With the only thing that matters the level of the S&P 500, we can only wonder at what effect the GOP's discussion (and hopefully Q&A) of their new new bill (with Obamacare issue) will have on the world's key metric... However, it seems the divide is only getting wider (despite the hope/hype) as Boehner comments:

It is clear from this shutdown that politicians in a democracy are willing to hold the future of the majority of the working class at stake to achieve their own objectives. If the population of a country thinks that political candidates who spend millions of dollars to get elected do so to serve their country and make policies and rules for the betterment of the majority of the citizens of the country need to wake up from their dreams. Democracy worldwide is a failure and needs to be re-defined to ensure the periodical evaluation of elected leaders so that they perform their duties or can be removed by the people from their seats of power.

One thing for certain, the politicians are trying to shine the shit that they are by coming to some accord before the debt ceiling limit is breached. If not, then what?
I kind of like the end-around whereby a new government agency is created: Banks/Money Markets/ and various assorted institutions would voulntarily lend("invest" for their clients) the government money above and beyond the usual $85Billion fire hosing spewing forth from the FED. The FED would have to get part of that action too, so I suppose it would be arranged so that "private" institutions would lend the FED the money so that the FED could keep track of it all, and justify its new fees as it sends off the money to the beast. Madoff was an amateur.
The problem is, the whole process is so convoluted, so off the wall, that I, and most other people won't be able to understand it....until I look to make a withdrawal from my bank or retirement and find that what I thought was mine really isn't -or wasn't.
