IRS Hearing II - The Wrath Of Werfel - Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

With Lerner pleading 'da fif' and Steven Miller now long-gone, it is up 'new' IRS Acting Commissioner Daniel 'Danny-boy' Werfel to face the House subcommittee hearing music. While the focus (for now) is the IRS' targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we suspect the Dance-Prance-Revolution clips that have been so broadly disseminated this weekend may make an appearance.

and because we just couldn't resist...

“If there is ever a fascist takeover in America, it will come not in the form of storm troopers kicking down doors but with lawyers and social workers saying. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help.”
? Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning

“I believe in a relatively equal society, supported by institutions that limit extremes of wealth and poverty. I believe in democracy, civil liberties, and the rule of law. That makes me a liberal, and I’m proud of it.”
? Paul Krugman

“The Marxians love of democratic institutions was a stratagem only, a pious fraud for the deception of the masses. Within a socialist community there is no room left for freedom.”
? Ludwig von Mises

Will it come up that the cheapest Bronze Obamacare plan is $20,000 per year? And that the IRS is set to pursue and harrass (tax) non-enrollers? This guy likens the IRS to the bronze statue Talos from Jason and the Argonauts chasing down citizens.

Buckaroo Banzai's picture

"The sole condition required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it.  Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex, is simplified, and reduced, as it were, to a single principle."

--Alexis de Tocqueville

More on Lois Lerner...seems she used to be with the Federal Elections Commission.

She did such a thuggishly outstanding job there, she was promoted to the, IRS:

CHICAGO - Former GOP U.S. Senate candidate Al Salvi's (photo right) revelation this week that IRS official Lois Lerner offered to drop the Federal Election Commission's (FEC) 1996 case against him if he promised to never run for office again was the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

"Before Lois Lerner (photo right) took us before the federal judge, her last offer was for me to promise to never run for office again. That was always part of their demands," Salvi said. "Before that last offer, another FEC representative that reported to Lerner wanted $200,000 and a promise not to run."

Knowing his $1.1 million campaign loan to himself was legal, Salvi rejected the initial settlement offer from FEC attorney Colleen Sealander. In later conversations, Sealander lowered the amount to $100,000, then $40,000, but always with the additional promise to never run for office again.

"Every time we talked, I refused the offer, and Colleen said she'd have to check with someone," Salvi said. "I finally told her I'd like to talk to whomever she reported. That's when I got a call from Lois Lerner."

"Poor customer service" a friggin joke.

No Steve Miller?

He flew like an eagle.

While I certainly applaud any hearings into the loathsome IRS, and hope that maybe it will eventually be dismantled, I doubt that anything significant will come of all of this.

However, if there are real prosecutions and/or this leads to high-level Obama prosecutions (naah...), that might change some minds about there being no difference between the R-Team and the D-Team.

mberry8870's picture

Want to bet a dime that I do something "significant" AND NON-VIOLENT? Real question.

DoChenRollingBearing's picture

I would surely lose that bet, so "no"!  :)

MANUAL!? You want a stinking manual? There is no manual. You had to be hanging out on the BC chatboards when the miner's ASIC was being designed. Otherwise, you'l have no idea how it works.

I, as an individual, never thought that the U.S. Constitution and the Amendments were imaginary constructs to be defiled and deformed with an onslaught of words, contortions or gimmickry with the objective(s) of giving preferences to one individual over another. I find these current deformations of our Country to be in direct contravention to not only the Founding Father’s intentions but also in direct contravention to the actual words written in the U.S. Constitution and the Amendments.

Thank you for your comments. Your last 3 forms 1040 have been selected for a random compliance audit.

mberry8870's picture

You sir are dead wrong, if you meant tax years 2012, 2011 and 2010. I haven't filed since 2010, partly because I haven't made a dime. But more importantly I have directly told the IRS, TIGTA and the DoJ I do not possess the mental capacity to understand the code, irrespective of the ‘‘Plain Writing Act of 2010’’.

Note the following:

(2) COVERED DOCUMENT.—The term ‘‘covered document’’—

(A) means any document that—

  (iii) explains to the public how to comply with a requirement the Federal Government administers or enforces;

(B) includes (whether in paper or electronic form) a letter, publication, form, notice, or instruction; and

(C) does not include a regulation.

(a) JUDICIAL REVIEW.—There shall be no judicial review of compliance or noncompliance with any provision of this Act. 5 USC 301 note. Publication. Web posting. 5 USC 301 note.

RichardENixon's picture

I stand rebuked. We at the IRS will commence procedures to disband the agency post haste!

mberry8870's picture

That sir is the objective!!!! Can you just imagine what benefits society at large could derive from people doing slightly more productive matters? Go to something non malleable (like bit coin) tithe 6% to government and on to Insectopia!!!!!

If you wan't disband I will "disband" you, non-violently of course.

TheFourthStooge-ing's picture

There shall be no compliance with any provision of USC 301.

Fixed it for you.

Are you speaking of the once read "Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" that now reads "You have the unalienable rights to Life Imprisoned and the pursuit of ultimate serfdom"

who would have thought that the most interesting stuff in 2013....
would be... the IRS....

So a bunch of politicos will get air time as they ask the 'hard questions'.....and after all the sound and fury the tax code will be amended to further benefit those who have lobbyists on hand....

ejmoosa's picture

How long before they figure out they can use the IRS to target gun owners?

nonclaim's picture

They probably thought of that already but who wants to bugger an armed redneck...

Uh, ATF was a part of the IRS until 1972. They've been at this game a long, long time. ATF was still under the treasury dept. until 2002, when it got moved over to dept. of justice.

Connect the Tribe dots

What if they were actually targeting Christians? Wouldn't that be something.

M.E. you are a quick learner, not so much for the rest, they still think that giving Muzzies free reign, special exemptions, and the soon sole right of free speech is just an accident. They need to allow the barbarians into the gate to start their war on free men and balkanize the USA.

Dr. Engali's picture

These political scumbags jumping on the latest band wagon make me sick. You fucks knew what the IRS was up to yet you did nothing, until now when it's convenient....well you won't do anything now except blow a lot of hot air.

The IRS needs to be scrapped and replaced with flat taxes.

insanelysane's picture

I can't comprehend how a progressive tax system is even legal.  Taxes are law and laws are supposed to treat everyone equally.

Buckaroo Banzai's picture

Sorry, ANY income tax-- whether it is flat or progressive-- is slavery. When the government gets paid for your labor before you do, you aren't free.

If you are talking about flat consumption tax, well, I guess that's consistent with Liberty.

How about reducing the size of the Federal Gubmint by 95% instead?

TheFourthStooge-ing's picture

The IRS needs to be scrapped,

along with everything else in Vichy DC,

and replaced with

not a goddamned thing.

Return the land it sits on to Maryland and Virginia, if they want it.

There is going to be a huge debate about 501c3's and 501c4's. But there will be Zero discussion of 501c5's which is the section regulating government unions. The former IRS chief is a member ...  he is not a political donor ... but his wife is ... but they file their 1040's seprately ... except when they go to the Easter Egg Roll at the white house together....

Slightly off topic, but I have just finished watching a video by Stefan Molyneux titled

"There will be no economic recovery". Great facts and figures presented here on our financial situation!

I have never heard of this fellow before, does anyone have an opinion on him ???

Dave Thomas's picture

Some other philisophers on the interwebs deem Stephan as making shit up from time to time. Some folks say he's running a cult, if you read into some of the De-FOOing it's a little weird. But his commentaries on the state and such are spot on. He goes into weird areas that unsettle some folks so he makes a great target for ridicule but a lot of the stuff he puts out there is kind of airtight.

I loved his peice on the Olympics, he used the term "Rich Dicks on Ice." < -- Classic Molyneux
