A jury of six women found neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman not guilty of all charges on Saturday in the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Here are some quotes from key figures involved in the case. From the AP:

When I was in my early 30's I worked in a Detroit suburb. I had a cook who lived on 7 mile. If you have heard of 8 mile in Detroit, not the best neighborhood. The tweet about a "large and violent crowd gathering" at Daley Plaza in Chicago is a joke. The Chicago Tribune video of the rally looked kinda pathetic. One guy with a megaphone and maybe a dozen or so others who didn't look too fired up. Everybody else was probably at Taste of Chicago watching Jill Scott.

Martin was returning to the residence of his father's girl friend in that subdivision after going to the store. He carried a bottle of iced tea and a package of skittles.

The only thing you need to know about this trial is that the media constantly referred to Zimmerman as a White-Hispanic. Huh? This was purely done so as to not offend the Hispanic population - a not insignificant minority in Florida.
Ok, so this meatbag will put his thoughts in writing just for kicks. First off, I could not give a damn what color any of these folks are.
Once again the "situation" is so surreal as to seem staged. One has to wonder if this result was not politically motivated to create more instability as some here have suggested.
As for the verdict. Here are the simple facts as I see them. If I were followed by someone and then confronted, I would react the same way this young man acted even today in my old age. Had I been 17 year old at the time, when I had a serious case of invincibility like most male teens have, then I surely would have reacted the same way.
The adult and aggressor here was Zimmerman and regardless of Zimmerman's fear, he had no right to start a fight (stalking and confronting) then end it with a gunshot to an unarmed teen. Everyone one of us would have reacted exactly the way the teen reacted, especially when they were 17.
The jury here were cowards and followed their instructions instead of logic. We have juries to tease out the subtle complexities of real cases. If not, then we could just use a simple computer if-then routine to to interpret the letter of the law. So once again, this appears to be a set-up to generate yet more instability. The other alternative is that the justice system is broken, which I also strongly suspect to be the case.

The teen was stalked and confronted. Just as you were confronted by my post. You are escalating what was a neutral position between the two of us by getting personal. So, if I continue the escalation here by calling you a pussy, then does that give you the right to shoot me? If I take a swing at you? Does that give you the right? When does it end? When we start fights we need to be prepared for the consequences. Zimmerman, should have been thinking more clearly what might be the normal reaction of a teen before we went all vigilante. Once again, Zimmerman was the adult here. If you carry a gun, you need to take responsibility if you kill someone.
