Snowden's "Shocked" Girlfriend Takes Down Her Blog, Keeps Flickr Photos Online
The search for more clues about Edward Snowden's life and motivations inevitably led the mainstream media to his longtime girlfriend Lindsay Mills, 28, who until recently described herself as "world-traveling, pole-dancing super hero." Why past tense? Because as of today, her blog, L's Journey, no longer exists. Of course, this being the NSA-controlled internet, there is always a cached (we use the term loosely) version of everything somewhere, and the full blog can be found at the following link.
Of note is the body in the last blog post:
For those of you that know me without my super hero cape, you can probably understand why I’ll be refraining from blog posts for awhile. My world has opened and closed all at once. Leaving me lost at sea without a compass. Surely there will be villainous pirates, distracting mermaids, and tides of change in this new open water chapter of my journey. But at the moment all I can feel is alone. And for the first time in my life I feel strong enough to be on my own. Though I never imagined my hand would be so forced. As I type this on my tear-streaked keyboard I’m reflecting on all the faces that have graced my path. The ones I laughed with. The ones I’ve held. The one I’ve grown to love the most. And the ones I never got to bid adieu. But sometimes life doesn’t afford proper goodbyes. In those unsure endings I find my strength, my true friends, and my heart’s song. A song that I thought had all but died away, when really it was softly singing all along. I don’t know what will happen from here. I don’t know how to feel normal. But I do know that I am loved, by myself and those around me. And no matter where my compass-less vessel will take me, that love will keep me buoyant.
The WaPo, which was one of the two outlets tracking the PRISM-gate fallout, has put together what little is known of her narrative.
Edward Snowden, the government contractor who leaked documents revealing a top-secret government surveillance program, was so cautious and distant that even his girlfriend of eight years referred to him as “my man of mystery.”
For a 29-year-old who made his living in the digital world, Snowden has left remarkably few online traces. But as reclusive and private as he was, his longtime girlfriend, Lindsay Mills, 28, who moved with him to Hawaii last year, was outgoing and expressive. Writing in a blog that has vanished from public view, Mills, a native of Laurel, told of having to “kidnap” Snowden and “force a little adventure” on him to get him to join friends on a hike to a waterfall.
Mills’s blog, “Lsjourney,” in which she described herself as a “world-traveling, pole-dancing superhero,” was publicly viewable after Snowden announced Sunday that he was the source of leaks to The Washington Post and Britain’s Guardian newspaper about the surveillance programs, but the blog had been taken down by early Tuesday.
Friends of Mills confirmed that she wrote the blog and that the boyfriend she refers to as “E” was Edward Joseph Snowden. Mills, who moved to Honolulu with Snowden, graduated from Laurel High School in Maryland in 2003 and from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2007.
In her postings, she described swing dancing and pole dancing at venues in Hawaii, and being alone for two weeks starting in late March because Snowden was headed to the mainland for a two-week business trip.
Friends said Mills was completely unaware of Snowden’s decision to leak classified records detailing surveillance programs through which the United States collects reams of e-mails, phone records and electronic data.
“I just talked to her,” said a friend of Mills’s in Hawaii. “I know she didn’t have any idea.”
Mills did not respond to messages left on her home phone or cellphone. Efforts to reach her father, mother and stepfather also were unsuccessful.
However, as the saying goes, one picture is worth a thousand words. So we have managed to track down quite a few pictures. Of Lindsay that is, courtesy of her all too public Flickr profile (it appears her boyfriend did not warn her about posting too much of yourself online).
So while Lindsay may not share her (ex-)boyfriend's distrust of the internet and documenting every facet of your life on it, all we can say is Edward had very good taste.

Kinda hot, in a strange way like you're worried if she took away the face cover it might be a dude?
Yea...
Itty bitty titties....
She has talent.
Well, other than her writing, perhaps.
Interestingly enough, seemingly most of her photos are self-portraits.
What is with the ass shot, always ? Provocateur.
SOP
The term "hero" is thrown around with reckless abandon these days.
Soon we will all be heroes just for getting up in the morning.
is snowden a manufactured hero? worth considering:
http://www.redicecreations.com/article.php?id=25567
wow.
this has turned out to be a very interesting story.
we could do with a little less about the snowden guy, however.
and less about the nsa and the documents and blah blah blah.
where did she grow up? when was her first pole dancing performance? does she have more photos? does she have a sister?
i have about 30 bars within a ten mile area with all kind of pole dancing superheroes.......
and based on the narcissistic nature of her pics, maybe doing what he did was not that tough of a choice ....hi five
Is "pole dancer" the politically correct name for stripper?
high heels model is proper I belive
Next Stop... 'AMERICA'S GOT TALENT'
~~~
ZH'ers... As of today, all your teenage daughters want to grow up to be pole dancing superheroes...
that is 180 degree change for fathers, whose only goal was to keep their daughters off the poles....
He'll be hooking up with a Chinese bird 100x as hot as this chick who will actually look after him.
Tradin' up.
Too skinny.
Does she charge $300 extra for anal like Suzy 'Favor' Hamilton? Inquiring minds wanna know. You don't make a flickr profile like that unless A) You're trolling for the higher end escort biz like Suzy, or B) You're trolling for cock 24/7, but what do you expect from a silk dancer/pole dancer. At least her trainer will keep her company now. Cough.
Photo's of Snowed-em's scantily clad girlfriend...??
Tyler Drudge, you are something else........
So she may be a $bill-stuffed thonged, lap-dancing a-cup spinner abandoned by her guy who has gone out for sushi permanently on her, (or at least until someone sanctions his ass), but yeah, she's got a certain doability quotient, (though you may tire of her rather quickly once the pole-dancing exercises are over and she then wants to "talk about her feelings"). Until then, heck yeah, you could be her next man.
Should be easy for her to find work wherever he ends up. Russia has lots of titty bars.
Back in the day we just called them whores. But I am old fashioned, so down arrow away.
Whores deliver big bangs for their bucks.
NSA spys? Not so much...
She's a 7 at best.
You say that now, but have you ever been Kegel'd by a swimmer/gymnast (no a stripper is not a gymnast but thanks for playing) before? You'll be adding points right and left. Suzy Hamilton had a -very- dedicated clientele.
Technically, her act is a Cabaret act. Which may or may not include Pole Dancing.
Nothing to see here -- literally. Move along folks, move along.
The correct nomenclature is "metallic polecare giver". Any carpal tunnel syndrome aquired through excessive corner booth handjobs after the dance will soon be covered by Medicare, and this will cover 7+ overnight hospital stays. Also knee replacement possibly covered (After nude exam by hospital physician testing knee to carpet dexterity) if employer doesn't provide on the job kneepads.
There will also be a Board formed (Wenches, Exhibitionists, & Adult Lewdness Together for Health) "W.E.A.L.T.H." to ensure these regulations will be properly followed. It will be headed by.........Anthony Weiner
I just leaked a little too.
kabuki theater
I'll make you famous...
Agreed. Asinine usage by the easily impressed to the dumbed down
More photos!
(anybody already say that?)
She has the body of a 12 year old boy athlete. Not sure why ZH is getting all flustered about this narcissitic cunt.
It's the 'ladyboy' intrigue... Ladyboys & the NSA go hand in hand...
GF willingly posts pole videos on youtube and this guys complains about invasion of privacy by NSA?
Choice, man, CHOICE.
~"Ladyboys & the NSA..."~
SHWING!
Speaking of 'immature'... maybe your abusive and vulgar language is not ready for Prime Time? Or even for most ZH readers?
Google "light hearted."
I don't mean to sound paranoid, but the authorities just took your attention away from what really matters.
Yep, pole dancing free spirit was co-habitating with the whistleblower. Just lost the three "moral majority" members who gave a shit about the pervasive spying.
Bingo!
Seems rather narcistic, I wonder what she does for a living. I wouldn't be surprised if she lived off of Snowden's income and did silly stuff as her "job".
narcissistic is the proper spelling, a spelling probably a narcissist came up with.
@The Juggernaut: "She has talent".
Yes, she should go on the next season of DWTS -- since Pole Dancing does not qualify as having previous "Dance" experience. And since she copied Derek Hough's choreography moves.
So this is what Tom Petty would look like dressed in lingerie..........
+1 LOL
Maybe it's Tom Petty & Lori Petty's daughter...
Petty? Funny name, but sounds familiar.
Does he race Go Karts?
Don't know 'bout the Go Carts, but he likes to dance with Mary Jane...
LOL. And you know what 'she' is singing to Edward now:
'You don't ha-ave to live like a refugee.' {background vocals: don't want to live like a ref-u-jay'}
Ugh...Lunatic!! Totally ruined this for me dude lol.
tit's.... they are not there...
and I don't like woman showing muscles. it's creepy.
Pretty good camera work....obviously a professional shoot....so to speak
This woman is a ripped elite athlete goddess, the way we would all be if it were not for our glutonous, slothful lifestyles. I'm sure the hardest part of Mr. Snowden's decision was leaving her.
" I'm sure the hardest part of Mr. Snowden's decision was leaving her. "
Meh. Girls like this are into THEMSELVES mostly ...
'Boyfriends' are accessories.
I think you are onto something. The car you drive owns you for the price of the bargain ride. Fools and their Egos are never parted.
You're either naive, or a lesbian.
Can't you see the beneficial industrial uses for this??? They could pour a molten material over her chest and use it as a cast model for an airport runway. Thus ensuring a smooth landing EVERY time.
I`d like to pour somthin over her chest...
creepy to be healthy?
Suits me just fine...
Girl's got skillz.
Unfortunately, also has that mind-programmed look to her.
She can be an intern on Wall Street this summer ...surely some old fucker will be calling her to be hs "girl friday"
Well lemme tell ya where that worry about her maybe being a dude subliminally comes from. In one of them photos she either has a mighty big camel toe or a pecker.
hmmmmmm....
Now I wonder after stating this when "they'll" pick up on it as part of the slander, demean and denigration routine.
Gotta love "their" talking points today. Lotta about getting his ass or not, is he or isn't he, etc.... shit for shinola about what the topic at had is.... just crickets.
Really, it ain't so bad to wear glasses, Knukles...
Maybe that's why Mrs K tells me i can't find my ass with both hands in broad daylight.
How long till Playboy offers her a million for a spread?
how much for an intimate dance?
Way to go ZERO HEDGE! Joining in with the mainstream media for character assassination. Keep up the good work... you're almost to CNN status.
How do you say "Giggity!" in Chinese?
Had to laugh - the UK's Daily Mail headline was "Snowden's pole dancer girlfriend 'just barely hanging on'".
More rosin, maybe?
Oh yeah, air all the way up!
She was obviously a government asset keeping tabs on Snowden.
I bet the CIA has a manual on blowjobs. And, I bet it isn't quite authoritative.
You know, the further we get into this whole drama, the more it looks like a CIA spook opera.
I think someone may have pissed off the wrong people and will know be dethroned!
DaddyO
You meant Deepthroated, right?
+1 Daddy-O. The Federal Government is NOT a monolith. The fact that the press is on board for this and Tea Party Tax Titillation means that the press is aligning with the next regime.
As this whole episode of scandal # XX has unfolded, the actors just seem too polished, too well rehearsed...or am I just being too tin foil hatish?
As much as I love Enemy of State, I'm just trying to square all this NSA drama with a well written script.
DaddyO
Yea, now she got transferred to one of the State Departments' whore houses...
Mata Hari 2.0
A typical "venus flytrap" (the term was used by the KGB for female spies that used sex as a weapon)
There's a great description of such characters in John Perkins' book "confessions of an economic hitman"
My first thought about your post was: BS.
But what are the facts?
HIS life is destroyed - not hers! Hers not at all. But "her" letter almost turns things upside down. She's the poor one.
But what I find interesting: how she seems to be worried about his wellbeing...
Probably his 2nd best decision therefore: not to inform her...
Now there's a skinny chick who's gonna make some righteous change.
kinda hot... period...
Think she's a screamer?
I think the 'hurt' is going to be the other way round ...
I think you misunderstood my question.
I think she'd be better at 'scissoring' than most.
A Lesbian Guide to a Gay Girl's Mindhttp://lezbehonestladies.blogspot.com/2012/07/scissoring-enough-said.html
I can understand why he choosed to be hero instead of just fucking this stupid chick.D
shes got dollar signs in her vision.............books....movies......fashion line......reality show...............
LOL..........Oprah......
That's exactly what I'm talking about. This kind of publicity does nothing but discredit Edward Snowden's message about the NSA and their illegal, criminal and unconstitutional activities.
Oprah: "Lindsay, when did you first become aware that Edward was a rogue agent and passing secrets to America's enemies?"
It's unfortunate to see some comments get knocked off of here...
On this thread?
Yes, it was a legitimate comment that had several upvotes that made the same exact point you did, except it took a few harsh digs at the author.
Yeah WTF?? I saw that lengthy comment at the bottom earlier... Criticizing ZH for "shooting messengers" more or less.
My response, short, no profanity and in agreement with him, was also deleted. This is a first that I can recall here. WTF indeed.
ditto
hopefully a tech glitch.
perhaps the 'carnivore' system has released version 2.0 ...
I was in the process of informing the author of said post why he may have jumped to false conclusions. Now he will not have the opportunity to see a more constructive point of view.
YES.
Tyler, say it ain't so
I think one of my comments just got renditioned to an undisclosed location.
Oh man...
NSA
Agreed. The (sometimes) reasoned responses get thrown out as well......
"First they came for the Travs, and I did not speak out--"
Let's not get paranoid. The comment engine is rather slow and lurpy. ZH adverts t-shirts, google adsense, and hookers. I can believe that bad programming ate comments.
In any case, for every 99 cheesepope comments there is approx. 1 shunted off to the grounding plug.
I don't know about that ParkAve. It was a legit comment. The insults were unnecessary, but apparently a lot of people agreed with it. I was considering responding but was waiting for the author to drop the hammer using dialogue.
I'll take your word then. I didn't see it.
I run a blog, not unlike this one in structural format - single column of front page articles, with a drill-in to the articles that have a list or nested list comment format. I know stuff gets muddled with even four or five commenters, much less hundreds.
That said, part of the reason I stay here is because it is so low-tech, low-budget, lo-fi, makes me feel like part of the action. Like I'm listening to a band at a small underground club that's awesome but no one knows them yet. I also know that stuff gets out of hand and lawyers sic balls. No one is infallible, for infallibility you must talk to the sky. Good luck getting answers.
What was said? THe true test is whether or not it can be repeated...
It was basically saying that ZH was not respecting this woman's privacy. There was more to it with plenty of insults, which, if I were the author, I would be pissed at too. It's their site, and I never forget that. I also know that one day, a while back I called bs on here about something and was unpleasant about it, and that comment, along with my login ability, disappeared. So I don't think this is anything new. It's just when it gets thrown in the mix with everything else lately...it's tough to see.
What is your blog site? Kudos to you for not pimping it under every post. But I'd be interested to see it.
I can say that if a commenter on my blog had a previous slight I always plugged their IP address into a filter that would alert me. Also, I could always geographically discover where (with scary precision) they were logging in from on the actual earth, if they changed IPs. To the address, I might add. So ZH likely knows much more about you than you surmise. That's life in the big data city. And if they had started trouble in the past, a criticism that might at face value seem inane was simply a pretext to more trouble-starting. It is safer to ban a person than a comment.
I will not pimp my site, I haven't had time to contribute in about four months although the same 5-6 diehards are there every night. With two kids I just don't have time to watch baseball nightly especially with the Yanks in a transition and with bronx jeter brass on the tacks downslope .com like he is now. I'd never stoop to pimping links on these threads. Never ever ever. Not in a million.
I hear ya. you ain't pimpin if I'm askin. But I understand. thanks for the heads up regarding your "precision" capabilities. good to know.
...no prob Fonz. Seriously, the tools cost nothing. My site runs on $15 per month. I can track every hit from an actual human at a terminal. The bots are little trickier, but I always know they are bots. I never hesitated to drop the hammer on a habitual a$$hole.
A site as this shouldn't ever need to come to that (erasing a comment without a trace, Stalinist style) - whatever the reason; if nothing else, out of respect for the other commenters and, you know,... because of its nature and what brought it about.
How should've they handled it? Simple and easy: just confront the poster publicly by replying to their comment - shouldn't cost that much and would even be pedagogic and in line with what the site claims(?) to be about... but that's just me, being the usual asshole...
Seems ZH has abandoned the "fight club" theme in practice, while retaining the names and avatars. But it's their site irrespective of their apparent new non-fight-club "sensitivity".
Nobody's perfect. Everybody has some little double-standard somewhere in their mentality doing far less damage than huge double-standards like NSA's.
Hell if I ran a blog and somebody started attacking what I post I'd kick their butt off too. I just wouldn't give the impession of being above it.
Yep, definitely seen better days... no need for that silly respect my autoritah kind of attitude (aggravated by censorship), though - this/any site is nothing without the viewers; so if they raise an issue and you have a problem with it, the only responsible/mature/honest way to deal with it is to just confront them and let the public decide. Isn't that what this site's supposed to be all about, after all? Who knows, they could actually be right - or just honestly mistaken - but you'll never know it now, do you (was that the problem?).
" just confront them and let the public decide. Isn't that what this site's supposed to be all about, after all?"
No, I don't believe a privately operated blog like this has any obligation to let the public decide. It's not a democracy. Listen to their sugestions yes, provide content that keeps 'em coming back yes, but they don't rule.
And yes the blog operator risks losing people (and pageviews) if they insist on posting objectionable content. It's the freedom to fail we'd like to see on Wall Street.
I have no opinion about this article. Some might think ZH is trivializing Snowden's plight, I don't care one way or the other. If it's done for pageviews, so what, post your objection and move along.
"they could actually be right - or just honestly mistaken"
What's this right/wrong stuff? You don't decide that. It's not your blog.
When you base your blog precisely on the exposure and disclosure of suppression and manipulation of information (much of it private and of private interest only, btw...), you kind of have a moral obligation to walk your own talk and be able to stand some hard criticism, specially when you yourself do it in such a provocative way as ZH does - just saying...
"Democracy" has nothing to do with it - it's a question of being consistent with your own (purported) ideals/attitude, and not fearing some fight based on arguments, rather than avoiding it by resorting to your "privately operated" autoritah. Also, there's ways to remove posts that don't make it look like you're trying to pretend it never happened.
Yeah, well, there's the root of so many problems: not my problem, plus, it's profitable, so fuck it... and yeah, wasn't that just what I did - post my objection? But then you came along with your move along attitude...
It's my opinion - you don't decide that either.
Remain calm. Controllers will "do a better job."
In the meantime... Distraction Titties have been sent to your inbox.
(checking inbox)
That's the same complacent attitude that got German jews/Jewish germans who stayed "behind" in the early 30s, in trouble: "it can't be that bad"...
She's probably a raving nutjob. Old Edward couldn't think of a good way to break up with her without getting his junk cut off, so he had to come up with this whole PRISM thing and flee the country.
Amazing what 122K will get you - nice
I noticed that Snowden's mom might be some Federal Court IT person in Maryland.
FYI - The whole secret FISA court stuff operates ad hoc out of the federal district courts in Maryland/DC.
Is there a link between the Snowden family, FISA courts and NSA snoopings?
Is dad some Obamacare RAND Corp cypher?
Saw a thing about family the other day. All in public service. Dad is ex Coast Guard, mom and sister in gov jobs of some sort.
I sent the following email this morning to my national desk:
Nine Companies Tied to PRISM, Obama Will Be Smacked With Class-Action Lawsuit Wednesday - US News and World Report
In this article, you will find the name Roger Vinson as the secret FISA court judge who signed the Verizon order that started the recent scandal. I don’t know if there is another Roger Vinson on the federal bench, but if not, then that means the Roger Vinson in Pensacola is the judge who signed the order.
This raises the question of exactly how does this secret court operate – and who are the other judges, and where are they located?
Do they fly up to DC to meet as a group, or do they hold hearings across the country via phone or video hook-up? If so, what guarantee is there that the NSA isn’t listening to their deliberations? Does the government know before the rulings are issued what the court has decided? Does this give the government an inside track to amend its arguments to fit with what the majority of the court is thinking?
Additionally, it is my understanding that the FISA court is on the same level as any other federal district court. It is also my understanding that appeals from a FISA decision go to a federal district court. If my understanding is correct, that raises the question of how does one district court directly overrule another district court – isn’t that the job of the Circuit Court of Appeals? Also, which district court has jurisdiction – the district court in DC, or a district court where the FISA judge involved in the litigation sits?
But I could be wrong – there are still many secret rulings about the court itself that are cloaked with the “national security” blanket that I doubt anyone knows for sure the workings of the secret court.
And against the advice of my attorney, since he says what I’m going to ask constitutes “fighting words” with a judge, and so you may be forced to remain silent on this issue – is the FISA court a type of Star Chamber? The Star Chamber was also a secret court – and several provisions in the Constitution are specifically written to make sure there would never be a Star Chamber in America – the provision for open trials, trial by jury, sworn search warrants, and the Fifth Amendment are just a few.
Is the FISA court the founders’ dreaded nightmare?
As you can see, there are quite a number of questions to be raised about the court itself.
Below is the story that names Vinson – he is s defendant in the lawsuit – that in itself may be a story because I’m not familiar with any FISA judge ever before named publicly, let alone sued:
http://www.usnews.com/news/newsgram/articles/2013/06/11/nine-companies-tied-to-prism-obama-will-be-smacked-with-class-action-lawsuit-wednesday
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Maybe he was chosen and strongly encouraged to approve the phone records request as pay back for ruling Obamacare invalid.
No, that saulzy brine was tough enough to swim thru the first time thank you.
Is this really necessary?
We already know they are going to rip his life to shreds. Does ZH have to throw gas on the fire?
I am totally inclined to agree with you on this one BOP. The only thing is, to Kito's point...anyone who describes themselves as a "pole dancing world travelling superhero" probably is looking for exposure. You know what they say about publicity....
Well what do they say about it?
If you get more publicity with your clothes off than on, you should take your clothes off.
She's a twit for real or maufactured...
World travelling superhero pole dancer
FFS....
(shaking head, scratching nuts)
I'm not sure this does the trick????
If this is ripping his life to screds, they better get their fucking act together, this kids looks more legit by the minute to the MSM and hollywood liberal types with this shit!
NSA better roll out some under age shit or some pics of him partying with Putin or Assad, or Edward will be President in 2016, if they keep this shit up!
He's not old enough to be prez according to the Constitution, and we all know they would never violate that.
> We already know they are going to rip his life to shreds. Does ZH have to throw gas on the fire?
Yeah, cmon zh. Please rise above this shit -- it's not relvant to anything whatsoever and stokes only the worst comments.
Why are you surprised that she didn't take down her flickr photos? Most women enjoy a camera more than a dildo.
How unPC of you, Jack.
I have noticed though, given an opportunity to post a photo, a Dude will do one to three, usually including his truck, boat, and dog.
A chick will post one to three..., hundred.
Shit yeah, I posted 3.
My rubber duckie, the dog and my inflatable pool in the back yard
ready to start crying laughing again
Sounds like the solution to a knukles-style game of "Clue".
If I could have that much fun with a rubber ducky, I would drink more,
if that were possible.
That object in your bath tub is NOT your rubber ducky. For shame!
Men watch women. Women watch themselves being watched.
Someone from the remaining "free" media should interview her ASAP and ask the question, "Have you been cautioned by any official from any government about discussing any possible conversations or other exchanges you may have had with them?"
Because we KNOW questioning has already taken place and we KNOW that revealing details of that questioning will exact government punishment...
"remaining free media"
has a nice ring.
(thumbs up...)
Quaint
A narcissistic self absorbed egomaniac with a healthy dose of grandeur dillusions for a girlfriend is considered "in good taste" nowadays?
No wonder so many men leave this country never to return.
Now who the fuck red arrowed that?
Come on, stand up like a man's man and be counted, let us know your reasons...
Looks like a true philosopher to me. Maybe the spelling police are out again. Coises!
Right zippy. It's gotta be either blue pill men, incels or a combination of the two
Since when is the life of private citizens a matter of public scrutiny? Didn't got that memo, with all the outcry against the abuse of citizens' rights...
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh, well, since they post their life on the internet(keep following me)for public scrutiny.
Also known as attention whoring-a western female specialty
According to US courts, your emails, phone calls, etc. are public and scrutinable too...
