UPDATE: There will be two votes by the Senate on the deal by 8pm. One on cloture (requires 60 votes), and one on final passage (simple majority)... then it's on to the house...

We assume there will be the normal grandstanding with every Senator wanting to get their soundbite in for saving the world... but the vote is about to occur (expected around 6pm) before sending it to the House for apparent rubber-stamping... we will see of course...

While I agree with your passion, I humbly suggest that it is better to always vote against the politicians whom you fear the most [in your heart of hearts] and who have a good chance of winning [no matter how little you like the politicians you have to vote for in order to do that].

I tried to read the Senate Bill on Debt Ceiling Government Shutdown and it was nearly impenetrable.  There are so many references, exclusions, a generally self-referential language, that it's hard to find out what is really being proposed.  WTF?

And, just think about it; that bill has to be quite a bit shorter than the [un]Affordable Care Act plus all of its regulations.

They would appear to have created such unbelievable regulatory complexity that surely only a company with the elite [crony] abilities can really afford to retain the services of enough K-street lobbyists to figure out how to navigate the complexity.

It's apparently so bad the "fact-checkers" can't even figure out how long it is, let alone what it means.
