Iran Sends 4,000 Troops To Aid Syria's Assad

While the world awaits Russia's formal response to last week's US escalation in Syria (as Putin demonstratively arrived an hour late for talks on Syria with UK PM David Cameron) another country: Iran - fresh from an election in which moderate candidate Hassan Rohani became the new president - is taking matters into its own hands. The Independent Reports that "a military decision has been taken in Iran – even before last week’s presidential election – to send a first contingent of 4,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guards to Syria to support President Bashar al-Assad’s forces against the largely Sunni rebellion that has cost almost 100,000 lives in just over two years.  Iran is now fully committed to preserving Assad’s regime, according to pro-Iranian sources which have been deeply involved in the Islamic Republic’s security, even to the extent of proposing to open up a new ‘Syrian’ front on the Golan Heights against Israel."

If it was the west's desire all along to drag Iran into the Syrian escalation, and thus shoot two birds with one cluster bomb, Iran may have just happily obliged.

So while we now await for Israel in turn to ratchet up the war rhetoric one more time, perhaps while punctuating its sentences with the occasional bomb over Syrian soil, here is the Independent with a comprehensive analysis on how America, courtesy of its now formalized support of the Syrian mercenaries rebels, suddenly finds itself in uncharted territory: "For the first time, all of America’s ‘friends’ in the region are Sunni Muslims and all of its enemies are Shiites. Breaking all President Barack Obama’s rules of disengagement, the US is now fully engaged on the side of armed groups which include the most extreme Sunni Islamist movements in the Middle East."

In years to come, historians will ask how America – after its defeat in Iraq and its humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan scheduled for  2014 – could have so blithely aligned itself with one side in a titanic Islamic struggle stretching back to the seventh century death of the Prophet Mohamed. The profound effects of this great schism, between Sunnis who believe that the father of Mohamed’s wife was the new caliph of the Muslim world and Shias who regard his son in law Ali as his rightful successor – a seventh century battle swamped in blood around the present-day Iraqi cities of Najaf and Kerbala – continue across the region to this day. A 17th century Archbishop of Canterbury, George Abbott, compared this Muslim conflict to that between “Papists and Protestants”.

 

America’s alliance now includes the wealthiest states of the Arab Gulf, the vast Sunni territories between Egypt and Morocco, as well as Turkey and the fragile British-created monarchy in Jordan. King Abdullah of Jordan – flooded, like so many neighbouring nations, by hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees – may also now find himself at the fulcrum of the Syrian battle.  Up to 3,000 American ‘advisers’ are now believed to be in Jordan, and the creation of a southern Syria ‘no-fly zone’ – opposed by Syrian-controlled anti-aircraft batteries – will turn a crisis into a ‘hot’ war.  So much for America’s ‘friends’.

 

Its enemies include the Lebanese Hizballah, the Alawite Shiite regime in Damascus and, of course, Iran. And Iraq, a largely Shiite nation which America ‘liberated’ from Saddam Hussein’s Sunni minority in the hope of balancing the Shiite power of Iran, has – against all US predictions – itself now largely fallen under Tehran’s influence and power.  Iraqi Shiites as well as Hizballah members, have both fought alongside Assad’s forces.

 

Washington’s excuse for its new Middle East adventure – that it must arm Assad’s enemies because the Damascus regime has used sarin gas against them – convinces no-one in the Middle East.  Final proof of the use of gas by either side in Syria remains almost as nebulous as President George W. Bush’s claim that Saddam’s Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction.

 

For the real reason why America has thrown its military power behind Syria’s Sunni rebels is because those same rebels are now losing their war against Assad.  The Damascus regime’s victory this month in the central Syrian town of  Qusayr, at the cost of Hizballah lives as well as those of government forces, has thrown the Syrian revolution into turmoil, threatening to humiliate American and EU demands for Assad to abandon power.  Arab dictators are supposed to be deposed – unless they are the friendly kings or emirs of the Gulf – not to be sustained.  Yet Russia has given its total support to Assad, three times vetoing UN Security Council resolutions that might have allowed the West to intervene directly in the civil war.

 

In the Middle East, there is cynical disbelief at the American contention that it can distribute arms – almost certainly including anti-aircraft missiles – only to secular Sunni rebel forces in Syria represented by the so-called Free Syria Army.  The more powerful al-Nusrah Front, allied to al-Qaeda, dominates the battlefield on the rebel side and has been blamed for atrocities including the execution of Syrian government prisoners of war and the murder of a 14-year old boy for blasphemy.  They will be able to take new American weapons from their Free Syria Army comrades with little effort.

 

From now on, therefore, every suicide bombing in Damascus - every war crime committed by the rebels - will be regarded in the region as Washington’s responsibility. The very Sunni-Wahabi Islamists who killed thousands of Americans on 11th September, 2011 – who are America’s greatest enemies as well as Russia’s – are going to be proxy allies of the Obama administration. This terrible irony can only be exacerbated by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s adament refusal to tolerate any form of Sunni extremism.

Sandmann, Yes, you have hit pretty close to the reality of this side show in Syria. It is part of the larger plan to eliminate the larger nation states of the Middle East and North Africa that will allow Israel as a US proxy to be the only viable military force in the entire Middle East. That is the goal in Syria, Libya and Iran.

As to the larger picture, you are right again! The long term goal of this is a proxy war against Russia. Russia is the big prize, and if you have payed attention, the USA and NATO have already been using the Arab Spring Playbook inside Russia. Here is how that goes. The USA and EU fund anti Russian nationalist forces via large richly funded NGO's who work to promote pro western and pro corporate Russians in their efforts to eliminate the Russian Nationalist movement and replace it with a New World Order government compliant to NATO and compliant to western corporate interests. The Russians working with these western NGO's have been promised power and great wealth once the west moves into control of Russia economically and then politically.

The second Western Proxy war is the support in arms, training and funding of anti Russian border nations like Georgia and the terrorist movements in the southern Russia secular republics. The USA for example funded and armed the Chechen terrorist movement. The USA goaded Georgia with arms, intelligence and trainers to invade South Ossetia. The Russian response was a surprise to NATO, as they thought that Russia would cave in as it has done in very instance up to then.

The bottom line is NATO covets the Russian territories and resources. The big win for the west would be US corporate control of Russia's resources. This is the end game of all the US and NATO actions.

Russia needs to beware of all Western funded NGO's. They need to combat with their military every US funded terrorist network in the world. Syria is the main base now for US funded Sunni Jihad and Al-Qaeda terrorists.

My advice to Putin is to go all in with the Syrian government. Weapons and even Russian special forces and Marines on the ground. Plus a heavy shipment of Russian manned anti air craft missiles. And a large Naval force in Tatrus. Note, some of the Russian warships that dock in tartus from time to time carry naval versions of the most modern variant of the S-300 system. Thus a Russian warship could, on it's own, enforce a high cost on NATO's opening air attacks.

China is still fence sitting, allowing America to spend itself into bankruptcy via it's limitless wars. As of now, China need do nothing but watch and wait. The US wars are all unfunded and the dollar as reserve currency is weakening. CHina fence sits because they need do nothing right now. Russia is under direct attack via US proxy terror groups. They need to begin to fight against the Syrian conquest by NATO with all their armed forces. They are next, after Iran and Syria.

America under both Bush and Obama has spun out of control. The pro Israel groups have highjacked Ameica. And we see the results. Obama is worse than Bush. His liberal supporters actually believe supporting Sunni terrorists in Syria is freedom fighting! Dupes!

I think you are wrong about China sitting on the fence much longer.

The various US miilitary deployments aimed at 'containment' will not be allowed.

I'm expecting an outright US/Russia military confrontation before years end  with a

coordinated financial attack incl. China before or during that event.Sooner than

China wanted,but they will not pass up the oppotunity.It wiill be interesting to see

how the Chinese components in US weapons systems perform.All those trapdoors.

IMO we're seeing rival criminal gangs going at it on a mass scale. They have the advantage of employing propaganda arms to convince the sheeple to be the instruments of the gang rivalry.

Dont think those opposing western bankster globalists (perhaps Russia & China) are 'good guys', theyre not. We don't even know if they might not be part of the overall team and plans to depopulate the planet. (I'm NOT saying this is their goal, we don't know what the hell are their goals at the highest levels running things. Thats all I'm saying.)

If Obama begins in Syria a military conflict with Russia, then U.S. military in Afghanistan will be in the meat grinder.
Putin will be instantly override all deliveries of American military supplies to Afghanistan through Russian territory.

Jack Burton, you're comments would make sense except for the fact that Obama really, really doesn't like Israel. And I don't see how what has happened in Libya and Egypt in the last few years is good for Israel in any way.

It is certainly true that Israel had an outsized influence on the US between 1967 and 2008, but I'm not sure that's been the case since Obama took office.

P.S. -- they also use radicals out of the Chechnya & other ex Soviet regions against the Russians. It'll be interesting to see where the Chinese line up in alll this. They had been Western controlled for a long time & they were reindustrialized by the U.S. when they didnt have the money to feed their own population. But they may just remember the screwing they got in the past from various Western based interests, and flip them the bird (or the Chinese equivalent - I'll have to look that up).

I rather doubt that we'll have have an American Spring, but I'd be happy if we did.  If we don't, and the SHTF (X months from now), only the prepared can save themselves, with appropriate counter-measures of economic and physical survival.

The end of Christianity in Iraq was a direct result of US support for the Sunni Jihadists in Iraq. In order to end the war against US occupation, the US allied itself with Iraq Sunni, i.e. the former rulers of Iraq. We see now the USA has gone all in on a world wide alliance with Sunni Jihad against all secular Arab governments not part of the Sunni Oil Gulf States. Syria is the logical outcome of the US Jihad against secular government, against Christian minorities, and against the Jews of the Arab world.

If Americans were real people, and not puppets of certain power groups, they would demand the impeachment of the criminal Obama for his supprt of Jihad against all non-sunni in the Middle East. The US allied Al-Qaeda have killed and driven off many Christians, whom Assad had protected for years.

Our government has spun out of control. The domestic police state and the international wars in aid of Israel and now of Sunni Jihad has marked out Obama as a member of international war criminals. He is out of fucking control. Arrest him, for god's sake, and humanity's sake!

I disagree. Most people want to live their lives and take care of their families. They want a few comforts and to see their children and grandchildren grow up.

A very small group of people are socio-paths and/or psycho-paths. They only care about getting what They Want. They will do anyting to get it and manipulate and hurt others to do so. They think those who don't think & act the way they do are 'chumps' and deserve to be taken advantage of.

If someone's got bigger guns than you they DO have rights you don't have - rights don't exist without GUNS to defend them. A right of a human can only exist if that human can kill other humans who threaten desired rights. Rights don't come from a piece of paper or an idea. They come from superior killing power.

About 5,000 Americans from all services are participating in the Jordanian-led exercise, which will focus on “issues such as integrated air and missile defense and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to address current and future conflicts’ security issues,” said Maj. Gen. Awni al Adwan of the Jordanian army and chairman of the joint task force. Jordanian and U.S. officials played down any link between the exercise and the crisis in Syria, which has raised concerns that the civil war could spill over the border. More than 250,000 Syrians have fled to Jordan, according to the U.N. refugee agency.

“This exercise provides us with the opportunity to develop relationships and capabilities,” said U.S. Maj. Gen. Robert Catalanotti, the U.S. Central Command director of exercises and training.

A major participant in the exercise, which runs through June 20, is Expeditionary Strike Group 5, bringing the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group that includes the USS Kearsarge; USS San Antonio; and USS Carter Hall. The land component includes a mixture of special operations forces and Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which played a role in Operation Odyssey Dawn to enforce the no-fly zone over Libya in March 2011. 1 Gaddafi said he will go door-to-door to purge terrorists

2 special ops were found to be flying into the desert, presumably to secure oil corps personnel

3 within 7 days they passed UN resolution 1973

4 week after, they sent tornado GR4's from Italy into Libya to 'secure no fly-zone'

5 that was that and it's swept under the carpet

6 summary: within a few weeks, the West felt Gaddafi would burn the oil-fields so they expedited the 'freedom'

Now look at Syria...

1 two years and they do fuck all

2 Syria doesn't have vast oil/gas fields

3 Syria / Turkey are the hub of the four seas

4 West needs a new regime to placate the oil corps with trusted transit fees once pipelines are built from Qatar

By virtue of their non involvement in direct military service the vast majority of Americans have given a "pass" to this and previous administrations in the use of US Military Forces to cary out the aleged National Will.

Since most Americans have "no skin in the game" there is little concern, if any, on the cost of American Lives expanded in the game of geopolitics. After all, very few fathers, brothers, sisters, sons or mothers are serving in the military compared to the overall US population.

The time is NOW for this administration to cleary state the reasons we are committing troops to active combat zones in Afganistan, Iraq, Africa, Israel/Seria and to the overall protection of Gulf states by the constant presense of the US Navy. The time is now to articulate our vital interests as well as the price we as a country are willing to pay in terrms of American lives, to protect those interests. If a sitting President cannot make a compelling case to Congres and or the American people, it is time to STOP.

If our vital interests are to protect the flow of oil for the whole world - say it and demand that all countires provide military assets to protect the flow of oil.

If our vial interest is to Guarantee the survival of the State of Israel - say it and get UN or NATO countries involved in the protection of Israel.

If our vital interest is to stop Radical Islam, then a worldwide, multi generational plan is needed, by which the religious/governance issues concerning Islam can be addressed openly with them

The continuous sacrife of American Military Lives on globalist agenda boondogles needs to stop.

As far as the American people are concerned;

The entirety of Constitutional self-governance (of the people, by the people, and for the people) rests your consent. Our consent. We give that consent every two years when we elect candidates to Constitutional office. Implicit in your vote for a candidate is your consent to be governed by any candidate elected.

This implicit transfer of our consent during elections is what legitimates our government under the Constitution. Nothing else.

Consent which is given implicitly can only be revoked explicitly in the same manner, by voting to do so during an election. 

What does this suggest about the people's power? Informed voting breathes life into our Constitution.

Iran sending troops is a signal that the new regime is more moderate and has become part of the simultaneous outbreak of Sunni violence in the ME. if there was hegemony in the region it was religious orthodoxy, Shia religion. break that up and you have a lot of secular Sunni nations all fighting one another. the centrally planned nations, China Russia Iran support the Assad regime. the US is also a centrally planned nation, but our foreign policy is regime change, not real political change, but after Iraq, that policy is a shambles (replacing one dictator with another while allowing central banks to run the economy, which is essentially the US/EURO model of rule. (forget Jeffersonian Democracy, this is Central Bank cronyism and exploitation) this sort of neoeconomic-colonialism allows CBs to impose IMF debt and austerity on the periphery nations, while the host countries reap tribute, cheap labor and resources. it's not really new or enlightening) there isn't much difference between US/EURO and non western goals. Non western goals are to prefer stability, and a strong central leader to keep all the ethnic racial groups from each other, but wars are often fought over less. that America has a policy of sowing dissent revolution and violence is pretty deplorable, but thats what it is

I think it's safe to say that a larger Pan-Muslim war is in the "best" interests of everyone.  Not unlike WW1, all stakeholders can consolidate their camps with more war.  Oil traders win, the Brotherhood in Egypt gets more western dollars to keep the rabble in check, the Iranian theocracy government get engaged and goes all-in pro-bomb, all the Arab kingdoms have no choice but to fall into line lest they be taken out of power, America/NATO get to shoot their guns and order more bullets, Israel does not get ignored anymore and gets it's Iranian bomb problem permanently addressed.  The big brains at Mossad and Al are working overtime to setup this war.  It's taken 9/11 and Obama's election through his Chicago handlers to maneuver the US into another quagmire called Persia.

If the US could not get a handle on Iraq (30 million pop, sunni-shia 75% Arab living on a pancake), then someone tell us how the US is going to combat 80 million 80/10 shia-sunni energized by a national project like the Persian A-bomb?
