Moody's Retaliates At Hong Kong For Snowden Insubordination

Tyler Durden's picture

Uncle Warren appears unhappy with the humiliating can of whoop-ass Hong Kong unleashed on his favorite crony banana republic. So he has retaliated in the only way he knows: Moody's.

  • HONG KONG BANKING SYSTEM OUTLOOK REVISED TO NEGATIVE BY MOODY'S
  • MOODY'S CITES CONCERNS ON PERSISTENT NEG REAL INTEREST RATES
  • MOODY'S CITES POTENTIAL HK 'PROPERTY BUBBLES' - this one is really good.

But the best reason is:

  • MOODY'S CITES HK BANKS' GROWING EXPOSURES TO MAINLAND CHINA

Yup. Moody's just figured out Hong Kong has exposure to... China. Of course, Hong Kong's downgrade of US foreign policy to laughably pathetic, outlook hilarious on Sunday, was a complete coincidence.

"Fascism /?fæ??z?m/ is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism[1][2] that came to prominence in early 20th century Europe."

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

Fascism = nationalism. What is happening here is internationalism; the use of the United States' state apparatus to set up a one world government. Far closer to communism than to fascism.

Once again, too many ZHers need to turn off Alex Jones and try cracking a book more than 50 years old.

One would be well advised to go with the words of Fascism's grandmaster Benito Mussolini, instead of Wikipedia's definition:

"Fascism is the mergence of high finance and state."  B. Mussolini

Yeah and what was the goal of the mergence? Here it goes, ready? NATIONALISM! The state apparatus was unified to operate to advance the interests of the Italian people. Mussolini was an EXTREME nationalist, and his ideology encompassed that.

Like I said, no matter how many times you post that quote out of context, it doesn't change the fact that fascism = nationalism.

Wrong.  Nationalism was the packaging to engage emotional support of the public. The "goal of the mergence" was to use the power of the state to enhance corporate power NOT to "advance the interests of the Italian people."

They:

"I am a citizen of the World."

The concept here is to get everyone thinking of the world as their nation.  You want to dwell in the obsolete concept of what constitutes a nation; the modern concept is not that of the present nation-states, but rather we are one nation of the world, with the present nation-states as subdivisions to come under the authority of the world-wide governing bodies.

Once you understand that the concept of what constitutes the "nation," you then understand why Mussolini's quote is still relevant; what we have is the merging of the world as a nation, with the international corporations of that nation (the world).

As yes, it is nationalism, with the world as the nation. Think Earth Day, Global Warming, unrestricted passage across (current) national borders, and so on.

That is the 21st Century definition for these people of the world "nation."

It's just one Big Blue Marble . . .

it's quite the trick, to get individual humans to identify themselves with a imagined boundary, named as a "state" - with fluid lines drawn and redrawn over time, whenever the financial class find it to their advantage.

it usually starts with a flag & a uni-form, and of course, the man-datory figurehead.

identity, such a co-opted notion, being part of a named group seems to have such appeal.

I would say the same to you about opening a book and reading some Marx. But I agree with you that our govt, while co-opted by corporations, supports a global banking oligarchy vs. a national one. The nationalism and racism that you are looking for is simmering, just under the covers, waiting for the next leg down. You'll see it soo enough, I think. Time will tell.

"...That was among the responses of a spokesperson for the ratings agency Standard & Poor's when I contacted him a few weeks ago in advance of a new Rolling Stone feature, "The Last Mystery of the Financial Crisis," which describes the role the ratings agencies played in causing the 2008 crash. The company was genuinely miffed that anyone would impugn its honesty. In one relatively brief e-mail, the spokesperson used variables of terms like "independent," "integrity" and "transparent," upwards of nine times.

Hold that thought.

"The Last Mystery of the Financial Crisis" makes great use of documents uncovered in years of painstaking research by attorneys at Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd, a San Diego-based firm that was at the forefront of major lawsuits against the industry. The material those lawyers found leaves virtually no doubt that the great ratings agencies like Moody's and S&P essentially put their analysis up for sale in the years leading up to the crash.

I picked some of the more damaging of these documents to ask about. Like for instance, an email from a company executive reading, "Lord help our fucking scam. . . . This has to be the stupidest place I have worked at." " m.t.

..."But we know now that it was no accident. What happened to the ratings agencies during the financial crisis, and what is likely still happening within their walls, is a phenomenon as old as business itself. Given a choice between money and integrity, they took the money. Which wouldn't be quite so bad if they weren't in the integrity business." m.t.

Snowden must have some hefty information that can harm the US irreparably and make laughing stock of the entire US gov. Makes everybody a little jittery.

Russia probably paid for that information, hence the flight to Moscow.

Good stuff that you can't possibly make up.

Now he's off to Ecuador to hide in plain sight. Probably will be standing next to Waldo.

If the CIA had just implanted an electronic digital device into his brain, they could have stopped him.

Snake oil shtik is about to end.

And all of you Muslims and Jews out there: eat bacon.

I was a complete vegetarian until one night I was dreaming I was eating a roast beef sandwich, after that, if I could dream it, I can do it, so I ate a roast beef sandwich.  It was just hunger for food, which is a remarkable medicine and so is hunger.

I was totally opposed to eating any meat products.  All it takes is a dream.

Barbecue chicken, barbecue ribs, all of it.  Beef is too much all of the time.  Bacon is the perfect pork product.  I don't like to eat roast pork.  Eat ham.

HOMER: Geez, Lisa you're really gonna be a vegetarian?  You're not going to eat meat from any animal?  You're not going to eat bacon or ham or sausage?

LISA: DAD! Those are all from the same animal!

HOMER (sarcastically): Yeah -- like some magical wonderful animal.

Or copies of his Standard Form (SF) 86 that he had to fill out as a U.S. Senator in order to gain access to classified / secret / top secret information?

USA hitting out at Hong Kong will do wonders for sales of US products in Hong Kong and China.  With the news that the US was hacking hundreds of millions of SMS messages in China, and China calling the USA "biggest villain", who will buy Apple products in China and Hong Kong?  Does the iPhone have backdoors to enable spying or a kill switch? The safe alternative is Samsung.  This developing Snowden drama is a disaster for US telecommunication and internet companies and negative for US companies in general.

"I wonder if the Obwama realises he's turning the office of POTUS into a laughing stock? Does he care?"

Everyhting O has done has been planned by his string pullers... The dependence on government aid, the attempt to disarm, the weakening of our constitutional rights, the increased gathering of private info, the increased surveillance, the injecting of fear, the resocialization of school children, the redefining of moral rights and wrongs... and so on and so on...

There are some good people in the U. S and a few good elected officials who are doing what they can to stem this overwhelming tide of debauchery and treason, but we are trying to keep the proverbial snowball from rolling down the hill and crushing us.

Some think it is time for us to just move aside and let the giant snowball of treachery come crashing down on the sheeple. I have a have a hard time doing this. I hate giving up. I hate giving in. I hate quitting. I love the people in my life. I want them to be informed, but sometimes I feel like Jeremiah in the Bible, the weeping prophet, trying to warn my friends and family of what IS happening now and what IS surely going to come upon us.

"Don't you have anything positive to say?"...

Sure I do. I am positive we are heading into some perilous times of which we are now only experiencing the tip of the ice berg.

I'm very sorry to say that our government is what is called a paper tiger and everyone knows it.

I also said that the real pressure would be commercial in nature, although it did not occur to me that they would stoop this low.

Of course, the OBOZO Clown Posse is cutting its nose to spite it's face.

The wreckless behavior of this country's leadership and the willingness of their corporate lackeys to assist is beyond astounding.

They remind me of a hopeless drunk, who knows he's killing himself, knows he's alienating everyone close to him, knows he's obnoxious, knows he smells bad ....  but just doesn't give a shit as long as he can stay drunk.

Read or re-read the book 1984 and keep in mind the all of the economic "facts" that we are given each week by the MSM.

BLS for instance:  For the last 100+ weeks, we have pretty much the same headline, "Jobless claims fall again to all time low of 350k."

Of course we still have the slight truth underneath letting us know that the previous week's numbers were revised higher so the gov doesn't have us there yet but we are on our way.

My bet is that the sheeple are color blind for the most part and unless someone or some group with the tenacity of a pitbull keeps this thing alive, this administration will push Snowden into the same warehouse along with every other scandle they are dealing with and the sheeple will be none the better or worse off by it...

I don't believe that Snowden even exists.  Hong Kong Dollars are backed by the Federal Reserve.
Japan has been buying Japanese government bonds instead of US Treasuries and other government debt to further drop the value of the Yen.
So of course, there was the lashing of Abe, as if the US and CHina were never guilty of currency manipulation.

When there's no VALUE leverage into the US TReasuries, there's less for Bernanke to buy with since, uh.... the Yields/INterest on US government bonds (after printing dollars) is how they get the money to buy more US TReasuries and government bonds to begin with.
So there goes the bubble!

And when the Federal Reserve can't lend as much, oh- the cascade begins.  Not just here, but in ASia.  I strongly believe that's what happened to Asia's markets last night.

Goldman SAch's PMI that borrows in Hong Kong at the U.S. Federal Reserve rate for FREE to engage in interest rates with Malaysia at 6% (carry trade!); the money that Foxconn uses to hedge it's value as the remnimbi and yuan drops, the money used for HONG KONG REAL ESTATE SPECULATION---

and KABOOM!

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

WEll, Once they realized that anyone born after Gen X was not able to cover the debt incurred by our legislators and their lobbyists since not trade or investments are creating value in the US- the only value we really have left is that cash flow from foreign lenders.

Yeah, it's time for MSM to bring up the affirmative action/LBGT red herrings again.  Woohoo!

lovely debate y'all are having on global communism vs globo-nationalist facism (yes, I think I can say that has been invented now) but may we discuss the 3 rd choice available here... libertarianism , where the power is returned to we the people?

and whether moodys did this because of facist ties, or coerrsion by prism like info bombs being used to manipulate them... the answer is to de centralize power, and diffuse it back to the common man, for at least a generation, til the power brokers have passed.
