Watch The IRS' Lois Lerner Plead The Fifth - Live Webcast
As we noted yesterday, the IRS' head of exempt organizations who started the whole IRS targeting scandal, is testifying this morning and is expected to plead the Fifth. One wonders why, if as the IRS claims, there was no illegal or illicit activity involved. Watch her plead "da Fif" live here...

Bitch
We can't insult her for invoking her rights, but it should focus the DOJ's investigation. Surely if the government can intercept and record all our calls and emails, it should be expected to record it's own.
Plead da fif.
This is a typical example of right-wing exceptionalism. Why is that when the IRS invoices a group of right-leaning protesters for legitimately owed taxes, that the right immediately assumes that they are being 'targeted'? Besides, of course the IRS is going to investigate right-wingers when they explicitly flag themselves as potential tax evaders.
The problem is allowing Left-Leaning groups to avoid paying taxes they owe.
Like gub'ment employees who own millions in unpaid back taxes? Yeah, good times.
There's plenty of buffers in this olive oil business.
I have not done anything wrong...,
Oh, and I'm taking da fif...
Lol. The people get what they deserve. And, in this case, the people deserve a bitch to stick it to them with no justice. Perhaps, the people will awaken and rise to deserve better. As long as they worship and support these politicians and this political system, they deserve no better.
Not testifying whether you committed a crime and used gov't force against your opposition while a manager for the IRS - OK.
Testifying you paid taxes in accordance with the IRS' rules - OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
Can we have a little whine with that cheese[pope]...

How to avoid CIA VIP like F_S
"So how can journalists safeguard their sources and communicate without being overheard? How can they conduct sensitive research without having to watch their backs?
This book will show how to block intruders, set up secure communications, mask your identity online and browse and download anonymously, and store any amount of data without leaving a trace.
If that wasn't enough, the Deep Web is also a largely-unknown research and information resource. If you know the right entry points, you can mine a rich seam of multimedia files, images, software and documents that you cannot find on the Surface Web."
why do i think i should be looking at a menorah at the irs table????anyone...francis...
I have no idea what anybody is talking about...
they owe all those taxes because their is not a penalty for them...they get to participate in a payment program that caps the amount to pay....so it is benificial to them to pay them on a deferred basis....amazing....
The dirty secret of Madoff was that his rich investors like Elie Weisel and others set up "foundations" which were just a tax dodge. The majority of his investors were liberals.

The right/left false dichotomy are links in the chain of serfdom.
I thought MDB did better this morning... it's funnier than other posts of late.
MDB, I know you come on here to disrupt the story, but in this case I'm going to answer you because you're interpretation of events is incorrect. The IRS is not going after right-leaning protesters for 'legitimately owed taxes', they're going after right-leaning protesters... because they're right-leaning protesters. And this is not something the IRS has the right to do. Additionally, the nature of the IRS leaning on the right has shown that they are completely out of control. Finally, this story is not about right-leaning protesters, overall. It's about the IRS and their abuse of power as they are being used as muscle against opponents of this administration.
ACORN
God damned rich cunt
Err ... yes we can. That she has the right to say nothing doesn't change the fact that she's a cowardly sycophantic cunt for doing it.
I thought the 5th Admendment was about this situation:
I can't prove I didn't do anything illegal regarding matter x without revealing matter y, which you know nothing about but which IS illegal.
So what is matter y?
Trig, I respectfully disagree. We can insult her because she is a public official who has been knowingly engaged in all kinds of shady activity. She has no business invoking the fifth.
I think it is charming when individuals in law enforcement, and the IRS is largely that, hide under the fifth amendment to protect their own hides (and the hides of valuable connections) from exposure for crimes against non-governmental entities, i.e. taxpaying citizens. The fifth amendment is designed as a check against governmental overreach, not as a shield for governmental overreaching. Nice inversion there.
Also, who doesn't love the feigned outrage of the miscreant as she angrily and contemptuously obstructs Congress in its only too rare efforts to actually protect the people from the damned government? Da noive of dese people!
Much more interesting to read financial investigative journalist Pam Martens' take on this:
http://wallstreetonparade.com/2013/05/the-criminal-case-against-the-tea-party-cabal-and-why-the-justice-department-wont-pursue-it/

And with all due respect to Ms. Lerner, I'd much rather view the Beyonce swimsuit edition:

Then there's the Banksters-panties-in-a-wad editon:

Those Pam Martens links are fucking hilarious. What kind of shit is that dumb bitch smoking. I swear, the easiest way to get a liberal to shit his or her pants and go 100% batshit apoplectic is to say the magic words, "KOCH BROTHERS!"
That's too nice. I'd say TYRANT, OR DESPOT, OR TRAITOR.
Seriously, what she did was tyranny against the citizens of this country. She's an enemy of the state, a traitor. The French would have beheaded her.
That may have been the first time on ZH that I read a comment approving of the French.
It's an approval of the use guillotines, nothing more; happens here occasionally.
DHS, in an unprecedented move,
after acquiring all bullets in the US,
has sought to purchase all guillotines.
I thought they were invoking Marcel Marceau - in honor of the Fifth
Guillotine been watching, it has.
Point the finger back to us.
We allow it.
Fair point freewolf, roll the motherfucking guillotines.
Come on LOP a guilotine is too humane....Think of something a bit more barbaric.
Stone the bitch with Liberty Dollar coins.
Put the fascist in a pillory on the capitol lawn, throw whateverthefuck you want to throw at it!
Arrest her! Better yet stone her
Everybody must get stoned!
Hello PATSY!
I thought all the obama cunts hated the constitution, now they hide behind it? Fuck You Obama
"No surer sign of corruption or knowledge of corruption than when everyone starts pleading the fifth" - sorry I forget who said this, but it certainly rings true. Speaking "pleading the fifth", has John Corzine been executed yet? many farmers still waiting to be made whole. These dumb motherfuckers seem to be forgetting how important it is to maintain the "bread" in the "bread and circuses".
"To the best of my knowledge at this time I can't remember a thing."
Watch. When all is said/done,
nothing will come of it,
whether it's re: IRS, Benghazi,
or AP monitoring.
Let me preface this by saying I'm anti repub & demo, because I know I'm gonna get hammered for this one.
The Republicans do love their circuses! Seems like there's always two or three of them at any given time when there's a dem prez.
Seriously...if you think that Benghazzi, the IRS and Fast & Furious (to name just a few) are mere "circuses" then you are the problem. You are the kind of person that Obamamy is counting on to say "meh" , move along, nothing to see here....
So you, by NOT giving a shit, enable the asshole in chief to screw us ALL Again...
You don't remember all the 'gate' investigations, late Friday signing statements, weapons of mass destruction, Monnica ... The circuses just never end!
All this crap does is distract. Nothing important will get done, and various committees will drone on and on for years. Meanwhile, we'll keep piling up record deficits and the real criminal activity will continue behind the curtain.
Okay, never mind. I'm sure the current set of distractions are much more important than past distractions. Just don't look behind the curtain!
This is a bad thing?? I'd call it a bonus. What is so terribly important that only CONgress can do it?
Well, I'd like someone to at least try to address the coming economic collapse, and maybe the erosion of constitutional rights, but that's not gonna happen.
Just keep up the distractions and punch it over the cliff!
So chasing down corruption and improper use of force and intimidation by the IRS is "nothing important"?
The only problem with this whole thing, is that neither side will fix the root problem which is the very existence of an IRS in the first place. Tax consumption and you don't disincentivize hard work.
If they were actually doing those things, chasing down these problems, that would be something important.
Look at the Benghazi(SP?) thing. A couple months of 'hearings', nothing comes of it, a few months off, a couple other circuses, then bring them back for a while, nothing comes of it...
They just keep one circus or another in front of the general public, but nothing is being done.
What makes you think that anything else coming out of this congress will be valuable, if they can't even do something about this????
Issues like this are inextricably tied to the erosion of Constitutional Rights and the economic downturn.
"Issues like this are inextricably tied to the erosion of Constitutional Rights and the economic downturn"
Very good! That is exactly the opposite of what I'm saying. Thanks for clearly stating your position. Let me change it slightly to, hopefully, state my position.
Issues like this are distractions from the erosion of Constitutional Rights and the economic downturn.
So what you are saying is, "trying to prosecute erosions of the Constitution is a distraction from focusing on erosions of the Constitution"?
It sounds slightly less moronic the way you say it, but I like my way better, because it clarifies THE STUPID.
Okay, I give up. Enjoy your fake circuses. I'll just keep my head down over on my corner of the planet, but mark my words; Nothing but hours and hours of CSPAN posturing will come from all these 'prosecutions'.
Did you choose your name to post under , or was it bestowed upon you?
As long as he doesn't try trafficing in raw milk, or growing food in his front yard, he's untouchable.
Issa doesn't even make her sweat after she gets to make an opening statement. What a joke. DOJ has proof he paid to have one guy get a cement block to the head and another thrown off a building both in jail (I found this out here in the comments section). Issa is just an actor.
That's because the Republicans are HAPPY that the IRS was hassling the Tea Party. Th e Republicans do not like the Tea Party, and if they can get the IRS to do their dirty work, _and_ pin the blame on Obama, that's just a fricken hat trick!
Can't stand to look at these fraudsters anymore...
Use these: http://www.mostly-harmless.de/joo.html
I love it! What's better the Joo Janta or the neuralizer? Blank their minds and then lay any plausible B.S. you want on them. Sorry, forget the plausible part.
it's a good thing that it's sowing season. full moon's coming....PLANT MO SEEDS!
(don't forget, it's a tax-deductible activity if you got a farm "biz")
that's another great thing about jail, less camera time
the rope a dope
funny, when you ferret these assholez out individually they don't seem so terrifying
They put their Depends on one leg at a time....just like we do.
It is their access to, or control of, the monopoly of violence (the true power source of any government) which makes them appear so much larger than they really are.
the monopoly of violence...and an unlimited supply of get of jail free cards
Thanks Zerohedge, I can't get enough of her hotness. Love those bangs.
and the arrogant smirk on her zionist kisser...
repeat sorry
She should wear nothing otherwise this programme will be too boring to watch
Let's presume her guilty until proven innocent-that's the way it is if you or I have problems with irs.
no shit, take all her money!
Um, you are aware that by "voluntarily" supplying the IRS with the evidence (in the form of 1040) of what you owe in taxes, you've already proven/disproven your guilt, yes?
So...trail is pending?
Bitch wants out rather than being gangbanged.
Can't blame her.
ironic. i wonder how many people she has fucked over hard since working for the irs
There is a huge difference between being the fucker and the fuckee.
<Just ask anyone on the receiving end of an IRS fucking.>
ask willie nelson about the irs
Or ask Cognitive Dissonance. I had my own session in the IRS rape apparatus.
I'm sure you agree with Honorable Mr. Shulman that the people of the IRS are good public servants that work hard at fucking in the ass as many of those that they serve as possible.
'Specially since, when the IRS audits you, you don't get to claim protection under the Fifth Amendment.
It is interesting, as IRS bureaucrats and officials invoke the 5th in congressional hearings, that in United States v. Sullivan, the United States Supreme Court ruled that a taxpayer could not invoke the Fifth Amendment's protections as the basis for refusing to file a required federal income tax return.
I've said it a million times, but our rulers motto is "Rules for thee and not for me." Lowly serfs have no recourse other than to try and hide under the radar while the edifice around us crumbles.
Unfortunately, "Federal Protective Services" (which include uniformed Federal property guards) were moved under DHS ... check the org chart ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Protective_Service_(United_States)
History (partial):
FPS has resided in a number of different agencies over the years. The act of June 1, 1948, authorized the Federal Administrator to appoint special policemen for duty in connection with the policing of all buildings owned and occupied by the United States. In 1949, Congress enacted the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949, which consolidated real property functions within the newly created General Services Administration. The FPS force, known at the time as the United States Special Police, came under the supervision of the Protection Division of the Public Building Service (PBS). In 1971, the Administrator of GSA signed an order formally establishing the Federal Protective Force, later known as FPS, and the Civil Service Commission authorized the special classification title of Federal Protective Officer (FPO).
Initially, the main function of FPS was protection, as an integral part of building operations. For the most part, the force held fixed posts and performed duties that would be considered safety functions today, such as: eliminating fire and safety hazards, patrolling buildings, detecting fires, and providing the first line of defense in fighting fires; and answering visitor questions, assisting citizens, rendering first aid, and directing traffic when necessary. By 1960, the mission of FPS became the first line of defense against bomb threats, bombings, vandalism, mass demonstrations, and violence against Federal buildings.
...
Pursuant to the Homeland Security Act of 2002, FPS was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security and retained its responsibilities for protecting the buildings, grounds, and property owned, occupied, or secured by the federal government under GSA's jurisdiction. In addition to GSA facilities, the Act also provides FPS with the authority to protect properties held by DHS components that were not under GSA jurisdiction. ...
Considering that when you file your 1040 you are in effect incriminating yourself I tend to agree with the irony you highlight.
Exactly.
She admitted the I.R.S. was used as a punitive political instrument - but pleads the fifth?
I'm sorry, this isn't about you Lady, it is about your employer and our rights.
Tell the truth. I am so fucking sick of the corruption!
What a fucked up world we live in now. I love too how the Department of Homeland Security was protecting the IRS from the protestors yesterday. The IRS is a political weapon and a weapon of servitude for the serfs. my head is spinning from all of the nonsense any more. Please make it stop.
No one represents the people in the power.
Lerner...another Swedish name...oh ...wait...
more proof that the jews run everything...........

for those who enjoyed Marla's Midnight Mixes :
Taxman D Cut Edit
Let's bend her over, rip her panties down and put a large black mans dick on her ass lips and see if she starts talking.
Difference between this bitch and us is she can plead the 5th....we'll get taken to the back room and get beat half to death until they hear what they want rather it's true or not.
wow that would be an amazing congressional hearing.
I can see a Pay Per View feature series for these hearings in the future. Mix in a few midget spanish wrestlers and a donkey stripper with Ben Bernanki in a 5 point restraining harness with an apple in his mouth proned out and it would be a block buster series!
Distractions..
I just threw up in my mouth a bit, right there
So, she pleads for "one fight at a time", right?
I would plead the fifth in front of these ass-clowns too.
Wouldn't you rather shoot them, if they'd ever get in front of you? Think of the opportunity ..
So eye for an eye of you.
I did not want to encourage violence, but to show that I am appreciative of the urge you might feel.
The only urge I feel is to stop posting on this forum that whines about losing their own rights then screams to strip them from others. Sad really.
I can understand that. But what would we have left, if we even give up ZH? Nah, we have to man up and bear it. Don't you let youself be disheartened. Better days will come again. It may be sad - but you shouldn't be. Lighten up a little. We will not capitulate, we will not let them terrorize us, They will not prevail, and in the end we will be free.
So stop already. Pretty please.
Fair enough Bob, you win, I'm out.
Sac/Tyler I'll take the boot please, this place is useless.
I upped ya - you're right, fuu.
How sad some people do not realize the obvious inconsistency you state above.
... but this whole fiasco started because so many "tea-party" affiliates were declaring tax exempt status ... I can understand how some people think "tea-party" is a religion, but ...
If the Tides Foundation can be tax exempt, so should any Tea Party group.
Terrorist. Send her to Gitmo for "questioning". Tell her to bring a friend.
I think when my taxes are due next year I'm going to plead the fifth.
Hah! If you plead the fifth they'll take the half.
Isn't it great how the people that desecrate the constitution will shield themselves with it for their own personal protection?
Yup, wipe their ass with "that God damn piece of paper" and then hide behind it.
Anybody invoking the Constitution is a terrorist she should be immediately sent to Gitmo, now!
The irony is she is using it to protect herself from something she already said in public in her role at the I.R.S.
They all think they are untouchable until suddenly they are not.
Watching now.
New revelation - Not only were IG report interviews conducted without oath, the people who were being interviewed were being interviewed with their direct manager in the same room.
Don't like to use the c-word often, but it is so deserved in this case. Lois Lerner: fucking CUNT.
This is why I am quitting my "job" and going back to school for 3 years. No need to feed the beast with earned income.
Have the government pay for it too, then default on the loans. This is the only way you will be able to recuperate the money that was stolen from you while working.
Butt...butt...the Feminists have always said, "If women were in charge, things would be different."...What happened, Feminists?
They are out shopping for new shoes with Imelda Marcos.
She's pleading the 5th to protect herself from the Obama Administration...who might prosecute her as another whistleblower traitor if she tells the truth. Duh.
rico prosecutions against the irs!!!
+1 RICO
" She's pleading the 5th to protect herself from the Obama Administration. "
THAT may be very true ... shows who she fears most ...
Will somebody shut Cummings the hell up please?
The cameras affect politicians like catnip on a cat.
Jim Jordan sounds like he's been huffing helium.
She's pleading the fifth because her lawyers already know she's a criminal and isn't required to testify against herself. The good thing here is that overall investigation now has their bitch. They can throw some charges and her that will put her away for decades, then offer a saaweeeeet deal to sing on others.
If Congress had the will or the brains, they'd jail her for Contempt.
Go to Jail. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass the Treasury printer.
Can't watch these clowns any more. Where's that Howard Beale clip.

And the Republicans are making the mistake of going partisan.
This is not a partisan issue, it is a Constitutional Crisis.
Along with persecution of the AP reporters.
And the TBTF banks and bailouts.
And the FED chicanery.
No knock warrants.
No warrants.
Serfdom.
"And the Republicans are making the mistake of going partisan."
Where? Did you just see the Dem rep from Massachusetts? He was on fire ...
Hate to say it, but that is assuming that we still HAD a constitution.
correction...
And the TBTF banks and bailouts.
And the TBTF Deadbeat DEPOSITORS and bailouts.
until one of the High Monkeys asks why the IRS is domiciled in Puerto Rico, more bread & circuses...
Am I mistaken but isn't intimidation which is what the IRS basically did, along the same lines of boycotting, shunning, shutting down the businesses of; and eventual extermination of the Judens in Germany during WWII? Not saying being black is/was same struggle as being gay in Amerika ...but ....isn't it like this or at least the "beginnings" of such a terrible path? IRS = KGB?
Government lying to and hiding from itself. It's the government analogy of Wall Street trading with and profiting from itself.
Sustainable? Sometimes the Long Enough Time Line isn't very long at all.
Forceful tone of hearings and investigation is because they fear that THEY may become a target of IRS as well. Self protection at work.
is that the mating call of the irs? "i have done nothing wrong"
see how easy that was
90,000 parasitical criminals work for the IRS. "Land of the free!" Lol!
You can not pass an Amendment to the Constitution that violates the Constitution itself, PERIOD!!!
The sixteenth amendment doesn't authorize the taxation of "whatever source" but the "income, from whatever source derived." The use of the word "income" in that amendment is what prevents the Congress from defining income because there is no legislative enabling clause.
That would seem to mean that the congress also would be precluded from defining "whatever source." Since the net effect of the sixteenth amendment is solely to remove the "income" tax from the area of direct taxation, the principle on which the Pollock case was decided, thus removing the need for apportionment among the several states, that leaves the income tax in the area of excise taxes
This, then, leaves the congress in the position of being able to tax only that which was taxable prior to the passage of the sixteenth amendment, Duties, Imposts and Excises.
"... [the 16th Amendment] conferred no new power of taxation... [and]... prohibited the ... power of income taxation possessed by Congress from the be ginning from being taken out of the category of indirect taxation to which it inherently belonged...".
-United States Supreme Court in Stanton v. Baltic Mining (1916)
FACT: In briefs and argument before the Supreme Court in the case of Brushaber v. Union Pacific Railroad, both Brushaber and the Government claimed that the 16th Amendment provided for a direct tax exempted from the Constitutional apportionment rule. The High Court called this claim an "erroneous assumption...wholly without foundation."
FACT; Just weeks after the Brushaber Case was decided, Mr. Stanton, in the case of Stanton v. Baltic Mining Co. again claimed (35 times) that the 16th Amendment created a new class of constitutional tax, that being a direct tax exempted from the apportionment rule. The High Court said in this case that the 16th Amendment created "no new tax
FACT: In the Stanton and Brushaber Cases, the Supreme Court ruled correctly by excluding direct taxes from the 16th Amendment. The intent of the American People and that of Congress was never to directly tax the American People, but only to tax income severed from accumulated wealth
All income tax acts under Subtitle A of the Internal Revenue Code are based on the above, and are classified by the Supreme Court in Stanton v. Baltic Mining Co., 240 U.S. 103 (1916) as indirect taxes, which means they can only be excise taxes on privileges and may only fall on businesses and not directly on citizens:
You have made interesting points. These are not new and novel arguments though. Several people who have tried to make the case against the tax are resting in a cool place at taxpayer expense. don't get confused. The doors they are dealing with are not the Swinging Doors but are operated by sliding them
