Obama Statement On Zimmerman Verdict: "Death Of Trayvon Martin Was A Tragedy"

Tyler Durden's picture

The White House released a statement on Sunday afternoon from President Obama in response to the jury’s verdict in the murder trial of George Zimmerman.  Below is the President’s unedited statement:

"The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America.  I know this case has elicited strong passions.  And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher.  But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken.  I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son.  And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities.  We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis.  We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this.  As citizens, that’s a job for all of us.  That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin."

Well....just fine.   We've driven out the producers and honest folk and created a solidly Democratic-voting series of congressional districts where the entitled will vote for whoever promises the largest check cut from someone else's labor.

Obama suggests we honor the "no limit nigga" by disarming all potential victims of black violence.  And let's be honest about this; had a white man been killed while attacking a black person there would have been no statement at all from the Impostor in Chief.  In fact there have been many cases of white people being victimized by blacks with not a peep from Obama.

I mean, why honor this guy at all?  He's a thug that has been victimizing people his entire short life.  Why honor him?  Because he's black.  There is no other reason that Obama would suggest he be honored at all.  Yeah, if Obama had a son, he'd look like the "no limit nigga."

this zimmerman affair has all the veracity of sandy hook and the boston bombathon.  how do we know zim's assault pics weren't photo shopped?  no blood on zim's clothes and he was on the bottom?  all the evidence comes from the perpetrator.  tray was the one on trial here and he took an involuntary 5th. zim mind's his business that night and everything is status quo. zim came to the violence using disproportionate force to the circumstances.  plus it's his word against a dead man's.  and the pols are playing it for what it's worth.  distraction and more federal control.

A dead big tatoo’d thug portrayed as a little kiddie in a hoodie needs to be revered in a nation of laws that is governed consequent to a layered graphic file that was  retracted on an official government web site soon after being revealed as fraudulent.

His mother agrees you're an idiot. Are you having trouble typing with your "court nails"? If the young thug Martin had really been on trial as you claim, then all of his Twitter feeds and Youtube subscriptions would have been shown to the world. It is a good thing for his parents that they weren't - their failure stays (mostly) hidden.

"Here's a pic of Trayvon Martin just before he had an encounter with GZ..."

And here's what happened to the guy that supplied the pic...

"In court, Kruidbos testified he was concerned that he potentially could be held liable if information wasn't shared. He said, "all the information is important in the process to ensure its a fair trial."

The defense believes Kruidbos' testimony is relevant because it supports their claim that the state violated rules of discovery.

The FCRA issued a release condemning the decision to fire Kruidbos, saying the public will lose confidence and trust in its state attorneys."

Pushed into a corner, with a lousy case, prosecuters (THE STATE) always resort to this kind of crap.

Crooked as a dogs hind leg.

DaddyO's picture

At the press conference last night GZ's legal team said they were going after Angela Corey for her discovery violations.

How it plays out will be interesting to watch. Will she end up like the prosecutor in the Duke Rape case?

We'll know in the fullness of time.

In the mean time GZ's Legal Eagle in Philly is gonna put the squeeze on NBC for editing the 911 tape to make it seem like he uttered some racial bias.

Sun, 07/14/2013 - 20:20 | 3752826 nmewn
nmewn's picture

I know what Corey will say.

"Hey, we gave them the records its up to them to pull out the data."

Well, no Mzzz.Corey, your IT Director knew of specific images and messages within the records provided to the defense and so did you. The process of discovery is to share all the state knows pertaining to the case because the presumption is innocence, not guilt, of anyone charged with a crime by the state whose resources are vast in comparison to that of the defense.

It was willful misconduct and your IT Director acted in his own self interest to not allow himself to be a bagholder for you...Mzzz.Corey.

And NBC, walking the progressive dog again, stepped in the dogshit...couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of hypocrites.

Kid me not. Anti-firearm citizenism propaganda is getting cheaper by the day as weird as it can sound.

If you like you can tape three clips together and have 90 rounds.

Good one. Best. Never think to tape together three boxes of shells? Then you have 150 rounds, 60 percent better.

The mattering fact is like three magazines for Browning Hi-Power taped together, must firstly disravel tape to give usefulness.

Get your cheap propaganda in order. This low level of cohesion is so embarassing.

Not about, not ever, about safety and security for the people. Only about safety and security for them, the criminal elites, and the maintenance of their hold on power.

They know that ultimately "...It is Their Right, It is Their Duty, To Throw Off Such Government..."

The Four Rs
Rejection: Quit paying, quit obeying.
Revolution: It is inevitable, so prepare, as they are.
Retribution: Is there really any place for these sociopaths and criminals in a restored civil and Constitutional society?!
Restoration: Restore the Constitutional republic.

Cobb County bucked the trend for many years by refusing to allow MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) to run light rail into the county, but over time the southwest, west, and central parts of the county have become increasingly minority, and unfortunately, crime-ridden. Just when we thought the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case was over following Zimmerman’s acquittal, the Obama Administration has taken the steps needed to file federal charges, thus sidestepping the well established, against Zimmerman.  Unidentified sources within the Administration have confirmed that Obama, and Justice Eric Holder at the Department of Justice have filed charges against Zimmerman for “violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights”.

Double jeopardy is an often misunderstood concept in American Law.  The rule merely states that an individual cannot be tried twice for the same crime in the SAME COURT.  Liberal Justice Department officials often charge Americans with crimes from which they have previously been acquitted by filing federal charges on a similar crime in a federal court."

In jail after jacking a sports collectibles dealer selling OJ memorabilia .... which had been sold by 'fiends of OJ' given the stuff to keep it from going to the Goldman family.    That or lost in a tragic burglary.....and OJ was trying to steal it back at gunpoint in NV so he could do the right thing and give it to the Goldman family in payment for the civil judgement against him.   One of those.

Zimmerman?   Sounds like he shot a guy in self defense rather than because the guy was banging his ex-wife.

He also sounds smart enough to leave FL.   There are places where the majority opinion is that he performed a community service.   He should find one.    He seems sharp enough to understand that the rule of law is irrelevent to the entitled protesting outside the courthouse.    There are greener pastures ahead.   Don't look back.

I believe it was the Federal Government that intervened on behalf of trevon martin before a trial had even begun. that's a nice way of saying "it's George Zimmerman's Civil rights that have been violated." by all means "call the President into the courtroom and ask him what he meant when he compared TM to a son he never had." the Federal Case obviously is George Zimmerman vs the Government...not the other way around. this is not to say "go ahead...make my day"...just to say "i don't think you're going to win this one either." and i HATE losing and am not afraid of employing REASON in pursuit of this goal. Here ya go Ned.

He's like an idiot in a clown suit.

"The president’s remarks might have seemed innocuous to civilians, but military law experts say defense lawyers will seize on the president’s call for an automatic dishonorable discharge, the most severe discharge available in a court-martial, arguing that his words will affect their cases.

“His remarks were more specific than I’ve ever heard a commander in chief get,” said Thomas J. Romig, a former judge advocate general of the Army and the dean of the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan. “When the commander in chief says they will be dishonorably discharged, that’s a pretty specific message. Every military defense counsel will make a motion about this.”

"At Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina last month, a judge dismissed charges of sexual assault against an Army officer, noting the command influence issue. At Fort Bragg in North Carolina last month, lawyers cited the president’s words in a motion to dismiss the court-martial against Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair, who is accused of forcing a lower-ranking officer to perform oral sex on him, among other charges.

In Hawaii, a Navy judge ruled last month that two defendants in sexual assault cases, if found guilty, could not be punitively discharged because of Mr. Obama’s remarks. In Texas, a juror was dismissed from a military panel on a sexual assault case after admitting knowledge of the president’s words. In Alexandria, Va., Eric S. Montalvo, a former defense counsel in the Marine Corps who is now in private practice, has cited the president’s words in motions to dismiss two sexual assault cases, one against an Army sergeant and the other against a Navy seaman.

There is absolutely nothing this incompetent "law professor", arrogant clown can't screw up.

Yep, we used to call that "command influence" and now that I'm here in the dreaded private sector, I caution my more rambunctious colleagues to let things play out vs. them having their own personal feeding frenzy.  About 1/4 of the time that works out.

But Augustus is feeling the flexibility to move his muscles.  After all, Billy is on the bully pulpit and is publicly spanking his ... er ... protoge for not going for the gold (their goal).

and the confusion of the sexual assault situation is also fully intended.  Another "crisis" that can be generated to lead to an intended outcome.  Not letting a crisis go to waste, the Bastards are fomenting m v f confusion while allowing other flavours of assault to go un-commented upon.

A target of this is to break the Marine Corps, but that is a thread that is for selected few bastards.  Not the only target.

You say "incompetent law professor" and I can't place myself there.  I'm thinking that Our Dear President's "law professor" time was like his time within the dreaded private sector.  You know, in one of "his" books: "I felt like I was behind enemy lines".

That is, like Sun Tzu, "study the enemy so that you can overcome them without battle."

Methinks that he/his team are seriously good about this.  The "low-information" observer situation also is a part of the situation. "watch me do shiny things with my right hand".

IMHO it was always about gun control.

The incompetent Obama administration used this trial to push their gun control agenda, with the help of the lapdog MSM and professional agitators like Sharpton & Jackson, but as a gun control platform it was poorly chosen - and the incompetent Valerie Jarrett is no Goebbels, even if she probably matches him in ruthlessness.

Massive fail on the part of Obama, again... the picture on the front of Drudge, Zimmerman with a bloody nose, shows the manipulation for what it was and the jury saw through the sham.

Not really.  Obama had a chance here to gain some credibility back...  all he had to do was come out and say, "I want to apologize to america for jumping to a conclusion about Zimmerman's guilt.  At the time I made my comments, I did not have enough information to reasonably form a conclusion about the case.  I think much of america has done the same.  The jury, who knows more about the case than any of us likely ever will, has made its decision and we should honor that decision, subject to any appellate court's ruling.  I urge you all to look in the mirror and hopefully you too can display the humility I have managed to muster.  Again, I have set a bad example and I apologize."

Instead, he couldn't muster an apology (although, impliedly, his omission was an admission of making a mistake) and changed the narrative to gun control, something he's already failed miserably in attempting...  So, not only did he squander a chance to finally win some support, but he managed to lose even more face by changing the topic...  [gun control is a bit naive and innocuous...  let's call it what it will inevitably turn into, gun confiscation].

"But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken."

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??????

Aside from war criminal Bush and war criminal Obama still being out of jail, let us examine just what kind of jury speaketh?

It's Jury Selection, Jury Selection, Jury Selection

I don't mean to sound as if I'm parsing here, but the truth of the matter in these high profile cases, and various insurance-involved cases (malpractice suits, etc.), is that much money and effort goes into precision jury selection.

When I heard the make-up of the jury, all women, all mothers, I feared that Zimmerman would be found not guilty; it seemed the greatest probability given their jury selection.

Personally speaking, the one and only time I finally made it to the point of jury selection (it was a medical malpractice lawsuit, and the majority of the jury members had been selected, but the attorneys were planning on excluding several, so the largest pool of jurors was brought in for voir dire, thirty in all, with the least likely to be selected at the very end of the line, which naturally meant I was number thirty juror possibility [never chosen, 'natch] --- being at the end afforded me the position of being next to the four Jury Selection Consultants [three men and one woman] and overhearing their whispered remarks --- said remarks pointing to the targeting of the blandest people possible, those most likely to never have questioned the status quo!) it was quite the eye-opening experience!

Had this been in earlier times, but in the present tense, and a random cross section of that town been chosen, in all probability Zimmerman would have been justifiably convicted, as he should have been!

Now Zimmerman can pick up and his gun, and no doubt in the future make another attempt against an innocent victim.

Perhaps, like Ernesto Miranda (he of the Mirandizing or Miranda Warning), eventually his karma will catch up with him.

Zimmerman Judge Ran Kangaroo Court Posted 07/12/2013 06:47 PM ET Injustice: There are biased judges, and then there's Debra Nelson, who's presided over what can only be called a kangaroo court in the George Zimmerman trial. The bias of Nelson, Florida Circuit Court judge and a lifelong Democrat, in favor of the prosecution and its efforts to railroad Zimmerman as a racist murderer has been palpable throughout the case. Her actions, which have actively aided the state, could poison jurors and factor into future litigation. Her shameful rulings and behavior, therefore, are worth cataloging, and include: • Suppressing exculpatory evidence recovered from the (double-password-protected) cell phone of Trayvon Martin that reveal deleted texts of the 17-year-old bragging about street-fighting with friends and relatives and photos showing him brandishing guns, gangsta-style. This evidence supports Zimmerman's claim he feared Martin and shot in self-defense.

 • Disallowing Martin's criminal background, including arrests by Miami-Dade school district police for drugs, theft, graffiti and other delinquent behavior. (Martin, in fact, had been suspended from school the week he jumped Zimmerman inside his gated townhouse complex, after police found stolen jewelry and burglary tools inside his backpack.)

Excluding any testimony from audio experts who could definitively ID Zimmerman's voice screaming for help on 911 calls as Martin bashed his head against a concrete sidewalk.

 • Allowing, conversely, the last-minute request of plainly desperate prosecutors to have jurors consider an alternative lesser charge of manslaughter to try to secure some kind of conviction, any kind of punishment, in the complete absence of a sound murder case. • Never sanctioning the prosecution despite Zimmerman's lawyers justifiably filing no fewer than six formal complaints against the state for withholding exculpatory and other evidence from them in violation of discovery rules.

 • Yet repeatedly overruling — at times even reprimanding — Zimmerman's lawyers when they objected to the underhanded tactics of the prosecution.

 • And even, in one of the most bizarre interventions by a judge many court watchers have ever observed in a criminal case, directly grilling defendant Zimmerman not once, but three times about his intentions to personally testify — while scolding his lawyers not to counsel him in what seemed to many to be an attempt by the court to bully him into taking the stand.

Yes, the president took to the airways to voice his opinion when a black man was arrested in what appeared to be an attempt to break into a house, in Massachuesetts I think. Obama accused the police of racial profiling, a charge that later proved false. The president then "made amends" by inviting the police chief to have a beer with him at the White House.

Does that mean  he will be inviting George Zimmerman to the White House for a beer?
