#ObamaCanChockFullOfDebt

Yes We Can, Kick!

***OBLIGATORY***

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

"Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion."

"Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America."

"And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on."

"Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities."

Senator Barack Obama (D-IL)

VOTING AGAINST RAISING THE DEBT CEILING

March 16, 2006

Official National Debt @ that time: 8.6 Trillion ("with a T") USD

Official National Debt NOW: 17.2 Trillion ("with a T") USD

FORWARD!!!

I know that what I am about to proclaim is sacrilegious according to "popular wisdom," but here goes; even in as bad a shape as the U.S. economy & financial system are, China's economy & financial systems will implode first.

China's economy & banking system are at least 2x more Ponzi-rific & lacking in transparency, as hard as that may be to fathom, as the U.S.'s.

who's economy and financial system will implode first depends not on the actual economy or finances but the peoples expectations, temprement, and willingness to do something about it...based on this, you may be right that 'Merica's citizens are in no hurry to hold anyone (least themselves) accountable...hell, they just think it's those bad politicians like somehow they aren't the absolute reflection of the society that elects them.

Just one request. Can we stop all the twitter shit here? The #, and the @ and such. I don't give a shit what's trending and all that other horseshit, ok? And I don't what to know your little fucking hashtag thought.

I do hope I'm among a more intellectual crowd than the twitterbook group.

Over.

I guess you missed this little rant from earlier today.

How to be a douche bag and remain delusional

And I continue to miss it. I'm not one to hang with the artsy crowd here on the hedge. Although WB7 does nice work, there's just too much to consume here and I prefer the drier material.

But thanks bro.

I saw that bro, but I'm not interested in a Pure Evil tutorial on how he became a douche. Too busy and I think one P.E. type douche is good enough for such a small site.

But thanks anyway.

Over.

The bond holders need a place in that cartoon.

Once the FED is the only bondbuyer, the end has arrived.

It's hard to be reality based when traped in a massive clown show. Like Romans traped in a neverending financial Caligula orgey, what'dya want we should quip about?

Regime uncertainty accelerates every month. Numbers are ever more suspect. Macro is ever more political.
Pax Americana is in retreat.

Paul Krugman's done the math and he says you really can kick the can indefinitely.

There are a few characters absent from the cartoon, but just as complicate and reliant on the strategy.

Wall street.

Banks.

Etc...

LOL, the name of Obamacare should have been changed to the unaffordable care act instead as it rips people with no condition a big one.

Another transfer of wealth initiative.

Stairs should be circular and cambered, else not going to make the 90 degree turns.

Think we may be past the can-kicking scenario, it's closer to a pinball game, where the debt is the barely-controlled random pinball path, and Congress and Senate are the flippers, Obama is the Tilt, and 'Game Over' is just one pooched flip-flop away.

Ignoramous cartoon.

First, a can that is rolling down stairs need not be kicked.

Second, a can full of radioactive stuff decays, and gets less deadly over time (vs. inflationary debt, which compounds)

Third, the sequence of the stairs implies that Congress will be hit first by the return (not the President).

Fourth, Escheresque staircases are not real.

"Fourth, Escheresque staircases are not real."

But then again, neither is perpetual can kicking, so it fits.
