I just went to "enrole california" web site and tried to use the calculator. It was very simple how many people, age, how much do you make. But then when I hit calculate it said "contact us for more information". Now I have programed a few computers and could easily have done a table lookup to find out that value in a day or so. Must be something else (not) going on here........

I'm not so sure that the reason for the paltry few who have actually signed up for this fiasco is attributable to the inability to log on.

I think a lot more sheeple have actually logged on, but when they get their premium pricing, which is 100%++ or more compared to what they are currently paying, they say "Fuck this!", and then log off.  IMHO

I saw a case for a guy in NC insuring his family go from $800/mo with a $3k deductible to $1700/mo and $24k deductible! That is essentially full self insurance and forced redistribuiton to Obama voters.

At those prices it pay to self insure/not purchase anything. That is where the IRS will become the enforcer for the program.

The Obamacare liftoff is a fizzle.

And why not? It's built on fraud. Obama didn't even have to fight for the corruption that gives him his advantages; the corruption was handed to him. He walked into it. It was there when Bob Rubin sat next to him at the Brooking’s Institution’s Hamilton Project, a neo-liberal think tank created by Rubin and Roger Altman. He sold his soul to Wall Street. Obama didn’t have to do anything but stand in the Oval Office to do their bidding. He’s the stand-in for the tyrants.

"Barack Obama became president because he told the Rubins and Altmans of the world that he was on their side while simultaneously convincing millions of voters that he was on theirs." -- Margaret Kimberly

AMERICANS PLAN TO PAY OBAMAFINE

ObamaCare in More Trouble Than You Might Think | Breitbart

by Dan Riehl 18 Oct 2013

Selling the American people on ObamaCare was always going to be a big challenge. That's why it was passed all but in the middle of the night. Now, with the number of people who say they will opt out of ObamaCare and pay the fine instead growing - the selling of ObamaCare is only going to become more difficult, not less.

That could easily have major ramifications to the success of the program overall.

Obstacles to its success have only grown in recent days and the fight is far from over. According to Gallup, more people than ever are now saying they will pay the fine, as opposed to enrolling.

… A key to making the Affordable Care Act work as designed is for all Americans to carry health insurance. To ensure this happens, the law stipulates that Americans are subject to fines if they do not have health insurance. When Gallup reminds uninsured Americans of this requirement and asks what they are most likely to do, 56% say they plan to get insurance, while 34% say they are more likely to pay the fine.

In September, Gallup found a slightly larger margin in favor of getting insurance than is the case now, 65% to 25%.

Not only that, but the number of people even fully aware of the program continues to remain low.

Seven in 10 not familiar with exchanges, unchanged since September.

That's part of the reason why you are seeing panic like this below from sites like the Huffington Post. The train wreck that has been the ObamaCare launch all but assures that the first time many people really learn anything solid about ObamaCare now, is going to be because of bad news and negative headlines.

Obamacare Website Failure Threatens Health Coverage for Millions Of Americans

Add that to the challenge of selling skeptical Americans on a program that was always going to be difficult to sell because health care is such a personal issue, and it significantly increases the complexity of that task. In short, opponents have a genuine window of opportunity to damage ObamaCare, perhaps beyond repair in the public's mind, if they can come together and oppose it intelligently, consistently and together as one

I still don't get the need to convince people, sell people on the idea they should buy an ObamaCare product. A good product sells itself. Anytime a new product comes out that is useful and/or attractive, whether it is affordable or not, people buy it. They lined up on the street when the latest iPhone came out. If the ACA has such a great line of insurance products to sell to the American people, especially if they are truly affordable as the ObamaCare sales and marketing team claims that they are, just publish the information and people will be eager to buy one of these products.

I've noticed that there are a lot of hidden costs in these products in terms of deductibles and co-pays. Eliminate these hidden costs and people will be less reluctant to buy an ObamaCare product. Oh, but that will never happen. All of these hidden costs are how the insurance industry turns a profit. Needless to say, profit by deception has a very short half-life; but apparently, the Obama Administration is totally clueless to this fact.

Here is the problem with paying the fine. It is easy at first at $95 and everyone can casually say, "Hey, it is just cheaper and easier to pay the fine."

The sublle thing is that it now begins to make Americans into criminals. You will get a file, be labeled and a non-complier and then become open to being at the butt end of the government force.

"The poverty of this substitution of theater for actual ideas is best displayed by ObamaCare. Save at least a dozen gold 1oz. coins for your true health insurance, should you ever need it, and if so, be sure and buy a bottle of your favorite drink to complement.

The rover found enough frozen water a few inches deep in the Martian soil to sustain a small colony indefinitely. Dig up a bucket of soil and heat it up, and you'll get a few ounces of water.

There are plenty of organic molecules to make some lab grown meat. Airponics bays should be good to go for veggies.

Sure it might not be the best way to live, but at least you're off Earth. The bonus is you can really act like you're Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.

…at least you’re off Earth. Ahhhh..

To the degree that The Powers That Be have bound us within the chains of government minutiae and confined our flight within their dictated limits, so they have restricted the soaring heights of man’s creativity and inventiveness.

Mankind must break through these artificial fetters of the mind to once again process that vast knowledge he no longer realizes he possesses, a knowledge released by freedom.

It was writer and historian Louis L’Amour's belief “that man has been living and is living in a Neanderthal state of mind. Mentally, we are still flaking rocks for scraping stones or chipping them for arrowheads. The life that lies before us will no longer permit such wastefulness or neglect. We are moving into outer space, where the problems will be infinitely greater and will demand quicker, more accurate solutions. We cannot trust our destinies to machines alone (or the perimeters of State media). Man must make his own decisions.”

I am part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnished, not to shine in use!
As though to breathe were life. Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this grey spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.

--Alfred, Lord Tennyson, from “Ulysses”

Anyone ever read a short story called "The Marching Morons?"  It's about a time in the not-too-distant future when the IQ of almost everyone on Earth is 45.  A few smarter folks persuade the morons to relocate to Venus where the living is easy.  The morons get on space ships which promptly deposit their human contents in Earth's oceans as soon as they disappear over the horizon.  The ruse is cemented with tricks such as those the Nazis used, like sending postcards to family members still on Earth from Venus saying how wonderful everything is there.   Are we there yet?

This infogram is hilarious. If only I weren't so pissed.

The health insurance companies knew that the coverage of pre existing conditions mandate would  " justify" the increased premiums they are charging those consumers who already have traditional insurance plans. (United Health's Golden Rule, for example , jacked my wife's and daughter's rates 49.7% last year. Both healthy, no claims, etc, with $5,000 deductible. I am awaiting the new rates to be declared in December.)

But I suspect these insurance companies knew all along that no one, I mean NO ONE, would sign up for Obamacare, and thus these insurance companies will never face the exposure to these pre existing conditions.  This has been a one way rape ticket for the insurance companies and a new  tax reveniue for the government.

My insurance will be cancelled because of Obamacare, meaning a 42% increase in my premium and a 27% increase in my deductible. I am trying to get new insurance before Dec 31st. It's a better policy and a 20% increase in my premium and a 20% decrease in my deductible.

If your losing your insurance try to get a new policy that is obamacare eligible before Dec 31st and you could save some cash.

But it is the Red Team's fault for not providing appropriate funding:

Via Politico:  http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/obamacare-aca-website-broken-98412.html

"Former Obama administration Medicare and Medicaid chief Don Berwick told POLITICO that the early implementation years were marked by a shortage of funds. “The total implementation budget for Obamacare in the first two years, as I recall, was something in the order of $1 billion. The resources were spread quite thin and it was not possible at that time to get more resources from Congress,” he said. “We really wished there were more. The money wasn’t there.”

Berwick called the problems “troublesome but expected” and predicted they would not matter so much in a few months, as Obamacare takes root."

I think this is just the start of the blame game.  Unloading the problems of Obamacare onto someone -- anyone -- else willl be a marvelous piece of sleight of hand for which we have front row seats.

why would it cost a billion bucks to register a payment method for a health premium that is simply a portal/web access to a "proper" insured private sector health care provider? a linkt to a website costs nothing and im sure the private sector which is gorging itself on health care premiums that are 5 times bigger than they should would welcome some more "big brother" sourced people who need health care as much as an open wound needs sandpaper.

Obama is like diarrhea; try willing that away when you have it. One of these days, maybe man will turn from his selfish self, (not excluding myself), and righteously worship Him. BTW, that wasn't an endorsement.  I just prefer that when our govt spends money, WHATEVER they buy actually works even if I disagree with what it is.  I don't think McConnell shoulda got that money for that stupid dam but for the sake of the people in his state and since they're spending the money ANYWAY I hope the people of his state get something out of the deal.  I think Obamacare is a big fat gift to insurance companies and a huge waste of money being made worse by states that are dragging their feet.

Oregon is also letting all the govt workers that were furloughed keep their unemployment checks.  All is not right with the world.

I tried to register many times, but each attempt resulted in some error message like, "System temporarily unavailable."

It occurred to me that the entire system is designed to deny heath care access for the average person. You see the same general appearance, from microscopic details the the picture at large, the appearance of failure, of no health care for you or your family. It's like the Mandelbrot set. Zoom into a single molecule of a prescription drug that cost far too much and you see failure, a left hand molecular variation that is completely ineffective for treatment. From space, looking down on US, the vast majority of people are popping some pill, disease ongoing, not cured in the least. Our health care has been engineered with a fractal dimension of fail. The motivations behind the design all are all wrong.

From my understanding of Big Pharma and the AMA, no health care would probably result in an instant and marked drop in the mortality and morbidity rates of the average Amerikan.  Ain't gonna happen.  They'll just keep shooting us up with this toxic crap, choking on chemtrails, and GMO "foods," and make us pay top dollar for it.  Like paying $400 to Apple and Verizon to let the NSA know when you go out to walk your dog.  They really get off on our stupidy.

Thai medical care can be outstanding (I have visited a couple of their hospitals). I understand this is also true for other medical tourism destinations.

If the American medical system falls apart while they are making it perfect, at least the moderately well off can still get major problems taken care of.

If you ain't 'moderately well off'....see you in the next life.

My average patient is one prescription (30 days) away from pain, suffering and in some cases death.

Barry does not know where his arrogance leads.

Obama's solution to this incipient and disastrous failure will be so obvious I'm surprised no one stated it here. Or maybe I missed it. He kicks the can down the road - the individual mandate is delayed by 1 year, just like the Republicans wanted. Voila! Disaster averted. Bonus points for it being instantaneously "bipartisan".

I wish more people knew that ACA was decreasing care to the needy.  Taxing free hospitals is wrong.

I suggested they put the sites out there with "beta" status..duh?  Still we do need a new HHS Secretary and not personal at all as SEC has some problem with a figurehead sitting there with no tech experience and you can say the same for DOJ after DOJ Lanny got done wiith his job there.

Both consumers and government are learning the real shocking reality of the complexities of building IT systems today, just aint the good old days and I liked it back then too but no going back with code...it is what it is...

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2013/10/us-consumers-and-government-are.html

Wait until these novices hit the exchanges with their own trading models...you think insurance exchanges are crazy...their algos aren't working but these algos with homemade trading platforms that any novice can build and sell...well I would hate to see the same thing that happened to Knight happen to one human..yikes!!  It is a software as a service platform so anyone can fool around with it and sell it too, and I would guess one would have to show some trading success with the models before that would happen, or let's hope so...

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2013/05/bigdata-modeling-and-analytics-go...

This is a short paragraph of what went on behind the scenes then and there's a lot of this out there...I wrote an EMR but this pertains to any development of an elaborate software program...

When I used program, I wrote from the bottom up, everything, no platform so I did and cake and several layers frosting as well, so I have lived this and know exactly what it means when you have software glitches and failures and remember very clearly hours and week of sleep deprivation working on upgrades and glitches myself, so be kind when it comes to some of this and be patient.  I used to walk in and look at a couple doctors that would say “what the f**k is not going to work after this update”…makes you feel real good doesn’t it and does wonders for your confidence after a few weeks of very little sleep and living, breathing and eating code.

It takes numbers to work!

If enough people just paid the fine, refused to play, etc the entire thing would fold like a cheap suit!

The vulnerability is participation. This is one case where to some degree, you do not have to play.

I myself have engaged a local root doctor for our needs.

No thanks, commiecare!

Well that is the theory on this entire non-sense, is that's its a new 'reverse entitlement' where people actually PAY the gubmint to get nothing back,

So many people will enroll, and the FINE will be so high, that it is said it will cover the DEBT ( $200 Trillion ), and all the CDS debt as well ( $600 Quadrillion ).

So paying the fine is really the one trillion dollar silver coin.

In that case I won't sign up.

Where does it end with this government? Experimenting with mustard gas on soldiers, warfare simulations on citizens, injecting Agent Orange into citizens, spying on citizens, and forcing citizens to sign up on some program that farms the American population for money only to benefit health insurance corporations?

How in hell can this government have our best interests in mind when the history speaks for itself? If they don't kill us or spy on us they whore us out to big medicine.

It has to end with us.

All mooslims must eat bacon, ham, porkchops, and pickled pig's feet.

Both sides play their game well.

They divide the people so we become an inert force in politics. Plenty of people believe the lies and choose their sides and all the while the elites mock us.

And why shouldn't they? We as a people haven't proved them wrong.

The potential for abuse of this system is considerable. http://what-when-how.com/conspiracy-theories-in-american-history/eugenics/   Once the enlightened philosopher kings decide that something is an obvious public good, then what is going to stop them from forcing their values on you. What if they find a gene that causes diabetes, and they could alter it with a retro virus.  Would they force you to undergo a proceedure?  Public health crimes? No thanks.

I will leave it to God.
