Stunning Images From China: Ten Thousand People Waiting In Line To Buy Gold

Tyler Durden's picture

Sometimes one must see to believe, in this case believe just how massive the raw demand for the shiny, barbarous relic is in China during times of relative monetary stability (in this case the Dragon Boat Festival). Now assume runaway inflation as we saw in 2011 China, which may be unleashed by something as catalytic as the PBOC once again deciding to inject liquidity in its suffocating banking system and to revive growth in the stalling economy.

June 11, ten thousand people line up in front of a gold shop to buy gold. The buyers lined up during the three day Dragon Boat Festival.

You know as well as I do that both Jamestown and Russia's failure was do to the socialistic nature of the system. For an agrarian society to work it requires land ownership and the protection of private property. It also requires a lot of hard work, and yes some people will fail, that is the nature of capitalism.

They still accept my fiat for gas & food.  And ho's & blow as far as I know.  And toys & boys and coffins and pills.  And PCs and iPhones and yachts and ring tones.  Yep - still accepting it everywhere - on street corners and in bars, in amusement parks from pockets and coin jars.  It's funny, it's money, but it works as long as I do.  Gold is nice, but high in price - my $1400 does better as a 9mm or a clip of 12ga for my street sweeper.  No fret, it ain't done yet.  Easy to carry, all denominations are abominations, but this is obamination city, bro.

Our friend on RT Max Keiser has been calling attention to this for a long time now. He likes to point out that the collapse in paper gold contracts has been met by a rising demand for physical gold and the big premium over market prices that physical is and would attract.

India has seen it's government ask people not to buy gold. The response has been a rush to buy! China is in a physical gold frenzy. These people are better informed than Americans, who rely on US main stream media. Gold is the alternative to central bank fiat, which as we all know is being printed by white hot printing presses. The West is in a frenzy of printing. The USA, The UK and the entire EU. They can not fund their war monger governments, their police state governments and their welfare governments. Nations where now a vast proportion of citizens are employeed by government. The UK is the worst, the USA, if you include all local governments is not far behind and the EU is a well know paradise for those who sit at desks and look at papers on the government payroll.

Everyone who laughed at Max Keiser and called him a clown! Who is the clown now fools! Would you rather be holding physical gold, or fiat ass wipe? Be honest, which would you like to have in hand as the printing continues at break neck speed!

Add to this, the NATO drive for a mass war in the Middle East. They are hell bent on invasion and mass murder in Syria and Iran. Lebanon too. Since Russia handed NATO it's ass in Ossetia a few years back, the NATO forces are unlikely to attack Russia again. Especially since Russia has just deployed the new S-400 mobile Anti Aircraft Systems in areas bordering Georgia and Turkey. NATO muich vaunted Air Power would likely not be quite so all conquering in this case. But the bottom line is no NATO nation has the money for their global wars. Thus the Fiat must be printed. Thus another good reason for gold, as war spreads, would you like a hand full of fiat, of a hand full of gold. Easy answer, no?

What do you think the jewelry is made of?,brass?.And it's not like here where 10k/14k is the run of the mill.

Only places to get 22k jewelry in the US is at Indian/Foreign jewelry stores, anything less than 18k is shite to them.

Perhaps but the markup on gold jewelry (compared to its actual gold content) is usually several hundred percent.  So even if it's 20% off, it's still a bad deal.

Better to buy gold bars or gold coins, unless you need something wearable.

Fri, 06/14/2013 - 12:54 | 3658557 RagnarDanneskjold

They are lining up to buy 20% discounted gold. Gold is about $1400 an ounce, but except for investment gold, most places will sell designed bars, coins and jewelry for at least $1700 an ounce. So imagine gold retails for $1700 an ounce, $300 above spot, (except plain investment bars which can be had near spot), and now you can buy it near spot.

The technical term is an autocratic regime where everyone has their holidays at the same time AND most of the workers in the lines judging by their attire and style of shop are working class (and often migrants) many of whom do not keep bank accounts. Many even so rely on their employers to stockpile their earnings during the year and then distribute it to them when they go on holidays. So like everywhere with a large population you have massive bottle necks, you know, your biggest strength is your biggest weakness.

I have seen more people than this at Guangzhou train station during the busy period.

I bet you aren't planning a post to tell everyone to go long porcelain given there was 50,000 people lining up for a shit at the same festival due to industrial oil being used by a food vendor.

If these pictures excite you, start buying assets that produce food and companies that have water purification technologies, because 1.5B chinese will line up for that and pay you with their gold you covet so much.

This is sensationalist bull shit. Troll all you like, it doesn't make you right. How are your I'm all in, buy every dip strategies paying off for you. Even Sprott sold out on you sheeple.

Gold is simply one of the many asset classes over which an intelligent investor holds some. What a Chinese working class migrant worker does to invest their money has absolutely no relation to what people do outside of that socio economic demographic within a communist regime,

One of these days you will tire of being raped by Max Kieser, till then, find something to bite down on.

Fuck bullion and fuck you.

Hey dumbass, we have more controlled markets than they do. Reagan instituted central economic planning with the Plunge Protection Team in 1987, and the algos have been centralizing activity ever since. Your blathering about how 'This time it's different because it's over there' has no basis in reality. People need financial stability REGARDLESS of whatever misleading marketing title you choose to place on their oppressive regime...

Woman’s life savings destroyed by termites…

Chinese woman almost lost her life savings recently when termites invaded a wooden drawer in which she kept a plastic bag containing 400,000 yuan: the equivalent of $65,000 U.S. dollars.

It was only after the woman decided to redecorate her house in Guandong Province that she noticed the termites had dined on her nest egg.  According to the Guangzhou Daily, the money was given to the woman by her children.

A local bank generously scanned the remaining cash and was able to identity 340,000 yuan which means the termite’s meal ultimately cost the woman roughly $9,786.

Termites eat through woman’s life savings

A major bank heist in India has been pinned on some real pests – termites.

The bugs ate their way through notes worth 10 million rupees  – about $222,000 – in a bank in the northern Indian town of Arthur.

Investigators have been stumped as to how the tiny bank robbers sneaked into a steel chest to commit the crime, which was discovered on April 19.

I agree with the gold shifting to the East part. I'm not sure about the paper money being worth less part. It seems with falling wages that paper money is harder to obtain except for those with access to a printing press. The spot paper price of gold is as good as most market prices.

I down-arrowed your previous post, I up-arrowed this one. I don't see the price dropping any harder because they already pulled out all the stops & people piled in & keep buying. Slower now I'm sure because they were waiting, pounced & got a bunch but they're still buying. I am.

The wage argument you make, however, is solidly based in reality & should not be ignored. Those with some wisdom, experience or at least following the examples of others who are have realized that silver & gold are not ammo, water, food or a safe locale and all those are opportunity costs. Unless you're quite rich you must choose one over the other in any given week. Preservation of wealth matters only if you can live to the day - hence the ammo, water, food.

plus banks (such as ICBC) sell gold bars as small as 10 grams for close to the spot price.

Gold is pretty cheap right now especially compared to their uber-overpriced housing market. Also, most people I know over there do not trust the stock market after the last crash, especially since many held those S&P rated, AAA+ subprime Lehmans Mini Bonds that went to zero. Luckily fo rthem, the Gubment there sensed extremem dissatisfaction and bailed those folks out to the tune of 80-90% I think. Many WB know more about that since he lives there.

In any case, their desire for godl to preserve their very hard-earned wealth makes solid sense.

Sorry to repeat myself for an earlier post...but Nothing beats Physical Possession http://goo.gl/XINXT

For those that keep knocking owning any precious metals.

They should call their car insurance agent and tell them to cancel their policies because they are perfect drivers and they don't not worry about others hitting their car because they trust everyone and know they won't hit them.

And they should call their home issurance agent and tell them to cancel there policy because Natural Disasters don't happen near there house.  Plus they have perfect plumbing and no fire hazzards.

And after that they should call their Health insurance agent and tell them to drop there policy because they are perfect and they don't get sick, hurt and they will never die.

Thomas Sowell gives the best advice for these individuals..."A philosopher once said that the most important knowledge is knowledge of one's own ignorance."

OT: ............................................

It looks like the folks at Mozilla are joining the campaign to get the spymaster Obama to STOP WATCHING US.

Mozilla's message and URL link to add your name:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This Tuesday, Mozilla joined with a coalition of organizations from across the political and technical spectrum to send a message to the US government: Stop watching us.

https://sendto.mozilla.org/Stop-Watching-Us-1

We believe that technology's most important use is for good. But if what we've heard about PRISM is true, then what has been happening is the opposite of that. And the more I hear about the massive spying program that has allegedly been collecting information on the way millions of people use the Web, the more I worry. I worry specifically about government agencies forcing private companies to hand over people's data in secret -- even if there is no suspsicion that those people have done anything wrong.

The information that government agencies are reportedly collecting includes everything we do on the Web -- our communication with friends and family, the way we conduct private business and manage our money. If these revelations are true, they confirm my worst fears about the potential for abuse of our basic rights. But for me, that's not what worries me most. The worst part is seeing so many people just shrug their shoulders and say, "Well, this was inevitable. Privacy is dead."

It's not inevitable. We can can change things. Privacy is an essential part of Internet life that can be protected if we fight for it, and we're fighting now. The first step: tell Congress to stop unwarranted spying on Internet users and to explain exactly what's going on.

Please, I urge you to join me and so many others in telling the US government: stop watching us.

https://sendto.mozilla.org/Stop-Watching-Us-1

And if you -- like me -- don't live in the US, you can still sign. This affects all of us.

I believe in a Web where we don't have to fear that everything we do is tracked, monitored and logged -- all behind closed doors. I believe that the Web thrives on openness and transparency. For 20 years, we've built the Web on these principles. We need to protect them.

Just over a year ago, we asked for the public's help to stop the US Congress from considering legislation -- the Stop Online Piracy and PROTECT IP Acts -- that posed serious threats to the future of the Web.  I was blown away by the response. It was the biggest online protest in history -- hundreds of thousands of you got involved and together we shut down a fundamental attack on the Web as we know it. That's what we can do when we work together -- when we fight together.

Today we are taking a stand for everyone who uses technology, for any reason. Please stand with us. Don't wait. Do it now:

https://sendto.mozilla.org/Stop-Watching-Us-1

Mark

P.S. -- We also need your support to help keep up this fight. Please donate $5 or more today to fund this and other efforts to protect the Web and users' privacy and security.

Let's see, we've been given info concerning massive criminality by the government, yet the most important thing we can do is to beg the same criminals for justice?

If you want to go out on the streets, or better still, start disappearing people in high places (which is my preferred solution), I'm sure you'll find plenty of people to join you! Meanwhile, protests - written and otherwise - are the only alternative to express disapproval at Obama's criminality. No?

Fri, 06/14/2013 - 17:14 | 3659410 NotApplicable
NotApplicable's picture

Only alternative? Hardly.

Myself, I will point out their criminal nature to anyone who will listen, then point out that political methods of protest only further empower other criminals in a war against them.

The solution is not to fight the beast, but to walk away from it. Once enough of us do that, it will collapse and die from its own weight. As long as you continue to engage it though, it will both consume you as well as out live you, which ensures your children will get no relief either.

Remember, there's no such thing as a necessary evil. There is only evil.

Right. The beast creates its own competition.

Walking away is the only answer. If enough people do this, the beast will starve to death.

I like to think that I am on the extreme cutting edge of global social thought patterns. i mean, the cusp of super tinfoil hatterness and real spy/sci stuff. But really though, what's next? I mean, the true technology behind the scenes is probably generations ahead of anything we can even imagine right now. but those who control that sort of tech do so because they innately understand that exposing that type of tech to masses of people ruins the experiment. sort of like when you cook an anmal alive. it's dead now. eat it. except maybe they dont want to teat us just yet.

point im making is... do we really get ww3 here? or is this another super head fake that sucks us all in and then whipsaw whiplashes us at breakneck speed into the next keynesian dystopian sadistic fantasy? maybe ven temp utopia? remember, they change the rules as they go. true, they cannot change the laws of nature. right...? hmm...

if our world is one of perception based on the collective consciousness of billions, if most of those billions have effectively been brainwashed or neutralized/neurolized or just plain born and kept stupid or born regular and stupified through slow poisoning... then our reality is equally as polluted and handicapped. the phrase "perception is reality" comes to mind.

your guns, ammo and food can't protect you if it's really ww3 and it's time for all of us to reunite in the next dimension aka the universal consciousness field aka game over. on the other hand, im pretty quick and i can pull a mean headfake during a game of tag back in my elementary school days or a feint with the left now while i'm lining you up for the right hook today. imagine what i could do if i was all powerful on a global scale with access to tech and intel that makes the nsa leak look like fisher price?

i mean, look at the people they put in front of u. u think these are the guys who designed this whole fuckfest? who engineered these insane manipulations of mass psychology and uniform psychosis?

many of ZH are confident that they have left the ranks of the sheep. really?

fuckity fuck fuck...

You are not your body or your belongings so don't get too attached.

Follow the Golden Rule, and become the change you want to see in society, and don't sweat the small stuff (whether WW3 is about to break out, or whether the elite are dumber or smarter than we think).  I agree with you there is tech we don't know about, but I don't think it makes the elite all-powerful/gods.
