Today I got passed by five large box trucks and five unmarked police type cars all with sirens screaming and lights flashing. I've never seen this type of box truck emergency vehicle before.

I am not making any general judgment on what was or was not done intelligently & reasonably by law enforcement, because the video above clearly shows, at minimum, what reasonable people can agree is a very volatile situation in a sensitive geographic area, for the most obvious of reasons.
However, it does seem like it's at least possible this woman freaked out, for whatever reason (maybe the added adrenaline of having nearly a dozen officers draw weapons on you with your baby in the car would panic most women even further), and ended up shot to death despite not specifically intending to do any harm to anyone (there are moments in the video where it's clear as day that she could have run over more than one LEO if that was her intent - they were a foot away from her front bumper).
Ok, let's admit we all have fantasies doing this but none of us would ( I hope) do it with a child inside the car. Therefore, this has to be someone who has serious mental problems and is probably on some crazy Pharmaceuticals. Or maybe her EBT card quit working.

Yes, that would be the rational thing to do in such a situation. But I have many times seen people (especially women --- and don't downvote me, you know it's true) do the damnedest, most idiotic things due to sheer blind panic. The screaming thing, in particular, really drives me crazy --- just WHAT do you women think that screaming is going to accomplish? DO SOMETHING instead!

Look at the photo at Foxnews.com of the front of the car as they surround it. No way that that Infiniti did much more than bump the barricade. No broken head lights, a barely dented hood, hell the center name plate is still attached. Also, no way it crashed into the totaled police cruiser, that no doubt was the result of a chase cruiser involved with another cruiser or another vehicle.
Also, in the photo at foxnews.com the windows are up and there are five officers with pistols drawn pointed right at the car. No broken windows with an officer 30" with a pistol pointed at your head? Somethings up here. Unless she's waving a pistol at them, there should be one really pissed off women in cuffs vs. a dead one.

But hey, modern traffic engineers (who are apparently as short-sighted, incapable and fallible as any other kind of central planner) rarely let practicality, much less reality, get in the way of their little pet theories and fantasies.
If you drive in a country where traffic circles are exteremly common like in the UK and where people therefore know how to use them properly, they're great, much better than having to sit waiting forever for a stoplight. I exempt France and Italy because I hear they are total idiot drivers.
Again, like all typically arrogant and procrustean central planners though, these traffic engineering idiots refuse to take into account LOCAL CONDITIONS when trying to force their one-size-fists-all designs in places and situations where they are NOT appropriate.
Just as with, for example, our idiotically short 3 second traffic lights on 45 mph city streets in Anchorage Alaska --- "according to established (California) standards", as I was told --- despite the fact that those roads are ice-covered and dangerously slick for almost half of the year.
Oh, I'm not saying that some traffic engineers aren't idiots. I've seen many examples of idiotic choices. It's just that when one is dealing with drivers unfamiliar with how traffic circles work, they aren't nearly as convenient or safe as they can be.
Yes, I can see the possible advantage of SMALL traffic circles in cities where winter ice is NOT a factor. Add that into the equation, though, particularly with large trucks trying to stay within an impossibly small turning radius, and the vehicle side-swiping is epidemic.
Now, the 5-lane traffic circles that I saw in Lusaka, Zambia were virtual black holes for the unwary or faint of heart --- get sucked into the inner lanes of THOSE monstrosities during rush hour (or at almost any time of the day, really), and it was "Abandon hope all ye who enter here".

Agree 100% and that is exactly the situation in the UK and the one I was thinking about. With such restrictions, they can work as well in the US, too. The insanely huge traffic circles are found in some other European countries and I think their presence is due to local architectural constraints and definitely not due to logical traffic planning.
The circles go back to Pierre L'Enfant's design of the city,
