The Arctic: The Final Energy Frontier
Via Stratfor's Chart of the Day,
The Arctic is expected to become more important in the coming decades as climate change makes natural resources and transport routes more accessible. Satellite data collected since 1979 shows that both the thickness of the ice in the Arctic and range of sea ice have decreased substantially, especially during the summer months. According to the United States' National Snow and Ice Data Center, the amount of Arctic ice (usually at a minimum during September) was 3.61 million square kilometers (1.39 million square miles) in September 2012 -- close to 49 percent lower than the average amount of ice seen between 1979 and 2000.
The melting of the ice facilitates natural resource exploration in the high north. U.S. Geological Survey estimates from 2008 suggest that 13 percent of the world's undiscovered oil and 30 percent of undiscovered natural gas reserves are located in the Arctic Circle.
Reflecting the growing interest in the region, the Arctic Council granted six new countries (China, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Singapore) observer status during a May 15 ministerial meeting in Kiruna, Sweden. By admitting more observers, the Arctic Council -- an organization that promotes cooperation among countries with interests in the Arctic -- will likely become more important as a forum for discussions on Arctic issues. However, this does not necessarily mean it will be able to establish itself as a central decision-making body regarding Arctic matters.

As the ice extent during Sept 2012 was sue to a massive Arctic storm breaking up the ice, I wonder how many of you would be willing to invest in my trans-Arctic shipping line to move cargo from Asia to Europe a whole lot cheaper because it's a shorter distance?
So all of you Warmers have refrained from having children, flying, heating a home larger than 1000sf or so, right? No? Then STFU with your nonsense, you pigs, you goons.
The book "Map of the Ancient Sea Kings" is very interesting. These maps show Antartica free of ice. The implications of these maps are huge. Map makers are still puzzeled over the brilliance it took to map these land masses so accurately.
Here's a link: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/mapas_pirireis/esp_mapaspirireis05.htm
"The Maps of Antarctica
Officially Antarctica was discovered in the early 1800's. Its existence is said to have been theorized by the ancient Greeks who realizing the amount of land in the northern hemisphere assumed that this mass must be balanced by a proportionate mass in the southern hemisphere.
Also, the continent of Antarctica, according to modern science, has been covered with ice for millions (sic) of years. This would make it impossible for anyone, especially the ancients to actually map its coastline.
Unfortunately for some there are maps, dating from at least the early 1500's that not only indicate the existence of Antarctica, but also map its coastline in amazing detail.
One such map is the Oronteus Finaeus World Map of 1531. The section of this map indicting Antarctica is shown below (click image to enlarge).
Keep in mind that this projection method is different than those that you are used to seeing today."
That was a quote from the site.
perhaps bonzai could post the picture of the Ice encased boat of the Global warming champion who bought the hook line and sinker of global warming and tried sailing the North West Passage, only to end up like so many before blocked by miles of ice that was not supposed to be there you know it all melted ..LOL
those maps were found prior to the modern era, they are a real problem for our understanding of history..somebody is very wrong. There is no good explanation just dismissed by history and ignored by "science".
Gavin Menzies' book 1421 gives some good evidence as to where the European maps came from.
The map was a gift from some time travelers who live in a time when the earth is devoid of icecaps. They went back in time just to yank our chains.
Apparently the icecaps disappeared because, after the demise of electricity, the only way to get ice cubes was to harvest the icecaps. Things were so bad that the only way to get by was by consuming massive quantities of alcoholic beverages on ice.
See? It all makes so much sense!
Wow, a fraction of a fraction of an unsustainable energy source.
LOL
Total BS article
The last frontier of oil -- please
No one predicted the Pennsylvania Marcellous gas fields was the last frontier
We haven't even tapped New York yet
Carbon is a very plentiful useful element
So is hydrogen
Carbon does not exclusively come from the sun
Photosythesis = plants = dinosaurus bones
Formal logic and deductive reasoning was never your forte, eh?
He might be an INTP. Seems clear to me.
Fools are truly abound today...
The issue is oil and he is babbling on using strawmen and shale NG plays...
Not to mention also serving up a healthy plate of word salad....
Did you also spend hours gaping at the jugglers and the clowns when the circus came to town?
More warmnick nonsense. Northern hemisphere ice at levels not seen since 2006. Southern hemisphere ice extent remains at it's ongoing positive anomaly.

Care to discuss the overall anomaly? Didn't think so...
Is this where you present us with your own cherry picked little snippet of data that appears to paint the picture you want it to? *cough*yamal*cough*
whatever starting points you give us, make sure its in the middle of a cold snap, just so the baseline trend can be shown as steeply as possible.
Oh would you care to elaborate?
I mean taking *all* the data is hardly a cherry pick...
http://tamino.wordpress.com/2012/09/20/poles-apart/
It is truly remarkable how deniers use the Rovian tactic of always using the methods that they accuse the otherside of using...
This is an example of a real cherry pick:
https://tamino.wordpress.com/2013/04/16/worth-more-than-a-thousand-words/
Now why don;t you run along as you are clearly way over your head in this discussion....
lol, there you go, reference an article whose opening statement belies a preconceived notion.
"As most of you are aware, Arctic sea ice has shrunk dramatically over the last several decades, because of man-made global warming."
Care to fucking prove it, or is the mere mention of it proof enough that its man and his evil CO2 that's responsible?
Oh, and a dissing of a Financial Post article. Cherry picking indeed! Please, refrain from addressing the yamal bastardization cherry pick I mentioned, and mention something else of very little consequence. Fucking "An incponvenient truth" wouldnt have even been MADE if it werent for Briffa's ass raping of statistics with his Yamal garbage!
Keep on drinkin that kool aid!
Yawn...
You got no game and it shows... You are just an angry sad fuck..
Total BS and more AGW nonsense...
Current climate warming is the result of our planet cycling out of its last glacial period. The earth has had thousands of temperature cycles between warm and cold climates in its 4.5 billion year existence. These natural [ see Milankovitch ] cycles occurred before human existence, and will continue until the Sun burns out…
The concept of human influence or anthropogenic global warming (AGW) is a failed theory put forth by the environmentalist left and supported by like minded scientists, educators and media type. It has become a [“green”] movement or [marketing] tool to facilitate their political agenda. The AGW climate models have been disproven, and critical AGW data has been exposed as false or manipulated.
Prominent scientists dissent on AGW: http://www.climaterealists.org.nz/node/943
NASA scientists “Co2 Not a Threat”: http://www.sys-con.com/node/2523162
1000 scientists disagree w/ AGW: http://cfact.org/pdf/2010_Senate_Minority_Report.pdf
1100 scientific papers dispute AGW: http://www.populartechnology.net/2009/10/peer-reviewed-papers-supporting...
Milankovitch cycles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles
See that nice smooth curve in this?
http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Carbon-T-F.jpg
That is a Milankovitch cycle and what "natural" climate variation looks like...
nice linear extrapolation of "Human Effectz!!! OH NOEZ!!!!" there with that stupid ass red line!
You didn't look very closely did you...
all the ice is vanishing yet "global warming is a hoax". Some numpties...
The ice is vanishing?
In the aggreagte, yes...
sure, if you take a specially chosen time's first derivative and assume it is a value that can be linearly extrapolated off into infinity, completely ignoring things like the solar cycles....
so hey by the way, why is the jet stream doing such wacky things again??? do your omnipotent models have any predictive capability there?
yeah, didnt think so.
they dont predict volcanism, either - but hey, our CO2 feedback system is SPOT ON!!!
haha, give me a fkn break.
What's that? the greeland ice estimates were all way off? oops, just another alarmist statement. retraction on page 492.
Demonstrate your claim...
Here is the Artic minimum data
Piomas Satallite Data
Now run along, there are some that are not intimidated by your bullshit bluster and "Gish Gallop" techniques...
Yes, you can see from pictures the ice is vanishing. The only way to pretend it isn't happening is to never look at the pictures.
Keep this shit up and you'll have me believing HAARP is real and was designed to melt the ice to get to the goodies.
