Who Said It: "This Administration Acts Like Violating Civil Liberties Is The Way To Enhance Our Security"
Who said it?
This Administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we demand. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom.
That means no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient.
That is not who we are. It's not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA court works. The separation of powers works.
Our constitution works. We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers and that justice is not arbitrary.
This administration acts like violating civil liberties is the way to enhance our security. It is not.
There are no shortcuts to protecting America.

Confused? It is the same guy who said this back in 2006:
“Mr. President, I rise today to talk about America’s debt problem. The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government can’t pay its own bills. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally.
Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’
Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.
Americans deserve better.
I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

"Top Ten Issues I Have with the Manufactured Hero Edward Snowden Story
Posted on June 10, 2013 by willyloman
by Scott Creighton
The wheels are starting to come off (H/T boomerang) … just a bit.
While the two biggest frauds from the right and the left, Glenn Beck and Michal Moore, parrot the status quo line telling their supporters to think of Edward Snowden as a “hero” (you will think as we tell you), more and more real people are starting to ask questions about our new manufactured hero’s story.

So much for words. Twisted, spun and conveniently forgotten.
For those who once believed in the hope and change this guy promised, the dissapointment must be acute. If he had been truly honest, he should have stayed where he belonged, as a community oranizer and not the Commander in Chief.
That is such a great speech by the greatest two faced coward in government.
I did a piece on this the other day using ZH's "When Conspiracy Thory Becomes Conspiracy Fact" or who hacked Sharyl Attkissons computer. Who indeed? http://thecivillibertarian.blogspot.com/2013/06/when-conspiracy-theory-b...
HE'S A FUCKING LIAR LIKE THE REST OF THEM! Are we really that surprised anymore?
Call me when they are all being escorted out of the WH in handcuffs...
The list of crimes is long, how the hell are they still running around trying to start World War Z, sorry III, when farmers can go to jail for selling raw cow milk, or soccer moms getting busted for downloading MP3's?

He said he wanted to transform America and he sure as hell is keeping that promise.
What happened to the video link?? Anybody have it???

Funny thing with poor G.Bush Jr. I was watching some of his debates when he was Governer of Texas. No offence to all the Bush haters(me included), but that guy could F***ING DEBATE!!!! The corporatist trojan horse for American liberalism. He's the left's Ronald Reagan. The shining emboddiment and pinnacle of the movement for the past century. Over the next decade, you'll venerate him and recant the vacant speeches.
Reagan did the same thing to libertarianism and the old right. A total betrayal. But he said all the right things! Maybe Peter Orzag will right a book in 30 years describing how full of shit everyone in the administration was a la David Stockman now.
Obama is one complete idiot. Ain't no two ways about it.
Reagan was a left wing liberal in his early political life.

Plutarch told it like it was:
Plato's daughter was married to Alexander the Great. Plato got pissed at Alex for some reason and had a direct role in Alexander's assassination. Plato didn't put up with any of Alexander's bullshit anymore. That's the way it goes moving west.
'We will not submit to your bullshit'
words indelibly etched into limestone block.
words spray painted on a federal courthouse soon after 9/11.
no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. ... No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient...
You do realize of course the president is able to parse these statements to justify a "legal" right to do anything he wants. The english language is different than many others in that even and odd numbers of negatives create 180 degree differences in meaning. We do not mean emphatic negatives when we pile them into a sentence.
Not only that, but "it depends on what your meaning of 'is' is".
This is what happens with taqiyya and when a person loses whatever moral compass one has been born with by not cultivating it.

OBAMA said exactly what should happen after Bush/Cheney started surveillance:
"FISA works" and FISA court warrant was added...and Obama uses that today.
Congressional oversight hearings were added...and Obama uses that today.

Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich 1933 = Patriot Act 2001
Art 2
Laws enacted by the government of the Reich may deviate from the constitution as long as they do not affect the institutions of the Reichstag and the Reichsrat. The rights of the President remain undisturbed.
Speech 23 March 1933:
"By its decision to carry out the political and moral cleansing of our public life, the Government is creating and securing the conditions for a really deep and inner religious life. The advantages for the individual which may be derived from compromises with atheistic organizations do not compare in any way with the consequences which are visible in the destruction of our common religious and ethical values.
The Government will treat all other denominations with objective and impartial justice. It cannot, however, tolerate allowing membership of a certain denomination or of a certain race being used as a release from all common legal obligations, or as a blank cheque for unpunishable behavior, or for the toleration of crimes."
so you have proven that the drone president is a liar - tell me something i don't know. this is from the same man who voted to make it illegal to save surviving abortion victims....the man is a murderer; telling a lie is nothing to him.

More "irony" if we learn that it was the rebels and not Bashar al-Assad who used the sarin gas.
Exactly. The jihadis that we are supporting with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, captured a Syrian military base, then used the gas against government troops, as reported by the UN and others. This is Yugoslavia all over again.
Or, the CIA who paid contractors to "stage" the attack. Remember this?

Turkish police catch Al Qaeda-linked Syrian Al Nusra terrorists
DEBKAfile June 15, 2013, 5:04 PM (GMT+02:00)In raids in Istanbul and southern cities near the Syrian border, Turkey police Friday arrested 12 members of al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, Al Nusra Front. Found in their possession were four and a half pounds of sarin nerve gas, hand guns, grenades, bullets and documents for what the Turkish daily Zaman reported was to be a bomb attack on the Turkish town of Adana..
http://debka.com/newsupdatepopup/4705/
....ummmm...interesting to note that Turkish activism is in part the result of Turk citizens discontent over its Syria policies... secular Turks don't want to destroy the lives of secular Syrians... this "story" and revelation may be the result of a shift in Erdogans policies vis-a-vis Syrian rebels... in order to appease his population and settle the internal turmoil... and that would be a HUGE impact to Syrian foreign policy...

We can, if you will.
Has anyone ever seen or read an interview with any of his former students? Was he a good professor? Did he wear argyle socks? Did he still use an overhead projector?
Those were virtual students and no, he didn't wear socks. He used a teleprompter -- he was very good with the teleprompter -- instead of an overhead projector.
People need to understand Orwellian newspeak, the war of the words.
What you understood Obama to mean by what he said, was indeed what Obama meant for you to understand by what he said, but was not what he meant.
In 2007 Obama said "No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient."
Now the law will be ignored whenever convenient.
Obama also said it is "a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we demand." Obviously, he was referring to the royal "we", meaning by that what he himself demanded and cherished.
Thus, "no more illegal wire-tapping of American citizens" means all the wiretapping will be made "legal".
"No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime" means it is OK to spy on citizens who are suspected of something other than a crime. And anyhow, everyone has to be suspected of being a potential criminal, if not a potential "terrorist", or at least a possible direct or indirect supporter of a "terrorist" organization.
"No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war". Meaning the "tracking" of those who protest against Obama's wars (none of which are to be considered "misguided") may be a different matter.
In a more general sense, those who control language control communication.
"Torture" becomes "harsh interrogation". "War" now means something different than what needs to be declared. Personhood, classified information, enemy non-combatant, Patriot Act, Defense Department, Homeland Security, collateral damage, humanitarian intervention, etc.
The more we accept the new official definitions and language, the more difficult it is to communicate outside their parameters, and the more isolated and divided we become.
It's all bullshit anyway because "terrorism" doesn't even EXIST...
One man's "criminal" is another's "terrorist"...it's like the artificial distinction of "hate crimes".
And one man's "terrorist" is another man's "freedom fighter".

"SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL THREE: Al-Nusrah Front is one of many groups that are fighting the Syrian regime now. It is not the only one. And in fact, it is a minority. Its influence has grown over recent months, but it still represents a minority element within the broader armed opposition to the Assad regime. So I don’t want to leave any kind of impressions that we are in any way acting against the broader Free Syrian Army, which is a much bigger organization.
And I’d be very clear we talk – I myself talk to the Free Syrian Army, and we have talked to them about things like the code of conduct and how to treat prisoners, et cetera. We have gotten assurances, and we have seen in many instances good behavior and even sanctioning against those elements of the Free Syrian Army that have acted improperly or against that code of conduct. Nusrah, by contrast, has actually been involved in summary executions of prisoners, for example. Whether the American steps today will immediately curtail Nusrah’s capabilities, I don’t think they will, but I think other nations that are involved in helping the armed opposition will now take more seriously our concerns about the Nusrah Front and its expanding influence, and it is important for countries to understand what al-Nusrah is and what it represents.
And it is important for the Syrians in the political opposition and in the armed opposition to understand what Nusrah is and what it represents. The time of a political transition is approaching. It’s approaching quickly as events on the ground move. And it is important to understand that Nusrah is an extremist group that cannot possibly be a part of the political transition to a tolerant and free Syria. "
.
The Contradictory Role of the United Nations Security Council
In late May 2013, the UN Security Council added Al Nusrah to the UNSC “Al-Qaida Sanctions List.” Yet at the same time, the Security Council decision casually dismissed the fact, amply documented, that three permanent members of the Council, namely Britain, France and the US continue to provide military aid to the Jabbat Al Nusrah Front, in defiance of international law and the UN Charter.

There have been quite a few questions as to why Utah was the location selected for the NSA. Back in the the early to mid 90's, I worked as a news researcher for a 'press clipping service' that had it's main office in Provo, Utah. We monitored every single newspaper, magazine, all radio and televison broadcasts and developed the software to monitor the internet. Outside of the Library of Congress, we were the second largest recipient of us mail in the country. Our clients included almost every agency in government.

President Pinocchio.
I think when ever a new President comes into office, the Intellegece/Millitary liasons to the White House must put on a quite the scare and tell about all "bad things" lurking that must be kept secret to the ignorant masses, lest they start to panic, and so he is immediately primed with fear to protect the populace "for their own good". The before and after shots of a President once he leaves office are telling, they look healthy going in, and a foot in the grave when going out.
Any 'installed' president from the last few decades knew exactly who was giving his marching orders, and what course he must take - i.e. complete obedience to his financial overlords. The little 'reminders' of what would happen to him and his family if he failed to 'stay the course' do seem to cause a few grey hairs though.
Pretty clear to me that the white boyz have got him wrapped around their little finger.
What a great speech.
And that's all it was and will be.
politicians ... they talk one thing and do the exact opposite because their job is to get elected and once they get elected they do things to enrich themselves. The democracy is a sham, a con-game played out con-artists. Obama is one of the best.
He's a bigger hypocrite than Romney, but unlike Romney gets away with it completely. The brainwashed population deserves the coming economic and social disaster.
deserve is a strong rain,

Look, the dude just goes out there and reads whatever is written down for him. I'm serious when I write that I doubt Obama has had an original thought. Yes, he made up some shit in his auto-biography, but everyone everywhere makes shit up about their auto-biography. The guy is the consummate tag-along.
BRING BACK BUSH! Aaahhh.. the good old days.
It's President Oaf-n-Goof!
Do I win a prize for getting it right?
Most people want to pin it all on the Black guy. I guess people can't figure it out that the presidents in the U.S. are just puppets. It's other people's agendas and plans being carried out by Obama, just like Bush did...and Clinton.
The recent series of explosions and attacks could be the end result of Obama not going along with the blackmails. There's been explosions at a chemical plant, fertilizer plant, marathon, and now another fire is burning thru Colorado. Obama has also been targeted for his criminal conduct (which is most likely from the typical blackmails).
So, when I see people patting Glenn Greenwald's back, I just want to spit. He is one of the planets worse kind of traitors. He knows damn well the "lawsuits" are providing the opportunity for the courts to give all the spying, etc, a stamped approval. Greenwald gets the story out (which is really being RE-published, because this is old hat news)...Then the typical threats and filings of lawsuits (this gives the perception someone is really on the case...unfortunately, they are Gatekeepers). And finally, we are now seeing the rebuttals in the news, showing WHY it is "good" to have the NSA spying on everyone.
This is all bull shit. This should have been sorted out long ago. It's too late now. All that is left is perception management, and they seem to fool the American people consistently with that.
Yes, I remember when Obama said this. It was obvious at the time it was quite false and was mere posturing, as at the time his voting record showed him voting in favor of every spy program he spoke out against, and showed him voting for telecom immunity for the illegal wiretapping programs they were running back then (and continue to run now.) The republican opponent thought ignoring the constitution was just fine too. I voted libertarian for this very reason.
