Obama "Prepared To Negotiate" (After Government Reopens), Says This Time "Wall Street Should Be Concerned"

Tyler Durden's picture

In an interview with CNBC's John Harwood, Obama once again shows why the polarization in Congress is at record levels. In a brief: he said he is "exasperated", and that the shutdown is "entirely unncessary" but adds that he is (finally?) prepared to negotiate, however only after he gets his way namely after the government is reopened. And another important talking point: Obama added that while gridlock in D.C. is nothing new, "this time I think Wall Street should be concerned." It is unclear how that statement makes any sense in light of Obama's right hand senator Chuck Schumer telling the man who is really in charge, Ben Bernanke, to get to work. Unless of course, Obama is now angling for a "concerning" market crash, which sends the Dow down by 20% like in the summer of 2011, and Obama can tell the stunned public "I told you so."

Additionally, it wouldn't be an Obama theatrical presentation without the usual solid dose of scapegoating and blaming: "When you have a situation in which a faction is willing to default on U.S. obligations, then we are in trouble.... If we get into the habit where one party is allowed to extort, ... then any president who comes after me we be unable to govern effectively." The good news: we have confirmation that there will be presidents after Obama.

Some other highlights:

Obama would not comment on who he's likely to nominate to succeed Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke.

"Ben's still there's; he's doing a fine job," he said. The ultimate nominee would have to keep an eye on inflation and employment, in keeping with the Fed's dual mandate, the president said.

On Obamacare, the president's most significant legislative accomplishment, Obama said that despite certain polls showing it was unpopular with specific segments of the population—namely white people—the law would ultimately be accepted by the population at large.

Tenets of the bill are popular among "all races" the president said. "The majority of the people who will be helped by the ACA will be white," he said.

Seems like Obama is channeling Lyndon Johnson but is doing a piss-poor job of doing so.

If the Republicans really wanted to put Obama in his place regarding the Affordable Care Act, all they'd have to do is mention the fact that it requires nothing of pharmaceutical companies.

Prescription drugs are perhaps the largest percentage of the cost of healthcare. But there are no price caps on the cost of these drugs. Some drugs are marked up 10,000%. That's clearly gouging. The Europeans don't pay that much. In fact, no country in the world pays that much...except for the United States.

Get used to the confusion. The further the US slides into economic and financial abyss, the more it resembles the first days of the Weimar Republic. Obama was right when he said the US "is not a banana republic". He truly meant that. What he didn't elaborate on further is what type of republic the US actually has become. The only other example for the type of republic we witness here is the Weimar Republic of post WW1 Germany. The US has overextended itself in the wars of Afghanistan and Iraq. The US is broke and needs to find ways to repay its debt. Obama is powerless and in a sense meaningless to the process. The ultimate proof is the government shutdown which is just another domino in a long line of dominos that fall when a former empire dies.

The outcome will be that government either defaults by way of hyperinflating out of debt & liabilities or by way of debt restructuring and massive deflation. At some point there will be war as the empire tries to maintain its status but gets challenged by other powers due to a lack of credibility and debt exposure. This is not bullshit, this is what will happen and how it's going down. There's no safe ground inside the US when default occurs. Living in Weimar Germany was not a pleasure.

Re:  The only other example for the type of republic

There's also banana republics.

Banana republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We export debt.

Banana republic is a political science term for a politically unstable country whose economy is largely dependent on the export of a single limited-resource product, such as bananas. It typically has stratified social classes, including a large, impoverished working class and a ruling plutocracy that comprises the elites of business, politics, and the military.[1] This politico-economic oligarchy controls the primary-sector productions and thereby exploits the country's economy.[2]

"When you have a situation in which a faction is willing to default on U.S. obligations, then we are in trouble...” —Barack Obama

One of James Madison’s primary contributions to the Constitution was provisions to limit the influence of factions. This president is nothing but a faction. He represents, not America, but a socialist faction tied closely to the unlimited balance sheet of the Federal Reserve.

They thought they were choosing Obama…the black voters, and the majority of Hispanics, environmentalists, homosexuals, feminists, public union members, abortionists and clueless leftists of every stripe.

But Obama was only the cutout advertisement outside the door.

Inside were the ruling factions: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and their entourage from Big Pharma to Big Oil to the military-war industry and every Fed favorite.

You wanted gay marriage, but also got bankers wiping out savers to become obscenely rich. You wanted more women, blacks and Hispanics appointed to key positions, but you got Fed policies destroying small business and good paying fulltime jobs in the private sector.

You voted for Obama? You got Lloyd Blankfein.

The Founders took pains to keep factions from seizing control of the government (specifically detailed in Madison’s Federalist No. 10). But the Founders didn’t prepare for a calamity like the Federal Reserve.

James Madison argued and planned for a republic form of government because a democracy, he said, would enable special interest factions to control the government with “improper or wicked projects” (and in this, he actually listed “a rage for paper money”).

With a republic, powerful factions would be less likely to gain control than in a democracy… “less apt to pervade the whole body of the Union than a particular member of it...”

The Founders despised democracy as a form of government because a majority of the people, or factions joined together to comprise a majority, could be misled to override the best interests of the common good, i.e., a faction such as Obama’s pro-welfare constituency aided by a supportive media and corrupted political parties giving the impression that the people as a whole favor the contrived-majority policies.

But, coupled with his distaste for democracy, Madison did issue a warning against corruption dangers in a republic: “men of factious tempers, of local prejudices, or of sinister designs, may, by intrigue, by corruption, or by other means, first obtain the sufferages, and then betray the interests, of the people.”

“Betrayal” comes down hard on us as many members of Congress and a President deliver their loyalties to the “wicked” factions and betray the very citizens whom they had sworn to support – waiting to impose on the American people full-scale socialism in the form of a money laundering scam that not only wipes out liberty and the American middle class but the availability of America’s exemplary health care advancements   with Obamacare.

The new Americans came to these shores to escape the tyranny of the European monarchies. But American prosperity in its first decades was too much for the European factions to resist. And the Warburgs, Kuhn Loebs, and the Rothschilds came to take it.

And they did.

Corrupted political parties, a prostitute media and a bought Congress have given the banker faction almost universal control.

The welfare state may think Harry Reid works when he forced the government to shut down to save Obamacare. But his real masters are the bankers who own the Fed. And it is their policies that destroy jobs and culture, hold people down on welfare, perpetuate urban ghettos, bankrupt cities, destroy businesses and savers and promote war.

In short, the bankers use the factions that elect and support the Harry Reids and the Obamas to tighten their control on the nation and to destroy it as a republic…like a squid tightens the tentacles on a diver’s air hose.

'...any President who comes after me will be unable to govern effectively...,' said Obama. Perhaps this person needs to show more respect for Presidential history, and debate, particularly when confronting and defeating the international financiers who owe no loyalty to any land, eg the likes of JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and their known closest associates at home, and abroad.

Not long after a lawyer agent of Britain's financial banking dynasty Rothschild blackmailed President Wilson into allowing the Federal Reserve Board to re-establish its dominance in the USA, President Wilson lamented that no further independent political discourse or action would be allowed in the USA, as those who issued the credit would dominate proceedings, for their profit.

This is why the banks were bailed out, despite the rule of law as it applies to every other company and person in the USA.

This is why the un-Federal no-Reserve Board owned by private shareholders mostly residing abroad can dictate terms to any President when push comes to shove, and the smiley mask of a cheery salesman slips to reveal the monstrous appetite of the insatiable debt money masters.

Obama is an educated fool, and increasingly a useful idiot, self-evidently.

I cannot blame brain-washed Obama, the private person.  The last President who vowed to rid the cancer of 'secret societies' corrupting the USA and declared his support for a free Press speaking truth to power was ... President Kennedy. We know how the international forces working to dominate the USA settled their differences with him.

Obama has two daughters, plus skeletons in his own closet - making him an easy target for blackmail and intimidation.

No more foreign entanglements, no more usury, purveyed by international financiers with their jackboot on the world. May I recommend the following comments for those who wish to get back to the future:

Sam Adams and many other great statesmen in the world down through the centuries have often said that there will be a great reckoning: the people vs the private banks.

Re:  get back to the future

Unfortunately for you idealists large organizations don't gracefully shrink in size.

Plus, there are really just way too many extroverts talking (and talking and talking) and making deals, who need large organizations to cover their manipulative bullshit.

What we REALLY need is not "great statesmen" to tell us about banks.   We need "great statesmen" to explain to the introverts how to keep the extroverts from coning the dumbasses with bullshit.

The key to all this is bullshit.

I am a practical person, and pragmatic. Introverts need only passive resistance; get out of the system as much as possible; refuse to excuse the status quo.  That is how they assist those who are bolder. Only 3% fought in the War of Independence. Others assisted  in other ways. Timid types are rarely grateful, and always look for someone else to lead them, take the hits.

Most people are body bags in waiting, according to the thinking of aggressors.

Introverts can help by passive resistance. Do not excuse or apologise for the status quo. Support anyone bolder who leads the way...instead of whine about being 'introvert'.

Beware of the woolf in sheep's clothing. Many introverts are like that. Britain's Fabian Society in particular.

It is indisputable that AIPAC and the zionist lobby is the biggest political force in the USA, dragging us into their regional wars, against the will of most Americans and most people in the world.

I would add that American jews and Israelis have no more influence over these issues than other ordinary people, as it is the money power that dictates. EG, an Israeli named Mordechai Vannunu is still in jail long after his original sentence after he was lured to Paris and kidnapped by Mossad, following his revelation to a zionist owned newspaper (Murdoch's Sunday Times) that Israel had an illegal nuclear weapons programme.

The people vs the private banks. The sooner the better for most people, in my opinion.

I object most strenuously to O'bomba playing the race card. '...most white people ...'. So, does he class Senator Ted Cruz as white, and ignore his integrity as an American of hispanic descent, and great lawyer who has fought foreign intervention in U.S. affairs, and most recently points out the flaws in O'bombas most 'significant legislative achievement' which will cause more poverty, but profit the health insurance companies, mostly owned ultimately by foreigners of white skin, and no loyalty to any land of any creed, color or religion.

It is obscene for anyone who pledged allegiance to the Constitution to play group against group, and worst of all when it is done by the color of one's skin, regardless of one's personal and professional origins and integrity.

"...the Supreme Court handed down..."??????????????????

The Supreme Court said that it was Constitutional.  Nothing more nothing less.  They did not draft the leftistlation nor did they say that it was a good idea.

They would also rule that pissing on a gazillion dollar pile of cash and then tossing it into the incinerator was also Constitutional.  Their job begins and ends there.

Far too many talking heads and Congressvermin have droned on that the Supreme Court approved the law...as if that gives it some cache or moral legitimacy or mandate.  Congress could (and should) overturn it (if the wishes of a majority of the people they purportedly represent still means anything), and then what?  The Supreme Court would wade in and say, "No, you can't do that"??  SCOTUS has ZERO place in the debate at this point.  Citing them is an indication that the citer either has no clue or is a fucking lying thief who is getting ready to pick your pocket.

Congress, on the other hand did craft and pass this, but PLEASE do remember that they did not read it, and that Nancy famously said that "we have to pass it before we can see what's in it."  If you agree with that logic, and if you are not a completely duplicitous hypocrite, then I have a contract that you need to sign.  You can read it after you sign it.  Game?  Didnt think so, so please bugger off.

I am sorry to inform you that the Bank of England is pre-eminent in this matter.

The Dodd-Frank Bill included some small print by which the FDIC and Bank of England dictate that depositors' money will be confiscated if a systemically important bank fails, eg as in Cyprus.
The counter party of derivatives will be paid; everyone else is an 'unsecured creditor', including depositors and shareholders.
That clearly includes public funds on deposit by towns, cities, states.

Reality: the privately owned Federal Reserve Board under the direction of Britain and the world's pre-eminent bank dynasty Rothschild has the power for the Bank of England to dictate terms to the USA.

Which is why Lloyd Blankfein and Jamie Dimon are so very confident, despite multiple law suits for fraud.

Good on the Tea Party Republicans for standing up against the communistical outrage that is Obamacare.  They should not give ONE INCH in their refusal to pass a budget or raise the debt ceiling until this law is TOTALLY wiped off the statute books.  If that means some pain for governement workers etc. then GOOD - they are nothing but leeches anyway.  The important thing is to prevent deadbeats getting access to healthcare - that is a noble cause which it is worth fighting for every inch of the way.

But this is only a START. The Republicans need to ensure the defunding of ALL socialist programs that are bringing this once great country to it's knees including Medicare, VA, Medicaid and Social Security. These government-run programs are just pandering to people’s laziness and lack of personal responsibility and are totally un-American.

In this country good health is not a birth-right – it is a privelage – and a privilege that should only be available to those who are hardworking, wealthy, and smart enough to pay for their own insurance.

We should not try and emulate socialist hell-holes like Australia, Canada or Scandanavia where every dead-beat can access free public health systems regardless of whether they’ve saved up to pay for it or not.

The US got to be great through people standing on their own two feet and taking responsibility for their own health and well being. Not one dime of my taxes should go towards supporting socialized free health care for those too lazy, poor, old, or stupid to look after themselves.

Medicare in particular is the worst socialist program ever introduced in this country (by another socialist Dem President – Lyndon Johnson in 1965). It’s a single payer government run program funded from taxes paid by you and me – to support old sick people we don’t even know.

Back in the ’60s the GOP fought long and hard to prevent this communistic system becoming law. As Ronald Reagan said at the time the Dems were trying to force this thing through “If you and I don’t stop Medicare then one of these days we are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

George HW Bush Described Medicare in 1964 as “socialized medicine at its worst” and. Same with Barry Goldwater who said: “Having given our pensioners their medical care in kind, why not food baskets, why not public housing accommodations, why not vacation resorts, why not a ration of cigarettes for those who smoke and of beer for those who drink.”

Social Security is another Communist program that needs to be abolished right now. Did you know that the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, accounting for 20.8% of the total budget? Needless to say it was introduced by yet another socialistic Democrat President – Franklin Roosevelt back in the 1930s. And what is ‘social security’ ? Its nothing but a program to take hard-earned money from the likes of you and me to allow lazy old people who didn’t bother to save for their retirement during their working years to live high on the hog.

So good on the Republicans for declaring war on Obamacare. Now I just hope they will see fit to start unwiding the other socialist and communistical atrocities such as social security, Medicare, Medicade and VA – which are also totally unconstitutional and totally un-American.

Obamacare: The Gift To Insurers That Will Keep on Giving"

Asking exactly why Obamacare was structured like this is another way to see that the law is really a gift to insurers hidden in the gaudy wrapping of altruism. That's because the answer to that critical "why" question is simple: the law was written by the insurance industry.......

But don't be fooled by the Democratic talking points and Obama administration reports which insinuate that the "until" part is just some nightmarish fantasy that will never materialize. It isn't a fantasy, because until the law fundamentally changes to both create elements of a single-payer system and truly disempower the insurance middlemen, Obamacare will never be fundamentally about health care. It will be mostly about private health insurance. And those are two very different things.

And for good measure, in MA, "RomneyCare" has ensured its is the state with the highest premiums in the country.

The system is not without its flaws. Premiums remain high in Massachusetts. In fact the state has the highest individual market premiums in the country, according to the non-partisan Kaiser Foundation. Currently, per capita health care spending in the state is expected to nearly double between now and 2020- from between $10,000 and $12,000 (the current cost) to $17,872- if there is no intervention, according to figures provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts.
