Glenn Greenwald Leaving Guardian, Starting New Venture

Tyler Durden's picture

Just out from Glenn Greenwald, and the Guardian, which both announce the Snowden-connected journalist is leaving the publications to start his own venture. Amusingly, the news of Greenwald's departure was "leaked" before he was fully prepared to announce it. Define irony.

Statement of Glenn Greenwald:

"My partnership with the Guardian has been extremely fruitful and fulfilling: I have high regard for the editors and journalists with whom I worked and am incredibly proud of what we achieved.

"The decision to leave was not an easy one, but I was presented with a once-in-a-career dream journalistic opportunity that no journalist could possibly decline.

"Because this news leaked before we were prepared to announce it, I'm not yet able to provide any details of this momentous new venture, but it will be unveiled very shortly;"

Statement of the Guardian's Jennifer Lindauer:

"Glenn Greenwald is a remarkable journalist and it has been fantastic working with him. Our work together over the last year has demonstrated the crucial role that responsible investigative journalism can play in holding those in power to account. We are of course disappointed by Glenn’s decision to move on, but can appreciate the attraction of the new role he has been offered. We wish him all the best."

There was tension between Glenn Greenwald and the Rothschild-family Guardian newspaper

Greenwald has been learning more about how the Guardian has been planting fake 'news' for CIA projects, like for the US gov false flag 'chemical weapons' attacks in Syria that turned out to have been run by the Americans - Saudis - Israelis

Also, Glenn Greenwald learned that his boss at the Guardian, Alan Rusbridger, had actually taken bribes to publish repeated fake news about the US Federal judges in Virginia USA, who were involved in bribery crimes ... and these are the same judges who would put Edward Snowden on trial for the criminal charges the US government had made against him !

Glenn Greenwald has always been a timid journalist about US judicial corruption and bribery ... back when he was writing for Salon online magazine, he stayed away from the really frightening stories about US court corruption, lawyers being disbarred and jailed for opposing bribed US judges, and so on ...

But the corruption at the Rothschild-family-sponsored, bribe-taking Guardian, the CIA-promoting 'left wing of MI6', had gotten way too much for him

---

Courageous former UK Ambassador Craig Murray, who exposed CIA-backed torture in Uzbekistan, is for example one victim of the CIA - Guardian.

« The Guardian is controlled by Guardian Media Group, whose chairman is Paul Myners, a past employee of N M Rothschild & Sons Limited. Guardian Media Group is owned by the Scott Trust, which became a limited private company in 2008, with all trustees becoming directors of the Scott Trust. Anthony Salz was appointed as a trustee of the Scott Trust in 2009; he is currently executive vice-chairman of the investment bank Rothschild. »

The ultra-Zionist Rothschild family is the world's wealthiest, estimated by mainstream sources (Forbes etc) to have a wealth in excess of US $ 400 billion ($.4 trillion !), but they spread it among numerous family members and thus can avoid the 'top billionaires' lists.

Here, about how the Rothschild UK Guardian recently was pumping the 'chemical weapons' hoaxes to incite war upon Syria:
http://www.medialens.org/index.php/alerts/alert-archive/alerts-2013/736-...

The Guardian attack on the Murdoch papers was again a US gov sponsored programme to punish Murdoch for having a few commentators critical of US fascism and supporting the US Constitution ... intel on 'phone hacking' was supplied to the Guardian to tame and terrorise Murdoch, as well as pump up the Rothschild Guardian as the new 'trusted' fake-progressive news ... plan seems to be working

ZH'rs right on it. That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. This is all about The Guardian and political pressure being brought to bear.

I sincerely hope he drives a classic car / truck without a computer. Otherwise he's likely to speed headlong into a tree and explode accidentally on purpose.

Better make it a 1964-66 Chrysler Imperial, if he can find one. Five thousand pounds of steel with a full perimeter, X-crossmember box frame made them practically indestructible, to the point where they were largely banned from competing in demolition derbies.

For someone who often makes thoughtful posts, your recurring "Greenwald is a timid journalist" theme is jarringly dissonant. He has quite clearly been one of, if not the most important American journalists of the past decade, and has taken plenty of big risks.

The argument that he is somehow "timid" because he has been unable to publish every damaging bit of information that he has had is ridiculous on its face. There is zero chance that he could have had the impact that he had with the Snowden material had he not used a MSM outlet to introduce it. Did he have to compromise in some ways? Perhaps. But it is ludicrous to suggest that the very journalist who has regularly caused the greatest consternation amongst TPTB is "timid".

I greatly admire Snowden and consider him a hero. I thank Greenwald for helping to make Snowden's material public. Other than that, I could care less about Greenwald and I hope his venture keeps him out of site.

Well I hope more journalists grow a maverick spine and risk it all on telling it all, humanity's got to get the warmongers and tax-parasite weapon dealers shutdown, and the spying programs and their databases plowed-under, or the world is sure to erupt in a war so shocking we can't even imagine it.  And that would be just the beginning.

I don't agree with his - or the Guardian's - politics, but he took a huge risk (second to Snowdon) to do what he did.

I wish the REAL Patriots who are all heroically working for Big-MIC and Big-PoliceState - keeping us safe from the Constitution - would show some equal courage.

Report: House GOP Considers Passing Bill, Then Leaving Town

Their plan to avert default fizzling, House Republicans are reportedly considering passing their bill and then skipping town.

According to Politico, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) are discussing "voting on their bill and, if it passes, leaving town a bid to try to force the Senates hand."

GOOD.

Have you ever tried posting anything even mildly controversial at the Guardian?  Even hint that 9/11 was an inside job and your post will removed faster than you can say "Guardian."  The Guardian is only a guardian of the current power structure.  No wonder Greenwald decided to leave.

Now that Greenwald is no longer constrained, we can look forward to more fireworks.

It's what drives me nuts about these guys like Greenwald and Chris Hedges. They'll claim people in Gov't are villains without equal, slaughtering hundreds of thousands around the world -- but then balk at saying they'd knock down a few buildings on 9/11.

Same with guys like Chomsky. If the political Left actually admitted the extent of the awfulness, it'd ruin their fantasy of collective human progress. So they don't.

Same as when Robert Fisk said goodbye to the Times.

UPDATE:

Exclusive: Greenwald exits Guardian for new Omidyar media venture

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/10/15/us-usa-security-greenwald-idUS...

(Reuters) - Glenn Greenwald, who has made headlines around the world with his reporting on U.S. electronic surveillance programs, is leaving the Guardian newspaper to join a new media venture funded by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, according to people familiar with the matter.

Greenwald, who is based in Brazil and was among the first to report information provided by one-time U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden, wrote in a blog post on Tuesday that he was presented with a "once-in-a-career dream journalistic opportunity" that he could not pass up.

He did not reveal any specifics of the new media venture but said details would be announced soon. Greenwald did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Two sources familiar with the new venture said the financial backer was Omidyar. It was not immediately clear if he was the only backer or if there were other partners.
