Tea Party Blasts Boehner "The Senate Deal Is A Complete Sellout"

Tyler Durden's picture

While the House looks set to vote for the Senate bill and kick the can just a little down the road, the Washington Post reports that at least one tea party group is calling for Republicans to hold their ground.

"The Senate deal is a complete sellout.  Speaker Boehner and the House should stand firm and reject this deal to reign in the executive branch’s power before it is too late,”

-Tea Party Patriots head Jenny Beth Martin said.

“The House ‘leadership’ must stop playing ‘flinch’ with themselves, and instead, play hardball with the White House, the Senate, and the House. Otherwise, hard-working Americans are going to bear the burden of this unaffordable law (Obamacare). The American people will hold those responsible for this mess accountable.”

Let the voters vote out every single incumbent.  While it won't make a difference, at least the existing assholes don't get a front seat to power.

@Sterling Rod,

A direct democracy is de facto mob rule, you twerp.  That's exactly what the libtards want, and exactly why the Founding Fathers gave us a Republic.  The closer we get to a true democracy over the years, the more the uneducated masses gain the ability to vote via their emotions and demand goodies from Gov (which in turn come from all of us via taxes).

The Senate has become corrupted and subservient to the White House just like ancient Rome, where the Senate was full of people who bowed to Caesar.

The House is the closest level of representation of the people, per Article I of the Constitution.

When people go to the polls they usually don't vote out the incumbents. IMHO, that poll is useless.

Think of it this way: You are a farmer. Your representative is a senior member of the agirculture committee. You know he has the power to help you continue to receive your subsidies. Are you going to vote him out? Look at the House of Representatives Financial Service Committee: http://financialservices.house.gov/about/members.htm

My rule now is to look at what they do.  What is Cruz going to do to try to drum up grassroots support?  Nothing.  Because the truth is that he doesn't really care. None of them do.   Believe it because it's there to see if you open your eyes.

Actually, Carnigie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Ford, all built lasting industries that changed the world and employed millions of people and raised the standards of living for many more millions. Were they totalitarian capitalists that also took advantage of workers and governments?... yes, but at least they provided tangible benefits to millions. JP Morgan on the other hand, did nothing other than manipulate the financing of the titans to benefit himself. He did nothing to benefit the masses, but plenty to enlarge the banking community to enslave the masses. I will take a boatload of Carnigie, Rockefeller, Ford and Vanderbilts over JP Morgans any day if that is what capitalism would look like.

Capitalism always looks like just how you picture it in your head...  because that's the only place it ever exists.  In the real world, self interest demands conclusions different than capitalism can stand, ergo, capitalism can never be sustained but for short glimpses of time.  Alternatively, one might say you're looking at the inevitable conclusion of the free market...  consolidation of power.

No, the opposite.  In business graduate school (and an undergrad in business), I was taught to kneel at the alter of capitalism...  That it is the end-all, be-all solution.  [it's kissing cousins with religion].

The reality is that the labels we affix to how self interest manifests itself in our society are of little use.  It's as though because we demand a certain economic system that we can actually impose that system on rational actors.  Fortunately or unfortunately, it doesn't quite work like that.  The labels we give to economic systems are just our love affair with academic concepts, most of which have no place in the real world and do not accurately represent any present state of affairs (they're always ex post facto).

The paradox of capitalism is that rational actors would never be caught dead participating in a market with perfect competition.  As a result, rational actors seek to avoid competition and collect rent (and corrupt the market regulators).  Perfect competition is never realized, thus the maximization of the efficient use of resources is also never realized.  Further, to a certain extent, capitalism requires an equal starting position and presumes that inherent differences in core competencies do not naturally dictate the conclusion to competition.  I dispute this presumption and, practically speaking, there is never an equal starting point.  The beginning tends to dictate the end.  Capitalists severely underestimate the desire by rational actors to avoid competition.  There simply is no known mechanism to force the competition expected by capitalists.

I'll entertain a cleanest dirty shirt argument for capitalism, but to promote it as some sort of solution to our present ills is to completely ignore history, future, and common sense...

I live in a town in Oregon that has been invaded by libtards from Kalifornica in the false left/right paradigm. What I hear is total absolute consumption of the meme it was the big bad republicans causing all the problems and that they are all traitors.

They just can't make the analogy that when their families run up too much credit card debt and the interst is compounding faster than they can pay, the answer is not to get another credit card... Well maybe for them it is...

Did you dudes finally put in off-ramps?

Don't tell me that Oregon borrowed the money to do it just to bring in those tourists from the south

or did the feds give you the funds?

I haven't been up there in 30 years

later: more reds!

I gave my self a red---it seems that if you don't get the red votes---you really haven't said anything. It is almost as upside down here on ZH as it is the Congress. Maybe, it is tre that you get the government that you deserve.

The Red Team dumbasses will keep voting Red Team because - in the end - they think the Red Team will eventually help them get even with "those people".

There's no need for a budget with fiat currency.   It's all just Kabuki.   We haven't needed a budget since Nixon.

To say that Boehner folded like a cheap lawn chair is an insult to comparatively solid Chicom crap manufacturing.

Instead of dumping cash on the capital floor, someone should get a bunch of urinal cakes made up with with Boehner's ugly mug and place them in all the men's rooms on Capital Hill.

This is the biggest change Americans, young and old, have seen in their lifetimes. This is Communism and people are going to feel it within days. It's not something from which Boehner, McConnell and the political turncoats can seek protection from their handlers, the Fed banking cartel. They’re up against an angry country that’s finding out who they are.

As for the takers following this man Obama, they are so dumb they’re going to be slaughtered like sheep. Living pay check to pay check, thinking they are going to be getting someone else’s paycheck, they've picked the dictator… and dictators hit the weak.

Depends on how you look at it.  If the rich are mostly Republicans, they, in effect, for now, win. Yes,  something the Red Team dumbasses can't comprehend.   If it wasn't for Big-Corp, we wouldn't have Obamacare.   Big-Corp wants out of paying for the the medical-insurance scam.  Obamacare was just their way off-loading the costs to the taxpayes.

If the Red Team dumbasses actually cared about the EEE-vile of socialism they'd be demanding the corporations get off it too.

But REAL "Conservatives" just genuflect to the Big-Corp CEO's; who are - after all - so rich and successful that they must be virtuous.

That is it in a nutshell but it is a point that is avoided at all costs.  I keep hearing over and over how the patriotic tea party is trying to save America, but at the same time they're not willing to cut anything else to get the job done.  If America is worth saving, and I'm not so sure about that, it's worth everyone sacrificing.

So... Sellout boehner. Nominate Pelosi as speaker in exchange for the House Judiciary Committee chair. The democrats will let their minority whip in, you form a coalition caucus, she can't pass anything without, and republican leadership loses all sway for selling you out. With the Judiciary committee, you begin subpoenaing Obama administration officials for fraud and corruption. There's nothing Pelosi can do and you start scoring the biggest victories against the democrats. Clock is ticking. The republicans are going to come after you hard at the beginning of next year for the debt ceiling play. Go all in.
