G-20 Slams US And Japanese Fiscal And Monetary Policy

Tyler Durden's picture

Unlike the usual back-slapping reacharound that G-20 meetings are, the most recent one, just ended in Washington with a rather more aggressive set of comments...

  • *JAPAN'S ECONOMIC PLANS MEET 'WIDESPREAD' SKEPTISM AT G-20: ZHU
  • *U.S. SHOULD HEED GLOBAL CONCERNS ON DEBT CRISIS, ZHU SAYS (or else)
  • *G-20: MONETARY POLICY MUST BE CALIBRATED, COMMUNICATED WELL  (stop messing up Fed!)
  • *G-20 SAYS U.S. MUST TAKE `URGENT ACTION' ON FISCAL UNCERTAINTY (come on Congress!)

In other words, you guys in the US and Japan with your crazy policies and lack of credibility and screwing up "the plan."

Chinese deputy finance minister Zhu Guangyao told reporters on the sidelines of the G20 that Japan’s economic plans met ‘widespread’ skepticism at the G20.

The Chinese know everything. The Fed clears monetary policy with them first. Therefore the Chinese know this is going to end badly -- probably soon -- and are positioning to save face internally.

The end-game is on.

Makes you think China is playing with the Gold and Silver market buying up physical because they know the trillion + in Treasuries they have are as worthless as the USG. If you believe in old stories maybe the Chinese are just taking back what was lent to the US after WWII. I guess everyone has an agenda whether it's clear or not. I really don't know, just making conversation.

Nothing in what you suppose is anywhere near outlandish speculation. You can bet on one thing; the Chinese along with everyone else are desperately trying now to insulate themselves from what is the assumed utter collapse of the US economy, and subsequent repudiation of all outstanding debts by the US federal government.

They have been working on insulation since 2008.

They are making all the right noises as if they were at risk. They aren't.I'd  bet their UST exposure

is actually nil at this point.

Just making hay while the sun shines.

The Chinese have patience.Won't be long now in any case.

Maybe two years ,maybe one.

I believe we will enter the year 2014 stirred into a furor, and leave it wreathed in flames.

Less than a year.

My estimate also, though they keep surprising me with their levitation skills.

All my preparations are culminating ,and completed come Jan. 15th.

It will be wise to be early, not late,to this particular bonfire party.

Ah yes.....   Japan is floating down a river full of escalating rapids towards a waterfall drop off of epic proportions.   But it's sunny out and the water is kinda warm so no one the Japan 'boat' is really complaining at the moment.   Only problem is that the boats owners know that it's gonna start getting exciting for the passengers and at some point they will fall off a precipice that will take their collective breath away.  But for now, all is well in the land of the rising sun.

This will be the event that upsets the world apple cart.  It's coming.   Kyle Bass is dead on with regard to this.   Eventually it will come down to the math and math alone.

yeah, wouldn't get too excited about this.  Everyone loves pissing on the Japanese, but those comments directed at the US are just telling them to get their house in order by raising the debt ceiling and getting the government back up to its full corrupt wasting potential.

Not exactly a cry for fiscal discipline and sounds like they are talking Owebama's book.  More reach-around for everyone.

LOL!  Bring some popcorn.

The whole thing is going to go down like a Rube Goldberg machine built by Bugs Bunny.  The grand finale involves a piano, acme brand explosives and an anvil.

Reminds me of an inverted short bus where the retards (US, Japan) are driving singing wheels on the bus go round and round oblivious to the fact the bus is speeding towards a cliff while the passengers who are also retards but not as retarded just are scared because of the speed the bus is traveling while also oblivious to the cliff and drop approaching.

Elegant analogy.  I view it as a Mob clubhouse where Whitey Bulger (U.S.) and Yakuza Sam (Japan) have been borrowing heavily from the house account to cover gambling losses, and Triad Trang (China), Favela Sambo (Brazil), Mandrax Mambo (S.A.), East End Toothless Jack (U.K.), Guallia the Syphillitic Whore (France), Ivan the Crusher (Russia) etc. are getting antsy, but won't do much about it but mumble.

Yes it is a show. Everything is staged in the sense that everything is choreographed.

But none of this is fake. You get that idea, then you are going to be taken by surprise some day. There is an enormous amount of damage control taking place right now. Things are about to blow up in our faces, seriously go to hell. World leaders are already falling over each other trying to get out of the way, it is only going to become more and more desperate, increasingly shrill, continuously more hopeless.

When they finally crack, you better have your own shit wired up tight.

The FedRes, and Pimpco has most everything over two year duration.

The foreigners are positioned right next to the emergency exits.Just waiting on the alarm.

I've been wondering that since about 2007. For damn sure I don't have anything in T-Bills or the like. I've got a fair bit sunk into consumables and other stuff stashed in various places, and I'm standing by the exit--when the alarm goes off I'm headed to Sam's Club and then wherever I can find more ammo with the pickup and whatever cash I can lay hands on.

Well, thanks to the persistent Gold-smack-downs since last Nov., China has been buying gold Bullion at deep discounts.  Thanks, JPM+GS!

They are hedging their bets with total monetary wealth by buying USTs and Gold.  Their 'squawking' is merely a bargaining ploy.

I think the depth of NSA penetration of comms systems has delayed them somewhat.

The alternate to SWIFT has to be secure from US hacking, and disruption..

I'm sure they are sorting out a workaround as we breathe.
