Guest Post: I Will Not Comply

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Matthew May via American Thinker blog,

Like most members of the Congress that passed it and, undoubtedly, the president of the United States who signed it, I have not read the entirety of the ill-named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  Yet there is one aspect concerning that legislation of which I am certain: I will not comply.

I will not comply because I am a free citizen of the United States, not a subject of its government.  I consider non-compliance with this monstrosity and the tens of thousands of pages of regulations that are to be enforced by an unelected bureaucracy, and that have left a gigantic carbon footprint on our environment and the United States Constitution, a duty.

Non-compliance is my executive order, and that order reads in part that I do not recognize any government's claim on my action or inaction in the marketplace, nor upon any personal information I am unwilling to divulge.

I will not submit to a cabal who read George Orwell's 1984 not as a terrifying warning, but as an instruction manual.  Nor will I submit to the dictates of those who attempt to trample the right of free speech of others in the halls of government who are warning us about the looming tyranny.  I refer to those sons of liberty who, as Camus wrote, "are not all legitimate or to be admired. Those who applaud it only when it justifies their privileges and shout nothing but censorship when it threatens them are not on our side."

If (when) the IRS or HHS or any other such entity attempts to extort a tax or fee of any kind for not participating in mandated commerce, they will be met with resistance.  I will not pay any such tax or fee.

I live in Massachusetts, where, once upon a time, a spirit of resistance and independence animated much of the citizenry.  But many here have devolved from the shot heard round the world to sheltering in place.  Not I -- nor many of my fellow Bay Staters, who are outnumbered but undaunted.

Refusing to comply with the dictates of an illegitimate law that is selectively enforced, and from which the privileged few are exempted, is not, in the annals of American history, brave or difficult.  Those who refuse to comply are not barefoot in the snows of Valley Forge, crying out in agony at Gettysburg, or rushing the cockpit of Flight 93.  While there will be consequences to civil disobedience in defiance of oppression, any difficulties can be and will be overcome.

We are, however, drawing a line that the forces of repression, socialism, and tyranny must not cross.  Some might even color the line red.  Yet unlike a certain other, this red line is immovable.  I yield nothing on the plane of freedom.  I will not take any small step that is, in actuality, one giant leap backward to the darkness we thought we had vanquished.

Who is with me?

Look on the bright side, this Obama care act BS just pretty much listed your enemies, anyone who is exempt from Obama care is pretty much a fucking enemy of the state, since trators passing tratorous laws always exempt themselves from its consequences, we have a nice list there of people to throw in jail once this is over.

They are not enough IRS agents to audit every person who refuses to comply with law and does not file a tax return but instead pays the taxes owed.  Passive resistance is to clog the beaucratic pipelines, to demonstrate that they do not have the ability to control, power yes but not the management system.  Sort of like Iraq and Afganistan, power with no governance = chaos.

Nobody has the absolute right answer now, especially the one-size-fits-all kind.  I read today that even in MA AFTER the Boston harbor tea party some colonists wrote to King George in supplication, attempting to end the revolution before it started.  There was division then, ther will always be division.

Things are changing faster now.  Debts are bigger.  Economies are slower.  Growth is at stall speed even with the billions and billions of credits emitted by all central banks.  Jobs are fewer, pay less and work fewer hours.  Tax burdens rise while revenues fall.  Government is the only growth industry.

Answers as to what to do will be self-evident and forthcoming.  I love the example the WWII generation is setting for us in DC this week - FUCK YOU YOU ARROGANT PRICKS!

I am planning on not complying, I haven't had health insurance since I was covered by a previous employer in 2006. I have been lucky so far and had no major scares, but I also understand that I am doing this at my own risk. Isn't that what freedom of responsibility is all about?

One thing I have been wondering, how does .gov plan to force the unemployed/FSA to pay the fine for not having healthcare?

Can't wait to see how that turns out.

Well, Mitt did basically the same thing in Massachussetts. I think it's kinda weird that everyone draws the line here, like this bill means something.

I live afuera so I don't really give a damn what happens now to the US, but I do live in a country with full-fledged socialized medicine and having broken my kneecap a few weeks ago I can't really complain. I'm paying full boat, you understand. But it's not as bad as you'd think.

Hey, Obama's health care law's a pile of hypocritical, self-defeating crap...and just like that, it'll defeat itself. It'll spiral into ruin and the market will take over, without anything ever needing to be done by anybody to stop it. Of course the mandates are BS. But there's nothing in there that's any more unconstitutional than what Mitt did -- or any worse than forcing you to send your kids to school, or vaccinate them, or buy auto insurance, or wear pants when you walk outside, or refrain from smoking a cigarette outside Carl's Jr, or telling you to stop shooting heroin and smoking meth within 500 yards of your local brothel.

You should focus on the evils of the nanny state, not the narrow and relatively stupid and temporary evils of the health care bill.

Yeah Mitt did it, to one state, leaving forty-nine other options for people willing to vote with their feet...  what's interstate about healthcare exactly?  So far as I know, each state licenses their own physicians, nurses, and other health professionals.

Healthcare is not interstate, nor is it commerce. The charade was put on about the individual mandate but there has been no testing, yet, of the fact that the Fed has no authority at all to regulate healthcare or insurance.

Good on the Tea Party Republicans for standing up against the communistical outrage that is Obamacare. They should not give ONE INCH in their refusal to pass a budget or raise the debt ceiling until this law is TOTALLY wiped off the statute books. If that means some pain all roung then GOOD - no pain no gain. The important thing is to prevent deadbeats getting access to healthcare - that is a noble cause which it is worth fighting for every inch of the way.

But this is only a START. The Republicans need to ensure the defunding of ALL socialist programs that are bringing this once great country to it's knees including Medicare, VA, Medicaid and Social Security. These government-run programs are just pandering to people’s laziness and lack of personal responsibility and are totally un-American.

In this country good health is not a birth-right – it is a privelage – and a privilege that should only be available to those who are hardworking, wealthy, and smart enough to pay for their own insurance.

We should not try and emulate socialist hell-holes like Australia, Canada or Scandanavia where every dead-beat can access free public health systems regardless of whether they’ve saved up to pay for it or not.

The US got to be great through people standing on their own two feet and taking responsibility for their own health and well being. Not one dime of my taxes should go towards supporting socialized free health care for those too lazy, poor, old, or stupid to look after themselves.

Medicare in particular is the worst socialist program ever introduced in this country (by another socialist Dem President – Lyndon Johnson in 1965). It’s a single payer government run program funded from taxes paid by you and me – to support old sick people we don’t even know.

Back in the ’60s the GOP fought long and hard to prevent this communistic system becoming law. As Ronald Reagan said at the time the Dems were trying to force this thing through “If you and I don’t stop Medicare then one of these days we are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

George HW Bush Described Medicare in 1964 as “socialized medicine at its worst” and. Same with Barry Goldwater who said: “Having given our pensioners their medical care in kind, why not food baskets, why not public housing accommodations, why not vacation resorts, why not a ration of cigarettes for those who smoke and of beer for those who drink.”

Social Security is another Communist program that needs to be abolished right now. Did you know that the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, accounting for 20.8% of the total budget? Needless to say it was introduced by yet another socialistic Democrat President – Franklin Roosevelt back in the 1930s. And what is ‘social security’ ? Its nothing but a program to take hard-earned money from the likes of you and me to allow lazy old people who didn’t bother to save for their retirement during their working years to live high on the hog.

So good on the Republicans for declaring war on Obamacare. Now I just hope they will see fit to start unwiding the other socialist and communistical atrocities such as social security, Medicare, Medicade and VA – which are also totally unconstitutional and totally un-American.

[Lol. Thanks for the downvotes. But have you been to these "hellholes" like Canada, Scandinavia and Australia? I thought you were joking when you said that until I read the rest. Seriously, I urge you to take a trip to any of those places and injure yourself (I hope you don't injure yourself, but if you do), compare the experience to the US. I've been to all those places. I'm sorry to tell you, they're all a lot nicer places to live than America. Not the communist prison camps you imagine they are. They have all the modern conveniences, and a lot less criminals, and a lot more open space and less garbage on the highways.]

The tax imposed for non-compliance is not legislatively originated, but a judicial decree, which is as unconstitutional and unamerican as you can get. Therefore, I will go to jail before I pay one cent for not complying.

Not to sound all kooky, but I love the concepts upon which this country was founded, and I will not stand by and watch it all wash away with the tide, leaving my children consigned to slavery.

One more time.  The IRS, according to the ObummerCare law, can only get the fine out of your tax refund, if you refuse to pay it.  They can not garnish your wages or seize your bank account or house.  They can not impose criminal or civil penalties or add interest to your nonpayment.

So in 2014 make sure that your withholding is enough so that you owe the IRS in April 2015.  And if you pay quarterly estimates, make sure that those payments are such that you still owe in April 2015.

Sure they will probably send you nasty letters.  They may audit you.  But if enough people do this, it will gum up the works and starve the beast.

Freedom is not free.

This was jammed up our butt.  It is time to take it out and say, Fuck You!

This has been one big train wreck since 2009 when O-Hole went down this path...

From the beginning (and I'm in the healthcare sector) I said Obamacare does nothing to improve healthcare or bring down cost - it's simply a mechanism of control for the govt.  Now five years later - when the focus should have been on freeing up the economy for job growth - we are right back at the starting point.

Whenever I see any article referring to the ACA (Obamacare) as "socialism", I can only conclude that the person who wrote the article either has no clue what socialism means or is somebody's useful idiot.

This program is to socialism what Paris Hilton is to Astrophysics. Not even remotely related.

I'm growing ever more suspicious of anything I read that perpetually makes reference to "founding fathers" or "liberty" or "constitution" when those items are really non issues in the subject at hand. It's sort of like the sappy string section in a bad hollywood movie. the only function it serves is to stir emotion with manipulation because the content cannot stir emotion on it's own.

The problem with Obamacare is NOT that it's Socialism. The problem is that it's NOT Socialism. It's fascism.

Yup. They're all looking for the next "false flag" -- turns out they're the ones manufacturing it. This thing ain't socialism, it's a sop to the insurance companies. My Call For Civil Disobedience Around The “Barrycades” It’s beyond shameful to see Barack Obama disrespect and mistreat our World War II veterans so blatantly. Obama’s political stunt to “shut down” their memorial by barricade is to elicit an angry response to generate bad publicity for people the president uses in his continual blame game. Don’t believe me? Look at the “barricade” at the World War I Memorial: https://twitter.com/McCormackJohn/status/385388192465031168/photo/1   The difference is obvious. There aren’t any World War I veterans alive today to mistreat in a shameful political stunt. He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack. The President is treating our veterans the same way he treated school kids when he cancelled their White House tours. When times called for obvious government belt-tightening, he took it out on kids rather than look for anything that would affect him personally. And while our vets are barricaded from the memorial they built with their heroism, the government “slim down” won’t affect Obama’s golf game or his family’s White House chefs. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are attempting to fund the Veterans Administration and other essential functions, but Democrats are blocking them because they want to make any slim down look as awful as possible in order to deflect from what this whole slim down thing is about, which is their Obamacare train wreck. Good Congressmen are fighting for average middle class Americans to get the same breaks that Obama gave Congress, his pals, union bosses, and crony corporations who financed his campaign and snookered the media into putting him in office. It is a sad day when We the People have to go cap in hand to the president begging him to give us the same relief he gave his friends by fiat. Thank God we have bold leaders willing to fight for those who can’t afford to pay powerful lobbyists to make Obama and Harry Reid listen. Want to know why this whole thing happened? Look at what Obamacare is already doing to our country with health care costs skyrocketing, workers laid off or kicked to part-time, employers shutting down projects, and debt still soaring. See the article linked below. This is what America is up against. And Obama employees who know in your hearts and souls that punishing our veterans is wrong, know that we have your backs when you say “enough is enough” and then allow our vets to gaze upon our memorials that honor America’s finest. This simple act of civil disobedience will galvanize our nation against atrocious political games, and I promise you’ll sleep well tonight. — Sarah Palin We need more "idiots" like Palin in Washignton and less Cass Sunsteins..

oh by the way no human has ever walked on the surface of the moon. no human has ever completely left the earth's atmosphere. the radiation would be too dangerous. it would take a thick layer of lead to protect you. that silly spaceship shown in the apollo program and the suits they wore would not amount to squat. the "apallo" program was nothing but the biggest hoax in recorded history. think about it. in a world where u can hardly take a dump without something going wrong, and we should believe they went to the moon a number of times with no major incidents resulting in death. okee doekee - we believe you dorothy

OT: Odd thing about this guy's home, Massachusetts....

If Mass was a separate country, its student test scores in Science would be 2nd in the world, behind only Singapore....and Mass has more citizens than Singapore.  Must be the baked beans and 'chowda'.

I wonder what states lower the US avg and give grist to Tyler's occasional SAT Score mill?

just shut up and buy health insurance before your stupid ass gets sick and we all have to foot your hospital bill when you drag yourself into the ER. a law that fines people who do not have health insurance is common sense. save your outrage for issues where the government is doing actual things worth of outrage.

Riddle me this. How is it that these medical geniuses have total pricing power over you, with no right to refuse? You go into the hospital, they say "appendectomy," or whatever, and they are allowed to write whatever the fuck they want on the bill? How does that work? And you think the answer to that is...an "insurance" plan, coercively pushed by the government?

How about you blow me and I get to charge you $22,000 for it.

When you need the appendectomy, you're not in a position to negotiate, so yes they can charge whatever they want. The argument you've articulated isn't one against Obamacare so much as it is one against for-profit medicine. With an inelastic product and no leverage on the part of the purchaser, the system is ripe for abuse. If ever there was a place to keep corporations out of, isn't this it?

Obamacare is a bad law because it's a coercive giveaway to the same thieves that broke the system in the first place. The concept of ensuring affordable, available healthcare for all citizens is not bad in and of itself.

Dude, the government is the thief that broke the system. Let's say you and I want to start a hospital because we heard there are profits in that racket. Guess what? According to a federal law (signed by Nixon), other hospitals in the area are allowed to pass judgement on whether they would like some competition or not.

Voila.

A monopoly - any monopoly - produces bad service, bad pricing, or both. Unilateral power to decide what shit costs is not a natural state of affairs. They do this because federal law says they can. the "fix" for this is not another set of federal laws. The fix is to repeal laws.

Somewhere in the process you will make a choice. You do not have the choice not to make a choice. You will make it. Doing nothing is also a choice. What choice will you have? I am an amateur on the subject. Alexander Solzhenitsyn is an expert.

In his Gulag Archipelago, he explains, "During an arrest, you think since you are not guilty, how can they arrest you? Why should you run away? And how can you resist right then? After all, you'll only make your situation worse; you will make it more difficult for them to sort out the mistake.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?

The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! We did not love freedom enough. Every man always has handy a dozen glib little reasons why he is right not to sacrifice himself."

IMO, part of cloward-piven, also a fascist control method.

There will be a way to fight this, as we see it unfold.

First up, many people simply will not be able to pay!

Will we also be reading stories like this: ?

(PA, hometown, USA)

"An IRS SWAT Team today shot and killed all three members of a family said to be unable to comply with the ACA. This brings to 35 the number of IRS SWAT assaults in our state alone this year. This does not include the hundreds of bank account seizures statewide."

I am waiting for the right time to exercise civil disobedience. I have always bought health insurance for my family obamacare doesn't change the fact that  I need health insurance.

However I am furious that so many doctors have instituted fedaral electronic records. The politicians and burecrats making this happen are lower than pond algae.  I will not let government employees read and store my medical records. I will do something about this, just haven't decided what. Any suggestions?

If you take out this paragraph:

"If (when) the IRS or HHS or any other such entity attempts to extort a tax or fee of any kind for not participating in mandated commerce, they will be met with resistance.  I will not pay any such tax or fee."

The post could apply just as well to the Patriot Act and DHS. In fact, it's probably more appropriate in that context. Anyone losing it over the potential legal and bureaucratic overreach of Obamacare has officially taken their eye off the ball.
