The Tanks Have Been Deployed

Tyler Durden's picture

Courtesy of the BBC's Jeremy Bowen, and 911 operator we can see that the tanks in Cairo are now deployed. Surely this will add at least another 10 points to the Stalingrad and Propaganda 500 on anywhere between 2 and 3 contracts in today's hilarious zero volume revolutionary melt up.

And another from Quentin Sommerville:

From Reuters:

The Egyptian army erected barbed wire and barriers around a barracks where embattled President Mohamed Mursi was working and deployed armored vehicles and troops to prevent his supporters marching from a nearby rally to his palace, witnesses said.

A Reuters journalist saw troops move into place close to the Rabaa Adaweya mosque area, where tens of thousands of supporters of Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood are rallied to support the democratically elected president and what they call constitutional legitimacy.

The army said in an official statement that it was security the area and denied what it said were reports that it was attacking Mursi's supporters, saying: "The Egyptian army belongs to all Egyptians."

Watching the live feed from Tahiri Square (link below), I occasionally see an INTESELY bright green light coming from multiple places in the crowd and blinding the camera.  Is this some kind of anti-personnel laser/lidar?  I remember seeing similar things in the riots in Brazil a few weeks ago.  Can anyone offer conjecture??  As a scientist knowledgeable about the danger of lasers to the human eye, I am concerned.

"Wolf Blitzer" is the official "Voice Of Israel". He is totally shameless in his worship of Israel expansion and repression. Actually, I have long called CNN, "The Cable Neo-Con Network", which it clearly is. When I want to know what Israel thinks we Americans should be told, I tune in CNN to hear the offical news from Israel's propaganda ministry.

Blitzer is a disgusting propagandist, his whole routine is to equate Israeli policy with America's security. If not for Israel, we Americans would not be safe in our beds at night. Blitzer and his followers lie in order to gain US Tax Dollar, US weapons and US military support. All paid for by our tax dollars and our kids lives. As long as people like Blitzer call the shots, America will be a second class nation that dances to the tune of Israel.

I think a look at history and US policy, both foreign and domestic, supports my statement above. But if you ignore reality and the historical record of recent years, then you can say Israel does not have total influence over American government and tax money and foreign policy.

Banksters. +1,000. You have hit the main point of recent events. This entire Middle Eastern conflicy has been carefully crafted By Israel and the USA's secert services. The idea was, and is, to fuel a giant Sunni-Shia civil war from Iraq, to Syria and across the entire Middle East. To destroy Arab nations not allied with Israel/NATO/Washington. If Israel is in the Middle East and all the Arab and Persian states are in civil war or smashed into conflicting mini states based on religion and ethnicity, that leaves Israel as sole Super Power in the Middle East and able to destroy any mini state it pleases or go kill anyone anywhere they want across the region.

Syria is the prime example of this policy. The NATO/Israel/USA army of Sunni Jihadists have been recruited, trained, armed and paid for by them. The goal is to tear Syria into ethnic mini states, with no power and no economies, all under the thumb of Israel's massive American funded military. Iraq went first, then Libya, now Syria, Lebanon is next, then Iran. All that stands in the way of total conquest of the Middle East is Russia and China. Only they have the power to save Syria and Iran from NATO conquest. Will they step up and defend those two states? It is hard to say, they have shown a lack of courage in the past, but they may be changing their views as the NATO grip over Russia's neighbor states grows. Time will tell. If Russia abandons Syria, then Iran will be attacked very quickly. The US/NATO/Israel will flatten Iran and kill hundreds of thousands and they will call it freedom fighting and liberation. That will be a lie.

Mubarak was allied with Israel and Washington. Very closely allied with both, just not the closet Muslim Oreo. Yeah and when all the mini-states are under Sharia Law guess what they ain't so small then once they become a confederation or united regional caliphates, one nation under Allah....... That would be the absolute worst case scenario for Israeli. It is not Israeli who is rocking the boat here but the anti-semites can't see past their hatred for joos. There is a difference between joos and kikes..........

NSA at work!

It is like Groundhog Day! Once again an undersea cable has been cut — the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (aka SEA-ME-WE 4) cable and that is causing an internet (and communications) slowdown in and around Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia. The cut was said to be near Alexandria in Egypt. Tata Communications – previously Videsh Sanchar Nigam LimitedIndia – administers the network.

While the cut was on a single cable, it came at an unfortunate time as a few other major cables were in “maintenance mode” and that has resulted in problems for service providers across the region. Our sources in the telecom community confirmed that two other cables — Europe India Gateway (EIG) and India-Middle East-Western Europe (IMEWE) — were in ‘maintenance’ mode when the SWM4 got cut. The result is downstream congestion on networks that are going to India and around the Indian Ocean. UAE’s Etisalat reported that the internet speeds were down by as much as 60 percent in some locations.

The military has always been in charge, remember Sadat and Mubarak were Air Force officers. The military will allow civilian rule as long as the interests of the military are secure. This is clearly not the case now, hence, they stepped in.  Morsi was doomed by not only his reactionary views on a Islamic republic but also by the irreversible decline of egyptian oil output and the growing costs of subsidising fuel and bread for the masses, roughly 30-35% of the Egyptian budget...

Thing is that the Egyptian wheels are coming off and it don;t really matter who is running things...

Wed, 07/03/2013 - 14:32 | Link to Comment Paveway IV
Paveway IV's picture

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) would prefer to live in the shadows and just scurry off with their 40% of Egyptian taxes and the annual $1.3B in U.S. military aid. They were on Mubarak's side up until and for most of the Spring Uprising, not the Egyptian peoples' side. They only changed their tune when Mubarak's resignation was inevitable. When protesters showed up during the 16-month military rule (prior to Morsi's election), jackboots met necks once again.

General Al-Sisi's proclamation yesterday:

"...It is an honour for us to die rather than that anyone should terrorise or threaten the Egyptian people," it said. "We swear to God, we will sacrifice even our blood for Egypt and its people to defend them against any terrorist, radical or fool..."

is odd, considering the way he 'protected' Egyptian women a little over a year ago:

"...During protests following Mubarak's ouster al-Sisi was caught in controversy over "virginity tests" that were given to female protesters. Al-Sisi told Amnesty International that the tests were carried out to "protect" the army from possible rape allegations but vowed to ban the practice, Amnesty said..."

Before Morsi took office, SCAF gave itself immunity from civilian oversight and said it would take care of drafting up a new constitution. One of Morsi's first big actions was to remove the heads of the SCAF, but in doing so also proclaimed them immune from prosecution for any human rights violations they obviously initiated or executed.

SCAF was always using soldiers in civilian dress during the 2011 uprising to stir things up. Now there's rape gangs wandering around Tahir square. You have to wonder who is worse for Egypt: the Muslim Brotherhood or the SCAF psychopaths? The Muslim Brotherhood have no clue about marketing and PR, you're just suppose to obey them. The Egyptian military learned from their last episode of unpopularity: censorship and propaganda WORK.

The prospect of WWIII would be bullish for US equities especially those involved in the military/industrial complex. Jesse Livermore bought the major industrial stocks of the day in 1916 prior to the US entering WWI and he made a fortune on that trade. His decision was based on when a friend of his dropped his hat and he picked it up for him and inside the hat were his friend's initials W.A.R. That is how the legendary stock operator got his "buy" signal.

Insider info, same as it ever was.

War is a racket, and weapons are America's major manufacturing export (I'm talking jets, explosives, missiles, drones).

The military industrial complex is owned (in large part) and operated (for the benefit of) by a handful of individuals (who may or may not also be part of the banking cartel).

Yea, Bastiat, we left most of them in SE Asia a few years back.. Made that country the 4th largest conventinal military power at the time. That country later used those APC's and kicked China's ass on their border while the ran over into Cambodia and put a stop to the insanity there that the USSA and China were condoning by the Khemr Rouge,

I rode in one of those, they were hot, smokey and did little in protection to a sholder mount RPG (we called them B 40's).
