I don't know how anyone could live like that. For example, when I graduated HS, I weighed 152 lbs, about 10 years later, while working as a foresty tech, I was around 166 lbs. Nowadays, I'm between 180-190, and the closer to 190 I get, the shittier I feel. That's only about 25 lbs. off my ideal weight. I couldn't imagine being triple my ideal weight. I think I'd just keel over.

I took my 4yr old off our family coverage and put her on this NY State plan back in May. This way our insurance would be self plus spouse and my daughter's individual policy. That was cheaper than family coverage.

My daughters state policy premium has gone up at least 5% every single month since may. Next year when I do my taxes (I am self employed) I will have to spend 4 hours with Taniwka on the phone explaining my tax return to her so my daughter can stay on the policy that goes up 5% every month. Unreal.

Seems like the template for Obamacare.

The inability for many in our culture to discern, much less publish the truth, is our downfall. This has been a long time developing and will take a long time to fix. Denial of the truth and hence reality make this a difficult process. It will take a "significant emotional event" for this to occur. Depression, war, crash, hyperinflation are examples of this event, but it is more likely something new or at least what appears to be new.

The pain will be significant, but the real question is how will we emerge from the catastrophe? I am not optimistic, but that is my nature.

Even if I buy his BS about insurance at $100 a month, why should I buy if I'm not, in all likelihood, going to use or need $100 a month in healthcare?

My cell phone and cable are things that I use and that justifies why I spend money on those things.
