You're full of crap. I was a prosecutor in two major cities for 8 years. This was a bullshit, racially motivated political prosecution set up by evil elites with their evil media intent on promoting their divide and conquer race wars to turn us all against each other.
I believe the criminal justice system is racist to the core -the bogus war on drugs is no better than the bogus war on terror - it results in imprisoning a grotesquely disproportionate amount of African Americans when they could just a easily imprison rich middle class whites if they chose to target them.

Sav is correct. I listened to a podcast from Stefan Molyneux about this case today for about 30 minutes.
If 1/10th of the facts of this case were actually made public before the media-induced race-baiting rage that compromised the collective's intellect.....this incident would not have even made the news. I say "incident" because there certainly would have been no case.
I suggest (if you are interested) to listen about the backstory of this case. Zim was no racist. He tutored black kids for free. His back neighbors like him and voted him watch captain. Because there were several (all black male) burgularies in his hood. His biz partner was black.
Trayvon's records are sealed for obvious reasons. They would not help the prosecution, to put it mildly.
And to think all it took was an editing of a 911 call to cause all this bullshit, along with taking liberties about Zim's race.

The fact that the jury came to a fairly quick verdict (about 13 hours) on this highest of profile cases sort of tells me they heard and understood more of the evidence than the peanut gallery did.

This was a complete tragedy with the cause being directly tied to racism, no doubt. But an armed adult male cannot legally approach and kill an unarmed kid, black or otherwise, without being convicted of murder. There are a number of things that people don't want to see about this case but the biggest is the result of the fear of one gruop of people about another group of people. I grew up in a black community and I'm a white guy. I live in a city now. Anytime I walk alone, any time of day or night, I am aware of what is happening around me as muggings occur anytime of day in places where predators can strike without warning or being noticed. I will be the first to say that if a white guy in a suit is following me I feel a lot more comfortable than a black guy in a hoodie...that's wrong and I know it, but why do I feel that way? Maybe because I don't worry about white people in professional attire doing drive by shootings, maybe its because I don't worry about white people in professional attire being part of the Crips or Bloods or some other gang. Now, if you get a big white dude with long greasy hair, tattoos, a wife beater t-shirt and some grungy clothes and I'll worry the same way I worry abut the black guy in a hoody. We're programmed to recognize danger, and in movies on TV iand in real life bad guys are depicted and dress and look a certain way; that's just the way it is. If Trayvon was indeed a harlmess kid then this is terrible tragedy. If he was looking for trouble in a gated community where he should not have been and was dressing the part of a gang banger then he learned a very terrible lesson. We will never truly know, the only thing we will know is that society creates and glorifies bad guys and stereotypes. Dreesing like a thug should not be a crime punished by death, but I guarantee there are parts of my city where if I walk down the streets right now with my short haicut and dressed like a white professional, I would get shot, and that's not being dressed like a thug. The difference is my stereotype threatens no one and is not feared, but it is reviled in certain areas, plus I would just be considered an outsider by gangs. The gangbanger stereotype puts fear into most people and for good reason as they celebrate the outlaw lifestyle. Perhaps we need to change at a deeper level. This is not a simple problem and there is no simple solution. The only way people will stop 'profiling' is when they don't fear the profile. That is at the heart of the issue. Be aware of where you are and your situation is all I can say. I don't believe that Zimmerman just walked up to this kid and shot him. But just like i need to be aware of what goes on around me, Trayvon should have done the same...if someone follows me I sure as shit don't confront them, I get the fuck out of there. Being brave by yourself isn't being brave, it foolish and there are a lot of dead guys who would say so if they had the chance. Anyway, its a tragedy that a young man died under circumstances that will never truly be known. The best that can come from it is that we learn something to prevent this from happening again in the future.
There will be screams of RAYCIS, but i just have to say, knew a guy that loved the line "BET set blacks back by at least three decades", I'd have to say i agree.

This was a just verdict for a number of reasons.
First though, I would like to lob a heartfelt condescending and contemptuous insult to all those that think that a guilty verdict should have been rendered:
You are truly a gaggle of small-minded morons and should do us all a favor and turn in your voter Registration cards.
Here's why:
Bubblegum, there is NO EVIDENCE whatsoever that George Zimmerman confronted Travon. NONE. Following TM was
within his rights under the law. George had as much right to be in the same public place as TM. Whether you think that was an instigation is immaterial, for to think otherwise is to assume that George did not have right to be there.
911 operator or police do not have the authority to order George around if he was not breaking the law.
THERE IS NO EVIDENCE that George confronted TM. None. Following someone is not equal to confronting him. Annoying? perhaps. But neither illegal nor confrontational if he had every legal right to do so.
No evidence exists that demonstrates tha George confronted and escalated the situation. Even if George did approach TM, TM too had a legal burden not to escalate.
Being 17 does not absolve you of your responsibility to refrain from escalating.
Most of these morons are assuming that George confronted Travon. That is wrong. A verdict is a hypothesis test, with the null hypothesis being "not guilty" and the alternative hypothesis being "guilty".
When performing a hypothesis test, you act on EVIDENCE, not what you think, nor what you feel, and neither on the outcome of the series of events. Why is this so god damned hard for you to grasp?
With no evidence of who initiated and escalated the confrontation, you have REASONABLE DOUBT and must acquit.
There is a doctrine called Disparity of Force that authorizes lethal force in self-defense situations which becomes effective when a person gains advantage in an altercation in such a way that he is capable of inflicting "death or grave bodily harm". When this occurs, use of lethal force is authorized. TM was witnessed on top of George, slamming his head against concrete. This is a situation where grave bodily harm can easily be caused and hence Disparity of Force applies. The attacker NEED NOT BE ARMED to have disparity of force so spare me the idiotic "he shot an unarmed man" sophomoric bullshit.
True, evidence thatTM attacked is not conclusive either but the burden of proof is on the state to demonstrate tha George was the attacker. They had nothing to support that claim other than 3 weeks of "pounding the table" with emotional appeals to the jury.
Following someone in a public place does not legally comprise "aggression". Again, the burden was on TM to restrain himself if you think that was "provocation".
This is Civics 101 and yet I see a plethora of absolute morons that neither understand the concept of "reasonable doubt", are utterly ignorant of law, and are are so well conditioned to "emote" rather than think that it's no wonder that our culture has gone down the shitter.

Well, they don't beleive in any type up self defence up there. I was up there after this happened and it was non-stop anti gun propaganda by the CBC. I'm not sure if they ever got around to correcting the story when the facts started coming out. I would imagine Canadians have a totally diferent perception of what happened than Americans do.
