I agree the secularists in Turkey are pissed off as they watch their country slip into the Caliphate. However, just as the occupy folks needed a few million from Soros to get the ball rolling, from what I hear the Turkish Military is supporting the protesters as payback, passing out gas masks etc. Let's hope a similar scenario happens here when the time is right.

Be that as it may, lets just say someone might be hypothetically really pissed off about the desecration of their Hagia Sophia, and that grudge has been smoldering for about ohh....... 800 years. And they might just slip the Turkish Military a few extra million to start some shit as payback.

phyuckyiu : " from what I hear the Turkish Military is supporting the protesters as payback, passing out gas masks etc."

it was a one-time event based on the decision of a few soldiers whose HQs happened to be close to the tear gas bombing scene. the military has not declared or implied such a general support.

as for the rest of your post, yes, i have a feeling that NGOs are supporting the rioters' case by a systematic work in twitter and facebook. they formed groups and post very intelligents stuff and whatever they post, they translate it to english for maximum footprint.

keep in mind, the revolution -if it ever happens in US- will not be televised. you will probably follow it over social media, such as twitter and facebook. i used to think that these services were useless crap but no, they seem to be essential to get well-informed and organized against state tyranny.

the NWO doesn't care if a country is run by tyrant or not, they care if he follows the orders and does not do any stupid shit. erdogan did not declare war on assad and erdogan keeps the oil-gold trade with iran. that's two big minuses in their book, methinks.

I was thinking the same thing. Most Americans watch this on the news and think, "wow, things are really getting bad over there!"

What they fail to realize is the absolute shitstorm that would ensue if protesters tried to organize a vocal and active public resistance in the U.S. Hint: water cannons and tear gas would be the least of their concerns.

If you watch the videos of the protests in Turkey, the cops take WAY more shit from the protesters than the roid raging special ops wannabe U.S. law enforcement McNinjas would take. If U.S. protesters tried anything even close to what is going on in Turkey right now, there would be blood in the streets - mostly the protesters blood. At least at first.

Also, dirty incident response drill nuclear militia lockdown homeland shooting evacuation explosion SWAT bomb  facility attack crash looting DHS bird flu worm cyberattack Obama etc. etc.

Whats Hmmmm about it??

Its very clear actually, there IS NO "war on terror", there is however a global war for resources and control of the distribution of those resources! Once you get your mind out of the CIA/NSA controlled propaganda machine from 9-11 and wake up to the reality of what is going on, it becomes VERY CLEAR!

$400 million to Eqypt = access to the Suez canal, nothing to do with the fucking "brotherhood"

$200 million to the "syrian rebels" = blockage of a Iranian/Pakistan pipeline for Nat Gas thru Iraq as well as a destruction of the relationship with Russia and Assad, for a sea port transport system for sea movement of nat gas and oil, nothing to do with islam!

I hope I dont have to explain the fucking the Stasi tactics!

Well he is a politician ... that's a bit of a give-away.

I liked Selco's observations about politicians, the worst most vile, viscous corrupt and murderous people in bad times, always become the enriched landed politicians and also philanthropists 'big-men' in ensuing good times. That's what you get with 99.9% of all politicians on earth - they are always playing society, and will turn on 'the people' in an instant, whenever they think then can benefit, or survive, by doing so and can get away with it.

Erdogan is most likely a secret jew just like the so-called Father of Turkey, Ataturk and the Young Turks who carried out the Armenian Genocide that the Holocaust promoters of today suppress. The head of Atlantic Records years ago was the Jewish-Turkish Ahmat Erdogun which supports that Erdogan is a jewsih name:

"The Donmè ("convert" in Turkish), was a Hebrew heresy whose followers converted [?] to Islam in the 18th century. They were most heavily concentrated in Thessaloniki. According to the Great Hellenic Encyclopedia [Megali Elliniki Enkiklopethia]: "It is generally accepted that the Donmè secretly continue to adhere to the Hebrew religion and don't allow their kind to intermarry with the Muslims."

The disproportionate power and influence (in light of their number) that the Donmè had on both the Ottoman Empire and on the Young Turk movement has been the subject of a great deal of commentary by many observers and researchers. The eminent British historian, R. Seton Watson, in his book, The Rise of Nationality in the Balkans. London, 1917 (H Gennisi tou Ethnikismou sta Valkania), wrote the following: "The real brains behind the [Itihàt] movement were Jews or Islamic-Jews. The wealthy Donmè and Jews of Thessaloniki supported [the Young Turks] economically, and their fellow Jewish capitalists in Vienna and Berlin -- as well as in Budapest and possibly Paris and London -- supported them financially as well."

How does this lapdog status relate to the resignation of the heads of the Turkish armed forces two years ago. Did one cause the other, or were they just coincidental to other factors in play? Thanks.

the generals in prison are secular and devoted to ataturk and his reforms. they would hardly take orders from erdogan. he knew it. the police set them up with fake evidence and fake witnesses, and simply jailed them. the judges belong to erdogan, too. otherwise they would not accept all that fake evidence and bullshit.

the name of the setup is ergenekon. it's a fake story about plotting a coup de etats. some generals who were not convicted but still could not stand seeing their long-time colleagues in prison resigned. some did it to protest erdogan. some could not not stomach the situation any longer.

the generals remaining in the army seem to be loyal to erdogan so far. probably they don't care about ataturk and his reforms any longer.

Turkey is an enigma, on one hand they seem to be supportive of Iran, which I respect. On the other, they have not only served as an oasis for the al quaeda aligned terrorists, but they have been a key logistical partner in holing them up in iskenderun, and marshaling them into incirlik air base. Let's not forget the traitor chirs stevens lost his life in bengazi ( and other guys who probably didn't know better as well) because Stevens was meeting a TURKISH offical there to arrange transport of weapons and people to Syria.

So Erdogan of Turkey has been in some schitzophrenic manner trying to have his cake, and eat it to, to make a new empire. Apparently brutalizing some kids who were origianlly camped out in a park protesting was the spark that lit the fire.

Seems to be just a coincidence, that riots escalate in Istanbul as Bashir al Assad is preparing to regain control of Aleppo. Aleppo is not al Kusair, which is close to Hisbollah land. Sheikh Nasrallah and his fighters know the infight, street row by row. But Aleppo is not in the backyard. Erdogan is supporting the rebels, he want's to get rid of the Kurds. Nasty game to be followed, will give guidelines in the MEA.

Hezbollah helps but Syria has a large hardcore army and when it gets rolling it will mow-down rebels wherever they go to reorganize. Assad has been preoccupied with covering his borders and other areas until now, but what Hezbollah brings is the needed mobility and initiative which can quickly change the balance and momentum, so that Assad can then bring more of his forces to bear. The result will accelerate, and it will be overwhelming, simply because now Assad's military is much more hardened and ready and able to act. At which point Hezbollah's contribution will become relatively less significant, and also less noticeable/visible.

I tend to agree, Element.  That, and the recent confrimation  from Putin that Russia was in Assad's court to stay.  Delivery of those advanced weapons systems was the game changer.  It was Obummer's F.U. moment from Putin.

Long ago, I posted these same sentiments.  Anyone with even a slight grasp of how much Russia has invested in Syria, and how important the country is in the long run, should know they would not walk away from their only base outside the former Soviet Union.  This is especailly true when you realize the strategic value of Tartus on the Mediterranean.  Just look at the map.

Add in the fact that we can not invade Syria with Erdogan in power and the formula is there for a major escalation inside Turkey and probably Iraq in the weeks to come. The Kurds reaching a peace agreement (for now) with Erdogan really set the CIA back as they were counting on having an excuse for a resurgence of Turkish domestic military power over the civilian population.

Hence having "a man who is in line with our interests and has a firm hand on the till" is what really maters - his ideology is unimportant.

Oh, how far down the rabbit hole should we go, today?

It gets scary!

I believe that deteriorating economic conditions are usually a precursor to any riot, regardless of the cause.  Stealth inflation can lead people to resort to violence (see: uprisings in Egypt - started because people couldn't afford bread).  In other words, I believe Central Banks play a role in every riot/uprising you've seen in the last few years, including this one.

Stated reasons by those protesting:

#1 Crude Islamification of society / APK disliking cultural Ataturk heritage so tend to "accidentally" destroy it when rezoning / building

#2 Neoliberal economic policies (privatization) mixed in with some good old fashioned nepotism (all the goodies going to relatives / friends of APK)

#3 Usual information / MSM control bullshit, but run by people stuck in thinking only in terms of TV, not Social Media ("Social media is the devil" type inability to grokk it) which means the APK has been comedy gold at mismanaging / handling the new data war [CNN penguins. Hmm, the more I think about that one, the more it might actually be genius, although I had assumed the USA was pro-APK at this point]

#4 Split between West facing urbanites vrs Rural traditionals (again, a classic one, just the gaps between the two are far larger than most 1st world countries)

#5 Overly harsh repression from the get go leading to spreading of sympathy for protestors accelerating; started off youth, now older labor movements etc joining

#6 Historical use of judiciary to jail reporters / dissidents in blatant corrupt manner (Turkey has the worst jailing rate for reporters in the region); they nabbed 73 lawyers today, which any French King will tell you is the wrong move

#7 Perception (perhaps unwise) that although purged, the military would step in if things got out of hand and 'restore Democracy' a la Ataturk; military so far has been completely uninvolved, at least physically

#8 It's 2013, End of the World is on like Donkey Kong (but more likely, worsening economy & rising unemployment)

There's plenty more. What *is* interesting is that (classic image I'm having trouble finding) you can find what makes it really potent in a single picture - three people, one making the peace sign [tech urbanites], the other the clenched fist [Labor / Resistance] and one making the wolf sign [hard core nationalists]. So basically, you can ally these three ideologies against radical / corrupt Islam fairly easily. This has not gone un-noticed. Tony Blair speech, 10th June, 2013[1]

As revolutions go, if you wanted to plan one, I'd give this an organic score of 7.7 / 10 since the precursors are so easy to forge from your base materials. Goad APK into being more APK than is wise, smother them in butter at Davos so they think they're creamy good and secure, then watch it explode. I don't know the play book, and I'm no expert on Turkey, I'm just going on what Turkish students etc are saying. I could be totally incorrect.

[1] If you can't see Blair's angle on this post then do ask.

The military role is important because it's what stymies the police from opening up with weapons on protesters, as that could easily precipitate the military to take over the streets and supplant Govt's power or call it into question. Politics, policy and police all have the same derivation because they're inseparable to the unity of political power. And the military would really screw the Govt over ... if the police go too far.

The protesters think the police have gone too far.

Okay, now name one country other than North Korea or Somalia where the same criteria don't apply...

You have not gotten to the heart of the matter.

And this is about as organic as a BigMac with fries and a large diet coke. More like "impatiently waiting to be co-opted" by powerful, entrenched interest groups. Like every other revolution in history. There is the revolution, and then there is re-revolution.

"Stated reasons by those protesting."

I don't have the intel to guess who's really in play, although if you read my link you might find some interest in it, given Mr. Blair's record on foreign relations. That's where my extra 3.3 is coming from, and I did mention Davos (which is where PKK + arms to Syria rebels was openly discussed by the Turkish ministers).

Judging purely by the action, it is organic - the police have been extremely gung-ho since day #1. However there's probably an info war being raged about getting social media out. (Since, you know, ME states often employ EU security companies to track / shut off communications all the damn time and the AKP won't be any different).  Also, you fail to note that different cultures and different Nationalities react very differently to these conditions - another notable feature of the protests was an early and highly unexpected alliance between the three main football teams' supporters; they usually spend their time kicking the shit out of each other. I've already mentioned the unity between Peace - Left Resistance - Nationalist causes (which simply cannot occur in Greece, for instance, due to their history).

If you want to learn more, there's vast numbers of white papers from the EU all about how to police / manage / direct / kettle / steer / enrage mass numbers of crowds that are easily obtainable with some Google-Foo (And some very high tech crowd modelling software being sold if you also know which market to ask) which I do not doubt Turkey's police have been well trained in.

If you go find the previous thread, you'll see my comment about Branding - the education level of the AKP (and bronze level staff in particular) may simply too low to run it well enough. I've already stated that AKP is using the G8 / 20 playbook visa vie "anarchists with petrol bombs"; I can't prove any training they may-or-may not have had with professional policing trainers for the other stuff - but given the tech level of their paramilitary police, their spend is certainly equatable to most smaller EU states.

That was a serious response since you were being nice: did you like your SF fanfiction I wrote for you?

The significance of this development is greater than most people realize, and certainly something I'd have never known but for reading the Asia Times article linked below. Turkish football provides a clear etymologic illustration of the source of the word fan from fanatic. Fans of these three teams quite literally kick the shit out of each other (a result of the relaxation of bowel muscles upon death), that is, unless they stab the shit out of each other.

That these three football fan groups are now working together is a stunning development.

The word ‘Eden’ is translated by Hebrew scholars as meaning ‘pleasure’ or ‘delight’, a reference to the fact that God created the garden for the pleasure of mankind. This is not, however, its true origin. The word ‘Eden’ is in fact Akkadian – the proto-Hebrew, or Semitic, language introduced to Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) by the people of Agade, or Akkad, a race that seized control of the ancient kingdom of Sumer during the second half of the third millennium BC. In their language the word ‘Eden’, or edin, meant a ‘steppe’ or ‘terrace’, as in a raised agricultural terrace.

In the real world, science has spent billions of dollars making sure those types of paramilitary vehicles are totally immune to the heat of petrol, and even have some really nifty self-extinguishing foam dispensers. The videos you see of one "being on fire" is total theater. South Africa (G4S) has even managed to make bullet-proof foam mixtures that can be automatically deployed.

USA will side with the Islamist mercenaries, as we have everywhere else on eart.  USA will militate against christian populaces, wherever they find them in that region - Turkey's borders were open to syrian christians fleeing death and destruction; ditto for jordan.  therefore the thugocracy now in control of the DC-USA will sabotage those "friends".   DC-USA drove christians [the surviving ones] out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and working on Pakistan and of course Egypt.  few refuges remain for them - and I"ve noticed there is nary a finger being lifted in DC-USA to  allow refugees to come here.

Just two examples: the U.S. sided with Bosnian Muslims against the Christian Serbs, and strongly suppored the communists in Rhodesia and South Africa against the white Christians. Here in the country formerly known as America, White, Christian immigration is now severely restricted compared to third world immigration. Muslim history is officially celebrated and thousands of mosques get special protection, while Christianity is still on the run. The U.S. government is clearly the enemy of original Americans.
