GOP Demands "Let's Talk"

Tyler Durden's picture

It doesn't sound like the politicians are getting any closer...

  • BOEHNER SAYS IT'S TIME TO SIT DOWN, TALK, RESOLVE DIFFERENCES
  • BOEHNER SAYS ALL HE'S ASKING FOR IS NEGOTIATIONS
  • BOEHNER SAYS OBAMA, REID PUTTING U.S. ON `DANGEROUS PATH'

And the already proverbial Schrodinger table:

  • BOEHNER SAYS NOTHING IS ON THE TABLE, NOTHING IS OFF THE TABLE

These face-offs are starting to look like a mechanism for casting blame for the thing we all know is coming.  We all know that there is no resolution to the US fiscal crisis; we are way past that.  So the crisis is going to come, and it is going to suck.  If that is true, then the only remaining question is: who is going to get blamed for it?

Clearly the left has chosen "the Tea Party", and they are sticking to their guns.  Frankly, I think Boehner should issue a statement that says this: "we are unwilling to cast the US into default because of the Democrats' unwillingess to compromise.   So we are giving them what they demand and then some: we are passing a budget for $5 Trillion for this fiscal year, fully funding Obamacare, making plans to spend the difference on stimulus and extended unemployment benefits, and raising the debt limit to $30 Trillion.  May God have mercy on us all.  I am leaving Washington to be with my family."

This is all Political Therater. They're lying, deceiving Criminals. We're broke, they know it & The Criminal Treasury knows it.

Perhaps, & its a long stretch, if they would just stop spending & the problem would resolve itself. NOT a chance, the Criminal system is run on debt & credit.

Without it, KaBoom. It's Over, it's been over.

This is all Political Theater.  It's Over, it's been over.

Agree 100%.  We defaulted in 1971.  Ever since then it's all been about credit based on ever-increasing leverage.  The end game of leverage was insurance for junk, with the insurance known as "swaps", which appeared to give AAA rating to junk.  This leverage is easily visible in the sheer size of the swap market.  So yes, "they" (meaning the banks and the politicians they own) are lying deceiving criminals.  We are living in a criminal conspiracy and we are the marks.

I don't give a shit who gets blamed for it but one thing I know is that the ones currently in charge of the nation politically, financially, banking, MSM, etc can NOT under ANY circumstances be allowed to remain in charge of so much as a lemonade stand when it crashes. This is something that the people MUST insist on. Nuremberg trials V2.

Nuremberg v. 2 would be a good start, but I'll go even further.  If the goal of such trials is to actually prevent these crimes against humanity from being perpetrated again, then the courts that convict the head honchos must also punish the progeny of those criminals.  Otherwise, this will all happen again.

The so-called gold bugs frequently take solace in knowing that even if they’re not around to benefit from their investments, at least their families have been made secure for generations.  I believe that motivation is shared by the sociopaths perpetrating these crimes.  The earth must be salted, or it will yield the same bitter crop.

Many of The courts are also Criminal. The Global Criminal Oligarch Cabal Bankster Intelligence Crime Synicate has installed their "Agent Smiths" on many of the highest levels of the very Criminal institutions they own & established.

There's now, no doubt that Crimes Against Humanity & Crimes Against The American, People/Treason have been committed. Mass Global Arrests are needed & justified. Their Crimes are no longer "hidden in plain view". Their Crimes are all out in the open for all the world to see. How the mass arrests happen effectively is the question.

The only question being, who is the dictator?  If I'm not mistaken, as bad as it is, the TAHCA was voted into law.  Either fund everything or partially fund everything.  Holding the budget hostage over a highly politicized program isn't fooling anyone, other than the faithful.

Personally I hope the morons (that includes everyone on both sides of the isle and in the WH) blow everything sky high this time.  Blow it the fuck up and let's move on.

As an apparent Obama apologist it appears that you don't understand yes, ACA was voted into law yet the president through his underlings have unilaterally without debate (now, keep in mind ths is the democrats) to determine that some of the law, well, good portions of it, will NOT go into effect as the law stipulates.  And oddly enough the parts not going into effect are to the benefit of large corporations.  So, please, let's stop with that crap.

Additionally, it may have been voted into law by a one party majority but that doesn't make it a good law.   Alot of really bad shit went behind the passage of this law including no one actually reading and understanding what the insurance company lobbyists wrote when they put it together.

To give this law a pass because you're a democrat is exactly what is wrong with our country, the acceptance of criminal and treasonous behavior, illegal crony activity because the criminal doing the crime is 'your guy'.   This law is a piece of shit, the president is a piece of shit and apparently so aren't most of the democrats and republicans...all pieces of shit willing to trade their children for some kind of power...i reckon in the form of money.

You're crazy to think they're holding the budget hostage....there is NO BUDGET, hasn't been one since Bush.   It's all been spending off the cuff.   If anything, whether if it's for political gain or whether Boehner actually thinks it's time to stop fucking around - the fact remains.   It's time to stop fucking around.

Friends, Romans, and countrymen, lend me your ears. I come not to bury Obama, but to praise him.

Clear out the biases already developed over his illegitimacy, stupidity, narcissism, etc., for a moment and hear me out. Mr. President is doing the best thing that we, holders of gold and silver with stores of guns, ammo and food, could have ever hoped for by refusing to negotiate over either the shutdown or the debt ceiling, holding the strawman Obamacare over everyone's heads.

Isn't a severe downsizing of the US government and destruction of the Federal Reserve what we have longed for these past five, six years? Obama is bringing it to us, albeit in a haphazard manner, although one might suspect that such earth-shaking events don't happen neatly, anyway.

By refusing to negotiate on anything, in addition to having unblinking adversaries in the House of Representatives (our beloved Tea Partiers), the president, with an assist from congress, has already partially shut down the government and has paved the way for a no-win condition over the debt ceiling. The genii in the White House (aka Jack Lew and his buddies) and at the Fed have no doubt already figured out the next moves. When the debt ceiling debate fails to produce a responsible result, the government will begin to prioritize spending, paying off creditors first (interest on the debt), and probably Social Security and military pay (not necessarily in that order) next, and so on down the line.

The US federal government can, and will, proceed in this manner for quite some time, slimming down, shutting agencies, cutting budgets by blunt force and actually becoming somewhat fiscally responsible. During this period, there will be considerable chaos, available to be exploited by none other than those of us smart enough to do so. Price discovery, for everything from real estate to peaches, will be a matter of making the best deal available, and many of us are adept at deal-making. Government employees may be furloughed, laid off or permanently disenfranchised, their pensions slashed, and other government programs (can you spell FARM SUBSIDIES?) will have to be eliminated in order to cut wasteful spending and/or increase revenue.

At the same time, the government will become more and more dysfunctional, having lost its most basic trapping of power, the consent of the governed, in many places, particularly large urban centers and deep rural communities. If martial law becomes the norm, how long and how well will that be enforced in a country chock-full of gun-toting, liberty-loving individualistic patriots and their new-to-the-party brethren?

There will be chaos. But eventually, there will be peace and a new understanding that the federal government is powerless over the needs of individual states, and even counties and other municipalities. A new form of feudalism or tribalism may be the result, but the bottom line is that the federal government will be a shadow of its former self, individuals and communities will forge new leaderships, apart and away from government, which will (and in many cases, already is) be viewed as not the solution, but the problem.

People will become more self-reliant, industrious and unburdened by regulations and authority. A new America will emerge, one that is less-centralized, more progressive (I know that's a dirty word to some), less encumbered by regulation and overall, more free, and freedom is what America is all about.

Let's get behind our president. NO NEGOTIATIONS. Keep chanting. Keep the government closed. Begin the process of downsizing and prioritizing spending. Stop borrowing. How will the Fed issue new debt-money if the Treasury can't borrow? There will be progress against the Federal Reserve, but not victory, until we rise up and smite them, refuse their fiat and return to a gold standard or gold/silver standard.

Real money. And all because the politicians played a game of chicken which neither can win.

We all have reasons to doubt or criticize the president, but, maybe, just maybe, he's willing to risk his reputation and his life in order to be the transformational figure he promised. I know it's a stretch, but maybe he's a wickedly wise politician and playing the banksters for all they're worth, willing to shut down the government and destroy the economy in order to save it all. What comes out the other side is largely up to him, but also well within our grasp.

THIS is OUR MOMENT. Carpe Diem!

>> Mr. President is ..... holding the strawman Obamacare over everyone's heads.

I'll admit, I don't follow this shit very closely, but I was under the impression it was the Republicans who were making the focus soley on TAHCA.

greatbeard, good point, well taken. The Repubs are the ones holding the ACA funding as a negotiating point, but let's take it a step further, on the premise that the president actually knows what he's doing. Look at what happened over Syria. Do you not think the president didn't think his entire strategy through, ate some crow, but avoided a war?

Same deal. He knows ACA is the lynchpin to bringing down the government, and maybe the website glitches aren't exactly accidental. Yet, he says, "I won't negotiate..." over the ACA. So, who's holding the cards? It's his plan. Maybe both sides are playing along. That's a possibility. Maybe some of these senators and representatives are tired of whoring themselves out to banks and corporations and their overlord masters and are quietly pulling off a reverse coup. Maybe some of them actually have consciences, and prefer liberty to enslavement by central banks.

Then again, maybe it's all concocted by the central bankers themselves. A grand collapse to send the world into turmoil to implement their NWO.

We all are well aware that collapse is an eventuality, not a possibility. Maybe this is a good way to cover it all up, blame it on politicians, crash the system and restore some semblance of normalcy. Note how the gov is going hammer and tongs against JPM. This is likely not a coincidence.

I know that's a lot of maybes, but who can know for sure. For lack of a better argument, I'll go with the politicians looking like idiots and not raising the debt ceiling, which, as we all know, is the best outcome we could ever expect. Again, it will happen eventually. Why not stick it right now?

Given that half the posters here are all but calling for armed revolution, it is no surprise that the actions of the GOP are beyond them...

Seriously, Boehner is toast one way or the other and and he is desperately trying to save face...

And sorry the GOP is not winning this, not even close...

Boehner has already said he's retiring after next year's elections.  He has nothing to lose.

Obviously something has to evolve so that both sides seem to get a piece of desires.  Frankly, why this has become such a problem is that in the past both sides could be bought off with spending on their pet projects that drove spending in total much higher.

The Sequester ended that.

Now both sides have to accept some failure.  Boehner robbed the White House of a maneuver in that regard when he reduced a demand for Obamacare repeal down to a 1 year delay.  That chip should not have been taken from the White House.  Stupid move by Boehner.

As for what the GOP can give up, they are largely blocked by the Sequester, and voting to delay that already happened in January with a delay to March, so that's somewhat robbed from them (by McConnell and Biden).  Though maybe that's the deal -- 1 year delay in ACA for a 6 month Sequester delay on the 2014 cuts.

The world is fucked because it relies on the USA printing enough cash to service its debt so as to keep the merry go round going round.

Each print run enables the USA to obtain real stuff from the rest of the world in exchange for crap. The rest of the world now goes along with this fraud because it is to scared to admit that its reserves of US dollars are worth shit.

The tipping point is still some way off but don't be fooled to think it is a long way off.

This guys sounds like my daughters did when they were little.  They would demand something.  I would laugh and send them to their rooms, telling them that I did not talk "demands."  Ten or fifteen minutes later they would start crying from the room, "Daddy, I am sorry.  Can I come out now.  I am sorry..."

I would laugh some more.

I guess I am more like Obama than I thought.

Does that make me a Kenyan Pussy?
