The Tanks Have Been Deployed
Courtesy of the BBC's Jeremy Bowen, and 911 operator we can see that the tanks in Cairo are now deployed. Surely this will add at least another 10 points to the Stalingrad and Propaganda 500 on anywhere between 2 and 3 contracts in today's hilarious zero volume revolutionary melt up.
And another from Quentin Sommerville:
From Reuters:
The Egyptian army erected barbed wire and barriers around a barracks where embattled President Mohamed Mursi was working and deployed armored vehicles and troops to prevent his supporters marching from a nearby rally to his palace, witnesses said.
A Reuters journalist saw troops move into place close to the Rabaa Adaweya mosque area, where tens of thousands of supporters of Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood are rallied to support the democratically elected president and what they call constitutional legitimacy.
The army said in an official statement that it was security the area and denied what it said were reports that it was attacking Mursi's supporters, saying: "The Egyptian army belongs to all Egyptians."

...or some good feathers to fly from it.
Where is the Rat Pack when you need them....
My dad, who was in a position to know this, once said: Sinatra was a skinny little punk. He never took a swing at anyone unless he had two bodyguards with him. (if that's the Rat Pack you were thinking of). Dean Martin would be too drunk.
Where are all the M1 Abrams tanks that were given to the Egyptian military? I feel betrayed by Zerohedge, I didn't want to see a bunch of APCs.
the taints have been deployed!
Wow Cairo looks nearly as militarised under Martial Law as Boston....
(Rimshot!)
The prospect of a good war (even if civil and foreign) stimulates Krugman's package.
Hey Roubini, do you see any geopolitical risk now ?
Rube-ninny: Where? If it's not right next to my vagina sculptures then I won't notice it.
So which are the counter-revolutionaries?
None of them.
They are just people that are sick to death of it all.
America has a corporate military. We are already run by corporate interests. America is fascist. It would take a group of American generals who are not vested into the corporate scheme with a real heart for this country to overthrow our government and reestablish a free republic. The people alone cannot ever accomplish this.
All that needs to happen is for the oil to run out or get too expensive.
The next day they are all out of jobs. Don't have to fire a single shot or burn anything down. Just have to wait. Once it's done, the bunch of them can apologise then get on with doing somethign useful with their lives versus the current situation which is produce nothing of value, act without direction and play an angle with no win.
I'm a capitalist and an opportunist. What we have here isn't even a corporate thing. It's just worthless corruption, even for the people running it. All that effort lying and killing. No time for themselves to spend it on more meaningful things. They all wasted their lives for nothing and nothing to show for it all except alot of hard feelings.
Once the oil problem surfaces later this year along with a couple of other spiked punch bowls that have nothing to do with rebellions, the TPTB will tune in and understand what really needs to be done. Which is for them to step out of the way and go do something else.
For anyone needing a very nifty website that's tracking all the various tweets, live feeds and so on, here you go.
Impressive little site that one.
Cheers Aurora.

Got a translation to the text and/or a cultural reference? - I'm assuming it's the Egyptian version of Benny Hill.
Damn idiot 'journalists' have no knowledge of the everyday world - everything is generalized bullshit. Anything that is on treads is a tank. Anything that is a gun is an AK. I doubt they can order breakfast and know the difference between toast, bagel, muffin, or a biscuit. That is highly specialized knowledge. Their head would explode form all that detail.
One could only hope.
They have fireworks there..they are dangerous..ask Mayor Bloomberg...he would outlaw those things....and do they have conceled carry for those Ma Duces on the APC´s...i don´t think so...better get a law passed on that too...and 20 round mags got to go...in a coup..you don´t need that kind of stuff...
Worst of all... I think I see an over sized Coke or Pepsi in the photo... Is that Sarah Palin??
just send in the fucking dronez! lol
What's with all the fireworks? Still 5 hours until 4th of July in Cairo!

DHS Watchdog: ‘Intuition and Hunch’ Are Enough to Search Your Gadgets at Border

Homeland Security watchdog faces fresh allegations. Taxpayer vacations, hired his wife, ordered her telecommuting records deleted as she was "working" in India for 7 months, and then spying on employees at work.
This government is so corrupt, it's hilarious.
In America - generals and admirals chase whores like Jill Kelly-Abdullah and Paula Goodwal or whatever that skanks name is. They get cheezy boob jobs. Petreaus sells out and gets college gig. If they only had half the courage Snowden has.
The USA military are about pensions, MIC, weapons systems, MOAR war, cheap booze at the PX, getting a spying gig at Al-CIA-da or NSA so they can lie to Congress like Clapper or Alexander. Cowards.
Paula Goodhead I think...
Get the drones
When do the suicide boomers go off?
Where's are the bitches from CNN getting raped?
Where's Geraldo Rivera?
Pussies.

War in Egypt is very low on the list of threats to these markets.
Now is a good time to visit Cairo. The pyramids and museums are not overrun by mass tourists. Egypt is always worth the trip. It's simply fascinating because of its ancient history, long before Jews, Muslims and Christians distorted the world view and culture. We're in this collective mind trap and mental anguish ever since the so called great religions of so called Abraham got established. Maybe Egypt can lead the way to back to our pre judeo-christian-muslim spiritual "roots". Maybe just maybe life and death will have real value again when mankind evolves past this notion of a 1 God, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, Martyr, Warrior and Creator. It's awfully boring and painfully dishonest to say the least.
i was there in march. simply amazing place.
yeah, i heard they're real sweet on americans.
put the Canadian accent on, eh?
Not just Egypt.. the world hates the US for NSA and so many other reasons.
We have lost every sympathy bonus we may have ever had.
The only people hated more on this planet than Americans are Jews. Ironic how that happened, isn't it?
Interesting comment, because I have longed to visit that part of the world. Alas, as a WASP I now would have to undergo severe weight loss, get tanned, grow a beard etc to have any chance of surviving the "cut". (beheading)
Carney: "Mr. President Sir, I need a statement to mollify the press"
Obama: "Jay, not NOW I can't find my golf ball. Is that a two stroke penalty or stroke and distance... Oh cool, I just saw an antelope. If I had a pet antelope it would look just like that."
If I had a father he'd look just like Nelson Mandella
American made M113 armored personal carriers patrolling Kairo's streets. That's easy to identify. But can anyone identify the battle tanks in the picture. Ramses II/T54???? Thanks!
US M-60 tanks. Not sure of variant, A2 or A3 maybe. 105mm main gun.
Thanks, that looks right.
Pretty sure those are M60A3's (Patton):

Speculating on the big picture: the populace did not like the de-secularization of their lives nor the collapsing economy, nor the support of the Syrian "rebels" or mercs, or terrorists. If the Egyption military is "owned" by the US, their role here will be to defuse the uprising without changing policy ie. throw Morsi under the bus. The risk is that the brotherhood gets radical and doesn't play along. It's entirely possible that the brotherhood will just put on a show, force "compromise" (that still leaves Morsi under the bus) and it all goes on. The brotherhood after all supports the overthrow of Assad and so would be on the same page with the US and the military in that regard. We'll see.
LOL !!! GOOD WRITING!!!!!
I’m 61 (public health version--doin’ life like

Measure Of Civic Burden
The Measure of Civic Burden is inspired by
the extra we pay for insurance to cover the
extra cost of cops denying people's rights,
intimidation, profiling, etc.
It's a simple notion of course, but I've
used it (and I won't spam) in parallel with
paying more to get less, along the lines of
market control, gatekeeping, risk filtering
(privatize the profits, socialize the cost,)
and pay to play in multiple sectors, including
health care.
I think it's a picture of slavery, charted
along time.
The tank in the first picture is an M60/A3 - other wise known is some circles as a Patton tank. Notice the drive cog at the rear of the tank just aft of the road wheels. They were bought from US Army surplus stocks in the 1980s and then more bought after end of the Cold War.
So, both the APCs (M113) and the tank in the picture are American!
USA! USA!
Egypt can share the same independence day as the US.
"They were bought from US Army surplus stocks in the 1980s and then more bought after end of the Cold War."
how come i doubt that they ever bought them...with their hard earned money...or the cash we gave them....????
Money we give them as foreign aid, miltary aid or loans which are always later fogiven
Whoever's running the PR / Agitprop, they snuck an anti-NSA joke in there. Banner as Email as Agitprop. Very smart bunny whoever made that one up.
Oh, and I hope the pro-Morsi young males don't go down too hard, it's rather tragic comparing their level of gear to the recent Turkish AKP standards.
nimmer wieder krieg.
unless we can make some money from it :-)
the evil empire keeps expanding.
Once again America finds itself on the wrong side of the barriers. How can a government that is so inept be still in power?
Here's a tip.
"Stalingrad and Propaganda 500"
That's some funny speak right there. I am gonna hafta steal that one.
On a side note, I am surprised the military lets protestors within Molotov Cocktail Distance of those tanks WTF ????????
