House Intelligence Committee's Mike Rogers: "Snowden's Actions Defy Logic"

Just to confirm that in a world in which China and Russia (and Caracas... and Cuba) are increasingly seen as the paragons of liberty, virtue, and civil rights and the US is slowly but surely sinking into the role of the turnkey totalitarian tyranny antagonist, we just go this from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers: "Edward Snowden's reported choice to fly to Cuba and Venezuela undermines his whistleblower claims... Everyone of those nations is hostile to the United States, the Michigan Republican said on NBC's "Meet the Press" news talk show. "When you think about what he says he wants and what his actions are, it defies logic," said Rogers.

Actually, Mike, when "you think about what he says", his actions make all the sense in the world, and certainly validate his "whistleblower claims."

Rogers added that the U.S. government must exhaust all legal options to get Snowden back to the United States, Rogers said. Of course it must: like any totalitarian emperor state exposed before the entire world with no clothes on, it only makes sense to focus on the messenger, and not on the underlying message.

And now back to a panicking administration which is forced to come up with escalating PR responses to a global scandal that is changing by the minute, on a completely ad hoc basis.

Next up: how to punish Hong Kong for not only flagrantly ignoring US orders, but humiliating the US before the entire world with its insubordination.

I lost track of how many times the US officially killed Bin Laden. 5,6? Trot out seal team 6 and hey! yay we did it! But try this on: If we killed the 'head' of Al Qaeda, and we then turned around and armed and sent military support to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, in Libya, in Yemen, and now Syria, and the CIA and Al Qaeda have so inflitrated each other that they're one and the same, does that make Obama the head of Al Qaeda? I feel a rain of red arrows in the offing.

Obama will be replaced by the next Bush/Obama look alike. And we make so much fun of countries with dynasties.

There are so many nicer places to live than under the interstate. I expect them to become very crowded soon.

Where you here at ZH during the last presidential election? It was hysterical to watch the R's and D's line up stating LOUDLY that their candidate was the lesser of two evils. Quite empassioned some of them were, too. When people were told that Romney and Obama were the same candidate directed by an Oligarchy whose name can only be whispered, the hissy fits were awesome. Obama serves up Romneycare and the left cheers. Eschewing anything socialistic in their politcal candidate, the right hates Obamacare completely ignoring whose work Obama was plagerizing. Good theatre, I truly enjoyed it.

ITS ALL THE SAME FUCKING PERSON, GOOD PEOPLE because they all answer to the same masters.

Will has been very instrumental in making visual the hypcrisy of our R/D paradigm. You're right though, a third face is needed.

You are overthinking this my man. Forget about the food stamp army. They don't have a care or a clue about this.

Here is the scene. Tomorrrow everything opens up calmly. Yields however keep drifiting higher and by 10am they hit 2.65%. Stocks go into a tailspin. Down 750 points by 11am. Circuit breakers go off. Scenes of traders running around screaming with their hair on fire. Market re opens, rallies slightly and then sells of and ends the day down 1,000 points.

Tuesday the market opens up down 500 points. Finally at some point it stabilizes. Yields back down below 2.25%. The dow still up a few percent for the year. But everyone stays transfixed on the markets.

Snowden ends up on the backpages, probably for a while.

(with that said the dow will probably be up 500 points this week)

I recently closed my account at a large (TBTF) bank and switched to a credit union. At the TBTF, the branch manager that was handling my paperwork ask me why I was closing my account. Geez, I'm sure the Russians and Chinese know what is going on, but Venzuelans? I suspected this whole front from the beginning. They had to make it look like this kid really hates the NSA and exposed something big, when in reality he exposed very little. This is just hyped b.s. in another day in psy-ops land.

Meanwhile, we hear basically nothing about the FBI Todashev murder, except that the FBI has "investigated" 70 FBI past shootings and found them to all be Kosher! The morale of the story: NEVER let an FBI agent into your home or be alone with one. Always have someone or an attorney with you.

It was more than just "conspiracy theory". The alternative media (some of them) had it right all along, but the mainstream media had written on this as well, but it just wasn't ran 24/7 like it is now. There may be more than one "agenda" involved. A young American patriot who blows the whistle on staggering, unlawful, mass surveillance by its govt of its own citizens - for no genuine valid reason - is driven to flee his own country and seek asylum in another country. Or suffer a very vindictive punishment. When that guy is an American and his country is America - a nation with a long tradition of freedom and liberty which made it the envy of the civilised world - it tells us that something has gone very seriously wrong with democracy and accountability. This is surely the road to totalitarianism which will destroy everything that America stands for (or used to).

I wonder if Obama realises that he is making the US Govt the laughing stock of the world?

Anyone notice while in Berlin, Obama calls for more reductions of Cold War armaments.  What a sacrifice world governments would be making, reducing weaponry from the last century that they allegedly have been sitting on for decades.   Again, old world PR stunt pulled out and somehow expected to be a big deal to the people the world over.   He must be bucking for another Noble Peace Prize.  Even trying to inovke the ghost of JFK like anyone in the crowd or the world still gives a shit or even believes in "Ich Bin ein Berliner".  That may still send chills down he and those of his age and ilk (I doubt) but the people, the masses of this era don't give a shit about fairy tale Camelot days of yore.  Piss on the founding fathers and twist and bastardize their vision of a free society then sooner or later the government will reap what is sow's.  Not a threat from me, NSA, just a prediction.

The biggest mistake you make while assessing your actions vs another is underestimating their intelligence.  Far too long those in the liberal elite media and "northeast intelligencia" has sold us on the notion that the masses are fat, stupid, lazy, uneducated, and do not care about things as long as they can get a six pack buffalo wings.   Indeed pull the layers back and that is but a small fraction of what makes up the citizenry and until they recognize that their bullshit messages will continued to be scoffed at with mocking tones.

C'mon now there's no need to degrade the debate with that sort of talk.  Doing so makes any legitmate criticism "illegitimate" and plays right into the hands of the Jimmy Carter's and the anti Tea Party groups along with the run of the mill liberal and most certainly the Huffpos' and NY Times' of the world.  

It is really time for all of us to stop using race as a weapon or a crutch.  I know the government makes it impossible to truly move away from race as an issue.  They want to teach everyone to ignore the color of one's skin, which is absolutely right, but by the same token every form you ever fill out forces you to choose a box detailing your race.  Furthermore decisions by colleges along with every government department, census takers, banking, and even public sponsored groups keep track of race and even encourage the segregaton of minorities and supports certain races to form their own professional clubs.   Society will never get to the point where the color of one's skin is of no consideration as long as it is at the forefront of everything our government does.

The real shame is that when you observe children, they never consider the color of another childs skin when playing and making friends it's only when adults and society as a whole starts pointing it out do they start noticing.

Hong Kong still belives in the rule of law and due process.  Here in the states the dictators in the Democratic party do whatever they want.  Here is a case in point.

 

One late Tuesday night (11:30 PM) in January 2013, the Governor of New York State called an emergency session of the state legislature.  All voting memebers had to show up and vote.  The "emergency" was called due to the actions of Andrew Lanza in ANOTHER STATE (Newton CT).  Even though Lanza's actions occurred a MONTH before in ANOTHER state, Gov. Cuomo called an "emergency" session in New York State!

 

During that session the governor and largely his left wing liberal Democrat co-conspirators met behind closed doors and drafted a 41 page Bill called the New York SAFE Act.  After emerging from the closed door session, the legislature was then forced to Vote for this Act based on its "emergency" measures.  Everyone had approximately 15 minutes to read this hastily drafted bill and then vote on it.  It Passed of course.

 

I watched this live on the internet.  I was quite disgusted seeing the Liberal Democratic machine push through the death of the 2nd Amendment in New York State (plus a few Liberal Republicans too).  The applause made me the sickest, to see my civil rights taken way with laughter and applause disguested me completely.

 

There is no Rule of LAW in New York State.  Everything is up for grabs as an "emergency" measure to protect the "children" etc.  This is the Democratic - Chicago style way of Democracy, if you don't belive this, then Fuck you too.

 

Since this time I have joined a Local Tea Party.  Wrote 400 Leters out of pocket.  Got my rifle club to write 2,500 letters and attended (2) 2nd Amendment Tea party Protest Rallies.  Not to mention all my Internet posts etc.

 

Here are the high level points of this bill.  (There is more but here are the beauties)

 

All Guns need to be registered (Long and Short Arms)

 

All Guns have a maximum of 7 Rounds per Magazine, Clip or Tubular magazine.  (If you have more than 7 rounds you have an Assault weapon in your hands baby!  Even that .22 Marlin or Henry lever gun that your grandfather gave you, is now the equivalent of an AR in NYS.  The law did NOT exempt law envorcement!  So all Cops in NYS are effectivly felons.  Handguns too, 9 Shot .22 your a felon, Colt 1911 with 7 Rounds your OK)

 

All Ammo Purchases require a background check.

 

No more direct shipment of Ammo.  (This effectivly is killing Youth Sport Shooting in New York State.  Lets say you try to have an afternoon shoot match on the weekends.  .22 at various targets 60, 70, 80, 100 yards away.  Your going to need about 500 rounds per kid.  If you have 10 or 20 kids, thats allot of ammo.  The Background checks alone will kill this target match.  The fact that you can't get direct shipments from the Manufaturer have killed this sport.)

What is so wrong about this Snowden afffair is that the USA has lost legitimacy in due process, habius corpus, and its federal courts.  Many know they won't be given a fair shake, and that is how dissidents are born.

We are now witnessing, for the the first time in US history, people turning in their passports because they would rather not deal with the IRS and the whole system to boot!!  This is unreal if you grew up in the USA just a few decades ago. 

Worse yet, it just adds fuel to the fire for everyone who dislikes the USA and Americans, and there are many, irregardless of your good will.  As someone who has been abroad for many years, I find it depressing and sad for all expat Americans.

The damage that could be brought to the surface of this swamp with unchecked surveillance on every move is beyond the citizens.  Politicians are human and as all of us do, they have skeltons in their closets as well.

As for meta data capture for internet access, this only gets you so far, and may be of limited use for smarter opponents who use misdirection.

I expect that data content capture will become a bad joke, because smarter opponents will figure out how to make captured data useless for analysis, because the analysis software won't know what protocol or encoding was used, so it will look innocuous or not look like useful information.  P2P software can already do something like this; so what do you think would happen if more emphasis was put on the security of data, it's source, and it's target?  You have a much bigger problem then; you may not have the access, data, resources, or technology to cover fully!
