Matt Taibbi On The CNBC "Presstitutes"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

The top definition of presstitute according to Urban Dictionary is:

1. presstitute
A member of the media who will alter their story and reporting based on financial interests or other ties with usually partisan individuals or groups.

It has become abundantly clear in recent years that the mainstream media can not be identified as anything other that a collective of mediocre, corporate/government ass-kissing presstitutes. Different media outlets cater to different special interests, but the end result is all the same. MSNBC for example is essentially a straight up PR outlet for the Democratic Party, while Fox News represents the neo-con arm of the Republican Party and the military-industrial complex generally.

CNBC has a special position in the presstitute media hierarchy. They basically defend Wall Street at all costs. The station represents the most important media gatekeeper for the financial oligarch, crony class. The following video is an interview on the daily political talk show Majority Report, hosted by Sam Seder. In this episode, he discusses with Matt Taibbi the recent appearance of Salon’s Alex Pareene on CNBC in which Maria Bartiromo unabashedly presstitutes herself out for Jaime Dimon and JP Morgan in an utterly embarrassing manner.

The clip is a little over 16 minutes, but well worth your time. Sam Seder is pretty hilarious and his rapport with Taibbi is excellent.

So here’s my question for Maria. If all that matters is the bottom line “ex-legal problems” then why did the Feds raid the Silk Road rather than allow them to “settle without admitting guilt?” After all they were a “cash generating machine” too. Take that one on Money Honey.

Their pockets weren't deep enough to make sufficient contributions to the right campaigns, to employ an army of lobbyists, and to have enough cash left over after all that to pay the slap-on-the-wrist fine that would have kept them out of jail.

Squawk box has become unwatchable with the addition of Sorkin. Becky Quick is insufferable with her faces and mannerisms... she just gets worse to have to look at over time. Kernan tries to hold it all together, but they've tried to make this production "entertainment", more and more meaningless banter and bleating in a vain attempt to "shine the spotlight" on the aforementioned ebullient personalities.

Becasuse it costs money to have a Financial channel?  I am not in favor of 'presstitutes' but you're sounding pretty dumb asking for something with nobody paying for it. You think it would be better if it were a public, ie, government institution? Yeah, we'd certainly get the unadulterated truth then....

Ps. Can you think about a channel that tells people how banks are robbing your money with their phony products? People might start to question why the hell do we need a complex too big to fail banking system when they should be just lending out money and market making. Trust that the money that we're getting paid with actually will hold its value. Trust that your pension will be there when you get there. Trust that the public school system will actually provide your child with an education. Trust, Trust and more trust.

There is less and less trust these days in anything and it is something that is becoming increasingly rare in this country.

That fact that CNN's ratings have sunk to new lows just shows that the people are increasingly not buying what the presstitutes are selling.

Whores generally provide a private service to a customer that once the transaction is complete it no longer has any outside effect barring physical or moral concerns. In this sense, it's a closed loop outcome. What these "pressitutes" accomplish is FAR from a closed loop outcome and their actions have huge effects on other parties outside the "bedroom". What they point to, < more than just cronyism, corruption, servitude to a paymaster> is that the nSSA/uSSA is a FAILED MERITOCRACY.

The democratic idea>>

that your age, class or race is no bar to your future success if you're smart, work hard and set out to accomplish your goals, MERIT will see you succeed...... NO LONGER APPLIES, so you needn't apply either.

I was lucky enough in the early days to have people step up and encourage me and it still means so much to me.  I never wanted to be a cookie-cutter writer, but I wasn't sure that anyone would ever grasp what I was trying to do.  Knowing that at least few people get your message makes all the difference.

Obviously she's a very different kind of writer than me.  She's graceful and a pleasure to read.

Believe it or not, one of my guiding forces in writing is Dr Suess.  His books are scripts that can tranform even the most unimaginative parents into rock stars for their kids.  With my writing, I always secretly hope that someone will read it out loud to a friend.  I know, nuts.

 Hey CD:

I left you a quick "how are you doing" message on yesterday's article you penned. I hope all is well. I had a old time mentor starting out; he gave me a bit of advice. He said "...watch what people do, not what they say, and... everything comes down to money for 99.9% of the people in society, so follow the money."

Naive, 20-something and starting out I was a bit skeptical of the last half of his advice. Over the years however - and especially in today's historical environment where anything goes - I’ve come to realize just how accurate his advice really was.

In closing, I am always amazed at what well educated, seemingly intelligent people will do and say to spin a situation, story or bullshit each other. Maybe it's the internet populating tens of thousands of spin stories each day that has caused people to lose all sense of honor, integrity and character these days.  Who knows.  But, it's fun listening to them "whore" themselves day after day.  Good 'ol Maria  B., from hat-check girl to mainstream media - of which, without her big mouth and ass - no one would probably ever notice she exisited (not that anyone does today with her ratings).

Clearly society (and "Big-Ass Bartiromo" ["BAB"] for short) have all come to a point where rubbing elbows, defending the likes of Pretty Boy and having a PR photo taken with sthe o-called power brokers at banquets and luncheons, is much more important to their star power, credibility and weak character (think, advertising dollars) then (at the very least) staying neutral on matters like these.

In closing, I really liked the comment where BAB says JPM is making more money then ever. Well hell, sure they are, and so did the Mafia -- both of who consistantly broke the law and put up their middle finger at society and law enforcement the entire time. Welcome to the New America I guess. By the way, a good friend of ours plays golf with Ken Lewis from time to time. Kenny boy is alive and well and enjoying his millions without any worries I am told.

You take care my friend.  All the best to your family too...  AR

CNBC and the girls who whore for Wall-Street speculators, skimmers and masters of fraud are basically a complete and utter propaganda arm of the current Wall-Street crooks. No, this is not a market, it is a deeply manipulated money transfer machine. Hint, the money goes from workers, small business and the poor, straight into the pockets of JPM, Goldman and a selection of well connected hedge funds. The Fed IS a hedge fund, that is now admitted.  I urge everyone to examine the figures on income disparity and the growing trend for all income gains to go to a select minority. An NO this minority is not creating new businesses, not coming up with new produts, producing needed resources, NOPE, they are simply trading on NSA provided insider information, and insider information the financial elites sheare with each other. The there is congress. where insider trading is a legal activity, according to the laws the congress people abide by, they can pass law and change regulations and before hand can take long positions that will benefit from the laws they write. Imagine, this is 100% legal! And the feds are going to throw this Slik Roas guy in jail for fucking ever. Why, because the elites were not getting their cut of the action!

Obama needs to attack Syria and get that ball rolling, distract the people, because the proclaimed economic recovery, YES, even today they are claiming America is in full economic recovery, that fake recovery is really going to sink into a deeper depression on Main Street, while Wall-Street keeps cashing in.

Arrest anyone who is not lining the pockets of the 1%! Wage war on any nation that refuses a US corporate take over and being under the thumb of the Dollar as reserve currency. Syria, Iran and Russia. Obama and the war machine is taking them down in that order. This will provoke World War three. I used to think we would have to attack Russia to get a world war, but now I believe the US attack on Iran will trigger it, because Putin is drawing the line at Iran's border. He has said the USA will not get to inavde Iran for free. I believe him. He sees that Russia is on the neocon and banker hit list.

Hard times are coming. Own gold if you can. Own real assets that are of use in daily living. You can't eat dollar bills, that ass wipe is heading for worthless status. King Dollar is in danger.

The way I see it is if we don't take a stand now, it's never going to happen. The gates will have been closed, society will have been completely polarized with the false paradigm between the reds and the blues. Right now both parties are pointing their collective fingers at the tea party, which says to me they are both pointing at anybody who opposes government.

When this shit all crashes and burns they have a scapegoat, and the average American retard will buy it lock stock and barrel. They will roll over and gladly accept whatever policies big government throws at them, because it's in their best interest. Hell if both parties agree that a group of rabble rousers are bad then it must be true right?

Now is the time, if we don't we are fucked, our children are fucked and their children are fucked.

Of course, it's generally the ethical minority that generates the resistance, but these days, with all the nasty "tools" gumnut has at it disposal, any uprising is going meet some pretty hard retaliation.

Not sayin' it's impossible, just that it's likely to be ugly when it finally comes, which it will.

Well said.

This is one of the main reasons that ever since Aug 5 2011, when the US ratings were downgraded that the US stock markets (Wall Street enabled) have been rising while all the metrics related to Main street (unemployment, inflation, low to middle class home prices, the wider economy) continues to struggle and will continue to remain so. But, can the people revolt? Occupy Wall Street movement died a natural death as people are so worried about themselves personally that they cannot be bothered to collaborate to fight for a bigger social cause. http://dubaibanker.blogspot.ae/2011/08/major-shift-in-textbook-economics...

What QE has done, is to allow sufficient time for the big boys (banks and others) to plan themselves, allow them to collect huge piles of cash on their balance sheet (with low bond rates) and thirdly, fire so many employees that their profitability has risen than before. There is always method to the madness.

Attacking foreign countries may reduce unless it directly helps US, whether in securing oil (which is not needed any more) or creating demand for military/defence equipment. Drones are not helping but making things worse with anti American sentiment quite high. Debt rise is not helping too, with American aid to foreign nations at its lowest. Middle Eastern nations had to chip in to support Egypt and Bahrain which is a slap in the face to the US and its aid propaganda. China and India dont need aid and Russia will not accept it. In Africa, China is miles ahead in aid over the last decade as is China across Asia. Latin America and Russia are also in closer orbit to China thanks to mutual business collaborations. China just announced an investment bank for developing Asian nations. http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/815388.shtml

IMF and World Bank can no longer be used as US tools.

We all await a US debt collapse but until that happens (which by the way is not in any nation's interest) will be prolonged as long as possible and by then US people will get used to it and adapt or leave western countries for greener pastures or alter their skill sets. Thousands are giving up US citizenships and many are moving to Asia along with their business ventures thus creating more employment. Singapore and HK along with Malaysia and Thailand are better than 10 years ago in terms of foreign ventures creating local emplolyment. Free zones are being created on a monthly basis in Asia and guess who is coming?

In the US, unfortunately, people will keep suffering and as US banks keep getting thrown out of China and Russia and India etc, they will be unable to participate in profits or growth which will hurt the US economy even more in the decade ahead. US persons must move whether to Texas or North Dakota or to Asia where the boom is still in its infancy stages. But not everyone, will be able to make this transition and the remainder will be left fighting for food and basics!

No savings and no job with lots of debt is indeed a big quagmire!

Television is entertainment! Many people want it to be something else, but it isn't, it is controlled and guided to do `someone's` bidding, a tool to effect the outcome `someone` wants. Financial shows are reality TV shows, all shows have a script and a director, (And a very nice salary, plus expenses), If you don't follow the script and take your direction from the director, you will be replaced, by another Actor who knows what is expected from them and wants the `nice` salary, plus expenses for themselfs.

Why so hard on poor Maria, save some outrage for Bart Simpson, if you like to exercise your emotions in response to the things you see on your TV please be Democratic and evenhanded in your responses, they are both `Entertainers`equally valuable as objects to stimulate laughter or outrage,,, relax a bit you'll be happier and live longer, get a real life and become obsessed with Paris Hilton or a celebrity baby, or something,,join modern life,,it's great, there are hundreds of millions of us over here now and the welcome mat is out for YOU!!!

8 corporations own every single U.S. Media outlet - 8, whether it's a network, cable company, newspaper, magazine, radio station, etc.

And then there's public broadcasting, which has also whored itself out to the corpocracy (NPR's Marketwatch; PBS and its plethora of whoredom, from Suze Ormann telecasts to Nightly Business Report).

They are all whores of special interests, rather than anything REMOTELY APPROACHING OBJECTIVE OBSERVERS & REPORTERS OF FACTS. Some have a weird hybrid loyalty to the corpocracy & the state, but this is unquestionably due to the fact that the state is now a whore of the corpocracy, so there's that...

Anyone who has traveled to Europe knows the truth, immediately & profoundly, of that which I just stated.

This is a mock-u-script I wrote demonstrating this back a few years in the wake of Jimmyjam Cramer's "Bear Stearns is Fine" glorious moment:

________________________

Now on ABC World News Nightly’s Money Segment (sponsored by Charles Schwab):

Lester Holt: Stocks lost a little momentum today, and bonds sold off, too. For more on this, we’re bringing in our resident Wall Street & Financial expert, James Cramer, to help us understand what is going on.

Thanks for joing us, Jim.

James Cramer: Good to be on, Lester. Thank you.

Lester Holt: What is happening out there, Jim?

James Cramer: Basically, this is a non-event. The economy is firing on all cylinders now, and Bernanke totally nailed it with his ’60 Minutes’ appearance, where he totally like convinced everyone, and for good reason given his track record of total success, that he is going to make sure we grow GDP at about 63% this year, and we’ll have a budget surplus within 6 months, on top of all that.

Lester Holt:. So today’s selling was a little pre year end profit taking?

James Cramer: Exactly, Lester. Just buy the fuc…err…I think everyone agrees that there’s some tax planning and other dynamics that were the theme today, but this is one strong market, set to explode higher, based on the most solid economic fundamentals that we’ve ever seen, or have seen in at least 18 days.

Lester Holt: That’s great news! So maybe I should think about picking up some cheap JC Penny or Netflix stock tomorrow? Haha!!

James Cramer: Exactly, Lester. Or Zynga. Or Crocs. Or Seagate. These are the stocks you want to be in. Just buy the fucking dip, okay?

Lester Holt:  Pardon me, and I apologize to the viewers, but we seem to be having some audio and technical problems…thanks for being on, Jim Cramer.

James Cramer: (in a still very audible, non-technically impaired voice): Look man, strong hands to weak hands. Sheeple shearing time, okay? There is no way these shitbag stocks on this fucking infected festering udder of a cow’s tit market are remotely justified at even half these valuations, okay? I got mistresses and shit, and I got a bad nose candy habit..I got kids in private school, and baby needs a new pair of shoes, and New York is fucking expensive, you know what I mean, and in fact, I’m jonesing for some blow right now becau….{screen fades to black}

Lester Holt: Okay everyone, that was James Cramer, and we’re obviously having some technical problems. Now a message from TD Waterhouse.

The press is largely progressive and as such has not been hesitant in supporting the loss of individual freedoms to supposedly benefit the collective. They, like most others invested in this mentality, see the power that can be derived from participating in the leadership of such ideologies, but also have seen the results of resistance to it, so are firmly in the camp of the "winning" side. Conservatives as well as liberals see and acknowledge that we are at or past the tipping point of government dependency. The sequester and government shut down are used to drive this home. The liberals largely embrace this fact as they believe the world would be a better place if everyone worked for the government and were supplied all of our daily needs (as prescribed) by same. Conservatives see it quite the opposite and always have as well. It may well be too late for those who see the disaster at hand but there will NEVER be a better time to stand and I support anyone who will, even if they are a politician. The media has to be our main focus as they determine everything. We have to boycot them as well as call them out at every chance. They must be marginalized much in the sameway as they have done us.

Fox News represents the neo-con arm of the Republican Party and the military-industrial complex generally.

Funny, it seems to me there was a brief time in its genesis when it didn't have that sharp neocon stank. Or, maybe I just woke the fuck up. Dunno. Seems that right around the time Rove started oozing around the place is when it started. Then, every 5 seconds there was a retired general that was a staff expert or some shit....then Newts ass tried for a comeback and that fat fuck governer whatshisname and that shitty hick band he'd work into his show. A fucking circus. I just had to split. Too much bullshit. It's almost like its entire mission was to hook in the real conservative audience and swing em left. I even recall sensing that some of the news people seemed to be resisting what they were saying...like they weren't totally with whatever they were saying. Like someone had a gun on them.
But in any case.....this brings us back to neocon rino "programming". I yell at the tube when Fox is on just as much as CNN. I see no difference ultimately.

and this:

ZH is being unfairly slanderous to prostitutes. They are a much more honorable profession than congressmen. Plus they don't have control of the federal reserve or start wars.

I haven't watched much of CNBC since the dotcom bust, and now I remember why.  What a sickening fake news channel they have become.  There is no integrity there at all.  These TBTF banks would have all been wiped out in the mortgage crisis had it not been for the Fed's free money and taxpayer bailouts.  Now we get to hear propaganda about how smart they are, as they blatantly break laws and run the country into the dirt.  End the Fed and 99% of this shit ends.

> " If all that matters is the bottom line “ex-legal problems” then why did the Feds raid the Silk Road rather than allow them to “settle without admitting guilt?”

The High Priests of The Holy and Eternal Church of the Almighty FRN are allowed to rape, rob, disenfranchise and kill the rest of us with impunity. Unwashed heathen like the Dread Pirate Roberts will be thrown in the deepest dungeon with trumped up charges piled on his head for the sin and crime and trying to escape from surveillance as well as the Mortal Sin of profiting without providing a kickback...I mean, an offering, to the Holy Church.

Maria's, and the rest of the presstitutes', job is officially understood as "High Priest Fluffer", the goddam whores.

I blocked CNBC from my browser. Haven't had to get pissed of at myself (as much) since.

There is not enough time to waste on CNBC/Goldman Sachs. They are out of business as far as I'm concerned.

The Federal Reserve Bank gangsters, Wall Street gangsters, Too Big To Fail banking gangsters, along with Maria Bartiromo and the corrupt Main Stream Media, are all part of a vast RICO (Racketeering In Corrupt Organization) enterprise. Any jury of 12 Americans could see this in a RICO prosecution of the above gangsters.

The above gangsters would all have had their day in court and been sentenced to the appropriate punishment, if found guilty, were it not for the fact that the US Justice System is also totally corrupt. Their crimes were real, are real and are continuing and the victims of their crimes are real. That is why I have written the following:

"The Unconstitutional Federal Reserve Bank's crimes are not a victimless crime."

"The TBTF banking gangsters crimes are not victimless crimes."

"The Wall Street gangsters crimes are not victimless crimes."

I think these quotes should become a mantra as a MASS PUBLIC CHANT in response to the ongoing criminality of the Wall Street gangsters, TBTF banking gangsters and the US Attorney General's refusal to investigate and prosecute these gangsters and their pervasive and ongoing criminal enterprises. I think it important to apply the appropriate label of "gangster" to them, though politically protected and fawned over by their wholly owned media "presstitutes", they are still gangsters and nothing more.
