10 Disturbing Tales From The Side Streets And Dark Alleys Of America

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog,

Every night Americans prove that they are willing to do absolutely horrible things to their fellow human beings.  Most of the time, we never even hear about the sick and twisted things that happen on the side streets and dark alleys of America.  Once in a while a particularly twisted story will get picked up by the news, but usually most Americans are pretty much able to isolate themselves from the depravity that is happening all around them.  Unfortunately, the social decay that is eating away at our society like cancer is spreading.  It is getting harder and harder for average Americans to keep the darkness at bay.  When it suddenly reaches out and touches your family, it can be absolutely shocking.

America is not the kind, loving and gentle place that is portrayed in our movies and on our television shows.  The sad truth is that America is becoming colder and meaner with each passing day.  Yes, there are definitely some Americans that are kind and compassionate, but they are in the minority.  As our economic decline becomes even more severe, the hearts of even more Americans are going to grow cold.  And people with cold hearts can do some absolutely terrible things.  The following are 10 disturbing tales from the side streets and dark alleys of America...

#1 Beaten, Robbed And Left Naked In A Cow Pasture In Florida

A Florida man says that a first dated ended with him being beaten, forced to strip at gun point, robbed and then left in a cow pasture.

A Flagler County Sheriff’s Office case report obtained by NBC News indicated that 34-year-old Shaun Paul Williams was found naked and bloodied on State Road 100 in Bunnell. Williams told deputies that he had met a woman named “Tree” about two weeks ago in Dayton and agreed to go out on June 14.

When the woman picked him up on Friday, he discovered that two other men we also inside the vehicle. The woman explained that one of the men was her brother. She said that she needed to drop the men off at the brother’s home.

But instead of going to a home, the brother instructed the woman to stop at an “empty cow pasture.” Williams said that he exited the vehicle to urinate and was struck in the head with a “hard metal object.”

“Give me all your money and your clothes,” one of the men told him.

#2 Wendy's Customer Totally Loses It When They Put Cheese On His Hamburger

In recent months there have been a lot of videos posted on YouTube of crazed people yelling wildly at employees of various fast food chains.  The most recent example of this phenomenon to go viral is a video of a middle-aged man totally losing it after he discovered that Wendy's employees had put cheese on his hamburger.  You can watch the video here, but please be aware that it contains quite a bit of profanity and it is not appropriate for children to watch.  This is yet another example of how seemingly average people in America are becoming consumed with anger and frustration.

#3 Women Throwing Bleach Into The Eyes Of A Man On A City Bus In Boston

MBTA Police are searching for three young women who they say threw bleach in the eyes of a bus passenger after robbing him of his money.

The victim was returning home from work early Sunday morning, riding the #28 bus on Blue Hill Avenue through Roxbury, when it seems the trio sized him up.

Officials say one female slapped the man about the head, while one went to work to search him for money.

“One of the women puts her knee on top of his legs so he can’t get up and takes the money from his pockets,” MBTA Superintendent-in Chief Joseph O’Connor told WBZ-TV.

#4 The Wild Dogs Of St. Louis

Dangerous dogs are becoming more of a problem in parts of north St. Louis County.

It’s so bad, some people say they’re afraid to go out for a morning jog.

Resident Carolyn Immer says she was attacked and now has a hole in her leg.

“I felt like I was out in the middle of nowhere and there was nobody around to help,” Immer says. “I was screaming for a long time – it seemed like a long time lets put it that way.”

#5 Homeless In Dallas

So as of today I am officially homeless.

I won't bore you all with long sob stories.

About a year ago lost my job of twelve years, couldn't find new work, made some bad financial choices, and today I sit in the public library on my old laptop typing away as all my posessions lay in three small suitcases very close to where I am sitting.

I think this might possibly be the worst place to be homless, given the horrible heat.

So I have seventy-five cents to my name, am not sure where I'll be putting my head down to sleep tonight, and was wondering if anyone else out there has been in a similar prediciment.

#6 Detroit - Dumping Ground For The Dead

From the street, the two decomposing bodies were nearly invisible, concealed in an overgrown lot alongside worn-out car tires and a mouldy sofa. The teenagers had been shot, stripped to their underwear and left on a deserted block.

They were just the latest victims of foul play whose remains went undiscovered for days after being hidden deep inside Detroit's vast urban wilderness — a crumbling wasteland rarely visited by outsiders and infrequently patrolled by police.

Abandoned and neglected parts of the city are quickly becoming dumping grounds for the dead — at least a dozen bodies in the space of 12 months. And authorities acknowledge there is little they can do.

#7 Impaled On A Wrought Iron Fence In Chicago

A man was murdered Sunday night by someone who struck him in the head, causing him to become impaled on a wrought iron fence in the South Side Burnside neighborhood.

The 48-year-old victim was involved in a dispute with unknown individuals near his home in the 9100 block of South Greenwood Avenue about 8 p.m. Sunday when a male struck him in the head, police said.

The victim’s head was then impaled by a wrought iron fence near the eye, police said. He then fell to the ground and struck his head again.

#8 Robbery Victims Locked In The Trunks Of Their Own Vehicles In North Miami

CBS4 has learned of a horrible crime that has happened four times in the past two months in the city of North Miami. Gunmen have been forcing robbery victims in to the trunks of their cars while trying to get cash.

North Miami Police Major Neal Cuevas says he is worried about “copycat criminals” who may one day take a life.

One victim is speaking out exclusively to CBS4’s Peter D’Oench after being driven around in the trunk of his Mercedes Benz for two hours on Wednesday night. He was abducted at 8 p.m. while leaving his job and was finally rescued by police at 10 p.m. after discovering he had a cell phone in his trunk and after calling 911.

#9 Female Teacher Has Sex With Three Students In Oregon

A Sherwood High School teacher has been arrested and faces sexual abuse charges, stemming from accusations of sexual contact with at least three students.

A grand jury indicted Denise Keesee, 38, Monday on six counts of second-degree sexual abuse, according to the Washington County Sheriff's office. Keesee turned herself in this evening, said Sgt. David Thompson, a sheriff's office spokesman.

#10 A Police Officer That Shot Five Kittens While Children Were Watching

The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals wants Humane Officer Barry Accorti fired for allegedly shooting five kittens in a home's back yard on Monday.

-----

Accorti responded to a home Monday afternoon where a feral mother cat and her five kittens were living in a woodpile.

He allegedly told the homeowner that shelters were full and that the cats would be going to kitty heaven. He then pulled out his gun and shot the five, 8- to 10-week-old kittens.

Accorti allegedly told the homeowner that he isn't supposed to do this, but it was justifiable. The woman ran into the house to shield her children, who were screaming and crying.

So what do you think about these stories?

Do you have any tales like this to share?

The good still outnumber the bad.  I have friends and neighbors I respect.  My children have kind friends.  There are fantastic role models in the world (just turn off the tv before looking for them!).

Despite the evil, there is still good.

It's upon our shoulders to demonstrate the good, to be men of character and honor, to encourage and uplift those around us.

Follow up: my father died 11 months ago.  I am fortunate to have known he was dying so we could say our goodbyes.  I was complaining about the world and the problems in one of my final conversations with Dad.  He listened and finally asked me, "Son, what are you going to do about it?"

The baton has been passed.  I honestly believe that the love I feel for my children is more powerful than fear.  That kindness can overcome evil.  Hope triumps, despite the bruises and knockdowns in life.

The banksters do not control me.  The owned politicians do not command me.

My health, my hands, the strength of my back is greater than the tools at their disposal.

Their only weapon, literally, is coerced debt enslavement.

Anyone who refutes and shuns debt in principle and in practice will eventually be deemed a de facto enemy of the state.

Debt is that critical a pillar forming the shoddy foundation our economic system is built upon.

That and the breakup of the family. It makes the children more malleable, impresisonable and susceptible to the horsheshit being taught. The value systems are all fucked up casuing all the energy and effort to be directed towards mostly the wrong things. Eventually the "have-nots" will be turned against the "haves" as they will be presented as the cause of all the problems.

@HobbyFarmer- Thanks for sharing. You are right, we seemingly are attracted to things we think can make a difference on a large scale. Things like popular talk shows, politics, churches etc...where we think there might be an influence over a large crowd of people. What we lose in trying to do this are the people close to us who we can have a positive impact on. A small wave turns into larger waves and will echo louder than trying to reach the masses all at one time.

I'm sure nobody is still reading the comments here, kill switch.  But just in case: you know what to do.  It's discussed on this forum a lot.

Get out of debt.  Don't play their game and buy on credit.  Garden.  Barter for things you need.  Get to know your neighbors.  If you have time, mentor a child that needs positive adult interaction.  With my three boys, adding another one into my Saturdays isn't hard: they largely entertain each other.  I can interact with another child (who needs a father-figure) while spending time with my own.  Who knows how that positive attention might help the kids in life?

Raise your voice when those around you cower in fear and want to give up.  Don't give into the cynical side of yourself.  There is hope.  Even with the tsunami of problems headed this way (NSA, debt overload, evil politicians, peak oil) there is hope.

If you are smart enough to be on this website reading and participating in the conversations, you are bright enough to find solutions: even if they are hyper-local (and apply to your family only).

Hope you come back and read this later.

And I'm aware we have a low information society that has been captured by the corporate tit of government and entertainment media I’ve been fighting these issues since Gary Allen Non Dare call it Conspiracy and Howard Rough of the rough times news letter days 70's 80's. The progression down the sink is nothing short of breathtaking,,,,since 9/11>< all the dots connect.. And here we sit. Mike Rupert talked a lot about getting out of debt in his book Crossing the Rubicon fiat reserve currency needs perpetual growth, one problem however the growth hit a wall called energy depletion hence all these resource wars. Just think of the revelations in just the las three weeks with all the heads of these agecies lying though their green teeth...Sick Fucks....I'm getting winded, you get my point.

More gun nut BS.  Florida is covered up with guns.  When I lived in the city I could hear gun fire quite often in the night.  Now that I've moved to the country the gun fire is a daily thing, all day, every day, gun fire.  Guess what?  In spite of swimming in guns, there is no "safety and sanity" here, either. BTW, I'm not anti-gun, just anit-propaganda.  I've got a permit and I carry pretty much all the time.

OK, enough of this. Courseness begets courseness. I am no rose colored eye wear proponent but sometimes during the course of the day you need to look for oppotunities to change the course for another human. I can be a son of a bitch to be around sometimes but I give what I can of my time and what is left of my money after it gets filtered by .GOV to anyone that NEEDS it and has the balls to ask for it with a humble heart. Look for ways to bless someone during the course of each day and don't be too timid to ask them to pay it forward when they can. I never forget the dirt scratching poor times in my life when someone reached out to lend a hand, it will humble the hardest soul. Now on the other hand if someone is willing to take the risk and steal my property there is the gun barrel.

Nailed it. +1.

BTW, You "need" to do this in order to nourish your mental and spiritual health in the same way that you need to eat for your physical comfort. I've been experimenting with lifestyle choices for a long time, and my practical experimentation backs up the theory. Hope my input helps at least one person to escape the sadness of selfishness. Further investigation into some of the other outmoded moral precepts particularly related to "good" and "evil" can provide other useful "tools for life". Not least to enable you to stop "money" from being linked to "happiness". I am financially broke, yet in terms of my freedom to choose and enjoy pleasant experiences, and material posessions I never had it so good as I do right now.

Some of you have vastly better life skills than I and can obviously amass enough cash to really make a difference. Go for it, just be perpared to get nothing out of it, not even gratitude from the recipient, then you'll not be disappointed with the short term losses, but in the long term when you see that ungrateful bastard's life changing in a small way for the better due to something YOU did, that gives an awesome sense of power and achievement.

Once you have changed enough lives for the better you really do get a feeling of "illuminati like power", but without having to make the personal lifestyle compromises that they obviously do.

Food for thought? or idiotic off topic post? you decide...

I'm just here to help.

Kito, I'm with you.  Newt Gingrich rightly points out that adolescence was a creation of the socialists in the early 1800s to keep the children out of the mines and fields.  I have very desperately NEEDED sex since, and especially when, I was 13.  Prior to the 1820s, I would have been a young adult and of mariage age around then.  Now in my early 50s, my wife and I have a DS child, who we love and cherish very much, but I could have been spared 5 years of sleepless, agonizing nights growing up in a Catholic family and be a grand father had the left not screwed things up with their social engineering.

What's wrong is that those in a position of authority or control over others should not be using that authority for personal favors, sexual or otherwise.

Prison guards over inmates, teachers over students, police over arrestees, bosses over subordinates, doctors over patients etc.

(Corruption, bribery, nepotism, favoritism implicitly exist in such situations even if both participants are "happy" with the arrangement. That's why it is considered unprofessional at least, and illegal in many cases, especially with under age children.)

Yeah, there's this government in control of a country that was founded on individual liberty and freedom from governmental tyranny, that has installed non-stop complete monitoring of every citizen.  Further it's been determined that this government will kill it's own people even though citizens of this country have a right to face their accusers and a chance to defend themselves.  As if that weren't enough this government goes out and kills innocent men women and children, a lot of children, with remote controlled unmanned killing machines in sovereign countries, at it's whim.  Further, all of the people that are supposed to run the government and all the people that are supposed to keep their eyes on the government to ensure there isn't abuses of power, they are all workng together against those individual liberties.   I'll bet you think this was some kind of science fiction book written by Orwell or something....

This is the problem when you militarize a bunch of chimps. As Mike Tyson used to say and I paraphrase, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face". You see just how undisciplined and trigger happy these I am the law power trips types are once they realize they just might not be in control (control freaks in general act like this, just look at our government). This is why they don't want the people surveilling them but want to surveil everyone else.

In that scenario, I would not want to be a cop that had to face the ire of the criminals and the anger of the citizenry.

I guess they don't think about that, nor do they seem to recall that a lot of people are ex-military and more competent at combat than they are.

Last week, I was going through the drive thru. The woman in front of me reached up for her order with an arm covered, from the wrist up, with tattoos. Well, then she starts to leave, stops, then starts backing up toward me. She gets the rest of her order w/o hitting me, then heads on to the exit. There's two lanes there, but she straddles both with no signal. There's still enough room for me to go right, so I pull up to go right. She screams out her window, "You F*cking Idiot!". To which I screamed right back at the tattooed freak, "Same to you, you Freak". She was likely driving under the influence of something other than stupidity. You have to be a 'druggie' to get that many tats.

I can relate to the CheeseBurger issue. Today everything comes with Cheese. Even when I repeatily tell the waiter or clerk "No Cheese", loudly and clear, the order arrives with, you guess it: Cheese! This gets old real fast.  What is it with Americas and Cheese? Most of the Cheese is crap loaded with oil preservatives, and emulisifiers. Not sure why anyone would want that crap on their food. These days I avoid fast food as if its the plague. In order to keep the prices low, they use the absolute bottom of the barrel crap, the stuff they probably couldn't use as animal feed. Then they add a ton of fruitose and deep fry to hide its foulness. Its a recipe to get violently sick.

Agreed. The plural of anecdote is not data. Even if number of published news stories is the standard, for a true study that showed increasing criminality or weirdness, would need to control for change in editor preferences, change in consumer preferences, change in newsroom budgets (let's repeat this salacious story rather than do original reporting), was it sweeps month (when these types of stories are common), etc. Just listing 10 stories and then claiming we're on a highway to heck is yellow dog journalism.

The article is somewhat empirically dishonest. Violent crime from common people has been in a steady decline or plunge since the 70s, on or about. Meanwhile, crime from those well connected has increased geometrically.

It's more likely now to be robbed or molested by a cop than the homeless looking man in the dark alley. Stop being afraid of your peers or your own shadow. One real threat is wearing the badge of authority. The other biggest threats are incredibly boring: car accidents, falls in the bath, or farm accidents.

Over the long term, governments have been the largest threat to life than virtually anything else. Do the math. Stop being afraid of everything that moves, and start looking at risk based in facts and data.

I work as a Sanitarian for the local government and had to respond to a complaint about sewage on the ground a few months ago.  The house was ancient had a couple creepy looking trailers in the back with God knows what was going on back there.  Looked like something from Texas Chainsaw.  The worst thing about it...about a half mile to the next house so nobody was going to hear any screams should things go south in a hurry.

Carved into the paint on the back door to the house read: "Enter here, leave in a bag. U'r choice."

Needless to say, given my department's no gun/means of self defense policy I left the property and never returned.

Whenever my colleagues or boss ask about the lot, I tell them to piss off and go check it out for themselves.  I refuse to be a statistic.

Much of the problem is due to the 4th generation welfare class spilling out of every ghetto. Nowhere is safe. The children of the ghetto have no respect for life, so they are even beneath animals. The cops that attempt to control them lose respect for life as well. Adding to the circle of hell.

I witness incredible things you wouldn't dream of seeing 20 years ago every single day.

Much of the population of the USA has reached the point of absolute uselessness, and with that no longer care about anything.

I see mothers carrying children by the neck, screaming at babies that probably haven't been fed properly well ever.

If you're ever in Cleveland Heights, take a trip to Severance Center. Once the first shopping mall and a crowning achievement of America. Now a sad strip mall with a Wall Mart that will make you curse humanity if you have the displeasure of walking through the door.

A rotting sense of entitlement cuts across all classes and ethnic lines. There's the rooted idea that one is owed a job, regardless if one has kept one's skills up, regardless of how one treats one's colleagues, regardless of productivity. There are too many workers like this --they've allowed themselves to become crippled. And now they're out of work and want someone to support them beyond unemp benefits.

These were individuals who were unwittingly benefiting from society's largesse (or inflated stock values), which is continuing to dry up.

On the positive side, being scared can be motivating --you take nothing for granted, go the extra mile, burn the midnight oil to prepare to launch as a freelancer....etc.

..and these aren't anywhere near the most horrible. On a general note, we find what our minds are focused intently on. Mr. Snyder sells items related to dread and fear. There's long been an industry surrounding this --there are always throughout the decades new books, newsletters, etc. on pending economic collapse.

That said, I do believe ZH, Jim Rogers, Peter Schiff are right: the nation is looking at a bleak future indeed, an economic crash of huge proportions, and civil unrest and crime will likely increase (which with evaporating budgets will lead to greater automation of law enforcement --read surveillance) and distrust and so on. The key is to figure out how to position oneself. That that nation will largely be faring very poorly doesn't mean we as individuals need to.

Now with Slim Whitman gone, who's gonna protect us from the Martians?

While I agree that many of these stories are only peripherally related to the economy, the fact remains that they do represent a sort of unique pathology that is distinctly American.

Trust me, I've been to civilized places in the world in Europe and East Asia and this shit just doesn't happen as regularly.

Oh, and by the way the trailer parks, barrios, and ghettos are all American.  They are as American as apple pie, they are as American as the nicest neighborhoods and middle class suburbs.

Are you kidding me!   The United States of today is a paradise compared to almost every other period in it's history!

READ "The Gangs of NY" forget the sissified Leonard movie of the same title.  Lincoln had to freaking bombard Manhattan with canon shells to put down 3 days of lynching, looting, murder and mayhem during the "Draft Riots"!!!

Oh and that "scorched earth" march by Genl Sherman across the entire south was a real picnic! (you've heard the song "The Night They Burned Old Dixie Down"). I'm sure the poor were treated like royality, as their means of feeding themseleves were vaporized.

How about Genl Washington's army - more died of rancid food and "camp fever" then British bullets.  Most had no shoes AT ALL, in the dead of the NE winter.  The British used to follow the trail of blood stained snow to track his armies movements.  If this was how the army lived, imagine the average American.

And read about the "Bonus Army March" when we cheated WWI veterns out of thier pay - they marched on Washington.  Old McArthur and Patton put them down by shooting them in the street, then running tanks over thier camp - with their wives and children still in the tents!  Nice way to repay your Heros who won the war!

Before the Progressive movement: Women had no rights (couldn't vote), there was absolutely no social safety nets, no welfare, no food stamps, no medical care, no housing assistance,  no student grants and loans, no worker rights, no unions, no bank insurance, no paved roads,  worst of all NO INTERNET.

I know a lot of people want to go back to these 'Good O'ld Days'.

This country was built on slave labor, seizure of property, political corruption, rape and murder.

You're totally ignorant of history!

'A women had her leg bit by a dog while jogging' & 'a women gets mad when they put cheese on her hamburger' - Give me a fucking break!!

The title should be - "Things Are A Little Rougher Then During the Top of the Last Two Bubbles".
