Jamie Dimon On The US Debt Endgame

Tyler Durden's picture

Yes, it's ironic to defer to Jamie Dimon, who lately has far more pressing concerns in justifying the non-criminal nature of his enterprise, on anything - especially which does not involve market manipulation - but for once, Jamie actually had it right when it comes to framing the parody of governance in the US and the real debt problem.

From Bloomberg:

Q. How worried are you that one morning the bond market has moved against the United States?

A. It’s virtually assured, the question is when and how. I don't know if it will be two years of five years but it will happen. It is a matter of time, the United States can’t borrow indefinitely. Over hundred years bankruptcies of country after country who thought they could get away with it because they had the reserve currency and the military power of the world. We are going to have fiscal discipline. It’s imposed upon us or we do the right thing and do it to ourselves the right way.... America knows the way, it doesn't have the will.

Of course it doesn't have the will because the Fed takes away any impetus to act when the "monetary" branch of government will merely push the S&P that much higher and everyone will forget just how broken the economy truly is. And speaking of monetizing, there will no "turn" before the Fed stops monetizing all of it (ref: see what happened when the Fed merely mentioned tapering), and in the process boosting JPM's excess deposits over loans also known as prop-trading "dry powder" to record all time highs.

Why in god's name would you want it to be quick?

If I had a bankster in the basement, the last thing I would give him is a quick death.

I'm thinking more along the lines of tying him to a pole and putting his feet in a hungry dog's cage. Each day moving the cage closer to the pole.

When Soros, Blankfien, Buffet, Bernanke, Dimon, and the rest of that generation of bankster scum finally pass on after they've had their fill of transplanted 19 year old organs and 12 year old asians, then the US can have its debt endgame.

They aren't going to let this thing fall in the greediest generation's lap. It's party time until death, and then the debt load of a thousand worlds will fall on their children.

I see your point but I like everyone being able to read and such. I think what you mean is schools need a revolution. Schools primary goal today is to assess and evaluate. This is incorrect, a school should be a place to explore and learn. A schools main focus should be not testing but understanding yourself and the world around you. The poor? That is how you abolish the poor....by investing in them. Invest in their neighboorhoods, their schools, their infastructures...You cannot simply Abolish the poor..you need to help them. If we started investing heavily into poor neighborhoods. Renovating their schools, public transportation, and their communities it changes everything...So like I said, reduce government and military spending and do that with the money.

He knows the end game without any question...And you better believe that these guys are going to make a fortune riding this market down when the time arrives. No chance they are going to allow the President to take the credit of the SP meteoric rise...as much as they love these policies that the President permits because it allows him to pretend their is a recovery by his hand in the end he knows that when the tide turns the populist President will throw them under the bus much swifter than say a GOP establishment...and so the game of ping pong goes...good cop vs bad gop.

At least now we know that he is well aware of what is in store for us with certainty...AND I KNOW..Bernanke has the same thoughts running through his head but he will never admit to them..which is why it is YELLEN TIME...smartest move he made is doing all this damage and stepping out in the nick of time to allow her to continue these policies so they can toss the blame at her.

I'm not surprised by the reactions here to his pov though I think that people here and at large are misunderstanding what he is saying.

For me the high point of this short paragraph is that there are only two choices:

either tougher fiscal policies will be enforced by the "outside".

either American do it them-selves.

The way I read is like the other non sovereign coutries in EU, there won't be a real default, and like Greece "we" (I'm French but my fate is not different) are to be squeezed till the last drop...

He doesn't speak of doom day, subjacent to his pov is that the international banking system is going nowhere, it will enforce its will and rules even to the once (all)mighty America.

Imo the people here thinking he is lecturing Americans are completely wrong, he is a cynical bastard, like his friends, so he is not lecturing you (Americans) just spelling out how you are going to get eaten...

"...so he is not lecturing you (Americans) just spelling out how you are going to get eaten..."

He is not lecturing the average ZH reader, American or otherwise. This we know already. There is a thing called Newton's third law. Nothing is exempt from it just a question of where elsewhere it exerts itself. It may not show up in the obvious places and sometimes can be contained outside area the action is being exerted but you can't remove the reaction out of the overall system. Outside is not outside the overall system due to the construct and global interconnected nature of things.

I agree with you though I'm not sure you are right about a bunch of "zeroers", violence solves nothing, cutting one head of a hydra neither. Though I don't want to start a debate on weapons.

The thing is that I was pointing is the system is not a system or network of soverign nations as it seems you know, it is a network of people. They are interconnected indeed like the nobility throughout Europe was, nothing changed here.

People have always been powerless in Europe, my "foreigner" pov on "American exceptionalism" is that in some place ( I would say the further you go for the coasts) in US, something unexpected happened, a non "oligarchic" system tried to exist (it no lasted for long). It got defeated by oligarchs. My pessimistic view is that democracy (real) was defeated for a good reason, people are not worthy of being citizens. They don't care enough and worse there are some "scale" issue.

I watched the other day a conference by Joseph Tainter, a bulb went on as I did. Whatever the nature of a system, and say a system that at least try to be virtous, (if the circumstances are right) at some point it will grow too "complex" (going by the precise definition J.Tainter uses), complexity as a tool to solve problem faces dimishing returns if not ineffeciency.

Human I think search effeciency, when inefficiency is reached, there will always be groups, tinier, somehow less complex, and thus more efficient that are to take over, or at least short cuts. Like other tings it has a cumulative effect (they can either take over at last, or create too much troubles within the society). Ultimately my point is that any population that identifies it -self to an "entity/identiy/ I lack proper words..." that is "too big" is to ultimately lose to more efficient, lesser groups of people.

There are vivious thraits to that matter of facts, tiny groups are both to be overcome by bigger groups at first, but tiny group can really prosper within a well establish big group so to speak.

What I say is that we are doomed somehow and the system is set to remain an oligarchy till unforeseen future (as stated by Michel Cota a member of the tri lateral comission).  A system as the United States (not UNITED STATES) is to loss against foreign power within which tiny groups have taken over (and leverage the power of) a big group of people (aka the nobility, and the bourgeoisy to financial parasites/plutocrates). You can't set a democracy, with lot of local power in the world as it is now, even if people were worthy to be citizens. For that to happen you would need something like "American exceptionalism" to happen at same time pretty globally which I thikn we will agree is unlikely.

From there, I've truned into a pessimistic and to some extend one cannot really escape "his birth" as a primary factor to define one's condition :(

Dimon may have another motivation in saying what he says.

He could well be telling those that are pursuing him to lay off or he will start telling more truths until the market panics.

Ok..how about a 12guage, Remington 1100 with the simple clip that adds several loads to his head.  Any takers.  I am sure Mr. Obama would call it a terrorist act however, most libertarians would laud it as "MERCY KILLING".  Mercy on all those Americans whose lives have been destroyed since the Bankers all paid themselves and jacked up the stock market and put "us" our "kids" and every generation that follows under the forever debt scheme. It does not matter if you THINK you are debt free, they will come up with tax after tax that will enslave you forever. We might as well fight the battle now. Unlike faggot Boehner and the rest of the Pinko RHINOs and the Demo slaves, I am up for the fight now. Just got a nice M1 with many clips.  We need to end this NOW.
Either stop paying taxes or start the war. Whatever..

Ahh ,Jamie Dimon sees the light -just before the entire shithouse goes up in flames. He couldn't see it while pigging out at the TARP trough from 2008 on. But alas mere seconds before the music stops - he has a "Road to Damascus" conversion. The timing is so well planned one might think its really all staged.

Jamie Dimon you are a sociopathic piece of shit. I pity your soul!

This guy should be in prison. Just 'cuz he tells the truth now, doesn't let him off, as far as I'm concerned. To the guillotine!
