The Rise And Fall Of The World's 10 Most Valuable Brands
Coca-Cola has been dethroned by Apple from its long-running position as the world’s most valuable brand, according to the closely watched Interbrand Best Global Brands survey. As Bloomberg BusinessWeek notes, the soft drink giant had held the No. 1 ranking for 13 consecutive years but fell to No. 3 in this year’s study by the consulting firm. Interbrand values the Apple brand at about $98 billion, and other tech companies such as Google, IBM, and Microsoft finished in the top five. Here’s a look at the twists and turns of the top 10 brands in the Interbrand study, which analyzes a brand’s financial strength and influence, going back to 2000.

Where the hell is "Trojan" & "Seagrams" on that list?
Long since overtaken by Heisenberg-brand blue meth?
damn i miss breaing bad
Cola-cola changed their formula a few years back, reducing the acidity and sugar content. Basically, they went to the "New Coke" formula, but didn't make an announcement about it this time. Well, I guess they realize that the public can tell the difference even if they don't change the container.
I notice Coke, McDonald's and Marlboro are red in colour. Is this because they are lethal or because they're losing money?
Boris plenty of confusion... where is Stolichnaya ("Stoli") on chart!? Must is be mistake.
Rank the 4 below by lethality:
1 Apple (RF energy x 4 billion second-hand cancer)
2 Coke (HFCS)
3 McDonalds (too numerous to list)
4 Marlboro (higher in Asia/Euro where one can still smoke indoors)
Just started watching it. Loved the hydroflouric acid in the tub. That was awesome. LOL
When Boris is break bad, wife is make sleep in other room.
Oh FUCK did you see the brand, "Amerika"? It's down like 10,000% since 1913!
The sheep get subsidized birth control pills so I doubt they even know what trojans are!
Boris is not familiar with Trojan, but sheep skin is make for durable prophylactic.
If you're hard up, leave sheep intestine in sheep, and bang away.
The Washington Lambskins. Taken?
Strange, I don't see GM anywhere on the list..........
Not sure if you mean that as a joke, but it actually is strange (suspicious) That they didn't show up before 2008. You have to read the wording very carefully to see that the metric used is some magic formula like the gov uses for calculating unemployment. I guess ranking by market cap or some other simple non-manipulatable measure wouldn't provide the results desired by the authors.
right. like where is exxon? "brand" is the key word, not corporation, or 'company'. could be a calculation of mkt cap less book value leaves 'intangibles/goodwill'. doubt they did that much effort. this is probably right out of a a brand new marketing textbook somewhere.
Raytheon? Who doesn't like those kick-ass cruise missiles that drop in outta nowhere and blow things to bits from as small as a building (conventional warhead) to an entire city (tactical nuke)?
imo when cities are destroyed by nuclear weapons it better be strategic rather than tactical. it's a joke.
+1 for Raytheon and the off-boresight capabilities of their leading edge munitions guidance packages.
Because this uses a vague and subjective concept of 'valuable' it is meaningless. There are so many exceptions shown over the years that do not reflect daily global consumption, how 'chic' a product is, stock prices or company value, etc. Apple is MOAR valuable AFTER Jobs died? Sure...
Vivid Entertainment should be on that list based on just SEC & DOJ viewership alone...
Sorry but I don't like plot in my porn.
Compare GE's position with the timeline of "The War on Terror". They need another war to climb higher.
Tylers, those gross pictures of toe fungus in the ads make me want to stop readng and change the page! Eeeww!!!
Soak them in vinegar. LOL
What!? You don't have a toe fungus fetish?
Yeah, I thought that was required for all ZH readers??!!??
Stop googling toe fungus... Or maybe big brother is trying to tell you something.
Well, you know what they say .... an Apple a day keeps the NSA at play.
Evil petroleum companies??
<<Coca-Cola has been dethroned by Apple>>
Wait ten years. You'll still see Coca Cola around but I suspect AAPL will go the way of Wang Computer, Lucent, etc....just a memeory.
Monsanto will see to that for nothing else but to supply them with all of their GMO High Fructose Corn Syrup.
i'm liking memeory. but it seems more apt for google (whose flagship product seems, to me, pathetically stupid and clunky for an age that can make the hardware that is utterly commonplace today).
$98 billion represents quite a drop in valuation for Apple. Somebody needs to tell these guys to get on the ball. Apple was supposed to be worth $1 trillion by now.
Can't have these brand valuation experts spoil the party.
Go ask Eastman Kodak. Of course George Eastman still has a tremendous "brand" http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/theymadeamerica/whomade/eastman_hi.html i find it interesting that he invented the idea of "branding" in the iconic sense by creating the word "Kodak." here's another name of great value in my view: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriarch_Nikon
can't believe monsanto isn't up there
Where's Glock and Remington? Oh... maybe I wasn't suppose to spill the beans, yet.
here are your Remingtons: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/frederic-remington/abou... "starting bids at ten million" i'm afraid.
Colt, my friend, Colt.
Glock is not even American!
Thought Obamacare brand would crack the top 10.
Guess not.
Fuck you Barry.
What, no banks on this chart?
The chart says GE at #6, but shouldn't that be QE?
What about US Army?
I thought that was a very recognsable brand across the world.
IBM? What do they do; I though they just took commission on maintenance deals.
How nice to see that Microsoft (#5) has fallen behind IBM (#4).
I bet Gates is choking on his eugenics thoughts.....
