PERU has a few things going for it... So does the USA, our new $100 bill is a beauty, but when I looked for it it was hard to get the day it was issued (October 8), although I have been down here in Peru for the past few days and maybe the new C-Note is easier to get now.

Although Peru is No. 6 in world gold production, it is harder than you might think to buy gold here (except jewelry, and even gold jewelry is a bit hard to find because it is so expensive). I'm working on bring a report...
Newmont and their partner Buenaventura have put their new Conga Gold Mine project on ice (partly due to local resistance, partly due to low gold prices). And Conga is supposed to be HUGE, a "world-class" gold mine, much bigger than their Yanacocha mine.
