Meanwhile In Philadelphia... Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

In a considerably worse 'crash' than the Japanese stock market, a building has collapsed in Philadelphia with 12 injured and 2 still trapped in the rubble. Just as suddenly as the market went from euphoric stability to volatile entropic failure, perhaps a massive infrastructure spending project (Quantitative constructing?) is required in a country in which major urban building can be perfectly stable one moment and a pile of rubble the next...

Infrastructure is crumbling but the welfare crowd just gets money for doing jack shit.

As I have posted before:

Put a 20% flat tax on income.  That translates to 1 day of labor per week for full time workers.

Have people on welfare work 1 day a week as compensation.

So when welfare types vote for higher taxes they will be voting to work more than the 1 day per week.  We'll see how much unlimited govmint people really want.

Whoa Nelly!

This is not an infrastructure failure aka randomn bridge failure this is a VERY badly executed demolition. Look at the D6 in the photo and the construction fence around the multistorey already half ripped down. The clown in the excavator accidently pushed the building he was tearing down on top of the thrift store. This is just pure construction negligence NOT infrastructure failure. The City of Philadelphia will also be on the hook for improper supervision of the demolition permit given to the ass clown who thought it was cool to demo this multistorey with a D6.

Obviously.

My dad tells a story from when he was working in Vietnam as a contractor with the State Dept. Across the street from his office was a three story building that needed to come down, and a bunch of workers showed up one day to demolish it by hand. Except they started on the first floor. Couple days later, the other two floors fell on them. On the bright side, they only had to actually demolish one floor, gravity managed the rest. In the back of my mind I wonder if that was what the demolition contractor intended all along.

They demolished a building behind my office a couple years ago...  it was an old brick 2 story building...  guy used a rented trackhoe to do it in the heat of summer...  it had a cab and air conditioning (which helps with the dust too).  I had to pass by it every day so I was keeping up with the progress daily...  well, one day I drive by and see that the cab has a huge dent in it and all the windows are blown out.  As luck would have it, a steel beam landed on the thing with the guy in it...  apparently he wasn't injured but he had to leave to change his pants for sure.

I guess the rental company told him he bought it because he continued to use it.

Lesson to building owners (i.e. banks that are warehousing properties) - Buildings need maintenance. The roof leaks, and in 5-10 years, you get structural deficiencies.

That event doesnt get talked about much.

The MOVE members were some nasty folk but what they got wasnt exactly due process.

PPD borrows a large assortment of automatic weapons from a sympathetic collector including two m-60s and a .50 m2.

PPD explosives expert creates bomb out of breaching explosives and 20lb c4 loaned to them by the FBI that was only supposed to be used to train explosive sniffing dogs.

State patrol enlisted for a helicopter but pilot says he is not supposed to go into potential live fire zones.  State patrol officer leery of what he sees going down.

To solve this dilema fire hoses are directed at every door and window so there is no possibility of the helicopter taking fire.

Dilema solved the bomb is dropped on the house via state patrol copter delivery system in the area where intel had disclosed fuel storage for generators and it starts to burn, so naturally all fire hoses are shut off.

Ten thousand rounds expended into burning house.  The noise of bursts of automatic gun fire rolls across the west philly concrete.  What was it ten children burned alive? I forget.  For the racists here at ZH they were all black so you can cheer this one instead of condeming it.

City block burns to the ground and city replaces all houses and possesions using union labor at incredulous cost.

Gee didnt learn about this in your contemporary American history class?

No conspiracy theory here.  The unwritten law in philly understood by all.  Kill a cop and justice will be administered by cops.  I dont agree with it but I understand it.  Children should be off limits.

Ahh, Americans. Look up the cost of original (reclaimed) bricks to restore your Grade I or II listed home on the market in Europe, and wince. Paying for the lime mortars and rendering is also expensive. Admittedly, you've solved it another way, by making sure you've no historical buildings left (barring the Disney / public attraction owned ones), but there we go.

Is corporate take over of the media so strong that they can completely avoid discussing the backhoe, crane and heavy equipment working at the site of the collapse. They shut down the truth before the bodies cool and blood stops flowing. Look at the before and after pictures. I would be interested if they shut down the alley street view, you'll see evidence of slum lord failure to safely maintain his brick building, mortar was missing, bricks rotting.
