Edward Snowden Issues Statement From Moscow, Slams Obama

Tyler Durden's picture

Via Wikileaks:

Statement from Edward Snowden in Moscow

One week ago I left Hong Kong after it became clear that my freedom and safety were under threat for revealing the truth. My continued liberty has been owed to the efforts of friends new and old, family, and others who I have never met and probably never will. I trusted them with my life and they returned that trust with a faith in me for which I will always be thankful.

On Thursday, President Obama declared before the world that he would not permit any diplomatic "wheeling and dealing" over my case. Yet now it is being reported that after promising not to do so, the President ordered his Vice President to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions.

This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me.

For decades the United States of America have been one of the strongest defenders of the human right to seek asylum. Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon. Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person. Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right. A right that belongs to everybody. The right to seek asylum.

In the end the Obama administration is not afraid of whistleblowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless. No, the Obama administration is afraid of you. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised — and it should be.

I am unbowed in my convictions and impressed at the efforts taken by so many.

Edward Joseph Snowden

" It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised — and it should be."

I wouldn't care if somebody attributed that quote to Santa Claus, Bigfoot, or the Easter Bunny.  That is one incredibly powerful idea and it needs to be shouted from the hilltops.

It's the IDEA that matters, and that as many people get exposed to it as possible.

Beware of ideas being pushed in the mainstream media, no matter how hifalutin' they sound.

Anyone with a half a lick of sense knows, "It is afraid of an informed, angry public".

Hell, the NSA knows that they have to lie to us or we'll get pissed off and might call them names.

As far as I'm concerned, he's the only one I've seen in this thread making any sense! (I apologise for missing any others ... I had to stop reading all the gushing hero worship, and 'hope' for a 'change', before I became physically ill).

"an "evil" one?"

"Snowden" himself, or the op?

If you are referring to "Snowden" himself, then my opinion is that the person interviewed was a CIA actor. The oblique reference to 'Catch-22' is just TOO cute. ;-)

If you are referring to the op, then my opinion is that it was a much cheaper way to inform the masses that "Big Brother is watching YOU!! Shelter in place and eat your peas!" than either printing tens of thousands of posters or buying time on DWTS.

An ancilliary benefit of the op is that both the Administration and Congress have been discredited through their prior and subsequent actions ... making the final takedown of the US all the easier for the AshkeNAZIs. (Note how many in this thread, and in others, are expecting some kind of 'reset' ... as if those executing a deliberate implosion of the financial system in its own footprint don't have an equally well-planned outcome in store. LOL.)

How can you claim the MSM is worshipping him, when in fact they are calling him a traitor and demanding that he return home and 'face justice'?

You have had some good points up to now, but, "They WANT people to react so they can have an excuse to crack down." Not going to happen. Most Americans are not that angry, and would let his death pass as no big deal. These are the same people who have not even stopped to think what happened to Michael Hastings, if they even noticed he died. Add: You are obviously not one of them, as I just caught your addition of Michael Hastings to this conversation.

Before you reminded me of Emmanuel Goldstein I was thinking about a movie I watched the other night that had a character that was supposed to be the opponent but who was actually working on the main character's team.  It took me by surprise because I usually guess these things.

You always have to ask WHY?  Why would someone create this man/story?

I do know that the media can be told to shut up about national security issues, yet this story has been a big story every day.  Why?

The Snowden story is odd.  I'll leave it at that.

on this they can not be told:

Glen Greenwald won't drop it, isn't MSM, and if he won't drop it and Snowden keeps doing things or Russia does now, Ecuador, etc., then the MSM is dropped.

I literally mean the public is sheep enough to forget to keep watching them anymore if the hot story is not there. That is something they fear: they can NOT lose the focus of the sheeple or the propaganda machine is DONE.

That reminds me of the joke where a black man goes to heaven. St Peter tells him that he must have done something brave to gain entry. The black man answers, "I married a white woman." St Peter replies that he must have done something braver than that. The black man answers, that he married a white woman in Tennessee. St Peter is still not satisfied and tells him that his deed should have been braver. The black man then informs St Peter that he married her in front fo the Ku Klux Klan.

St Peter is amazed and makes him super welcome and in fact arranges a special dinner. While they are eating St Peter asks him how long ago this all happened. The black man looks at him and replies sheepishly, "about 20 minute ago".

So yes, the people of the US do need a champion that is not appointed by government to be able to fend for their rights and to speak openly about their fears, but I am not hopeful that such a government exists anywhere because every government is running out of options , excuses and strategies.

He must have his own speech writer. His statements seem just a bit too polished for a 30 year old tech geek. He maybe smart but guys like that tend to be lacking in the communication department. Very few of them can explain things in concise and non complicated terms to a non-tech person so they might understand it. If they can it is usually because they are better bullshit artists than technical people.

There are 2 types of tech people in the case of programmers there are those that write code and those that understand how the code works. Usually the later is able to actually explain to a non-tech person what they are doing while the former can't. My opinion based on personal experience dealing with a wide range of people from dumb as nails right on down to off the charts Albert Einstein bright, Y.M.M.V.

If I am wrong explain something technical to this knuckle dragging dumb as nails non-technical person in terms I and the other knuckle draggers can understand to refute my statement.

Some of us just have good innate skills at communicating. I'm sure he's thought a long time about what to say & how to say it because he literally has nothing else to distract him.

As for "technical" people I disagree completely:
they come in categories.
There's some who intend to keep changing things quicker than can be explained. We call them innovators.
There's some who intend to make cookie-cutter machines & code and may have time to explain, or may not depending on volume they intend to produce / distribute.
Then there's some who appear to have some understanding but lack the motivation or experience to actually do anything. PR, teachers, etc., and not necessarily bullshitters.
Those who are bullshitters trip themselves up in lies & poor explanations easily, often falling to improperly associated analogies & the most pro of bullshitters will fall back on prior experience not as public speakers but as motivational speakers. THOSE are the ones I dismiss right off the bat.

There are plenty of people on ZH (both as contributors and as posters) that I think are equally polished in both thought and speech. I have no doubts that it's possible for Snowden to do this.

While I'm still holding reservations about motives and how "real" Snowden is, the fact that he's calling out the President in such a public way is adding to his credibility. If he's an elaborate psyop, the folks running the show are clearly willing to risk emasculating the executive branch, pissing off our allies, and outing many secrets -- leading to to repeat my thought that either he's he real deal, or there's something so fucked up that they're trying to hide they're willing to sacrifice everything to do it.

I'm really starting to think we might actually have a true hero on our hands, finally. Time will reveal all.

Retribution: Is there really any place for these sociopaths and criminals in a restored civil and Constitutional society?!

O and his handlers are not bright.  One tactic to defuse this whole thing would have been to disavow Snowden, continually saying he never had the information he says he does, because he was never entrusted with that information.  They would have said he was never trustworthy, and anything he says is a lie, fabricating the government paperwork.  Then, simply bring him up on charges of mishandling government paperwork.  Thus, Snowden would become an unperson, shunned by the press.

Instead, the actions they took demonstrated the opposite, that they were afraid of Snowden's information, and that his information is accurate.

A government in fear is a dangerous government indeed.

It is not Snowden or those that may follow him who are scared. It is the government and with good reason. When it is too late they will realise that future leaks of information will come from individuals on the inside who will take great care to cover their tracks and who will release their information anonymously or who will secure assylum before making announcements.

Lots of hero talk around here regarding Snowden, but what has he uncovered that everybody didn't already know?  It's the government theater's way of breaking the news to you they've been doing more things you won't like.

It's like Assange, supposedly holding all these secrets on Israel but never mentioning any details that a goy of average intelligence could discover on their own if they had the least curiosity.  Something stinks to high heaven!

You know why the "hero" talk?

Assange, Manning and Snowden lost their freedom.  How many would walk the trail they are walking?  They are despised by those they accused.  Most look up to him but would run in the other direction as soon as .gov's nose is pointed their way.

There aren't that many out there who would dare to stand in Snowden's shoes.  I daresay he would rather be sitting on a beach in Hawaii with his girlfiend than experiencing his fifteen minutes of "fame".

More correspondence by Snowden:

Text of a letter by Edward Snowden to the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa. Written in Spanish; obtained and translated by the Press Association, London

There are few world leaders who would risk standing for the human rights of an individual against the most powerful government on earth, and the bravery of Ecuador and its people is an example to the world.

I must express my deep respect for your principles and sincere thanks for your government's action in considering my request for political asylum.

The government of the United States of America has built the world's largest system of surveillance. This global system affects every human life touched by technology; recording, analysing, and passing secret judgment over each member of the international public.

It is a grave violation of our universal human rights when a political system perpetuates automatic, pervasive and unwarranted spying against innocent people.

In accordance with this belief, I revealed this programme to my country and the world. While the public has cried out support of my shining a light on this secret system of injustice, the government of the United States of America responded with an extrajudicial man-hunt costing me my family, my freedom to travel and my right to live peacefully without fear of illegal aggression.

As I face this persecution, there has been silence from governments afraid of the United States government and their threats. Ecuador however, rose to stand and defend the human right to seek asylum.

The decisive action of your consul in London, Fidel Narvaez, guaranteed my rights would be protected upon departing Hong Kong – I could never have risked travel without that. Now, as a result, and through the continued support of your government, I remain free and able to publish information that serves the public interest.

No matter how many more days my life contains, I remain dedicated to the fight for justice in this unequal world. If any of those days ahead realise a contribution to the common good, the world will have the principles of Ecuador to thank.

Please accept my gratitude on behalf of your government and the people of the Republic of Ecuador, as well as my great personal admiration of your commitment to doing what is right rather than what is rewarding.

Edward Joseph Snowden.

Be surprised if this statement airs on the msm in full. I took a gander at all the terrestrial news channels this evening and it bore absolutely no relation to reality whatsoever. There was a huge protest in Joburg against Obama's visit and while tear gas and stun grenades popped, the media reported on "red tie guy" grinning cheerfully behind Obama. Unreal.

Has anyone seen Banksy Moon? You'd think Edward's forced exile and revoked citizenship would be a case to show his weak jawed concern on the contravention of article 15 of the UDHR by the US. Maybe he's busy getting reeducated after his lacklustre support for arming the rebels in Syria.

Anyway, you've got my whole family's support mate. Even my mum loves you. Hang tight.

I have been spouting off for a while around here and I am finally so pissed off that I am back in action politically.  I know it will not solve the world's problems but it is time to push back and this is one way I can do that.  They keep taking a little at time from us so I am turning to fight back now.  This bullshit has gone WAY too far.  If you are going to play then play to win.  I may not be able to physically throw 90 mph fastballs anymore but I just threw a written 107 mph two seam fastball high and tight to the City of.

If everyone else does the same....

7-1-13 UPDATE:

The slow wheels of .gov have been set in motion.  I contacted my fellow local MNGOP officers and the reply was to go for it.  That means I will enjoy the support of a St Cloud State University Economics professor and former State Representative.  The City Council Member I contacted is also a professor at St Cloud State University and a friend of the local MNGOP Executive Committee of which I am an Officer although of the Ron Paul persuasion.

A reply from one of the members of the local MNGOP Executive Committee exclaimed that my letter to the council member which I wrote this morning was "excellent" and that I should submit it for publication to the St Cloud Times.  I will give the council member some time to respond before I proceed.  Even Mrs. M is behind me on this!

In my recent reply to the local MNGOP I brought up the fact that Milwaukee does not seem to have a problem with tailgating and provided their policies.  Here are the policies.

PRISM Leaker Busts NSA and Obama

The source of the NSA PRISM leak has confirmed what some of us already had pieced together from other leads:

The government does force businesses to hand over all of your phone calls, emails, and files; the government does have direct access to their servers; and the media does ignore the leads.

Obama did expand these unconstitutional programs; he does lie about it all; and the media does cover for him.

Such a whistleblower is exactly what I have been expecting. Whereas, many of us would have done the same thing, we would have been filtered out up front. However, the police state has grown so large, and thus needs so many people, that they cannot filter out every potential whistleblower. Their overreach has backfired on them.

The “conspiracy theorists” were right, and all those who ridiculed them, and who defended the government, the media, and Obama, are on the wrong side of history. For the benefit of future generations, don’t let any progressives or neocons forget that we all know they backed tyranny – just like we never let the KKK forget what they did.

Progressives and neocons have been discredited. They have no excuse because tens of millions of libertarians, Tea Partiers, Constitutionalists, and some conservatives have been warning them for decades. It is true, libertarians and many conservatives are more liberal than liberals!

The source of the leak decided to forfeit his life to expose the NSA and the Obama Administration for the traitorous thugs they are. Therefore, we should risk our own lives to protect him. Unfortunately, it will be impossible to ever know his true identity, or if he is still alive.

Edward Snowden has now claimed to be the source of the leak. Just in case he is the real source of the leak, we owe him safety at any cost, but don’t get caught up in his personality cult. He could just as easily be a plant by the CIA to infiltrate the resistance in a future police state. They CIA and the media could even set him up to become the President some day by building a personality cult around him and by neutralizing his opponents – just like they did for Obama.

The PRISM leaker is the hero, and Obama is the bad guy. He is the patriot, and Obama is the traitor.

If Edward Snowden is the source of the leak, then he has done all he can, and now, as painful as it will be, fixing America is the only path forward (other than starting a new country - let's do both), and the PRISM leak just made that possible.

Do not underestimate the impact of what the PRISM leak has done.

The PRISM leaker may have just saved the Soul of Humanity.

America was the last stand. If we Americans were disarmed, then the 1000 years of global tyranny that would result (until it crumbled from within) will have killed the Soul of Humanity around the globe. Those genes will have become extinct.

Through the PRISM leaker, the Soul of Humanity strikes back!

Now more whistleblowers will try to expose what I describe as the Elites attempting to kill the Soul of Humanity. These Elites were already desperate, and had greatly accelerated their plans under Obama, such as provoking an armed conflict with the American people, and now they will overreach even more in their desperation – which will backfire on them even more.

Their multigenerational efforts could go back underground for a while, but it is more likely they will go for all the marbles this time; and it could thus get very ugly before it gets better because they have the means, the motive, and the psychopathology to precipitate war and genocide unlike anything in history if they think they will come out on top – and they do think they will come out on top. They have been preparing for exactly this kind of end game if necessary. They can precipitate civil wars, class wars, race wars, genocide, economic collapse, world wars, nuclear wars, famine, and pandemics. No cost is too great. Winning the end game is the only thing that matters to them.

Consider why they have recently begun rabid persecution of preppers, gun owners, and gold owners.

Nevertheless, the long term future looks much brighter today because so many people will lose their awe of these Elites and see them for the psychopaths they are. If the Elite cannot stamp out the meme that they are the making the bad stuff happen, then they have permanently lost the end game – and the survival of this meme is the necessary service performed by whistleblowers.

We haven’t had the Elites back on their heals like this since 1776.

I KNOW how BADLY you all want to believe in Ed Snowden.  Until I see more evidence that Snowden is actually in Russia, this is just Kabuki theater to me.  You are better off believing in yourself and getting off your ass to go to a city council meeting and start fighting back.  Myself, I hope that this Snowden guy is real but even if he is, what is that going to accomplish?  ZH bloggers, come on here.  Cut the lionization act and go to your local .gov meetings.  Clog the system up so they can't pass anymore bullshit.  Shout them down if need be.

We already know Washington D.C. is a corrupt shithole.  What is Snowden going to do to change that?  And besides, Snowden just asked you to get off your asses and do something so that his effort is not wasted.  If you all really believe in Snowden, then I suggest you act.  If I can find the time to do it so can you.  Turn their own bullshit around on them.  For example, I saw something and I said something to my City Council Member.  I AM going to push the issue.

In reality, the only logical answer is for states to start seceding from the union.  That mechanism is already in place and the principle of such is ensconced in the Declaration of Independence.  If you really want the tree of liberty to burn bright once again you can't rely on just me go after them.  I will get shut down if I am alone.  I have been at it politically for seven years now via the Ron Paul campaigns.  Our efforts have cost me my job and the jobs of everyone else that I know of that was involved in the RP campaigns and I mean everyone because that is how they try to shut you up.  What I am going to do now might cost me my job again but I am going in.  Yes, it is the real fight club when you stick your neck out and get involved but Snowden did it.  Can you?

Do you REALLY believe in what you say you do or are you just fucking around with a keyboard and mouse?  All I know is that when I look behind me when I have charged, it has been a pretty thin brigade thus far.  STOP being scared of them already!

Comrade, we must speak respectfully of St. Ed or The Church of Snowden will get upset and push the little red arrows in unison.

Then so be it Rowdy Roddy.  I have to admit that it has been quite a meme.  LRC is playing it for all it is worth.  I could really give a shit less about what votes I receive here in ZH.  I will change my position when I change my screen name .  Jesus Christ, even the Onion figured it out a weeks ago.

How about a new photo of Snowden?  http://www.theonion.com/video/nation-demands-new-photograph-of-edward-snowden,32831/

The votes that are going to matter are the ones that come from the City Council members in my endeavor.

People are so desperate for anyone to speak up or take a stand against this criminal organization we call government. We pay these bastards to rob us blind & steal our rights.

Our Founding Fathers left us with the greatest document ever--> called The Constitution. They warned us about the likes of Obama. They even left us with instructions.

History will judge us, how will the story end?
