Second Best Day For Stocks Leaves Bonds And Bullion Bruised And Battered
Volatility is back - though the averge joe-sixpack would hardly know it as stocks see their second best day of the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw its widest weekly range in 2013 - 460 points low-to-high; even as it closes green. The Nikkei the same (with another ugly week). The USD saw its worst week in 19 months (as JPY carry unwinds hit) but the commodity complex was very dispersed. Oil prices surged 4.6% on the week (so no tax cut there then!) while Silver prices plunged 3%. US Treasury prices close down for the sixth week in a row (for the first time since May 2009). The ramp in the late day today - which held us nicely green on the week in stocks - was absolutely ignored by credit markets which ended the week notably wider.
Aside from the opening day idiocy, this was the best day for stocks in 2013...
as all the indices managed to scramble back into the green on the week...
but it wasn't all easy money as builders ended the week -1.65%...
Volatility is back.. and it didn't work out so well the last few times...
with the Nikkei down for the 3rd week in a row...
As the USD was hammered the most in 19 months...
Treasuries down for the sixth week in a row...
Quite a week in FX markets...
WTI surged 4.6% on the week while Silver plunged 3%
Credit markets made it back to the unchanged mark on the week at the European close and then turned south to close the week notably wider....

Jesus God in Heaven I am going to shoot the fucking T.V.!
Bartiromo with hard nipples on a Friday again interviewing Christina Fucking Romer!
That disgusting Frankenstein's bride spewing the pus of debt, FED jizz, and delusional heroin inspired hopium.
Where is Rick Santelli ?
He was on, gently reminding the dim-witted that the 10 year T-Bill could go to 2.25% next week.
The wheels on the bus fly off all around.
Off all around.
Off all around.
The wheels on the bus fly off all around.
All through the Dow.
I may have to re-work my thesis.
No POMO today, Best day for the DOW in 2013.
WTF?
They're fucking with your head.
Yep, no risk-free front-running for non-club members. You want those pennies, then by God, you'll just have to dance in front of the bull dozer.
The day will come when TPTB disavow everything Bernanke has done to levitate the market.
You're playing poker with cheaters who can read your hand and all trades ahead of time.
Are you getting it now?
"what" ?
:D
calling fonestar...

So, hotpockets boy...

"I've got a lot more riding in physical silver than I do in BTC but it is funny how people support "free markets" until it doesn't look quite the way you expected it to. Doesn't it now?
Maybe BTC is what takes us to the next era and maybe the network forks and it becomes worthless. Either way that's the best $500 I ever spent to be part of the bravest, most daring monetary experiment in the past 500 years..."
Rick has been quiet lately. But gold took a beatiing and bonds/mortgages took a hit too.

With naughty talk like that, I'm not exactly sure Jesus will be listening to your plea for mercy.
Are you kidding? He was a Carpenter; they cuss almost as much as sailors.
George Carlin assures me the Buddy Jesus is a kindler, gentler god with no qualms against hard nipples.
Bite on the nip mentality?
Just a few thoughts (surprised not mentioned by this Tyler):
1.) the takedown in PMs today looks alot like the Friday takedown before that horrible weekend when GLD shed 10% on that Sunday night. (Including the stupid sell-off in the GLOBEX hours).
2.) Why would the dollar fall on a pro-taper (good news) day? The dollar should rise on the prospect of tapering QE.
3.) why would stocks rise on a pro-taper (good news) day? The stock fall was reversed right after the NFP report by algos.
4.) Is anything in the macro slowdown really changed? The NFP was just more or less in line with analyst forecasts. It will be revised lower.
5.) Does anyone really think the USD/JPY bounce will last very long? Maybe just long enough for some HFs to reposition themselves in another carry. If USD/JPY hits 93 (as I think it will), there will be some implosion, I am sure.
We hit the 50% retrace today in silver...from the April 18 spike low/April 21 spike high...and washed out some new, weak longs in the process. That's what I saw in silver today.
If you believe another giant gap down is in the offing for silver, I believe that would require a spike in interest rates...which would hit the broader market. And that is what RUT shorts are for.
Nikkei +1000 on Monday, and gold's gonna be fine. Market topography in speed-morph mode.
in all my years trading I have
1) not seen the amount of Bull-fucking-shit coming out of the mouths of those lying on CNBC
2) Seen the market so resiliant, a sign we are going up alot higher on the market.
They got everyone paniced about QE ending! what a load of bloody horse shit I must say.
They just use that to manipulate the market, then send it up higher like today....yes that old chest nut!!! you know exactly what I mean.
Check out the chart in crude!! -->> SEE IT HERE with the problems in the middle east that is going to go up way higher on the market soon, as it has an inverse head and shoulders.
salt in the wound - cnbc ends the day with romer - the 2008 architect of obamas promise to cut the deficit in half and reduce UE to 5.4% by the end of his first term
"the 2008 architect of obamas promise"
"the 2008 propagandist of obamas promise" - there, that's better...

winning? Days like these.........
Metals are fucked, raped to within an inch of life. Bummer but can't deny it.
You're mistaking Comex paper for actual metals. Ask the Indians and Chinese.
And of course the Comex price is collapsing, the exchange is in the process of failing, who would buy paper metals at this point?
Am I the only one that feels the sheep are being pushed into the barn to get sheared?
Actually, I think the plan is to bar the door and set the thing on fire.
Mmm, roasted mutton. That must be what is in Bilder Burgers.
Well, after they've finished raping them all.
Any chickens in there too?

Stocks can't go down in the US as long the pricks Bernanke and Yellen are alive.
Possible, but not much evidence Joe Public is making massive 401(k) reallocations to stocks. Instead, picture a leftover sheep balloon from Pink Floyd's 'Animals' tour converted to a Rose Bowl float, with wheels and a NASCAR engine, a trojan horse of sorts with an algo wolf in sheep's clothing inside driving fast, plowing over parade drum majorettes, batons flying in the air like ninja sword helicopters, terrorizing the crowd. Rather than an orderly march to get a haircut, I'm picturing a bit more lamb carnage . . .
+1 for the Floyd Animals reference.
Pigs (Three Different Ones) was on SAT Radio yesterday morning while I was driving my 14 year old son to school ( he is an avid Classic Rock fan and has been playing his Gibdon SG for4 years now...and is pretty darn good).
Was explaining to him the concept of the album and told him check out the lyrics...some interesting stuff.
My HS yearbook quote was from Dogs, and Animals is one of my all time favorite albums (yup...still call em albums !).
Ah, then I'll assume your handle is a reference to a certain Led Zep tune from Physical Graffitti, and that you likely own a drawer full of disposable lighters, in a rainbow of colors.
Though I'll admit I listen to more indiepop or classical than Floyd these days, I was a proud owner of an "Animals" 8-track in high school, and as I get older my appreciation for Seventies music has increased, particularly 70s Top 40, which really wasn't half bad, in retrospect (Steely Dan, Bowie, Supertramp, Genesis, Eagles, ELO, Hot Chocolate, America, etc.). Seemed like crap in the Eighties, but now, looking back, Seventies Top 40 has a certain unique character, either that or I'm having an ML crisis ...
You forgot Captain and Tennille!
At least the 70's didn't yet have that abomination known as autotune.
"Muskrat looooooove..."
Can't wait for the ramp on the 22 of November
nikk closes below fib 38.2 near 13022 with gap near 12634ish
Bullion Bruised? Really? I would be willing to bet that Bullion did just fine while the paper fraud was bruised by the gangsters one more time!! JP Morgan and their partner is crime Bernanke were back at it again. Any chance however slight, expect the evil hand guided by the evil mind to have their fun while the rest of the world laughs at their ignorance! Paper over Gold while they print 85 Billion out of thin air each month, that is the receipt for success??
One big question: how long can they continue to deliver silver?
Bought TFD....in silver...at the bell. Been a long time. Feels good...
yup, always nice to see a buying op arrive at eh same time as the cash flow is good :)
Might go boating this weekend
Good for you. I am gonna do the same.
I will be heading over to my LCS tomorrow morning for 10-20 oz's. Just not sure if it will be two 10 oz bars or 20 ASE's. Dont' give a rats ass about the preimums. Silver is on sale.
Fuck you's PPT
Pump to dump is all, it will be faded.
Agreed, and the evidence is clear in the last 15-minute candle in the Russell, a textbook inverse hammer, falling 0.3 % in the last 2 minutes. This shouldn't happen in the little caps if it's 'risk on', right? Either an algo getting out, or shorts getting in, and I'd bet the latter. Inside the Fed, the "B" word is undoubtedly being muttered with increasing frequency ...
Bitchez?
blowtorched
I was thinking "bubble", but I like your two answers a lot better.
Bullshit ?
We still need to retest the 50dma. The central planners will decide which way we go next Wednesday.
You do realize all those chart patterns spoken of accumulated their historical database pre HFT and algos?
There are no humans trading. Technical analysis was always supposed to be a measure of human emotion. So why even think about it?
The algo's will retest the 50d and Wednesday the bankers will take away the punchbowl or not. Satisfied?
Look, I agree with you in that this all ends in a heaping pile of shit eventually. I've given up trying to decide when or how. For now I play the game, my own way.
The algos will do no such thing. They watch who's trading and how much, they know who's human or not and they set prices & drop quotes (quote stuffing) to fool human or machine in various ways per MICROSECOND. These 50-day moving averages, head-and-shoulders nonsense bullshit has no place in the equation. It flat out is never looked at.
"EclecticParrot", are you sure..."a textbook inverse hammer,"?...Just may be that "grave stone" in disguise.
in today's reality, very little, is what it seems to be
Yep. Already fading RUT futures...-7 pts from the bell...and counting.
A couple of 5% days on the Nikkei and we will be back in business ...
BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BOTS BERNANQE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ooh, a new game!!!
Wait, this one's just like that old one ... duck-duck-goose.
Except every time the banksters call "goose" they take someone away from the circle and shoot them in the leg.
Funny how those who actually have bullion gold and silver and realize the end-game never seem to be those taken out of the circle, though.
bull market in spying

Well, now I know why they had the nice piece on US Mint gold and silver coins at the end of Nightly Business Report the other night: entice the muppets with the shiny then give them 220V while they're thinking about it. Negative conditioning. Squeak like a lab rat.
I'm betting the fed keeps a lid on this thing for awhile. Tight ranges on the indices, btd is gonna get you a slap on the wrist for the next couple of months. I'm keeping some VOL, cause I like surprises.
yeah. keep buying the VIX and keep getting your hat handed to you. Who here remembers when the VIX actually instilled the fear of God into you on a print of anything north of 16. It used to be that as the VIX approached 20, that was the time to get the hell out of dodge, and always the print would rise to 30 or 40. Now, when the VIX reaches 17 - 20, fuck, that is a total buy signal. And it has been that way every time for the last 3 years or so. So, the VIX, is a terrible marker for the market. I mean it used to be pretty good. Now it seems to me that its signals have been stood upside down. Buy when it looks to break out, and hold for any print below 17. A print of 30 will never happen. I repeat, will NEVER happen.
I think this is the final shakeout before we BULL back upward. PAR SAR flipped to bullish this week, and this is a test of the neckline we just passed before breaking 1400 for a bit.. I bought big into close so we shall see. All in my opinion and GLTYA
What do I do with these gold mining stocks I keep thinking I'd been getting at bargain basement prices such as Aussie miner Newcrest? Gold goes up, but the ASX drops so they drop accordingly. The ASX jumps, but gold is hammered, so they also drop accordingly! AU$17.69 to AU$12.35 in three weeks!
if owning these shares doesn't give you controlling interest of a mine you really want,
if there's no bullion payout from holding the miner shares or bonds,
you pretty much got fucked.
The only way you should ever go into any stock is if you have studied well enough to know it inside and out and be convinced that you are investing into a good solid company. If that was your case when the price goes down you jump to buy more, like wit any bargain. You need to be happy it goes down, that is the test, like some of my friends who are gold bugs and you see them with bigger smiles everyday as gold goes down... Since all of them are not planning to sell or speculate with gold but to preserve wealth the cheaper it is the more they can buy the happier they are. They know that in the long run their premise is as solid as gold :)
Took more 1 oz Credit Suisse gold bars at 12:31 PM today. They will be put away in safe-keeping for years.
Saving in gold. 12 years ago, I asked an Indian MBA colleague of mine how did he save. He told me that since he was a student he would buy gold coins to put his money away. I remember telling him that in that way he was not making his money work, he was much younger than me, smiled and said that those were his savings and that he didnt want to speculate with them, too much hard work to get them, that he preffered to make money withothers people money and to get a cut of that, with them not him risking it. Who is laughing now? Also, do you know where does Jim Kramer park his personal money? Gold, gold miners and real state...
NFP number is good but not too good so QE will continue so Gold will up naturally but Gold was hit hard 3 times before NFP even release. Someone tried to protect large short positions or set the tone for today's trade. Just need one investor file lawsuit against these bastards. We used to believe our system is 'check and balance'. Who is doing 'checking' nowadays if MSMs are bought out and so are Congress and Judicial system.
commods on the way down and that includes gold
By the way, MY MAIN MAN, superb job(my hat off to you MY MAIN MAN) keeping any and every, abreast of what's going on in this global economy and yet, there are those who read and I assume, understand, what is being taught, yet, continue to participate in these "CRIMINALLY" rigged markets, by looking for entry points!
If you agree with what the "CRIMINALS" are doing, continue to look for the good "entry point" or "BTFD"!...But, if you are with "MY MAIN MAN" and against the "CRIMINALS", add a good "short" position, for "SOLIDARITY" or go stand over there with the other "CRIMINALS"!!...get out the way
