecting our attention away from, the one not being covered by the CorporateMedia today!

Instead, we are treated to "breaking news" of the moronic type.

Now, I'm no fan of the IRS, and we all should realize by this time that the tax code was written by the super-rich to benefit the super-rich (one need only read IRS Rule 401(a)(5) which essentially states that structured inequality, that is, screw the workers, is legally acceptable to them to comprehend that), so this is the first real egalitarian action by the IRS in many decades, but the CorporateMedia and the Bush-Obama Administration wishes to kill it!

Support the IRS in their investigation and tell the gov't to ignore this bullcrap!

(Some excerpts...)

Tax authorities in the U.S., Britain, and Australia today announced they are working with a gigantic cache of leaked data that may be the beginnings of one of the largest tax investigations in history.

He added: "We know from the data we obtained there are names of people from more than 170 countries. Some are prominent citizens – politicians, celebrities, businessmen, the elite of some societies.

The files leaked to ICIJ provide facts and figures — cash transfers, incorporation dates, links between companies and individuals — that illustrate how offshore financial secrecy has spread aggressively around the globe, allowing the wealthy and the well-connected to dodge taxes and fueling corruption and economic woes in rich and poor nations alike.

Here is what 401 (c) (5) says:

A classification shall not be considered discriminatory within the meaning of paragraph (4) or section 410 (b)(2)(A)(i) merely because it is limited to salaried or clerical employees.

So, you can understand this, the code simply makes each and every firm which employs both regular full time or even part time employees, and also CONTRACTOR workers, able to have a 401k for those regular crew who get a salary or a wage.  This is really not the smoking gun you make it out to be.  That sort of thing would only be true if contractors and self-employed sorts had no alternative to a 401k.  That idea is absurd.  There are plenty of alternatives.  Perhaps you should get more solid background information before you wade into this stuff.

Also, I queried the heck out of this idea that some division of the IRS was eliminated in 2000.  You would need to back that up.  All I get is article after article explaining how drastically auditing of wealthy has increased of the last several years.

I'm starting to think the same thing. I keep pondering why, but I think it's that they need to greatly accelerate the schedule of their things-to-do list, and they need chaos to allow it to happen. Little things like the biometric database in the immigation bill getting noticed is causing problems.

My guess is they have O go away, and have a crapload of legislation waiting to get passed by Biden the day he's in charge.

I also suspect that this isn't according to plan, meaning they're losing control of the situation (big suprise there.) There's got to be a big false flag buried in all of this, too. Next six months are going to be crazy, crazy times. They'll also look like bliss come 2016.

Actually, the network itself is pretty much invincible. It is the node that converts BTC into USD (EUR, whatever) that is vunerable.

Figure out how to change BTC into some other fungible commodity, offshore and at scale and viola, beyond regulators.

Right but that is the point, figure out a way to convert BTC into some intermediary commodity which can then be exchanged into USD. Silver would make sense to me, offshore allocated storage ala GoldMoney but in a more secure physical locale.

it's called BARTER. Once you can manage barter with goods you don't need bitcoin anymore though - you just barter. Gold & silver coin are part of that, money's foundation being tangible goods of enduring value yet reasonable rarity relative to all the other goods which are large, consumable, volatile, fragile, etc.

Spot on. This is what has bothered me from the word go on the utter dearth of prosecution of TBTF bankers: Holder has presumably been privy to vast amounts of information which detail the abuses and crimes, yet declines to prosecute any of them - the reason matters not. How is that not COLLUSION? Has he spoken personally to even one of these bankers or their representatives before declining to prosecute? Then we also have a charge of CONSPIRACY.
How in the fuck can this country claim any sort of allegiance to due process when crimes can be effectively pre-pardoned by the AG without accountability?

If one of my tin-foil sites is correct, it is the faux-conservative R's that unleashed the IRS K9's on the Tea Party, et al.

"It is because of some proof Mark Levin blurted out on his radio program on May 13th, in which he stated in his IRS investigations, that IT WAS CONGRESS previously who was sending the IRS to terrorize Americans who were "bothersome" to the members.

Has it been any secret that John Boehner or Eric Cantor have not only detested the Tea Party, but were in open war against it with Karl Rove and Dick Army trying to engineer an overthrow of it?"

The thought that some of the more rhino oriented wouldn't mind putting a bee in the grass roots bonnet occurred to me, too. This will come out. I remember reading about it. Lots of Dems that are spouting indignation are in on it, too.
I had an idea for a thought experiment. Once the dust settles, identify any professed grass roots org that where NOT targets, thus identifying orgs that are controlled opposition.
Well, that idea is out. Fox (for what it's worth) has the number of targeted groups @ 500.
Looks like they left not stone unturned. And of course, these 500 group were all handled by 2 individuals in Cincy, according to Treasury.

I don't fucking think so, chief.

I cannot believe any word he says - his actions speak otherwise. I cannot believe any assurance he gives - his actions speak otherwise, Right now, he is saying "no bank is too big to prosecute" - his actions speak otherwise. "If we can get the evidence..." he will prosecute - that's extremely convenient, if you never LOOK you'll never find the evidence.

Nothing he says is true, accurate or believable - his actions speak otherwise. Impeach him, convict him and execute him for TREASON. Put someone in who is trustworthy - if there are any left in government.

I hate to associate with him in any way, but he is part of the encroaching darkness - his shadow dooms liberty wherever it falls.

EDIT: Listening to Nadler trying to give cover to Holder for being "too aggressive", add Nadler's name to the list of TREASON candidates.

EDIT2: Bachus nailing Holder to the wall - Holder "recused" himself on AP matter without a memo, no written record - how convenient! He recused himself without telling the White House, without telling the AP there was a problem, without notice to anyone except "Just-us" personnel - all of whom work for him, and will confirm anything he says, if they know what's good for their careers.

You crazy optimist you.

Holder could stand up right there, say live before the camera "It's all been a lie" and nobody would blink.

You need to really understand the depths of terrified denial that runs through America today. People are staring gobsmacked into the pit of personal annihilation, and any lie now that comforts them even a little will be taken whole and embraced as the last human hope eternal.

No one wants to hear the truth at the end of the world.

Although I wholeheartedly agree, especially with anecdotal evidence from conversations, people don't like pain.  And now, slowly but surely, people are hurting.

Sure the market is up, recovery is the meme of the day, and things seem normal. But when the soft glow of electric Xanax goes off, only silence and thoughts remain.  And there is at least one mirror in every house. Tough to lie to the (wo)man in that for too long.

Eventually people will figure out that things aren't  getting better and some will search for the reasons.  I see broken people all the time.  Reaching for those old ways of stimulating endorphins. But many are actually starting to turn an ear to "crazy thoughts" and some actually entertain the idea that things are not what they seem.  The longer this goes on, the worse it gets for those in power.

War is the only true wild card.  It has worked all throughout history.  Sad to say.

BTW, your description of me is a bit off. I am not really an optimist.

This is the fvking problem with this country.

The real question is, Who has the balls to stand up in front of America, give the unvarnished truth and then demand the removal of the structures currently in place which allow these civil rights violations to continue!!!

You put one person in jail and you solve the problem today.  You remove the cancerous structure that creates these civil violations and you solve the problem forever.

Who is going to jail, fvk you Boehner and Republicans.  You are pu$$ies just like the Democrats.  If there is one thing you can both agree on it is how to keep the americans bent over and receiving it dry on a consistent basis.
