The "European New Normal" Quote Of The Day
Up until now, the best summation of the European response to its ongoing economic depression came from the former president of the Eurogroup council of Eurozone finance ministers, Jean-Claude Juncker and his legendary "When it becomes serious, you have to lie." Today we get another contender for a quote that encapsulates European thinking in the New insolvent Normal, and it comes from Greek PM Antonis Samaras. To wit:
Samaras: "You have to tell people the truth but you have to give them hope as well." #DUP13

And a just as surreal follow up:
Samaras describes unprecedented recession & unemployment in #Greece "If you want to see democracy under pressure, it's here" #DUP13
— Kathimerini English (@ekathimerini) September 16, 2013
And another...
Samaras: "Everyone now talks of Grecovery as they expect Greece to begin recovering next year" #DUP13
— Kathimerini English (@ekathimerini) September 16, 2013
In conclusion:
Samaras: "Greece will stand as European success at the end of all this" #DUP13
