For those vertiginously challenged, look away; for everyone else, the fastest trip up the new World Trade Center... (or is this what it feels like to be the Nikkei?)

One World Trade Center...

.

I mean, what can i say, it doesnt get much more symbolic than that...

.

with its spire reaching a symbolic 1,776 feet...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_World_Trade_Center

.

1776...that number rings a bell...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminati

...society founded on May 1, 1776...

.

I guess it does get more symbolic than just than name.

.

Fuck, why didnt 'they' just even make it even more obvious and install the spire on the same day the society formed on May 1st...oh, they kinda did...

May 10, 2013

.

Sleep tight.

.

EDIT: If it was symbolic for American Independence Day...same year...you would think they would hold on 6 more weeks and do it right for the holiday of JUly 4th...it seems to be they were honouring more to May 1st...(hidden in May 10th)...for Beltane Day as well.

Spires

.

Symbolically, spires have two functions. The first is to proclaim a martial power. A spire, with its reminiscence of the spear point, gives the impression of strength. The second is to reach up toward the skies.[2] The celestial and hopeful gesture of the spire is one reason for its association with religious buildings.[citation needed] A spire on a church or cathedral is not just a symbol of piety, but is often seen as a symbol of the wealth and prestige of the order, or patron who commissioned the building.

All I know is that I didn't like the clip.

The acting was mostly stiff and, dare I say, even metalic. The action was slow (if we can call that action), the clapping was in the wrong place (claps go at the end) and frankly that background they were showing was clearly just done with using pink screen as a background and then replacing it with a pre-recorded tape (notice how nobody was wearing pink).

Furthermore, the whole thing just lacked dramatic intensity: Where was the drama? Where was the hero trying to save the heroine?

There was a perfectly good opportunity there for the hero holding the heroine, both standing on top of the spire, arms spread apart as if preparing to take flight, the wind in their hair or maybe somebody plunging to their doom, hearth crushed by betrayed love, or at the very least some tool falling down, rotating in the air in slow-motion as it plunged to the depths.

Instead, there was nothing.

Frankly, the only really good bit of acting was how the guys at the end really looked like they were seriously screwing that thing in place, and that's first year drama school stuff ...

Thank God at least 1 other person gets it. And good find on that 1776, that is so obvious, they are laughing in our faces. Kill 3000+ citizens in a Satanic ritual, fund a war with borrowed Rothschild (FED) dollars, and then signal that their New World Order has finally finished with the completion of their 'One World Tower'.

This is like a bad horror thriller.

But just wait until the exponentially increasing power of computer technology is in their hands allowing them to round us up systematically with ease. The Nazis with their IBM punch cards is peanuts compared to what these Satan-worshippers will be able to bring to us in the comings years.

And your comment has two ups and two downs.

And people are on the streets of Boston cheering martial law on the streets.

"Kill 3000+ citizens in a Satanic ritual"

I do not think they killed anyone in the towers (maybe the firefighters died, but I'm not too sure about that). There are a lot of footage showing CGI like "victims" jumping to their death and there are also a lot of discrepancies in the name, pictures and background of alleged victims (vicsims). There are a lot of blunders in the "live" coverage of the events (my favorite is a reporter walking up to a "random guy in the street" and asking: hey man, what role do you play now...and the guys goes: uhm...nothing now, I'm just sitting around...(i was left breathless for a good 5 minutes when i realized what i just heard).

Disclaimer: almost all of my "research" on this subject was done while high, so some restriction may apply, but i am serious about what I've said.

If you don't believe me, go and see 10-20 minutes of "live interviews" and "live coverage" of 9/11, minding what I've just said...Or just down arrow me for "disrespecting the memory of the victims".

Cheers!

I once had to install a piece of laboratory equipment.  It arrived bolted to a wooden pallet and it took 2 weeks to unbox it because only a union carpenter was allowed to remove it from the pallet.  It took another 2 weeks to plumb it because we had to have union plumbers do the work.  It came with a three prong pigtail in the box, so of course we had to wait for a union electrician to attach the power cord.  What I could have done myself in one day took no less than 6 people 4 weeks to do.

My father was a union man, and when I complained, he insisted that this was the way things should be.  I loved the man, but he was wrong.....

You're post and the score of votes puzzles me, probably because I'm not the brightest bulb in the room.  I know the common view around here is that all bankers are blood-sucking scum who should be hung from a lamp post or handed over to Robespierre for the chop and drop.  We even had a fellow yesterday---not you---who says every banker should be slaughtered, their good looking wives raped, and their kids made slaves (he got some up votes).  For some people it seems the sins of the father are passed down and around.  Okay, we're all entitled to an opinion, provided we break no laws, site or societal, turning opinion into reality.

In contrast, I see that those who build the edifices in which bankers work (a good portion of high rises are FIRE industry related), and whose employers are funded by banks who are members---and thus owners---of the Federal Reserve and practice fractional reserve banking, are noble union members who 'bust ass in a very dangerous job', and whom apparently we should hold in high esteem.  In other words, those who benefit from the very system about which they rail are okay, because they get their hands dirty along the way.  Whereas the bankers who are going to work in the building, or whose loan made the job and the workers' salaries possible, is once and forever whale puke?  Is that about right?  I guess the union ironworkers are just trying to put food on the family's table or something?  Would that nobility also cover those who build cluster bombs and drones, or who fashion depleted uranium rounds, or Teamsters who ferry the products on to the military, since those folks, too, are just trying to put food on the family's table?

We used to have a fellow here (perhaps he is still here) who used to be all over the Federal Deficit and big government.  His own job?  Government contractor.  Bite the hand comes to mind.

Seems to me---no doubt I'm wrong---that that is all selective morality.  Maybe it is as the character Ed Hoffman said in Body of Lies, "Ain't nobody innocent in this, Roger".

(I didn't downvote you.)

For what it's worth I up voted you.  Everyone suffers from cognitive dissonance.

For my sins I have worked in Compensation and HR for quite some time. When you deal with people from all levels everyone has selective morality. They are 90% full of shit.

A typical employee case/rant supported by the useless manager whose main interest is to increases his/her employees pay thus justifying an increase in their pay.... and so on.

"Look I get why their needs to be change in the workplace and that will mean some job losses.  I can also agree that in this enviroment any future pay increase, if they are agreed at all, need to be moderate. However, my situation is clearly different and my performance combined with my highly marketable skills mean that I deserve much MOAR than the median."

chindit13: +100!  Another way of saying all that (for otto) is, "I was just doing my job".  Well, IMHO, that's no phucking excuse.  What they're really saying is that it's nobler, somehow, to suck the cock of a banker than to actually be  a banker.  Bullshit.

He gave me the best of what I had learned not to fly with. He told me of the honor of inheriting the tools of another legend in the sky, a man who had also built legendary buildings, He walked on the ragged edge of it all fearlessly. He told me one story after another, about the envy and competition and the danger in the sky. Bad Ass American MOFO that I got to meet. Told him the truth about Southern Gentlemen. Reading this board is like watching the decline of the West. There are trends and movements in history and right now all the vigor is going to the East. In almost any other country buildings like this would have been occasions for pride at our technological progress, creativity and vigor. But no, it's yet something else to sneer at.

Which is worse - having nothing of import to talk about or having instant disdain for any project?

Russia goes all gangster...

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/17/world/middleeast/russia-provides-syria...

Russia Sends More Advanced Missiles to Aid Assad in Syria

Russia has sent advanced antiship cruise missiles to Syria, a move that illustrates the depth of its support for the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad, American officials said Thursday.

Russia has previously provided a version of the missiles, called Yakhonts, to Syria. But those delivered recently are outfitted with an advanced radar that makes them more effective, according to American officials who are familiar with classified intelligence reports and would only discuss the shipment on the basis of anonymity.

Unlike Scud and other longer-range surface-to-surface missiles that the Assad government has used against opposition forces, the Yakhont antiship missile system provides the Syrian military a formidable weapon to counter any effort by international forces to reinforce Syrian opposition fighters by imposing a naval embargo, establishing a no-fly zone or carrying out limited airstrikes.

“It enables the regime to deter foreign forces looking to supply the opposition from the sea, or from undertaking a more active role if a no-fly zone or shipping embargo were to be declared at some point,” said Nick Brown, editor in chief of IHS Jane’s International Defense Review. “It’s a real ship killer.”

Jeffrey White, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and a former senior American intelligence official, said Syria’s strengthened arsenal would “tend to push Western or allied naval activity further off the coast” and was also “a signal of the Russian commitment to the Syrian government.”

Where does a US carrier goes when it's hit by a missile? BELOW THE SEA...

I can't see how this Yakhont variant changes much, as Syria has jets and ships that can launch very effective anti-ship weapons right now. However, if this version of the missile has a precision land-attack capability, like a ground-mapping radar/IR navigation system, then yes, that could be a very nasty surprise, for a certain annoyingly belligerent neighbor (a couple of them). As for stemming the weapons and people flows, not so much, as it still leaves Turkey, Iraqi, Lebanese and Jordanian borders porous.

"P-800 Oniks" was the original name:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakhont

The Yakhont version Syria currently has:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastion-P

Oniks was then jointly developed by Russia and India into the "BrahMos" missile

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BrahMos

http://missilethreat.com/missiles/brahmos/

The missile physically appears to be the same for the Brahmos and Yakhont versions, probably only differing in sensor suite and special-mission software. Thus it appears this improved Oniks-Yakhont now being delivered to Syria is probably analogous to the BrahMos in capabilities, which missile does indeed have a very high-speed and long-range (300 km surface-launch or 500 km air-launched range) precision-guided land-attack capability (a very fast cruise missile, as well as being the most capable of ship killer missiles). This would be a devastatingly effective attack missile if coming in near tree-top height at Mach=2.6. The BrahMos version can reportedly strike specific buildings, even within a cluttered urban environment.

A 3,000 kg (6,600 lb) missile hitting any building at Mach 2.6 wouldn't necessarily need a warhead, due to the kinetic energy released, but it also has a 300 kg (660 lb) warhead.

So it appears that Russia may have just given Syria the ability to do to Israel, what Israel just did to Syria, blow shit up royally, with near impunity and with very little (if any) warning. It should also be noted that such a missile could effectively hit forces in Jordan, just as well. Anyone screwing with Syria's security would be fair-game.

Anti-Euro Party brings leaders in Rage 16.05.2013,

The SPD does not want to be possessed by the new anti-Euro party. Steinbrück called a dangerous group that could cost his party votes. Reacted angrily FDP Westerwelle.

Berlin After initial reluctance, leaders of the major parties are now warning of the anti-euro party AFD. "This is very dangerous," said SPD Chancellor candidate Peer Steinbrück on Thursday at the WDR Europa Forum in Berlin. The AFD play with prejudice and resentment in a time of further European integration was necessary. Although the AFD not more than five percent come they could "also in certain SPD voters gather votes," Steinbrueck said.

Drastically also commented Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. "Are we really mad that we apply what has been built over decades, want to tear in a year?" He asked with a look at the AFD's demand to give up the euro. It exaggerating his "flush of anger in the face" when he heard calls for the abandonment of the common currency. Then other European achievements would fall warned the FDP politician.
